Chrysoar filled his friend's lead and grinned, "Hi there! Nice little watering hole they have here, right?" he asked and flipped back one of his wayward curls. "So," he added nervously. "Do you come here often?"

"Hello," Xara said somewhat shakily. "I'm just passing through the area, actually." She shifted her weight between her hooves. "So, I've never really been here before, but it does seem nice." She moved forward in the conversation to an area she felt more comfortable, "I'm sorry, I couldn't help but hearing a little of what you two said across the water. I understood that someone may have been hurt? I'm a bit of a healer, if there's anything I can do to help anyone I freely offer my services?" she waited to listen for their response.

"We can hope," Vyrikyr replied and glanced across the water to see the pink stallion still going at. "Some never learn..."

"Uh, Silverwing?" Rio prompted waving his hoof in front of the stallion's face. "You've been quite, for like, a while. You okay there?"

Silverwing snapped out of his daze and looked back to the stallion, "Uh, yeah, sorry. Just lost myself in some quasi disturbing thoughts. Nothing too out of the norm." He looked around and saw that pinky and the pain had moved across the water to bother some girl on the other side. "Are we seriously the only guys that can't find a date tonight?"

"Gregor think they are going no where fast," the water stallion noted.

"You seem like the type that's traveled a lot too," Amaranth ventured. "Or at least you've seen a lot, there's....a feeling of experience with you."

Lori managed to hide his cringe at Chrysor's less than smooth pick up line. He'd have to work with his friend on that later. In response to the mare's inquiry, he glanced toward the viper-mare and Rynga. "No... I don't think anyone's hurt. Ah..." he looked toward the orange mini who... seemed to be amusing himself with a purple stallion. When had he gotten here? Ah well. "The pain you must have heard about was in regards to the heart."

Rynga followed her gaze and forced his smile from his face, shaking his head in disappointment. "No, some never do... What did he do to you, anyway?" he asked, curiously. He had the feeling he may have asked already, but he couldn't recall. "That level of animosity is beyond a botched round of flirting... Not that it's any of my business, of course."

"They're making great time, though," Juan snickered. "This is great, though. It's like watching wild idiots in their natural habitats..."

Pinzin sighed and nodded his agreement. Oh yes, he's been far and wide, whether he liked it or not. Of course, that had mostly to do with the idiots that had decided to attach themselves to him like leeches. He glanced to where he had last seen them, mostly to make sure they weren't causing too much trouble... and didn't find them. Fear streaked through him until he spotted them across the river, talking to yet another mare. He glowered at them. I hope she impales you, he thought viciously at them. Idiots.

"Oh," she said softly, "Some of the worst pain of all and sadly a type I have little sway over. I'm sorry," Xara looked around again at the various faces of the watering hole engaged in conversation, talking and laughing. It really seemed very nice in a way. "This really is a very busy place, isn't it?"

Vyrikyr shrugged, "Fall out from him being overly annoying and...it's not important." She eyed up the red and white stranger, "So what type of game are you trying to pull?" She nodded back to where Silverwing was pouting beside Rio, "You and your friends don't exactly have discrete voices...and it doesn't seem like anyone won that bet."

Gregor shrugged and replied, "Little about this seems natural. Too many trying to put on act and seem...how you say, like big shot? Maybe little brown one here is natural" he said nodding at Rio.

The stallion for his part, pouted and muttered, "I can hear you, you know. You are still pretty much right next to me..."

A little distance away, hidden by the tree line, a mare folded back her feathers and looked at her traveling companion in a serious fashion, "Nemesis, I'm not joking this time, where is the next closest watering hole?" She gaped at the condor when he again indicated the overly crowded pool ahead of them, "In the very short time I've been here it's been made pretty clear that I don't want anything that that lot out there is drinking. Have You been listening to them, Nem? They. Are. CRAZY! The whole bunch of them. You can't tell me that sort of thing just happens. There's got to be something in that water." She tried to swallow but honestly her throat was just too dry. They'd been traveling all day, flying across the lands. It was her first time out from under her parent's watchful wings and she ready to see the world and make the most of it. And she'd already seen enough of this little portion of the world. But she wasn't going to make it too much further if she didn't get a drink soon. "Okay..." she started slowly. "We're going to go out there, and get a drink. You Nem, just be your normal charming self...that should take care of everything." The peacondor was notorious for having a bad attitude. Edea was still shocked the haughty bird had taken a shine to her. But the rule was she couldn't go off unaccompanied and once Nem had attached himself to her that was no longer a concern. The bird had a nasty habit of going for the eyes of someone that threatened him or worse, something he saw as his. "There's no way this could go wrong..."

