Stryke felt something clasp his shoulder, and for a moment he froze in a noise of fear bubbling from his throat. The voice it belonged to at least made his frame sag with relief. He hadn't meant for the situation to escalate, he'd been trying to talk her down. Her angry hurt expression made him try to reach out despite having nearly been laid into by her. "no..! wait! you were jussst trying to keep out someone who might hurt usss.." He winced as she stormed out without a second glance back.

There was No way in hell was he going after her, he'd learned his lesson long ago about chasing others when they were volatile. Stryke didn't have the energy reserves to face what might come of the confrontation. He'd seen her start to apologize, but it was soon revoked and buried under anger. The yellowblood muttered one of his own as he lowered his hood, staring blankly towards the exit she'd taken.

Just like that his head was pounding with a dull throbbing sensation, the danger and high stress of the last few nights leading up until now and pushed him passed his limits. It felt like the present situation had seemly heightened his senses for a moment in time. His irises had shifted from their normal shape to that of his symbol, although the transition was unwittingly. The mixed bag of emotions that overcame him was an odd rush. Ryk shook out his fingers before clenching and releasing them trying to dispel the odd tingling in them. It was like a gear trying to turn and click into motion. Stryke even swore he thought he could hear the sound of ticking. A flicker of yellow seemed to surround him briefly as he reached up to rake a hand through his bangs.

you're imagining things nvrmor. He reasoned for what seemed like the third or fourth time that night. It had to be from the blood loss, he was just losing his mind from lack of sleep. As things settled down the sensation passed, he blinked rapidly past the draining head fog that overcame him. Just a flash of color in his vision, he was a bit light headed he supposed. Maybe he'd hit his head and forgot about it at some point.

His eyes were once more ordinary as he turned to address the two left in the room.

A tired sigh left the teens lips as he took an uncertain step away from Aprife, gently shrugging his shoulder and shrinking away from the proximity of their frames. It hurt, but he made no noise as he limped those few steps. His eyes traveled between the pair. He knew the yellowblood as the head of Intelligence, and one of a few adults that worked for the rebellion. He smiled tiredly at him, the jab at the time pun hadn't been lost on him. Stryke actually appreciated the acknowledgement of his involvement with the rebellion from the older...even if it was only in passing.

He recognized the greenblood, Muerte he believed. The guy whom had clapped at the end of Errade's beheading, Stryke swore the greenblood had taken a piece of her, although he had tried his best to ignore the brief glimpses he'd gotten. Instead running off to speak with Byakko that night that seemed so long ago. His lips pursed slightly, but he put that fact behind him. He'd proven he was dedicated, that'd have to be enough for right now.

His expression fell to a more neutral one before inclining his head. "well..good evening. nice to see familiar faces.." He added tentatively to dispel the awkward moment of silence.

quite uneventful.

This lady seemed quite popular. Trolls were shouting her name left and right. Reemus looked on, slightly confused. The lowblooded newcomer looked startlingly like Kei. Did they even have the same symbol? What in the heck...

"Uh, right." Reemus blinked out of zoning. "So," looking at Miache again in a less staring fashion than he had at Zariah and Keionx just now, "Movin' her first, then get some water?" One of these things he was fine with; the other, he wasn't looking forward to at all. In the desert, water was rare but beautiful. Here, it was everywhere, smelled wrong, and the annoying bugs loved it. He swatted one on his arm, even. "I can do that."

He was helping, that was what was important right now. "Jus' promise me you'll get somethin' done fer yer neck." Then he looked at Miache's hand cuffs. What the heck had this blueblood gotten up to tonight? "We'll have to do somethin' about that, too," the yellowblood commented as he went to lift Kei onto his back.

Voscil had come to the village with Reemus and their respective lusii close at hand, but for once in her young life she had asked her friend if she could be alone. The promise to come back shortly was there, and she had grabbed for him, looking into her yellowblood’s eyes when she had requested for privacy. After her screw up with leaving him behind, it was more important than ever for her to confirm things with those that meant something to her. She could be as oblivious as she wanted to, but everything about the last three nights had been more like a giant slap in the face. It had been a wakeup call, a reminder to remember to sometimes look outside her immediate self before she ran over the ones that meant most to her. Thoughts of Afryse also flooded her thinkpan, wondering if she’d ever see him again. She’d made two of her friends upset back to back. Joining that with her rash and hasty decision to charge off during the heat of combat had all contributed to where she was in the present moment.

