A blond head peeked around the tree, and it only took an instant for Lerin to be stricken with the recollection that he'd... never actually met someone so constantly... pale. At least, not up close. Now that he was at the Oban camp, he could see just about any type of person Tendaji had to offer, but that didn't mean all of them were willing to spare him the conversation. In any event, he stared at the wind male, tipping his head and blinking speculatively. "Wow, you're really pretty," Lerin spoke, sounding surprised about it, himself. "I bet you'd be prettier still, if you weren't crying, though."

With a soft groan, Lerin rose to his feet, dusted off his backside, and turned to face the allegedly Wind boy. Whatever had happened must have been quite upsetting, the guy was pretty shaken up. Reaching through the fence, Lerin dabbed his thumb across the stranger's cheeks, wiping away remaining trails of dampness. "There. If you aren't hurt, you shouldn't have anything to cry about. Don't look so sad."

Post 4 (2/2)

Rayolun finished his stick and staggered up to his feet to try it out. Painful still, but better, he thought to himself as he watched the wind boy go running by. The red band on the wrist marked him as a traitor.... probably why he's crying, Rayolun thought cynically. He knew that the boy probably just didn't want to die (coward) or maybe thought that by helping he'd get more food or shelter (if just for himself than a b*****d... if for others than a better reason), he didn't want to judge too soon though. Maybe he was like that Alkidike... and could be of use in escaping since the very public display of him not being trusted meant that maybe the Obans wouldn't keep as careful an eye on him...

"He does have reason to cry." Ray said with a disapproving shake of his head; "That red band marks him as a willing helper for the Obans.. probably why he ran away from that group crying.. Finding out that helping the enemy is making you unwelcome?" Ray was rather amused that this Lerin thought the wind boy pretty.. what man thinks that's a compliment? But if he likes that type he likes that type... Ray gave an inward shrug, though he did wish the boy would stop crying. He did not know how to deal with crying people at all.

He cast an eye around and saw some of the lazy spectators move off instead of watching the captives as if they were animals on show. "But why is he helping I want to know... Got a reason lad?"

"Let's go talk about this.. not outside," Senja muttered as she took tugged on Chal's arm, wanting to get away from the fence where too many Obans could potentially overhear something. Once farther away she looked up at Chal and whispered. "I do have a rope... I stole it when they tried to make me work for them making stuff.... After the few poisons I threw at them, they put me back in here. So I have that to help climb out of the cages... Or to tie up guards with.... That girl mentioned make shift weapons. With that you think we can get some of these people out?" She was certain she could still climb just fine... slower than if she wasn't with child, but it wasn't like she was sedentary yet! Sneaking out of a house she could do... or at least she had done as a child... But this had guards and was a lot more tricky than sliding out a window and sneaking off through the canopy of a tree.

Ete upon hearing Chal's question chittered softly and tugged on his shirt, giving him a nod. She could definitely understand them.. big folk were just silly and too slow to understand her! She did not like this place.. her Senja needed to be gotten out of here!

Senja smiled slightly. "Yeah, Ete can understand us... She'll likely cause more trouble on her own if you just ask if she'll cause distraction. I find it's best to give her free rein in things since she likes doing them her own way."

Nuawahn – Wind Healer (Conscript)
Captured Tents: The World is falling apart

Nuawahn usually enjoyed compliments as much as anybody else, and pretty was one he got a lot. Right now, though, the kind words were all but lost for the time being. Their kindness remained, though, as did the gesture of the shifter. The nice shifter.

He looked up at Lerin, both grateful and hopeless. ”You're nice.” he managed, sniffling, and that was true enough.

The other shifter, though, was not so nice. He made Nuawahn's head hurt with his words.

”Helping the enemy?
Yes, the Obans were bad but he didn't like how that sounded. He didn't like that at all. It made him sound bad.

He wasn't bad. He knew he wasn't bad.

The man had asked, and Nuawahn felt compelled to give an answer. But they had said they would hurt Oggie. They had said they would hurt everybody. And that one man... He couldn't tell anybody. He wasn't supposed to...

His head seared with pain, as it the truth was being pushed out of him. ”They'll hurt him if I don't...” he whispered, as if afraid someone would hear. He leaned against Lerin, feeling unsteady, needing the man's warmth – though unfamiliar – against his own. ”They'll hurt him if I tell...”

User ImageSHALVESTA Post 5
xxxxCaptured Tents

A fierce thankfulness and loyalty filled Shalvesta as both women remained here. Part of her thought Naevius foolish for sticking so close, while another admired her for her dedication and hope to make things better. Ichil staying behind was a surprise, and yet it made her warm to the tips of her fingers, and Shal turned to face her with a smile, quietly relieved. It was still dangerous to settle so close, especially if remaining this way drew the attention of the captives and en flared them - yet leaving Naevius behind seemed ludicrous.

