brownie bites
"Oh, several here and there," said Chance, with a lazy wave of his hand. "I like to make people bring me food, so there is that," he added, winking at Peyton. "So far, though, these brownies and some pasta that Claude brought me have been the best, I'm just saying."
His eyebrows rose; a smile touched his lips, faint and yet strangely amused.
"Books would be good," said Chance. "I like reading, but I'm afraid I don't have too many, in spite of my previous occupation before coming to the island. Travel light, and all that."

"Relax," said Chance, giving Oliver a pointed look. "You look like a rabbit ready to flee at any minute. I'm not gonna do anything to you, so just relax."
Clearly he was indicating that incident from the last time they'd seen each other. Chance didn't particularly care; it had just been one little kiss and it had been out of a desire to shut Oliver up more than anything else; an attempt at shocking him out of crying.
It had worked surprisingly well. Chance smiled. "So far I'm healing up pretty nicely, I think."

Chance snorted. "That," he said, "is a far off reality, seeing as how I haven't even made it to an Intermediate hunter yet. But your faith in my abilities is certainly touching, Claude, I do appreciate your candor."
He smiled winningly at her, and would have batted his eyes like an innocent puppy, but it came off more of a smirk than anything else, because Chance was nothing if not not innocent.
"Why not both?" he said airily. "Isn't that the whole point of pirating? Sail the seas, get treasure, get laid, sounds piratey to me."

turtle dove"I know you'll try." She replied simply. "For the increased off-Island time." Referring back to their conversation on the beach that one night. With a promotion came more days off. "You look like a fox." Claude told him as he smiled at her. "It is...but I do find it amusing you say 'we' in regards to finding me more...'booty'..." This was followed by a soft amused snort. "I'm perfectly capable, thank you." She mused about that for a moment longer. "I'll go out on a limb, and say maybe you'd like sailing for a few days, especially at night, where it's just the sea and no other lights but the stars."

Brownie bitesAt that she'd grin, letting her legs go so she could sit up again. "Are you just saying that so I'll bring you more?" Grabbing the edge of the chair, she'd slid it a little closer to the side of the bed. "There's a library aside from the main library, you know. It's filled with donated books from other avid readers on the island. It's gotten quite large at this point. Kostya maintains it." She'd donated a few of her own books to the collect, and borrowed quite a few. "I could bring you something from there, if you like. Have you read Alice?" A beat, then she'd tack on curiously. "What did you do before the island? If you don't mind my asking?"

girl scouts Felicia laughed, undignified as possible. She ate with great gusto, and not a lot of concern for, uh. Manners. "S-sounds good to me," she chirped, her mouth half full. "That s-sucks! I've only fought a few things in there. The f-first guy I saw was like, s-smoking hot." With a conspiratorial look on her face, she scooted to the edge of her chair, hold her hands up, "I have t-this theory, that like, everyone involved in t-this establishment and b-beyond are like, super r-ridiculously good looking. It's the t-truth!"

"Damn straight," said Chance, and smiled. "More days off means more chances to go and stargaze in the many wonders of the world."
His catlike grin only widened the more Claude poked at his expressions. He did like their banter quite a bit; it was something that was easy, something that both interested and amused him. "What, isn't that what good people do, help each other out in finding the most pleasing things?" he asked airily, Chance waving a hand and wincing, pressing his fingers against his stomach. "And I'm sure you are, even if you've sunk so low as to be that capable with me as well."
Never mind that he'd been the one to initiate and offer things both times, but that was beside the point. Chance turned a starry smile towards Claude.
"That," he said, "is an excellent idea. ******** yes, I would."

"I never say no to more brownies," said Chance, smiling widely at Peyton. "Especially ones as good as these - and remember, I don't lie," he added, winking.
The idea that there were more books he could read other than the scant he'd brought with him was appealing. Chance lowered the hand he was currently using to reach towards the brownies and gave his visitor and inquiring look, eyebrows raised.
"That would be great," he added, this time with a smile that seemed genuine, almost pleased. "I'd be glad of that. And before I came here, I worked at a bookstore."