Her dear Cops and Robbers were still out there somewhere too, one of which she wasn’t sure she’d see again any time soon. The thought of not seeing Zindel left her full of regret that she hadn’t had more time with him. Etsali and Ephias she might see again she realized, if they stuck with the rebellion. Given what she’d left the three of them to handle however, doubt consumed her thoughts.

The abandoned village the lot of them had stumbled upon was spacious enough she could opt to take a walk for the now. Her body was tired, evident by the lack of static electricity emanating around her .

Mamaju kept close with a slow limp as she followed after her charge, and she leapt into the hive Voscil had intended to sit down in. Hunkering down onto the old wooden floor, the tigress rested her muzzle across her mighty paws with a small sigh of her own. You did well in listening to me my dearest. She praised in a low rumbling tone. While neither were happy, and wanted to just go back home to their apartment complex in New Hemisect City, they had made it out mostly in one piece. Even if Mamaju was burned, singed and had freshly healing gouge from the hot bolt that had hit her chest.

Examining her mother now that they weren’t on the move and running, Voscil gently unwrapped her bandages and applied fresh ones the best she could. While clumsy and hastily done, at least they were fresh. A few stray tear drops hit her knees as she ran her fingers through her lusus’s coat. “Mamaju..this is the last time I’m going to let you get beat up for me. I love you. I don’t want you to get killed while I sit back and do nothing. We can fight together!” She whispered as she quickly scrubbed at her marked cheeks leaning in to press her forehead to the roarbeast’s forehead. “Okay?” She stated firmly with a small, tired growl.

Surprised, her lusus lifted her head and met her troll’s gaze. She still saw her as her tiny troll kit who used to speedily zoom around and climb all over her. Voscil was growing up, even if her height didn’t match her boldness quite yet. I understand, but I will always be with you if I can help it child. She replied finally with a sigh of her own before resting her head back down on her paws. She was tired, the rest was well deserved.

Pulling back from her lusus, Voscil let out a long slow sigh. That had gone better than she expected. Her lusus was glaring at her, but they weren't screaming at one another at least. Still she was certain her lusus would always fuss her, it was just Mamaju and her way. Still it was mildly annoying to know she was still being babied. Rolling her eyes, she scooted to the front of the hive they’d clambered into and sat down on the edge. Her feet swung idly as she sat in one of the time-worn hives. Her fingers slid against the opening, inspecting it as her looking orbs swept what she could see of the hives within the tree line. Whatever this place once was, it was a shell of its former glory.

Voscil could almost imagine what this forsaken hamlet might look like if it was spruced up. A smile began to tug at her lips as she tried to make light of the situation. Sure, she was now following a possible mutant blood as her leader, but it beat the hell out of going back and being arrested. Call it selfish or petty, she didn’t want to be branded and looked down upon. As easy it had sounded, taking the out of blaming everyone but herself didn’t feel right to her.

Life would go on. In one had there had been the great familiar, while the other held a greater unknown. It wasn’t just Ephias’s words, or even the fact she’d followed Reemus to help the other side. To say she didn’t want to listen to her friends, she trusted that they only cared and hoped for the best. Somewhere along the lines, Voscil realized needed to do this for herself, and not some other troll. Not because her lusus told her to do it, it had to be HER choice. It’d be pretty messed up if she just blindly nodded and agreed. That was too damn easy, there were plenty of other things, places, and times where that would be okay.

Vos didn’t feel the need to rejoin the empirical side of Alternia in order to fit in. She was still herself and perhaps this way she could avoid becoming a weapon for some highblood to exploit. It was her deepest primal fear, outside of what had occurred later on after the underground fiasco. The daywalkers that had risen during the night were still fresh on her mind. Not only did she hate swamps, but those things scared her.