Did Shalvesta think the natives could escape? No. Once Sebastien came through the gate unscathed, she pulled her hand from the blade, and relaxed her stance. But in the world of politics, standing and gazing worriedly at a pit of unruly hostages made people question loyalty - if Naevius disapproved of the general, or the king's, orders - then she could be marked as a dissenter. And even if the king didn't act on it, being related to her, it made her influence in court more tremulous.

And since pointing out the pregnant woman and drawing Naevius' attention to it was partly her fault, Shalvesta felt responsible for it. "At the very least we could step a bit away, or talk amongst ourselves rather than ogle." Shalvesta finally said, instead, doing as she said and swiveling her body so her back was to the pens, and instead facing Ichil and Naevius, along with a view of Sebastien who, silently, had settled in the background. Her eyes locked on him for a moment, but then she nodded, respectfully, thankful for his role in Naevius' charity.

Ethelfleade nodded along as the big shifter brought out some flaws in her plan. She knew it wasn't perfect, but at least there wasn't too many that he brought up. "On archers, I have no reassurance for you. Maybe we can ask the one who caused the disturbance for being a traitor?" She offered. "Prentices should be able to follow directions. I am one after all. For the injured and...uh...pregnant, we'll just have to make sure they're in the middle of the group, or ask others in here if they have any healing abilities. I-" She was about to go on more about a distraction as the pregnant woman took the big shifter into the tents rather quickly, so Fleade smiled softly to herself. At least they seemed on board.

Her gaze moved towards the shifter she recognized from the last battle. He was injured, but he seemed like he had some training so maybe he'd be able to push through his pain. She wandered over to Rayolun and Lerin to listen to their conversation with the questionable traitor, Nuawahn. Fleade was about to echo his question when the other spoke up finally, but was still very hushed. He was saying something to the effect of hurting someone if they tell. "So they're forcing you to help. I would ask how can we trust you but your reaction to the young man over there makes me feel like you're telling the truth. And the fact of the matter is, we need you. I need all of your help." There was passion in her voice but it was contained and still soft as to not be overheard.

She knew her friends were just trying to look out for her but she did wish that they weren't treating her like a piece of glass that could crack at any moment. Sure she might not have an class rank yet but that didn't mean she was totally helpless. With a sigh, Naevius let all of that go since it didn't really matter, they were just concerned about her well being. It was when Ichil asked about her guards that she got a little half smile. "My regular guards were sent to help the army so I had some younger people watching me so it wasn't difficult to skirt by them. I don't think we really have anything to be worried about though." She said honestly.

Sebastien taking up a position a little ways away from her didn't escape her attention. Nor did Shalvesta's obvious relaxing once he was out of the fence. She knew she was lucky to have people around her such as them and she wished there was something she could do to let them know that she appreciated them! Maybe if she just wasn't so headstrong and did what they wanted? She nodded to their request to move away from the fence and advert their attention from them. Instead of facing them head on, she turned to the side so that she could see her friends, Sebastien, and the captives. She wasn't sure if it would really help but if it was what Shalvesta thought then she'd go along with it. "Very well. So tell me, Shalvesta, how are you liking your new rank?" She asked with a larger smile she'd had so far.

Lerin flicked the other Shifter a dirty look out the corner of his eye. There was no reason to say things like that. The guy was obviously distraught enough; he didn't need some stranger demanding answers out of him or accusing him of things (whether they were true or not). Besides, was it really that terrible of a thing to side with the Obans? The Wind man seemed to have a pretty good reason. Hurt someone... Someone important... That was more than Lerin could say for why he was here.

With a sigh, Lerin reached an arm out to wrap around the Wind male. Wasn't his fault they were all in this mess. "Don't worry your pretty little head," he cooed. "I'm not going to throw a fit about it, and I should hope everyone else has the sense not to either. You need to do what's best for you and the person important to you. Don't listen to anyone else."

It was then that they were graced by the presence of a beautiful Ice flower. It was a shame a girl like that was trapped here... Even worse that she seemed so eager to get herself wrapped up in a fight. Lerin certainly wasn't brave enough to. Disappointing that everyone around him was... He hummed out a soft sound of hesitance and tipped his head toward the ground, averting his gaze from her and her impassioned words.

