The vein had slowed down with giving out minerals, but Rota was still getting coal, and that what mattered in the extreme long run. Without coal, he could not smith, no matter what. He Gathered up the useable materials and continued to bring his pick down, expanding the walls around him more and more as minutes turned to hours. He was astounded that his muscles still weren't getting tired, but that could easily have been the adrenaline talking. He was finally achieving a goal he had in mind, and he was very close too. he just needed more coal, that was it. iron was really ice, and the more the merrier, but coal was the limiting factor here at the end of the day.

The vein had dried up. Rota was content with that. A vein that was so lucrative was rare enough, so he didn't mind the rather abrupt end to it. All that mattered now is showing some faith in his mine to guide him to the materials he needed. His pick moved with the rate of a heart beat as he dug his way through the earth and stone, ever on the lookout for coal. Rota felt the sound reverberate off of the mineshaft walls, ever resounding with the pulse of the ores.

As Rota had hoped, the Mountain had once again lead him to the object of his desire. He had found more usable coal. If his math was correct, all he needed was four more pieces and he could make all that he intended to at this time...but a little bit of an excess couldn't hurt any, could it? He put that thought on the back burner and continued his work through the stone, pleased that this was going so well. Rota could barely contain his happiness at this expedition. it had become his most successful yet, and he wasn't even finished.

The mine continued to guide Rota to His goal with each passing minute. He was one step closer to the bare minimum of what he needed to get his work done. As he mined, he pondered what the optimum way to go about the smithing would be, but he would cross that bridge when he came to it. for now, he would focus on the task at hand. The mine had shown mercy to him so far, there was no reason to doubt that it would continue to show that same kindness still. However there was that nagging doubt. At any moment, whatever gods of fortune were out there could revoke their influence and leave him stranded amongst a pile of stone once more. He had to keep at it while fortune was on his side.

No meager hiccough in the operations could slow Rota down at this point. He pressed on, pick in hand and determination in his heart. There was a light at the end of the tunnel, and the tunnel was made of coal. Not the most practical of building material mind you, but constructed of it nonetheless. Rota briefly gazed back at his progress, and he had gone about ten feet into this new branch of his mine. For how short it was, certain miners would have killed to have such a tunnel. That is why at the end of the day, he supposed he could be proud of what he had found so far. He continued to mine, feeling more resolute in his decision for the location of his mine, and for deciding to keep with it even when it spited him.

Another minor setback. Rota still had faith in his mine and knew that it could provide what he needed. He just needed to have patience and continue on his way. he was close, so very very close. Three more pieces if his math was correct. Rota took a moment to try and feel the earth once more, and he was still getting the same feeling as before. Whatever he felt at the beginning of this expedition was still there, and he intended to find it. This was now a sub goal. His main interest was the Coal, but he also wanted to find whatever he was feeling in the stone.

Rota had found yet another massive vein. He was glad that his trust hadn't been misplaced. He gathered some of the materials, wondering if this was what he had sensed in the stone. He had no way of knowing just yet, but he persisted under the assumption that whatever it was had to be this. He hadn't run into any reason that it wouldn't be. If it wasn't...what secrets did this mine keep locked away out of his sight? How could he find them, and when? His pick continued its energized rhythm as he pondered what this all meant going forward.

As Rota's pick came down once more, he found just enough coal to do what he required. He was on cloud nine as he placed the final piece he needed with the rest. Now was time to build up an overstock of materials. If he made mistakes during smithing, or his math was off, he didn't want to be screwed. Rota brought his pickaxe back up and returned to the latent rhythm that the mine resonated with now. He contemplated finding a way to bring some light sources in here since while he had acclimated himself to the dark, it would help to have some more visibility.

The Mine was swiftly becoming the gift that keeps on giving. Rota stored away another piece of Charcoal as he continued to burrow farther into this mountain. He still couldn't shake the feeling that he wasn't finding what he was sensing, but he decided to ignore it. The coal was what mattered now. Rota had found a good wealth of materials this time, and very evenly balance, save for the stone which was never escapable. He probably had enough materials to make what he was planning in this mining session ALONE. That felt really good, and he decided that for one good feeling, deserved another.

The vein of coal just kept on giving. This was fantastic. Rota was elated that he gave this mine the second chance it deserved, for it was giving him everything he needed. He wasn't finding as much ores anymore, but Coal was quintessential in smithing, so a stockpile was more than necessary. The Demon continued his assault on the walls of his mine, now a sizable way into the new branch. If only he had truly branched out sooner, he might have had a more successful time. Then again, he had to clear a lot of depth of stone to get to where he was now, so the jury is still out on that one. Regardless, The coal kept coming, and his spirit lifted higher and higher with each successive piece.

Well all good things must come to an end, as they say. The vein had given Rota much of what he needed, but he doubted that the entire mine was done with it generosity. Dry spells had happened before. He still wanted a stockpile in reserve for later use. about 15-20 coal would do the trick, he just needed to give his blood, sweat and tears to the mineshaft. So far, he had pretty much given all three. his arms were still feeling rather fresh from all the manual labor. maybe he just didn't get tired. Is this what being a Half-Demon entailed? Endless Endurance? He didn't know, but he was bound to find out eventually. maybe the figure shrouded by light would know. Rota needed to get better. he needed to be worthy enough to stand in that expanse of white and get the answers he was looking for.

As if the being of light was guiding him, Rota found yet another mother lode. it had to be destiny that this was going so well. Was the figure a god? it had to be. It knew more about this world than he did, and had the power to warp him to different locations. Rota wondered if the Figure had touched others' lives as his was. If so, it was a Figure Of Light Leading Everyone. He didn't know what this meant. The demon puzzled this as his pick swung more to uncover more secrets locked away in the rock.

The good times continued to roll. Rota felt at home in this mine now, like it was a part of him. It had so many gifts to give, and was,as of now, willing to give them in earnest. He didn't get any useable coal that time, but he was patient. He pressed on, honoring the mine by continuing to extract the raw minerals concealed within. How could Rota object to a gift? he continued to ponder the true nature of the Figure. Was it benevolent? Malevolent? Impartial? He didn't know. Did anyone else? Maybe Alyx knew something about the Figure Of Light Leading Everyone that he didn't. Or maybe he was crazy. Time would tell.

The Figure HAD to be Benevolent. How else would Rota be finding THIS MANY mother lodes. He had to be close to something important. There was no way all of this was random chance. Rota felt more than ever that there was something to find in this mountain, and he had to be the one to find it. his pickaxe came down with intensified vigor, and he cleft stone after stone in two in his attempt to find whatever was hiding from him. The Figure was guiding his actions. This had to be a sign.

Once more, the vein dried up. Such a plentiful vein could not last forever, and Rota was glad that it lasted as long as it did. He continued to hollow out the mountain as the Figure intended. He still had not yet found whatever was hiding in the mountain, after all. He had a plentiful stock of coal,so if he didn't get any more, he was satisfied. Rota however would NOT be satisfied until the secrets of the mountain were fully revealed. He pressed on, hoping to find more coal, iron, and whatever secrets were left to discover.