Memories of Aendal still haunted her, not matter how much she tried to forget about the horrors. Trauma like that, even with the drought long since passed, would never leave her; nor would these nights that lead to the flight of the Phoenixes. Here she was in the thick of the morass, feeling like her life had just taken a 180. Reemus had said it was likely with their having done bad things that they’d be in trouble. He’d even offered her the opportunity to blame it all on him. She didn’t want that, wasn’t it her choice to speed after him? Even if she caught herself lamenting about her decision Voscil had made up her mind, she realized, as she watched the boulders rumble and settle into place.

“Mama…get some rest please? I’m going to go explore the village for a bit.” The psionic added, slipping her weapons from her bag she’d brought along for the journey to “aid” at the queens request when she called everyone to arms at her speech, and had the hooded greenblood lead them. Voscil didn’t want to sit and watch the stars in the sky, she needed to keep active or else she’d pass out. Being terrorized without sopor to sleep in wasn’t on her list of priorities. Maybe she could help, she could hear familiar voices not too far away. The more Vos thought about it, she realized at the time been happy to bounce along, thinking it was just a big game when the army marched. Her lusus didn’t put up any resistance, and soon was resting as well as could be expected. How wrong had she had been. Still, it had to count for something that Voscil was here to stay.

There was no turning back. Whatever happened to her, she would face the consequences. Running away from this wasn’t going to save her. Instead she’d forge her own, new path.

Safe Rebels:
And as the shadows in the swamp slowly expand and contract, you come to realize that you have been there for more than a night. It's time to decide what to do next.
The following instructions below are for the most part mandatory. We heavily encourage players to be aware of their character's in-game actions, and the effect of their choices. If you feel that you would like to be exempt, please pm us explaining why, rather than simply ignoring the instructions below.

Quote:
Melona-pan will be starting an open orp soon for all rebels in the swamp. In it, the mother grub will be arriving, and final decisions can be made on who is staying and who is going.

For trolls who stay:
There isn't enough left for you back out in the world, or whatever is left isn't worth the risk. The original inhabitants of the village may have died out due to in-fighting, xenophobia against the outside world, and self-imposed total seclusion, but you're absolutely totally certain that with the high-minded goals of the rebellion driving your group, that won't be an issue this time. Maybe? Hope is an eternal thing. With a spirit of either enthusiasm or wariness, you still have the same task ahead of you.

The previous inhabitants that remain have to be tossed out into the swamp. Houses must be re-built, with your own two hands rather than the gifted talents of construction drones. What's harder is they will have to be built dangling above the ground. The tunnel back through the mountain must be cleared, well enough at least to let trolls through to bring back food and supplies to stock the village for the foreseeable future. The various pulley ramps and makeshift elevators have to be oiled and cleaned, replaced with new rope to haul goods up from the swamp's floor to the village. Finally, the sopor tanks sitting in the old storage shed must be refilled with a few long and gruelling trips to the underground spring that sits a night's travel away, on the same path to the tunnel. Once filled, they will supply slime for a perigee's worth of nights before having to be refilled again. You'd best roll up your sleeves and begin to work.

For trolls who return:
The village in the swamp is a safe haven you can return to whenever you desire, but for now you have unfinished business out in the world. For whatever reason, you wait or help clearing the blockage through the busthind tunnel, then treck back through it with no intent of immediately returning. Although the journey back is long, and leaves you dead tired, the tunnels themselves are level and easy to traverse, with no angry wildlife stalking their corridors. Soon you hear the roar of water and find yourself behind a pounding waterfall. Taking a narrow path around, you come out into a small unremarkable valley in the Busthind mountains. There's still a long journey back to civilization, but by heading away from the mountains and towards the lowlands, you'll go in the right direction.

For all trolls who fought against Kursha and have had their identities compromised:
You have been rudely and suddenly displaced from your comfortable lives, and have had large red targets painted on your back, if they weren't already there to begin with. If you attempt to return to your old life and old friends, you will find everything has suddenly become very dangerous. Please read the spoiler below on what you will face if you plan on returning to your hive.