Ichil - post 6

She laughed at Naevius' response. So she had also run from the herd a bit less than officially! At first she hadn't known what to think of the high noble, but now she was seeing some defiant rebellion. Was it easier for Naevius to get away with because of her rank? Ichil was usually met with accusing glares, not casual friendliness. It had been impressive, the way she had ordered that young man into the cage to help. It had ended up slightly dangerous, but it had happened. In fact, said man was fairly painless to look at. She offered him a smile, and then turned back to Shalvesta and Naevius.

"Indeed! The last I had heard you were thinking of becoming a swordswoman, but here you are!"

Sebastian - post 7 (vers point!)

He offered a warm smile to the girl with the braids. It was almost reflexive. When a pretty girl was being nice to you, you were nice back, especially if she looked like she could have you killed. He couldn't imagine bein a part of the noble crowd. Even having run from the noble camp they were grouping together. Then again, people always kept with those they knew. He had sometimes seen the warmly-lit parties they held away from the common crowd, and they never mingled. None except the girl with the braids, of course. He had seen her a few times outside of her noble bearings, but then so too had he seen Naevius.

His attention turned back to the captives then, only briefly. He had not been frightened while inside with them, but there was a point when one had to admit the possible danger of a situation. He'd more readily face a stampeding mammu than than trust someone to not stab him in the back, especially someone his people had wronged. People tended to make blanket assumptions; if one Oban treated them like offal, the rest must be bad as well. It was too bad, really. Hopefully the defiant pregnant woman would take some of the food. She was having to support at least two lives on a prisoner's meal plan.

Chalcedony - fortress
Location: Captured Tents
Post: 6

Chalcedony gave a thoughtful sound when the Ice Tribeswoman admitted that she had no reassurances when it came to archers, "Hm, it's something I'd be able to handle if I had my shield... but I doubt that anyone would be able to sneak it to me so I will have to think of something else." He would need to think on it, even if it meant fighting barehanded if the need arose. He just hoped that they wouldn't have to do that, "We will need to make sure that everyone gathered are on the same page once we are sure of how we want to go about this." It worried him greatly, knowing that so many young people, those who were a similar age to his sons, would be at risk during this escape attempt. He meant to do all he could for them though, it was why he'd come ahead here, to help out those who had been captured.

"I will talk with you again soon." He said in a quiet whisper to her before his fellow Shifter lead him off. He looked over at her as she murmured to him, telling him about the role that she had procured as well as poison that she'd tossed at the enemy earlier. He wasn't sure what he thought about the use of poison, but it was already done so he wouldn't mention it. Instead he found himself considering the rope, "The rope might prove useful if we are to actually go about capturing someone from the Oban Noble house." Binding their hands might keep them from struggling too much... or so he hoped. At the mention of makeshift weapons he said, "We, well I, can do a quick walk around, see if I spot anything we can use for weapons during our escape. Would you like to take a rest with your nephew here while I look around and check on the other prisoners? If we mean to get out of here they will all need to be ready."

When she asked if he thought that they could get some of the prisoners out he gave a nod, "I think it's indeed possible, so long as everyone is ready. That is the most important part, that everyone is prepared and willing to go. I merely worry about those outside our reach." He'd seen the guards lead a Alkidike woman off not long ago, a friend to the Ice Tribeswoman he'd been chatting with. The idea that someone might be left behind didn't sit well with him... but they would cross that bridge when they got to it.

His attention then turned to Ete as she tugged on his shirt and he looked down at her, "Alright, my tiny friend, are you up for a rather big job yourself?" He asked of her, "We need you to cause a distraction. Tip over torches to start a fire, let their beasts loose if you think that you can, anything to make a giant mess that will get the guards to look anywhere but at us." No matter what the sprite was able to do if it could be a distraction then he was all for it. The fewer people right by their prison the better, it would allow them a better chance at getting out of here, "Just be certain to be careful and not to be seen." He added, not wanting to see the sprite sacrificed for this plan to work.

His attention finally turned to the boy he was leading along and said, "You stay here with your aunt, keep an eye on her, keep her safe. I will be back around soon, alright? You need to be strong." He told the boy, patting him on the head in a fatherly manner before he moved to start forward, keeping an eye out for anything that might be useful as a weapon. At this point anything sharp, pointy, and easily concealed would do.

Saraf - prentice
Location: Near the prisoner's cage
Post: 5

Saraf gave a chuckle and a smile when the Oban 'airhead' as he'd called him, gave him a rather rude gesture. It probably shouldn't be amusing to him but it kind of was, mostly because at least him yelling at the other man had gotten him moving. The last thing he wanted to see was to see one of his fellow Fire Tribesmen get his head crushed by that giant Shifter. The man could make as many rude gestures as he wanted if it meant he got out of the makeshift prison sooner then later. Following the man with his eyes he took in where it was that he was heading... then went a little wide eyed, "Ahhh, interesting." So Naevius was here, was she? He'd spent a bit of time with the woman while the army was in Neued and found her to be good company. So that guy was working with her then?