Silverwing looked up at the sound of the bushes shifting and moving behind him. He couldn't believe his eyes. "Well, ask and you shall receive," he muttered taking in the sight of a stunning angeni stepping into the light. "Rio, I think our luck's about to turn around tonight," he muttered straightening himself up to go talk to her. A dark flash to her side made him hesitate as he saw a brightly colored condor take up position beside the angelic figure. He shrugged, put on his best smile, and stepped forward. What's the worst thing a little bird could do to him?

"I'm sorry," Amaranth said softly. "You don't seem to be enjoying your travels as much."
PostPosted: Sun Jan 10, 2016 10:52 am

"It certainly seems so," Lori agreed, cheerfully. He nudged Chrysor to try and get his friend to speak more.

Rynga laughed sheepishly. "There was no bet, really," he answered. "It was simple curiosity, over what had transpired between you and the strawberry... My friends thought that you would flay me alive for daring to say hello. I thought you would be more reasonable, and wouldn't attack an innocent bystander. Given as I've asked and you've declined to answer, yet my skin is still intact..." he shrugged. "Though, I admit, I did have an ulterior motive to coming over to talk to you. I hate seeing a lovely lady so upset, and I was hoping having a bit of an outlet would help you calm down and feel better... did it work?" he gave a hopeful smile.

"A natural something," Juan agreed. "And what is life if not a stage on which to act like something you're not?" He started humming a tune.

Pinzin huffed slightly and shook his head, brushing away her apology. It wasn't her fault that he had gotten saddled with the world's two biggest morons.

Chrysoar coughed and shifted nervously between his hooves. If he was being entirely honest, was probably one of the prettiest he had ever seen. And in his travels he'd seen a lot. Didn't talk to too many, but he had seen a lot. But she was different from the other mares Lori dragged him over to talk with. For one, she looked almost as nervous as he did (which was saying something). She also didn't look at him like he was some icky thing that got stuck to her hoof. Actually she wasn't looking at either of them a whole lot, almost trying to look anywhere else but at them. He knew that game well, he did that when he was struggling to come up with something to say. He could sing song, dance, entertain his friends and such all day, but put him in front of a mare and it was game over. But did it half to be? He flashed a grin and stated, "It's pretty nice alright, but it's a little quite for my taste. We need some music! Wait, wait - I need a good beat! I will be right back!" The light of foot stallion blurred around the pool to Pinzin, "Hey, hey, hey - big guy, hey. I need a beat! You got the best rhythm of anyone in our group so I need a beat. So, come on, help a buddy out?"

Xara blinked as the golden male streaked around to the other side of the water. "Well, he's certainly, energetic?" she looked to his companion questioningly. "Are we meant to follow him, do you think?"

"Of course," Vyrikyr said dryly not entirely believing the whole of the stallion's statement. "And honestly it does me more good to see Amaranth talking with others, she's been too reserved, especially with men. but what is He up to?" she wondered aloud eyeballing the golden eyesore that had been Lori's companion.

Before he could even open his mouth the over sized chicken squawked at him and made a flying leap towards his face. "Gah!" he dodged and felt one of the talons claw his cheek. It was a glancing blow, but enough to draw blood. He winced feeling the strain of the skin separating. Right on his cheek too, that was going to make talking a pain. "Here I thought fair maidens were guarded by dragons!" he spat shaking out and trying to regain his composure and get eyes on the psycho bird.

Edea cringed a bit, true she didn't really want to be bothered as she got her quick drink, but she didn't think Nem would go after someone for just trying to talk to her. Suddenly her father's willingness to let her go with the bird was made all the more obvious for what it was. "Nemesis, a guy talking to me is not a threat," she hissed under her breath. To her complete shock the bird huffed and let out a low growl at the stallion. "Oh for the love of," Edea roller her eyes and whispered to the bird. "I can handle one or two wayward stallions. WE can not go gouging eyes out whenever we feel like it!" SHe sighed as the bird preened his feathers in an unconcerned response, "Okay, YOU can not go gouging eyes out whenever you feel like it. Doing that makes you no better than..." She trailed off spotting the iced stallion with the newfound gash on his face staring at them. "I am...so sorry for him," she started slowly.

Amaranth blinked and looked between the golden stallion who had come to beg Pinzin's help and the blue stallion a little ways off who was now injured.

Lori watched his friend take off, wondering what was going through Chrysor's head right now. He flashed a reassuring smile at the mare next to him. "If he had wanted us to follow him, he would have said as much," he assured her. "We... should probably stay here." It would likely be safer.

"Nothing good," Rynga answered Vyrikyr, frowning as dread filled him at the sight of the golden stallion. The sound of his friend's yelp yanked his attention over to silver wing and... quite easily the most beautiful mare he had ever seen before. He stared. "Um.... I... should go check on my friend.... Ah..." but he couldn't just abandon the mare he was talking to. He forced herself to give her a questioning glance. It was on his tongue to ask if she'd be alright by herself. He quickly caught himself, realizing that she was clearly a strong, independent lady. She wouldn't appreciate that question. So instead, he just gave a polite, "Excuse me."