Returning home:
Disclaimer: The fight > capture route is not intended or encouraged to be something trolls go down. It is what happens if your character constantly disregards the dangers of openly rebelling in their strictly controlled society and should be seen as more of a thing to avoid than pursue. If taken, it should be played seriously as an event that will definitely merit at minimum a journal edit when it is over, and be something that your troll will have to live with and remember forever. As always we have a strict anti-'crazy' trolls policy, and the choices and paths put forward here should not be taken as opportunities to turn your troll into a Gamzee, or any other sort of deranged or mentally ill character.

If you attempt to simply walk into your old home as if nothing had ever happened, you must fight the following insanely hard fight by copy-pasting the code in the fight section below into a new thread. Trolls are not able to join in unless they were returning to your house with you. Loosing the battle will result in capture (or re-capture in some cases) and a very very unpleasant time for your troll in captivity, possibly the most straight up bad experience we have given as an option for trolls up to this point. (See capture below).

If you attempt to return home via stealthy means, tunnelling into your house from below or breaking in through the wall of an adjoining hive, or if you live in a hivestem, sneaking in with a crowd of other dwellers, then you are safe - for a while. Every rp post set in your home will require all trolls in the house to roll 1d20 in their posts. If your troll leaves their hive during the rp and the rest of it is set a safe distance away, the rolling can stop part-way through! It only has to continue while your troll is in/within visible distance of their hive. Once one number has been rolled twice (not in a row), all trolls in the house should feel a sense of unease, and any lusus or troll standing guard will report that around your house, everything has gone very quiet. When another number has been rolled twice (or the previous number has been rolled three times), lusii or trolls standing guard should be able to see shadowy figures moving towards your house. It is recommended that your trolls flee at this point. On the third time, your troll and all other trolls in the house must participate in the same insanely hard fight as mentioned above, with capture (or re-capture) the result of loosing it. The same disclaimers about captivity being a very unpleasant situation is re-iterated.

If you had a job in, or were a frequent face around, a well known public place (libraries, parks, etc) you must use the same mechanics as 'stealthy return' above for any and all rp post set in the same area, unless you went through the effort of properly and fully disguising yourself before going. Simply wearing a hood will not work, your troll must present as an entirely new character via wigs, different hemotyped clothing, heavy makeup, etc. If your troll simply avoids the places they used to frequent or moves to a new city, they are able to get by as long as they do not draw attention to themselves, and remain far away from any military buildings. If they do not take any of the above precautions, then very quickly they will yet again find themselves in the very very difficult fight scenario below. (The fight must be initiated at the player's prerogative in a thread where no efforts of disguise are taken.)

This status will apply until further notice - possibly for the rest of your troll's life until they demonstrate that they have completely renounced their past actions through future opportunities, they find a way to disappear 'off the grid', or they leave mainstream Alternian society for good.

Fight:

Mini-Boss Rules:
This is a mini-boss! Unlike regular boss battles, the mule will not be posting new rounds, and players can simply post as fast and often as they want, taking turns to attack one at a time.
Players who have trinkets or abilities may also post to use one directly after posting their attack, giving them a maximum of two turns for that round.
When each troll in the fight has had a turn to attack the mini-boss once and use one power/trinket, a new round begins.
At each new round roll the standard 2d6 and use the table below to see what damage you've taken.
As always, the first number is what you should check for your damage, and the second is the amount done to the mini-boss.
Once the mini-boss or all players fighting it reach 0hp, this can be counted by all trolls participating as a battle rp for growth. If you have any questions, please PM the mule!

UNIT HP: (trolls in combat x 50)

Everything is much too quiet. Before you know it, black-clad trolls burst out of every possible angle. Simultaneously silent and booming, the treads of their boots stomp towards you in perfect harmony. It's a stampede of trained professionals - no bumbling drones, no chance for escape or mercy. With a brusque grunt and a hand-signal, you hear the haunting charge of high-powered Alternian weaponry and see the glint of gun barrels and brightly colored energy crackling from within. As the troops surround you, a few unhook some unidentifiable grenades from their belts in warning. You should consider coming quietly.

