 Eriko nodded, and looked at Amira "Siblings are both a curse and a blessing." She said simply. She gave a small snort. "Now that is something I will never understand, friendships that is." She said shaking her head. Eriko had tried as a kid but quickly learned that it was a lost cause, the moment she tried making a "friend" she was should again. Amira was the only friend she needed. Amira thought a moment, "The berry picking sounds like fun." She said after thinking about it. Eriko sighed, "you can swim if you want Am I, I don't care." She said knowing what her twin was doing.

 Jay smiled a bit at Eriko's words about siblings being both a curse and a blessing. He supposed she was probably right, but Kit might understand what she meant more than Jay would, since Kit had many siblings. He nodded when Amira said that picking berries sounded like fun, then rose from the ground and went to get a couple of butter containers from the kitchen. "Kit, are you going to the lake with us?" he asked the kitsune, who was sitting in the living room, watching TV. Kit nodded and rose from the chair. "Let me get my fishing equipment," he said. Jay nodded and waited for him. Once Kit joined him, the two of them went outside. Jay beckoned for the girls to follow them, then led the way to the lake. Once there, Kit sat down on the bank, baiting his hook and casting his line in the water. Jay led Amira to the berry bushes he'd told her about and handed her a container. "We'll see how many we can get off these bushes," he said.

The girls stayed outside and waited as there was no need for them to go in as well. As they heard the guys coming out Eriko stood up and Amira followed her twin. The girls followed them to the lake Amira followed Jay to the bushed and Eriko tagged along Eriko decided to share Amira’s container. “Okay!” Amira said in reply as she picked a berry and showed it to her twin. “This is what you’re looking for, if it doesn’t look like this, or it’s damaged don’t pick it.” She said as Eriko nodded. Amira put the dish where they both could reach it and started picking. Eriko on the other hand picked a couple before asking Amira if it was ripe or not, every few berries. After only a little of that Amira picked some ripe ones and some non-ripe ones and handed the non-ripe to Eriko first. Eriko ate them but it was easy to see she didn’t like them. Amira them handed her twin the ripe ones to eat and Eriko smiled at the taste. “Pick the one that you liked.” Amira said before going back to picking berries for later again. Eriko nodded and picked some more before getting board and going to a spot she could watch, and be out of the way.

Jay started picking the berries off a raspberry bush, looking at each one to make sure they didn't have anything on them or that they weren't damaged. He smiled as he listened to Amira telling Eriko what to do. Amira really knows what she's talking about when it comes to plants, he thought. I guess that makes sense, since she has some knowledge of healing. He picked through the raspberry bushes, picking the ones that were the ripest and putting them in his container, before moving on to another berry bush. He glanced at the twins and noticed that Eriko had moved to a spot where she was out of the way. Smiling, he returned his attention to the berry bushes and noticed that along with the ones he'd known about, there were also some boysenberry bushes. A grin crossed his face as he got an idea, and he picked a couple of the boysenberries and approached the girls. "Try this," he told them, handing each of them a berry while keeping a straight face. Lily the Cute kitty just so you know, boysenberries can be sour or sweet

Amira looked over at Jay while he picked some raspberries and smiled, she then looked at her twin a moment and smiled, handing her some of the sweet berries to munch on. Amira had found a good amount of berries to fill her basket before moving on, leaving only the unripe or damaged berries behind. Eriko sniffed at the berry that Jay handed her. "It smells different." She stated plainly as Amira also looked at it before just fairly scraping a small part of the skin to taste it. She smiled. "It's just a hybrid berry, their good Eriko." She said plopping it in her mouth enjoying the sweet taste, Eriko was quick to follow. "Where'd you find them?" Amira asked.

Jay watched Amira picking berries for a moment, smiling when she handed Eriko some of the ripe ones. He watched their faces when they tried the boysenberries, glad they liked them. He knew from experience that boysenberries could either be sweet or sour, depending on the berry. Most of the ones he'd gotten were sour, but it seemed the bigger ones were sweeter. "I found them closer to the trees," he said, when Amira asked where he'd found the berries. "Boysenberries don't usually need a lot of water, so they're able to grow farther from water than some other types of berries."

