JJ was confused by Alex's sleeping statement. "I don't live with him..." he tried to explain, but Alex was asleep again. He'd find out eventually, but JJ wasn't going to risk taking the boy home with his father just barely being back. Make a good impression and all that. He stood carefully, this time cradling Alex to his chest bridal style. He carried Alex to the car, but didn't have the other's keys to get in. He had no choice but to wake Alex up. "sweetie?" he asked, "i need your keys if i'm going to get us home."

JJ took the keys and started the car, "It'll get home in one piece, I promise." he carefully pulled out and drove them to Alex's place. He wasn't going to take the boy to his own home when he wasn't awake enough to make a cohesive decision. he parked in the same spot the truck had been in before and got out to take Alex inside. He carefully took Alex out of the car and carried him inside. He wasn't sure where Alex's room was and looked for someone to tell him, not wanting to leave the sleeping boy in the living room or wake him up again to ask him.

JJ showed Lilith the keys in his hand, "It isn't breaking in when you're given the key." He kept his voice soft, but was loud enough to be heard. "Glad to hear that i'm not going to be facing the death sentence just yet." he frowned about hearing how Alex didn't like storms. if he managed to get the other to sleep, despite that, shouldn't he stay to keep him content? But he really really felt staying the night would be a baaaad idea. "i love the artwork," he said as he carried Alex in and gently placed him onto the bed. JJ placed the keys on the desk and gently removed Alex's shoes so he could tuck him in. He wanted to give Alex a kiss on the forehead, come on, who could resist that amazingly cute sleeping face? he resisted the urge and stepped away. "Thanks Lilith." he pulled one of his cards out of his inner pocket and crossed out the front part before turning it over and writing out his personal cell number. "Could you make sure he gets this?" he asked as he put the card on top of the keys. "i'm heading out. have a good night." he smiled and nodded before heading for the front door. he needed to get a couple hours of sleep before dealing with his father in the morning.

JJ shrugged, "i've driven in worse. sleep well, Lil'." he ran to his car to avoid getting too soaked and drove home slowly, careful of the rain. He took a shower once he got home and went to bed. He didn't sleep well. Lilith's comment on how Alex usually can't sleep during a storm causing him to toss and turn in worry whenever there was a flash of lightning. Thank compiled with a slight ache in his arms, a feeling of them being empty made sleep an illusive mistress. he 'woke up' more tired than he'd been when he went to bed.

JJ dress and went to work on autopilot. he got to his office and hoped his father wouldn't both with him for today. he got his work done quickly, finalized the contract with the company for the night before before signing it and sending a copy to the company for them to read and sign. everything was going well until the last hour of work. he'd finished everything he could do for now and was fiddling with a few things here and there when he got the dreaded call to his father's office. JJ sighed and walked to the room, prepared for whatever his father had to yell at him for today.

"You asked for me-?" he started to ask before the wind was knocked out of him. he bent over, his hand on his stomach from where his father's fist had connected. he coughed for breath, leaning against the closed door, and watched his father calmly walk back to his desk. "having a good day?" he asked sarcastically. he dodged the glass ashtray just in time, it shattered against the door where his head had been. "I'll take that as a no..." he muttered as he slowly straightened, "did you actually want something or just your usual punching bag?"

His father finally looked at him, disgust on his face, "A&C Incorporated contacted me about you. Said you were the reason they chose to join our company instead of our competitors. They want you to work with them directly. So how many of them did you sleep with to make them so 'fond' of you?"

JJ sighed, "i'm not bothering to answer that since you wouldn't believe me anyways, If that's all, i'd like to go contact my new client. keeping up the good 'boy appearance' and all that." JJ turned to open the door when his father's voice made him freeze.

"F*cking f*g."

JJ took a small breath and left, hurrying to his own office where he could shut the door and break down in safety. he knew what his father thought of him, but having it voiced still hurt. "Dammit," he muttered, wiping away the tears that were forming in his eyes. "a*****e." he contacted A&C before closing down for the day. he was leaving half an hour early, but he didn't care. he just wanted to see alex. wanted to hug him and hide in him arms while forcing thoughts of his father out of his head. JJ took off his suit coat and tie in the car before driving to the cafe. he checked his face to make sure there was no trace of his crying earlier before he walked inside and waved, "Can i sit in Alex's area?" he asked, know the boy was probably working.

JJ let himself be taken to his seat and waited, hoping that Nina was getting off soon, she looked tired. He smiled when he heard Alex walking up to him. Of course he noticed that JJ looked tired, "So do you, love. Couldn't sleep very well, Lilith mentioned you don't like storms when I brought you home and i worried about you..." he gently ran his knuckles along Alex's cheek, "for good reason it seems." he leaned forward to touch his boyfriend's cheek, but it cause him to press his stomach into the table and he struggled not to wince as it irritated the bruise forming there. "As for bothering you," he continued, "I was wondering what time you get off tonight. maybe we could watch a movie?" he was hopeful, but realistic. they couldn't spend every night together, no matter how much he wanted to.

JJ nodded, "that would be nice if it was ok with everyone. i'll even help you cook." Alex was acting a little strange, rubbing his cheek as if he were trying to wipe something off. "Something on my-" he stopped when Alex started speaking of his father and asked why he'd moved from the table. "You're damned observant, you kno-uh" his question was interrupted by Alex suddenly jabbed his stomach. JJ curled in on himself and tried to get away from Alex's hand, a arm covering his stomach to protect it. It took him a second to be able to speak again, "Ok. was hoping i would be able to keep that one from you."

"No examining me out in the middle of the cafe, i'll let you see later...just, can i sit here until the end of your shift?" he leaned towards Alex and put his head on Alex's stomach, "I'll be good and stay quiet. I just wanted to see you." he was being completely honest. just seeing Alex had made him feel better, new ache in his stomach and all

JJ was more than a little surprised when he was firmly told he was going to be taking a nap, in Alex's room non the less. "yes, ma'am" he said as he was pulled up. truth be told, he really could use a nap, but so could Alex. "how long is your shift? i don't mind waiting for you, you're tired too." he half argued as they walked upstairs. he'd moved his arm and was holding Alex's hand now. "what about your father? won't he be angry if he finds me in your bed?" they walked into alex's room and JJ looked around, interested, "really, i'm fine. this is the worse he's done in a while now, normally he just ignores me. it's not nearly as bad as it was when i was living with him..." he sat on Alex's bed when directed. "not how i imagined getting in between your sheets," he half teased, trying to lighten the mood some. he felt as if he'd done something bad by not telling Alex right away, but he didn't really have a chance. that compiled with years of hiding his father's abuse made it so the only people who knew were himself, his father and now alex. sure, the doctor he occasionally had to visit probably suspected, but they didn't know who. JJ's mother knew, considering she'd join in whenever her latest lover dumped her. "Sorry," he said softly, "didn't mean to upset you."
