[1. Navigate a set and winding narrow pathway. Scored based on accuracy of path. Direction Roll]

It simply wouldn't do for them to miss out on any of the events! With a large boulder firmly tossed by Moriath the bonded pair had taken a little time to relax while they waited for their turn at the obstacle course. Moriath had used the time to nap and take a swim in the warm shallows - she still ached a little from the exertions of the wing relay, the water helped a great deal with that - and Kleos used the time to wander among some of the stalls that had been set up for the duration of the festivities. She was looking for a present for Ralae, a sort of... new home-warming present she supposed? And anyway she hardly needed an excuse to get a treat for her oldest friend. The only trouble was that she had no idea what to get. A dress? A piece of jewellery? An ornament for her pretty hair? Perhaps some scent? Or maybe a really good bottle of wine? They did enjoy their wine. Then again there were the curiosities plied by the Ancient crafters, fascinating to be sure and many of them very pleasing to the eye.

<>

<> Kleos looked up at the position of the sun and internally chided herself for a fool, she had got so caught up in window shopping that she'd almost allowed herself to miss her turn at the obstacle course!

Tearing her eyes away from a stall of pretty song wherries in pretty cages - a caged bird would be no good as a gift anyway - Kleos turned and hastened towards the obstacle course.

By the time she arrived she was a little flushed and slightly out of breath. “Am I late?” she asked with an apologetic smile to the master of ceremonies. “I completely lost track of the hour, one could spend a lifetime among the festival stalls!”

“Not late but you cut it fine,” the master of ceremonies replied with a chuckle. “Get to your mark please wingleader, blindfold on.”

Kleos nodded and hastened to obey as she was introduced to the crowd; the cheer that went up sent a swell of pride through Kleos’ whole body. She was sure that everyone got cheered but it was still a pleasure to be welcome so to the competition stage as it were.

<>

Kleos nodded. <>

[1. Navigate a set and winding narrow pathway. Scored based on accuracy of path. Match roll!]

<> Moriath said, starting to send careful directions down the link between herself and her rider. The path was narrow, stepping off it would cost them point so it was important to be careful, speed was not of the essence here but at the same time they couldn't be seen to dawdle.

Kleos frowned in concentration and chewed on her lower lip, striving to step as Moriath directed and not an inch to either side. Several times however she felt her dragon wince, signalling a less than perfect placement of her foot. <> Ah, she hoped nobody would laugh at her.... Well she couldn't hear anyone laughing, and when she made it to the end of the path she even got a cheer although she suspected that was more just for 'well tried' than for 'well done'.

<> Moriath sent reassuringly. So long as they did well at at least a few of them it would be alright, in fact in her opinion even if they flubbed it all it was hardly the end of the world. They were great and she knew it.

<>

<> Moriath agreed, <>

[4. Colour a picture with chalks on a large chalk board.]

While J’nes continued on, a cheery spring in his step, Hatteth studied the obstacle before him. This one is not something to travel around or over. There is a large chalk board with a picture drawn on it, and colored chalks in front of it. You need to color it in.

Well that’s different, J’nes answered, slowing down. Child’s play if I could see, but very tricky now. If I move the chalk in the wrong place it’ll leave a very visible mark. We’ll have to go slow with this.

Agreed. Slow down, it’s just ahead of you.

J’nes did so, carefully putting one foot before the other and lifting on had to feel in front of him. In a moment his fingertips met slate and he stopped. Is the chalk nearby? he asked. He expected so, but where was the question.

Yes, there is a table below. Reach down and I will guide you to it.

[4. Colour a picture with chalks on a large chalk board.]

Move your hand straight down. The tabletop with the chalks is right below the board, Hatteth instructed.

J’nes slowly moved his hand down, his fingertips just barely touching the chalkboard, until his hand touched the tabletop below. Then he ran his fingers along the top, slowly so that he didn’t knock the chalk off the table. Before long his hand bumped into a small, smooth cylinder.

There it is, Hatteth confirmed. You’re touching yellow chalk. The picture is of a canine, so that will do.

J’nes grasped the chalk, maneuvered it into a writing position, then lifted it up. So we have to color in the head, body, legs and tail? he asked.

Yes, though the canine is seated, so it is mostly the head, body and tail, Hatteth answered. You have the chalk near the middle of the body, so let us start there.

Hatteth directed J’nes in moving the chalk back and forth across the board. They did a credible job of it, and although they went out of the lines a couple times, in the end it looked like something a reasonably coordinated child could have done.

That is enough, Hatteth finally said. Put the chalk down and circle around the board so we can move on to the next portion.

You will have plenty of time to dry off for this stage, Killa rumbled in amusement. You should have gotten lessons from Esre for this. The dragon waited as she let her rider figure out what connection her younger brother might have to the next task. He could pass this with ease I bet. After all he spends so much time drawing doesn't he? Needless to say much of that time was spent drawing her. She tilted her head as she directed her rider up to the chalkboard.

