"...tutee?" He worked his mouth, set his spoon down, digging fingers into his eyes and trying to think about how good the privacy of his own bed would be, right now. Or sitting in the library, or even working. Being trapped in one room was eating away at him, slowly. Zeke was obviously not distracting him well enough, but Ever still talked himself into eating.

Slowly.

Pudding. Solids would come later, perhaps.

"Does anyone even use that word?"

Hello Again

For a moment, Ever just blinked at him -- and then around the place, slowly, trying to figure out what to say. He had to chew on the words, figure out his place, how this interaction was meant to go. None of his usual teasing 'charm'.

"...books might be nice. I don't know how much longer they're holding me here..."

Lips pursed as the Mist looked down at the word puzzle, and after a moment he wrote down the letters, shrugging. "I dunno, it fits though. So far."

On a glance up he caught the tail end of that eye rub. He looked tired, wan, but at least he was eating now. That was a large step up from the previous few days. A reminder sat on the tip of the tongue, that Ever could leave when he started eating something a little more solid, but he kept it to himself. Ever had already heard it, numerous times. At this point, Zeke adding to it wasn't going to be helpful.

In fact, it would probably be counter productive, and he'd probably get kicked out of the room again.

"So I see a lot of books, you have your laptop. Is there anything not here that you want or need?" Life had to be going stir crazy. Zeke filled in another word, then twirled the pen between his fingers. "Or anything I can do make your stay more pleasant?" A brow arched, tone not the least suggestive, but there were plenty of things Zeke would do to make things easier on the other man.

"No." It was decisive, sliding toward grumpy again: Zeke hadn't even needed to say anything to leave Ever frustrated and ready to kick him out. Needed some alone time, perhaps. Needed to work through the rest of his pudding and then sit in the bathroom with his elbows on his knees and struggle to keep it down.

It would be white bread, that finally got him out: a technicality that left his infirmary overlords grumbly but consenting. Untoasted dry white bread, pulled apart between his fingers and shoved into his mouth, Ever sarcastically lifting his tongue once he was done to show that he had, really had, swallowed.

Zeke's agreement to keep an eye on him probably had something to do with their agreement, but it was wiser not to tell Ever that.

Hello Again
“Books it is then, and I’ll save you a Healthy dose of Vodka for when you DO get out.” He quirked a corner of his mouth at saving it as motivation to ‘get better soon’ carrot, like there was any choice in the matter.

There were times when he still felt an ache in his chest that was most likely just in his head, but the feeling was still there.

“Stay in here too long and I’ll get America’s help to spice up an iron maiden with dildos rather than daggers. I’m sure you and ah… Zeke could find some creative uses for that.”

“Seriously, hope you feel better soon, I’ll swing back with books, if you have anything particular you want let me know, text or twitter or whatever, alright?”

Hello Again

Ever's reply was a distracted sort of salute, a little quirk of a smile that wasn't entirely convincing, but at the very least would hopefully stop any probing questions. It was likely to be a long time before he'd be willing to talk about anything related to his injury.

"Thompson brought me intense books. Lighter'd be nice." He hesitated, thought about adding something, and then shrugged: sinking into the blankets instead.

Hello Again

“Light it will be then.” He nodded, going through a list of interesting but not heavy or historic reading. He was in part hesitating though for the something that Ever hadn’t said.

“I’ll be back in a bit…” He nodded. “Thompson?” He added tipping his head, the name wasn’t familiar yet, maybe it should have been, maybe he’d heard it in passing but.

“Yeah… no worries mate. I’ll be back with some light books, I swear I won’t bring any tourist guides to New Zealand either.”

Passing

In answer she pulled up her own shirt to reveal a shiny starburst of scar tissue. "Was another hunter, though. Spit me right through with that ******** spear of his." She gave a tight smile that eased to something happier when she dropped the hem and looked at her friend.

"Now you got an excuse to flash your tummy at cute guys though. Getta be all Hey boy, wanna see my scars?" America wiggled her eyebrows suggestively.

Passing

He smiled at her, but it was dimming already, a thought that left him obviously uneasy. Ever shrugged a crooked shrug and scraped a hand up through his hair in a jittery way. At the moment, he didn't want to think of the disaster zone of his stomach.

"No one wants to see that." It wasn't fishing. He meant it. And maybe it was already bugging him.
