Well... Everyone else seemed to have this /weird/ idea about talking to the critters and expecting normal human responses (which, he had experienced from Roulette, he supposed...)...
It was still a very weird question for Clancy to ask, though, when he did.
"... What if I asked 'er really bloody nicely not to evolve 'til she learned all them moves?"

Oh... Using the 'dex no doubt...
Clancy actually glanced down at it and pressed something.
"Well, I got 'er know'n' Water Gun. I like that un..." Was Clancy actually properly using his 'dex to review one of his own pokémon's moves? "and I got Tail Whip... Not sure that's any bloody use... Ooh. Says she might learn 'Mud Bomb'... Bomb. I bloody like the sound o' that..." He /was/, and he was looking /ahead/ at the move list... Suddenly his eyes lit up. "'Ey! Earthquake's on 'ere!"

Was he... well, Lex guess that was one way to get Clancy actually involved in training his pokemon. "Earthquake is a good move. If you switch to her evolved form, it will tell you when she could learn that move as a Quagsire."
It was actually heartening.

"Learns it slightly faster as a bloomin' Wooper." Clancy pointed out, carefully pointing at the list he could see, but then pointed further down.
"What's this? Oh! TMs; them's like those dinky capsule things you can use t' teach moves right? Earthquake's one of 'em listed here!"

"TM cost money but they are a way to teach pokemon moves faster or moves they otherwise wouldn't learn." He actually knew what a TM was.. well, close enough. That was good.

"Might as well look at what you have saved and if you can afford to buy a TM if one strikes your fancy. It can take awhile for them to become good at it." Spins had taken to his new move but he had been on the cusp of learning it and web spinning was something very natural for spiders.

"... Wonder what kind o' water TMs I could get f'r Mirc'..." Clancy muttered as Lex mentioned saving up for them, immediately going to have a look.
"Yeah. Lot o' bloody work. They ought to just bloody well train 'emselves 'r summat..."

"Go back to the stone page, there should be something about Mega Stones. I think you have two that can use them." Lex murmured, trying to recall the information. Expensive and useful for what Pokemon could use them.

"Mega stones? They sound bloody awesome..." Clancy remarked, hearing 'mega' in the name and fixating on it.
"Long as I can use one with Mircalla, that's bloomin' well fine and dandy..." He tried to find the section, and frowned, frustrated, scrolling back and forth.
"Eh, so which two? Ya got any?"

"I'm drawing a blank... and no. What I've heard is that they are ungodly expensive." He knew people who had them but he didn't personally have one. "I want to say Colbalt and Mircalla when she evolves?" He couldn't recall exactly. "I don't have any that I know off. "
They were constantly learning things about Pokemon.

Clancy pulled a face when Lex mentioned Cobalt as one of his that could possibly use a mega stone.
"Don't wanna give any to the bloody unicorn dog... She already seems like enough of a pain in the bloomin' arse..." But then he brightened up "Mircalla though; I bet she'd be top notch, bloody awesome with one, eh? She's already gonna be a flamin' marvelous Sharpedo, any bloomin' day now!"

"I'm sure she will be. Though I'm not a fan of their rough skin." Lex could see the use, both in battles and as an evolutionary tactic but that didn't stop him from preferring fur.

"Eh? Why the bloody 'ell not? Damn good defense, 'avin' rough skin, ain't it?" Clancy queried, thinking, once more, in terms of liking things for their 'usefulness', as well as their power, particularly regarding water types. He couldn't quite imagine 'not' being a fan of something a powerful and useful water type had.
He was also, apparently, starting to get a little grumpy, though given his usual attitude it could well be hard to tell; perhaps it was tiredness, another trait, then, that Clancy happened to share with a toddler- get tired, get grumpy.