Alright feel for the chalk. Pick up that one, no-yes that one. Raise your arm high and do circles. This was quite entertaining!

Well at least it wasn't more water this round. The warm sun felt good on her back. Lessons? Esre? What are you babbling about dragon? She thought hard as silence filled her mind. Ok think. Esre impressed his dragon after her, so that likely wasn't it. What else did he do? After several minutes, her dragon dropped her a hint. "Drawing?!" She spoke out loud in surprise. Oh right. Well let's get on with it. There was a reason Esre had the drawing pads and she didn't.

Vos groped for a chalk and raised her arm; she completed several circles. She switched chalks at directions and made some more marks. This was way harder than she thought. Doubly so when she couldn't see what she was doing! You want me to do what? She had Killa clarify how she was moving that chalk. In the end the dragon seemed quite pleased with the results.

5. Spin 10 times then pin the tail on the dragon.

Killakeeth hummed in pleasure at the next task. I believe you'll enjoy this one Vos. Move up to the table, there. To your right a bit, yes. Now grab a thing from the table. Oooo do watch out, they have tacts. Now move away from the table. Yes over there is fine. Spin ten times, then your going to pin that tail on the dragon. Killa counted down the spins.

Right. Wow your dizzy Vosin. She laughed as her rider wobbled slightly.l Ok, ok. move a little to your left and now raise your hand. Up, up, right, right there!

5. Spin 10 times then pin the tail on the dragon.

From the sound of Killa's tone, this next one would be easy. She felt sweat trickling down between her shoulders after the effort of coloring. At least she wasn't thinking about her wet boots anymore. When she reached out, Vos jerked her hand back after being pricked. "Ouch!" She sucked on the stabbed finger. "Now she tells me," she muttered. Reaching out more carefully, she picked up one of the tails.

All she had to do was pin the tail on the dragon. Easy enough, but first she had to spin. Vosin spun herself around as Killa counted it down. On her tenth turn she stopped and swayed. I am, but I think that's the point of the spins. Tell me where to put this stupid tail. She wobbled up to the board. Vosin did her best to aim it as Killa directed, and she pinned the tail. She hoped it was good.

6. Throw a ball at a target

Just stagger your way past that board and we'll move along to the ball throwing. Are you sure you can walk? Maybe you should stand there a few minutes more and let the dizziness ware off. No? Well I guess we are timed. Moving along then! Killa wondered how well her rider would be able to make the throw.

In front of you, you'll find a ball. Don't worry, no tacts on this one. Pick it up. Now stand to your right a step. Yes there. Now the target is several lengths ahead of you, and about three feet off the ground. Got it? Good, now throw!

6. Throw a ball at a target

Finally something that sounded easy. Vosin felt cautiously for her ball. Yes it was soft. She hefted it experimentally. Not too bad. Now how was she going to throw it without being able to see? That was the kicker. It sounded easy, but blindfolded it was hard. She'd have to trust Killa to line her up right. She nodded as the dragon described the location of her target.

Vos felt like she had a good mental picture where she had to place the ball. She took aim. Went through the motion once, twice, and threw! She heard Killakeeth trumpet in triumph as the ball hit dead on target. Woo hoo! Not bad for an old girl eh?!

7. Finally, navigate a hay bale maze. The maze is winding and geometric in patterning and is approximately 6 feet tall.

Speak for yourself! Killa was not old! Brushing off the feeling she focused on the last part. It looks like a maze, Vosin, made with hay bales. This should be quick and easy. Ready? Head in and two steps take a left, walk forward four paces.... Killakeeth worked to map out the correct path for her rider to follow. Hold there a moment, while I check on this. After a moment she came back to her rider. Oh dear they tried to be tricky with this. We'll show them.

7. Finally, navigate a hay bale maze. The maze is winding and geometric in patterning and is approximately 6 feet tall.

She laughed. Of course neither of them were old. How about we finish this up and go for lunch? Killa was eating for many now. Vos was sure the dragon was hungry. Even if she wasn't, she hardly ever turned down the chance to eat. A hay bale maze. It was sort of like the winding path at the beginning except with walls. They could do this. She strode forward confidently. Oh? She held her place as Killa worked. When the dragon came back to her attention she was brimming with confidence.

Oh we have this Vosin, gloated the dragon. Vos tilted her head, direct me oh powerful one. She giggled as the instructions came quickly. Straight, left, right, two lefts. Head up it was almost like she could see where she was going. Right up until she careened off the side of one wall. Ugh let me know when I'm drifting too ok? A face full of hay wasn't what she wanted for lunch. Vosin walked through the exit of the maze and pulled off the blindfold. I'm glad that's over! Well done.

<> And falling in wouldn't be the very worst thing ever, her pride could take a few laughs. Kleos clenched her jaw in determination as her brows knit with concentration. She was not going to fall in. <>
