Leaving behind the counter Simon went into the museum after the woman told him it was dree. There was a large slab of coal sitting near the front and on the right a few different items about how that slab of coal came to be deep in the earth. It had to do with plant matter under intense pressure and the heat of magma in the core would eventually turn it to coal. Moving to the last display he took note of of different tools from what was used now and in the past along with different types of coal from different regions. When he was done he thanked the receptionist and left.

Entering the Oreburgh Mine he wanted to look into things around here as well. There were several signs with information on it. The first one he came up to stated that there were vents around the town that let steam to escape and fresh air to enter the mine. A small note suggested it was also used to release poisonous gas in the mines. The next sign mentioned that the mine doesn't just extend all under the town but the seafloor as well. Another sign mentioned that the miners used their own Pokemon to help dig out the mine, mostly the Machop evolution line. On the lowest most floor there was a massive slab of stone with several miners well mining away.

Exploring the area Simon thought this would be the best place to find a fossil, then again if there were any they were probably already mined. Checking his Pokenav Simon took note that all of the Pokemon in the area were ones that he didn't have. Not really wanting all of them he might want a Ponyta, a Geodude, maybe a Zubat to get a Crobat one day and maybe Onix for the Mega Evolution of Steelix some day. Walking down one of the tunnels Simon paused hearing a rumbling from around him. If one of the massive rock snakes that could make that sound came out here Simon would be ready and massively over leveled.

Jumping back an Onix burst from the wall, when the tunnel it made came down behind it Simon knew it was a wild one. Removing Hydreigon's Pokeball he threw it into the air it burst open revealing the dragon Pokemon. Hovering there Hydreigon roared and fired a blast of blue fire that was a dragon pulse attack. As the level difference was so much the attack instantly defeated the Onix and Simon threw a Pokeball at the fallen foe.

Before they could discuss more another Onix, a smaller one, came out of the area where the first one had come from. Hydreigon reacted firing off another dragon pulse, since this one was weaker it was defeated with just one blow. The still large rock snake Pokemon fell back in a heap before vanishing off to wherever hurt wild Pokemon went to get healed before being released.

Deciding it would be quicker just to keep Hydreigon out the pair traveled deeper into the mine. As the plaque said back at the entrance to the mine the tunnels reached all over under the area including the ocean. Wondering if they could find a moon pool or something they decided to walk around exploring but not go down too many tunnels so that they wouldn't get too lost. Remembering the Metal Coat he found on the islands he wanted to boost steel attacks but he could also use it to evolve Onix. His thoughts were broken as a Geodude appeared.

Hydreigon was knocking all the Pokemon that appeared out with the dragon pulse. It was an instant kill and he had the chance to catch the fainted Pokemon. Thinking on it though he still didn't want the Geodude evolution line and let the Pokemon be whisked away.

Another Onix reared its head and Hydreigon took it out swiftly enough. There was only a few low level Pokemon around here however it was six of one, half dozen of another. It could be one long battle against a high leveled Pokemon or dozens of lower level battles he was still earning experience for Hydreigon.

For a bit of a difference instead of all of these rock Pokemon a wild Machop appeared. At first he was just going to have Hydreigon beat it and move on but then he remembered that most Machop had the Guts ability and he got that flame orb. Deciding to catch this Pokemon since a strong fighter Pokemon would be good to have he readied a Pokeball after Hydreigon hit it with another dragon pulse.

Reaching out for the Pokeball Simon handed it to Hydreigon who watched it before it vanished. Amazed but happy Hydreigon flapped his wings as they continued down the tunnel. Turning a bend they saw an Onix that didn't look too happy since the tunnel he was heading into seemed to spring a leak. Turning and noticing them this Onix roared and rushed to attack. Hydreigon basically smirked at this.

They turned around and found themselves blocked by another Geodude. Maybe they should just leave the mine since this was getting a bit ridiculous. Hydreigon was blasting away with the dragon pulse clearing the path for them to continue on.

As they moved on the left and right heads of Hydreigon started to fight a little. The main head snapped at them and they returned to normal as an Onix appeared. Even if they fought each other when it came to battle they were focused. If only the future gym battle was as easy as this as the Pokemon down here didn't even get a chance to attack since Hydreigon out sped them too.