There was something very entertaining about Felicia. Even just watching her was something of a show; she was just so exaggerated, and in a way that indicated she clearly didn't realize that she was doing it in the first place - which was why Chance found it so amusing.
"What guy was that?" he asked, genuinely curious, and then he stared at her for a moment before he realized that she was actually serious. A slow smile spread across Chance's face.
"What is the basis of your theory?" he asked, in a conspiratorial whisper as he leaned closer.

Brownie bites"So you said." She chuckled, wrapping hands around the guide rail on the side of his bed as she leaned forward a little. "I do have more." Half a pan in fact, if Astrid hadn't gotten into them yet. "That sounds like a fun job." Depending on who you were, of course. Peyton might have enjoyed it, she liked reading. There was something subtly different about the smile he was aiming at her now, and it was impossible not to smile back. "I can swing by later and grab something for you, and come back with more snacks." What came next just sort of snuck out, and that soft wash of rosy color returned. "You should smile, like, all the time. You've got a very nice smile."

His eyes lit up with pleasure. "Well, I'd be glad to take them off your hands, if you're offering," said Chance, and grinned. "Good food is hard to come by around here - or rather, any food that doesn't come out of a packet and has to be microwaved."
A small laugh escaped him. "It was a pretty nice job," Chance admitted. "I didn't do a whole lot there except stand and make sure that people didn't wreak havoc on the shelves - " Like certain short Mist Hunters with volatile tempers. " - but for the most part, it was pretty nice. Very relaxed, very casual."
He had lifted a hand to run it through his curls when she spoke, and Chance's eyes flickered towards Peyton with an inscrutable expression. He slowly lowered his arm and leaned back against the pillows, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
"Thanks," he said lightly. "I have to admit, that's a compliment I haven't yet gotten here on the island. I appreciate it."

Brownie bites"I cook a lot, I guess it's kind of a hobby now." Once she hadn't actually realized she had until that moment. What had once been a means to provide for her sister had turned into something familiar and enjoyable. "But I usually end up with left overs, even with my sister and I eating. I usually pass them out to people. Would you be interested?" A book store did sound like a relaxing job. "It sounds it. I bet you got to read a lot as well." She watched his expression change, hand lowering before he'd even touched fingers to his curls, and she blinked up at him, features open and possibly a little apologetic until he smiled again. Well, it was out now. Might as well own it. "You're very welcome, though I find that surprising. I can't be the only one that's noticed."

turtle dove"That would be stellar." She deadpanned at him. " Good people." She reminded him, to tease, implying he wasn't, but he was. "You can reword that statement to say that's what friends do. Friends don't have to be good people." Claude eyed him as he winced, a brow quirking, before she snorted softly again, though there was no amusement in her tone as she said in earnest: "You're not low." What he also wasn't privy to, was the fact he was the only one on the Island she messed around with thus far. With how toxic the environment could quickly become, she was more guarded when it came to these matters. She certainly wasn't lowering her standards...it was something of trust. She flashed him an 'ok' sign with her free hand. "I'll start looking into it then."

girl scouts She was, in essence, basically a muppet. Felicia excitedly flung herself into any situation, not hesitating to smile or laugh (even when it was, perhaps, inappropriate to do so). And she was absolutely oblivious to her nature, to boot. "Seiji," Felicia said, after a moment of recollection. "He was ******** foxy," she whined. "And what d-do you mean b-b-b- basis!" She gesticulated wildly, at the hottie Dr. Stephen who was passing by and probably regretted the decision to do so, at Chance himself, at the nurses. Solemnly, she continued: "Even the angry ones are h-hotties with b-bodies."

coffee creamers"I'm not going to run in the infirmary," Oliver protested, "it would be really dangerous." He did settle in a bit more comfortably though. For the time being he had actually forgotten about that embarrassing incidence, and it was perhaps the only reason he could still continue the conversation like a normal person. His mental state was all too easy to read on his face, and for the time being not a single impure thought crossed his mind. "I-if you don't mind me asking, what happened?" He asked. Oliver was always a little curious, it was one small sign of his comfort level with Chance that he actually acted on that curiosity.