Amira liked the taste of the berry, and when told where it was she went to pick some, picking some in different stages of ripeness she handed a set to Eriko, and one to Jay, keeping some for herself. “Tell me witch ones you like most and I’ll add it in the pie.” She explained, popping one in her mouth. She had only picked ones that were ripe enough to eat and have a good taste still. She ate one after the other, tasting them and keeping the taste in her memory just like she did when cooking and that. Eriko smiled and ate a couple. “I liked the sweet with the more scour, they even each other out really well.” Eriko said, and Amira nodded in agreement. “What do you think?” She said looking at Jay.

Jay took the berries that Amira handed to him, eating them both at once. He made a slight face at the taste, although he had to agree with Eriko, the sweet and sour berries did even each other out. He looked at Amira when she asked what he thought. "Eriko's right, they do even each other out well," he said. "I like the thought of a multi-berry pie."

Amira watched how he reacted to the different taste and smiled when he agreed. "Great!" She said and picked more, this time enough for the pie. While she picked she gave Eriko the job of sorting the damaged berries from the rest. "Ami's pies are the best." She said while her twin picked the ripe ones.

Jay smiled back at Amira when she spoke. He picked some more of the boysenberries as Amira did the same, giving Eriko the task of sorting out the damaged berries from the good ones. Jay smiled again when Eriko spoke, saying that Amira's pies were the best. "It's been a long time since I've had homemade pie, especially with berries that we've picked ourselves," he said. Kit momentarily shifted his gaze from his bobber to Jay and the girls, smiling as he watched and listened to them interacting.

Eriko sighed as she shorted though everything, leaving the damaged berries for the animals once finished she laid on the ground again. Amira smiled when Jay said he hadn’t had homemade pies for a while. “Homemade ones are the best.” She said picking more berries. Eriko could sense someone watching and turned to face Kit, but then turned back as there wasn’t any threat in him just watching. She then moved into a more shaded area and watched a nearby butterfly fly around, her ears stull tuned in Amira, and making sure her twin was safe.

Jay smiled, nodding at Amira's words about homemade pies being the best. That was true; then again, anything that was homemade tasted better that what one could buy from a store. "Aye, this is true," he said, kneeling down so that he could get at the berries toward the inside of the bush. "Then again, homemade food always tastes better than store-bought food, just as homegrown vegetables taste much better than store-bought ones." He finished the bush he was working on and moved away from the bush, setting his full container down in the grass beside him as he sat down. "Berry picking today was a good idea," he said. "Look at how many we got!"

Amira smiled as he agreed with her, and soon filled her container as well, setting it down beside Eriko she picked a mixture of random berries and handed some to Eriko, eating the rest one by one herself. “That’s true, it’s also easier too cook with and that too.” She said, before eating another berry. Amira was sitting beside Eriko, their containers in-between them as that sat, Eriko’s tail twitching contently. “It was fun!” Amira said agreeing with Jay with a smile. “ We did get a lot of berries. There will definitely be plenty left after I make the pie.” She laughed as she and Eriko finished the berries Amira had picked for them to munch on.

Jay smiled, nodding at Amira's words. "Ye're right, there," he said. He watched as the twins sat in the grass, eating a mixture of the berries they'd picked. He smiled when Amira agreed that berry picking had been fun, then told him there would be some left over after she'd finished making the pie, trying to think of ways they could use the leftover berries. "How should we use the rest of the berries after ye've made the pie?" he asked. Kit had returned his gaze to his bobber, but he was listening to the conversation. "Why not try to make some jam or preserves?" he suggested.

Eriko’s tail twitched as she enjoyed the tiniest bit of sun peaking though the bushes leafed where she and Amira sat. She smiled as she ate a sweeter berry and leaned on her twin’s shoulder, the warmth on her ears and tail making her lazier than she normally was. Amira thought about Jay’s question then smiled when she heard Kit mention preserves of some short. “That would be a good use of them.” She said with some thought. “And we could keep some for use to go with other meals too, like French toast and berries or something.” She said.