"Oooh, new players!" Juan whispered, eyeing these newcomers with interest.

Pinzin stared at Chrysor, dismissing the chaos happening not too far away as not his problem. He didn't know the blue stallion or the mare he was talking to. He wasn't going near that vicious bird. So, that just left the golden dimwit in front of him asking for... a... beat? I'll give you a beat, he though, giving a soft, annoyed growl. I'll beat your head in.

"Oh no," Xara Jayne gasped watching the violence unfolding across the water. "I'd better go any help, I'm sorry," she said quickly back to the pink stallion and added in an attempt to be polite. "Um, excuse me!" She spread her wings and leaped into the air above the water and flapped a few times ensuring she touched down, though perhaps not in the most graceful manner on the opposite side of the pool. There she hesitated. Yes, she wanted to help the injured stallion but the bird was still looking irate at anyone that approached and...well she really wouldn't be a very good healer if she couldn't see her patients. "Oh dear," she whispered softly.

Chrysoar blinked at the scuffle, "Suddenly it no longer seems like the time for music. Thanks though, buddy, I know you would have had my back!" With that the stallion trotted over to the side of the alicorn who had appeared on this side of the water. He wasn't really sure what he was going to do next, but it made more sense to him to be near her.

"Is good," Geregor replied. "Was almost drifting off to sleep in boredom."

Silverwing was still trying to process the fact that he'd been mauled by a bird. He had no carnivore blood in him, but suddenly chicken was sounding like a pretty good addition to the menu. "What's his problem?" he demanded, maybe a little more harshly than he should of as confirmed by the pain he felt in his face.

"He's got a bad attitude," Edea replied quickly trying to place herself between the bird and the growing crowd. "And this is the only watering hole for miles..." she muttered to herself giving the bird a firm nudge with her hoof. "Enough Nemesis!" she growled under her breath. "We're not here to pick a fight with everyone we meet, we just need to get a drink, so good back to preening your feathers and looking overly concerned with your appearance and we'll get out of here just fine." Really, she'd meant for Nemesis to step in if some of these idiots had tried to mob her or something. Not just for looking at her. They would be having a very serious talk at some point.

Vyrikyr carefully followed the stallion regarding the condor with concern. She hadn't seen many of the bird up close, only from a distance while on her flights. But this one looked seriously angry.

Amaranth gasped at the growing crowd, "Oh dear, this doesn't seem good. An your friend," she nodded at the golden stallion. "He...he is perhaps not all there, is he?"

Lori blinked, suddenly finding himself alone. This was... erm... unexpected. After a moment of floundering he finally started to make his way around the river again to reattach himself to his friend's side.

Rynga reached his friend just in time to hear the angel's explanation. She seemed displeased with her familiar. Keeping a cautious eye on the bird, he nudged Silverwing. "You okay?" he asked, quietly. Silverwing didn't look like he was badly injured, but it wasn't like the wind stallion to get snippy.

Juan chuckled.

Pinzin snorted at Amaranth's generous description of Chrysor.

"Fine,"Amaranth laughed and amended. "He is remarkably foolish. "But he seems to have a good heart down there somewhere."

"I just had a chicken claw up my face," Silverwing hissed trying hard not to move his mouth too much. "So no, I'm not doing great!"

"He's a condor," Edea said with some annoyance as she now had to move to keep the increasingly irritated bird from going up for round two. At this point she was working to keep Nem back by spreading both sets of wings creating a barrier between him and the stallion, "And if you could stop aggravating him, that would go a long way right about now..."

"I'm aggravating him?" Silverwing yelped then yelped again in pain as his mouth stretched the scratch.

"Oh dear," Xara said stepping lightly through the crowd unaware that the golden stallion moved to shadow him. She approached the injured stallion carefully, "Hello, my name is Xara, I'm a healer. Please just let me help you real quick," she glanced back and saw that the angeni mare was still managing her familiar. "You know what, why don't we step over here," she led slowly to a small patch of cleared ground several yards from the angry condor. "Right now a little distance might go a long way too," she did add the last part "to deescalate the issue" out loud.

"Um, here," Chrysoar said flanking the injured stallion and trying to help him over to the area Xara indicated all the while muttering under his breath, "Don't worry little birdy, no one's going to hurt you..."
PostPosted: Sun Jan 10, 2016 1:09 pm

Deep...deep....DEEP down, Pinzin thought with a soft huff.

Lori put himself between Chrysor and the angry condor. He considered saying something but ultimately decided that he liked his handsome face just the way it was, and not clawed all to hell.

"That's a good idea," Rynga agreed, edging between the mare and his friend. "Let the lovely healer see to you. I'm sure you'll be fine... scars are very attractive now." Okay, so that last bit was added just to needle his friend. Silverwing would see the humor in this once he wasn't bleeding anymore.