He glanced toward the cage a final time, and toward the Ice Tribeswoman that he'd brought here, before he turned and headed toward where Naevius and her entourage were currently standing. Might as well go and say hello now that he'd seen her, see what she was up to, and offer up his help if she needed him. Not to mention he might want to chat with the one that he'd yelled at, he had nothing against him after all. As he got closer he actually heard his name spoken, something that sparked his interest all that much more. It really made him wonder what it was that Naevius was saying about him to her pretty friends.

He gave a smile as he came to stand near to them, giving a smile, "Good afternoon, Naevius, it's nice to see you again." He said before looking over at her quiet friend and said, "Hey man, no hard feelings i hope about what I said. I just wanted to encourage you to get out of there and away from that giant was all."

Naevius was glad that Ichil followed her sudden change of conversation and had the same enthusiasm as she had asked their friend with. But before Shalvesta could respond, she heard a familiar voice address her. If she was with anybody other than Ichil, Shalvesta, and Sebastien, she may have gone all snooty noble on him but instead she just smiled softly. "It's good to see you as well, Saraf. I know you had been going scouting, did you capture any of the ones here?" She couldn't help but ask. Nae didn't know how Saraf would treat his captives so she thought it would be a good idea to figure it out to judge the captive's level of dislike for her people. When he started speaking to Sebastien she suddenly felt the urge to step up. "Sebastien was acting on my orders. I realize I shouldn't have put him in danger but something happening to the pregnant one could incite rebellion in the rest." That aside, she smiled again before turning back to Ichil and Shalvesta. "Saraf, this is the Lady Ichil and Lady Shalvesta, and this of course is Sebastien. Everyone, this is Saraf." She said, making very formal introductions.

Sebastian - post 1 /1

Ah, yes. "Encouragement." That was exactly like what it had sounded like when the young man had shouted in to him. He opened his mouth to speak, but Naevius seemed to have it all under control. They were both well aware that he didn't need the help, but it was welcome at least to have someone who agreed with him. That being done, he simply offered the boy a dismissive wave of the hand. Sure, it was fine.

It was a bit odd, however, that he had only called Naevius by her name and not by her title. Either these two knew one another fairly closely or the kid was as much of a p***k as he had seemed.

Ichil - post 7

Ichil offered a little nod to the man whom Naevius had mentioned previously. So she knew him? How odd that he should address her so informally! Who was she to judge Naevius' relationship with men, though? She offered a smile and a polite nod of greeting to him.

"It's a pleasure," she said instinctively. Except it hadn't really been anything quite yet!

BarAmal: ½
Location: area of prisioner camp Sawenah was taken from

BarAmal paced back and forth counting silently with his mind coming up with horror after horror replaying how that guard just dragged Sawenah off.. Finally when he reached a number that he had decided on he knew it was time to take action. He moved toward the one guard who remained. “Excuse me I was wondering if you’ve seen my friend.” His tone was bland but behind his back BarAmal’s hands were fists. He proceeded to describe the hybrid he had been speaking to before. The vile man chuckled and with a sneer gave BarAmal the response that did not help improve his mood. “Get back with the others.” Taking a deep breath, and feeling pain in his teeth while he ground them, BarAmal weighed his options carefully for a moment. “Will she come back unharmed?” ‘Get back.’ It was clear the man was not really going to answer him further than he had. It had been his stupid idea that had gotten her dragged off. The rough drag floated through his mind. Was she hurt now? How long had she been gone? If he did attack there would be more guards but that was his problem not hers. Could he call out the rough treatment of Sawenah and help her that way even if it meant getting hurt himself? Should he just leave her to whatever fate the guard had in store for her? That last thought was discarded as soon as he had it. BarAmal would not be such a coward even though any other action would likely result in a lot of pain on his end, and possibly even his death. BarAmal tried a few more times but each time he was Then deciding he was more responsible for the girl than he was being a good little prisoner he laxed his stance the guard was telling him to get back and that man’s face kept up the look until BarAmal’s fist connected with it. Staggering back the guard cried out. It didn’t take long at all for other guards to come to their fallen compatriot’s aid. During that short time BarAmal was on top of the guard before being pulled off and subdued with a fair amount of force. To the guards who came he kept saying Sawenah and return but soon that was silenced.