If you rolled a 1, you find yourself facing a rain of high-tech Alternian weapon blasts aimed directly at you. Shafts of deadly, burning light of all colors blast through your skin, some leaving the other side. The sensation of intense radiation is surreal. While there are no marks on your exterior you feel as though you are boiling from the inside out. Take 8 dmg this round, and 1 additional damage per round until you roll a 6 to dodge. Deal no damage this round

If you rolled a 2, the gas-masked trolls' bombs land directly at your feet and you are caught in a thick cloud of deadly gas. No matter how hard you run, the almost plasma-like cocoon of choking poison follows. Take 7 dmg this round and 1 additional damage per round until you roll a 4, 5 or 6 to dodge. Deal no damage this round.

If you rolled a 3, a blast of one of the Unit's lasers hits you square in the chest and you freeze immediately. You can barely feel the beat of your pump biscuit as the shriveling beam causes all of your nerves to clench. You're an easy target now. Take 6 dmg.

If you rolled a 4, you are unable to avoid a smoke grenade, and take a few shots and blows while fleeing through the caustic trap. Take 5 dmg.

If you rolled a 5, a troll catches you by the arm and throws you to the ground, readying their cuffs to take you in. Beaten and bruised, you wiggle free. Take 4 dmg.

If you rolled a 6, you have time to avoid most of the blows, but are unable to keep track of all of the black-clad government agents now forcefully seeking to reclaim you. Take 3 damage.

When the mini-boss or all trolls have reached 0hp, please look in the spoiler below.
Mini-Boss at 0
You manage to flee from the squadron, but for how long? Footfalls begin to fade behind you as you make your way at a quick clip away from the scuffle. They know your face, and they know your name. They'll be back.
Players at 0
Everything goes black. The sounds of shots begin to reside and are replaced with the strange sensation of pressure under your back as you are lifted into a government transportation vehicle. You have been captured. A hood is drawn over your head, and before you know if you're out like a light once again - to wake up who knows where.
Capture:
If your troll has disregarded all basic safety precautions and lived fast and loose, they will find themselves in a small white room. Their lusus will be removed to do hard labour at the same energy generating plant as the winter 2015 lusii were brought to. Your troll themselves will be put through one of the following situations, until a roleplay rescue is done with another (or multiple other) troll(s). Freeing lusii will re-use the rules and mechanics of the same winter 2015 event, see Lusii below. The resulting effects from capture should be long-lasting, and if we see people brushing this off as a minor and unimportant event, we will ask that it be changed. If you do not want your troll to experience this or the resulting aftermath, please play your troll smartly to ensure they do not risk this experience! Even if the rescue is immediate, your troll will have experienced one of the following.
1] Medical Testing
Your troll will have been given regular doses daily of various test serums designed to encourage 'docility, obedience, and compliance'. What the actual results of these drugs have on your troll is up to you as long as there is a result. It can wear off over time, as the chemicals are flushed from their system.
2] Brainwashing
Your troll will have been put through a pattern of sleep, food, and sensory deprivation to attempt to strip away their personality and thoughts. They are then coached to believe that their responsibility to other trolls and to society is to peacefully and diligently work in the sectors assigned to their blood colour for the glory of Alternia. How far along this was, and how well this works is up to you - though brainwashing does wear off over time.
3] Medical Examination
The most unlucky trolls will have had various invasive surgeries in an attempt to locate what part of them causes their 'deviant behaviour'. This will leave them with permanent scarring, and not much of a clear memory of what happened, due to being under heavy sedation for most of the time.