Edea gasped as Nemesis ducked beneath her wings and leaped back to get one more good hit on the stallion, for good measure, she was sure he thought. She tried to move to intercept him especially since the icy stallion was out of reach and instead Nem's talons were prepped to rake the face of a pink stallion with a billowing feather cape. This adventure of hers was not off to a great start.

The silent Vyrikyr chose that moment to step forward and gently (or at least as gently as she could manage in the moment) hit the bird back down with her long, braided tail. "Sorry," said by way of sincere apology to the mare as she watched the stnned bird attempt to lift himself off the ground. "Had to be done. When's the last time he's eaten? Could be an issue of a sugar imbalance....or something."

"No hard feelings here," Edea said nudging the condor gently and trying to help him back to his feet. "No guarantees from this one, oh no," she gasped as Nemesis squacked in pain and fell back to the ground clutching at one wing with the other. "Ugh, I'd say it serves you right for being such an instigator but now what do we do, there's no way you can fly like this..." She nuzzled him gently, trying to be comforting and not for the first time in her life cursed the kalona heritage that tainted her veins. Her mother, an angenicorn could have healed Nem with no problem, but her kalona blood kept her from achieving such feats.

"Ha," Silverwing huffed with some satisfaction until his cheek began hurting again. Shouldn't the pain be starting to ease up by now? he wondered.

Xara Jaybe sighed and went about digging out some small healing herbs from the pouch she always carried. "Give me just a moment Miss, I'll look to him next," she called over as she helped the stallion to lie down on the grass. "You'll both be right as rain in no time."

Chrysoar for his part was looking back and forth in shock between the healer who suddenly appeared to be calm, in control and radiant, the fire breathing mare who was suddenly icy cool under pressure, and his best buddy, "Lori...you almost died. Or...you know, lost an eye or something..."
PostPosted: Sun Jan 10, 2016 4:49 pm

"He wouldn't have killed me," Lori scoffed, unconcerned. He was, however, worried about the tensions that were beginning to rise... and the fact that Vyrikyr seemed to have defended him. He inched a bit away from her as subtly as he could.

Pinzin eyed his companions, wondering if he could take this opportunity to get them all out of there before one of them lost an eye.

Rynga rolled his eyes at Silverwing. That was real mature. Take pleasure in a condor's pain... though... he couldn't really blame his friend. After all, those talons looked sharp... "Ah, perhaps we could all let the lady get to the river so she can drink in peace?"

"Yeah, but he totally could have messed up your face and without your good looks..." Chrysoar stopped mid sentence. "You know what, never mind." And he promptly turned to the healer, "Is there anything I can do to help?"

"Hold these," Xara said without missing a beat and set up the golden stallion with her various herbs. "I'll need the green one first." She caught the look of confusion on the stallion's face and added, "The crispy one, it makes a faint crunching sound." She applied the herbs to the injured stallion's face one by one then focused on her horn, willing her powers to help them with the healing process. She had found through experimentation that this combo approach was her best bet to help others though she often wished she had more unicorn blood in her veins, it would make this so much easier.

"Thank you, but I'm not very thirsty at the moment," Edea replied distracted. It wouldn't really help to add that in his injured state Nemesis was all the more dangerous. She knelt down on the ground beside him trying to assess the damage for herself.

"Aw, you do care for them," Amaranth noted softly following her companion's gaze. "At least enough to not want them maimed too much."
PostPosted: Sun Jan 10, 2016 5:23 pm

Lori considered acting peevish about the implication that he was nothing more than a pretty face. He let it go, however. He really didn't mind being thought of as just a pretty face. He watched what Xara was doing, curious.

"Regardless, I'm sure your bird would be happy if we weren't crowding you."

Pinzin would have coughed in embarrassment if he could have. As it was, he looked away sheepishly. He didn't care. Nope. Not him. He would be happy if the idiots would just croak and leave him alone. Yep.

"Ow, ow," Silverwing muttered out of the opposite side of his cheek only to get a swift rap from the healer. "Hey!" he yelped.

"Stop whining and hold still," Xara chided still going about her business. "If you keep moving while it's trying to heal it will take much longer. Now hold your piece and your tongue so I can finish my work."

Chrysoar had long been stripped of all the healing herbs she had given him, but he still wanted to make himself useful, "Is there anything else I can do to help?" Anything at all?

"Hmmm," Xara considered before replying, "Maybe tell him a story, take his mind off things while I work?"

"Don't worry," she said softly. "You're secret's safe with me. But while we're sharing secrets, I'm going to add that I think it's very sweet. And the spirits know they need it."

"That...might be helpful, yeah," she said shaking her head as the bird began to growl again. "I think you've done quite enough for one day, Nem. Take a break...."