If your troll is not rescued and instead stays in captivity, they are released once they display the signs of being completely reformed. This is not just saying 'yes I love the queen' but also being able to stand up to psychological evaluations and close monitoring.
Lusii:
If your poor, ever-suffering Lusus has fallen into the clutches of the military (again, in some cases), then they will need to be saved from their unfortunate fate. All the lusus have been marked with a brand/tracking chip that must be removed after the rescue, sedated, and sent to various power plants in all the cities where they are being forced to jump on treadmills and run in various sized gerbil cages to generate energy. There are no set obstacles to this roleplay, save for the ones you put in. (however, please remember to take into account that it is a dangerous situation!)
For each post every person submits, roll 1d6. Keep track of the accumulated point total between all players posting. When you have gotten to the point where you have found and released your lusus, or have reached a total of 20 points, (whichever comes first) multiply the result by the total number of party members, and consult the spoiler below.
Please copy-paste the code below into your next post in this thread, and change the thread's title label to show it is both a rp and battle.
You have encountered a Security Patrol!
Mini-Boss Rules:
Only trolls who's rolls contributed to 'summoning' this mini-boss may fight it.
This is a mini-boss! Unlike regular boss battles, the mule will not be posting new rounds, and players can simply post as fast and often as they want, taking turns to attack one at a time.

GUARD STARTING HP: (final group's rolling score x number of group members)

As you sneak along, trying not to attract any unwelcome attention, you nevertheless fail to get past all the guards unseen. A ringing cry pierces your sponge clots - "Halt!" Two drones, clearly low-tier guards, come huffing up, one shedding a half-eaten circular grain product with sugary glazing. "This is a restricted area! You are under arrest! Put your hands in the air!" Taking out a handheld transceiver, one of them barks into it. "We have intruders, repeat! Intruders!"

The other one shuffles a little, getting out a heavy baton. "Burtam - did you remember to put new batteries in?" At this, the barking drone, Burtam, pauses and squints down at his device, pressing the button a few times. The machine fails to light up, or make noises, or give any sign of life. "Damn. Uh. Hey you! I said hands up! Just because we don't have backup doesn't mean you won't be getting into a nice new pair of cuffs!" Raising his own baton, he nods at his partner, and the two drones advance on you.

If you rolled a 1, the two guards both decide to focus on you, and actually manage to wrestle you to the ground with your hands behind your back before you're able to shake them off. In your mind's eye, you can see the cell's door slamming back into place as you're thrown in again. Take 4 dmg.

If you rolled a 2, one of the guards leaps at you in a frenzy, striking you over and over and over while yelling something about 'assaulting an officer of the royal army'. He seems to be forgetting which one of you is doing the assaulting at the current moment. Take 3 dmg.

If you rolled a 3, a truncheon comes down hard on your head, making your eyes cross for a moment as chirpbeasts flutter around in front of your vision. Take 2 dmg.

If you rolled a 4, you charge forward and place your foot square on the food carelessly dropped by one of the drones as they arrived. The sugary glaze causes you to slide awkwardly across the floor, arms windmilling, before dropping you onto your rear. Take 1 dmg.

If you rolled a 5, You manage to duck and dodge all truncheon swings, nimbly slipping in between and around the two bulky guards as they flail at you.

If you rolled a 6, you consider these two drones, willingly working in a plant that is powered by enslaved lusii. What kind of heartless jerk could enforce the law, in a place filled with parents forcefully separated from their children?! Your next attack is loaded with righteous outrage, and does double damage.

When the mini-boss or all trolls have reached 0hp, please look in the spoiler below.
Mini-Boss at 0
As soon as the first of the guards drops to a knee, you take your chance and dart past them, ignoring the shouts from behind you as you leave them in your dust. You'd better get out of here before they catch their second wind! (Do not continue to roll 2d4s. If players hit the maximum of 20 points in rolling the 2d4, each player can now roll 1d100 in their next post. If you get a multiple of 10, your troll has snatched a 3 use novice trinket of your choice from one of the guards as they fled past.)
Players at 0
The two guard drones are more than a match for you, and you call a strategic retreat, running until you can't hear their footsteps or shouts anymore. Looks like you will have to find another way around to get past. (Do not continue to roll 2d4s)

If accompanied by a teen/is a teen
For each post every person submits, roll 1d6. Keep track of the accumulated point total between all players posting. When you have gotten to the point where you have found and released your lusus, or have reached a total of 20 points, (whichever comes first) multiply the result by the total number of party members, and consult the spoiler below.

Please copy-paste the code below into your next post in this thread, and change the thread's title label to show it is both a rp and battle.
