Jasper didn't care that he hadn't scared the boy off, he just didn't want to be bothered right now. He made his way into the little crevice that held the soggy mattress and sat on the concrete next to it. It was still raining but he didn't care, the peace and quiet was comforting. Maybe he could fall asleep to the sound of the rain, though that would prove difficult.

Fido crawled after Jasper, tired of walking on his hind legs, and sat next to him. The best he could do was lean on him and whine for the attention he had been so used to. It looks like their friendship would have to start over from scratch, Fido mused to himself rather sadly. It surely wouldn't be as easy as when they were very young.

Jasper gave a heavy sigh, he would have ran the kid out of his little hole in the wall he called home but he just didn't have the energy right now. Besides he was probably just lost and needed help finding his parents or something. "You should get some sleep.." he mumbled softly, though if it was the boy's first day out on the streets sleep was probably not going to happen.

Fido took this as an invitation and slipped himself under Jasper's arm. "Waf!" he barked softly as he prepared to drift off to sleep. He would have licked the other boy's face if it was normal for humans. According to what he gathered in his past life, humans didn't like being licked in the face by other humans. If Fido was supposed to be a human now, he would have to act like one somehow.

Jasper gave a heavy sigh at the young boy's reaction, he would work on the boy's behavior after they had a decent rest. Although, Jasper just wanted to stay asleep forever. Soon Jasper fell asleep as well, despite the rain's attempt to keep him both awake and soaked. BrokenScreamBox ((only one or two responses from me tonight, exhausted and frustrated.))

anime_creator (Okay. I hope things get better) Fido was the first to wake up, as usual, and he began to stretch as a result. Forgetting everything for a moment, he climbed onto Jasper's lap and shook him to wake him up. "Waf! Waf!" he barked, and then he remembered he was no longer a dog. He then shut up and just continued to shake Jasper in hopes of waking him up.

Jasper grumbled when he felt his body shaking and an odd sound coming from the boy next to him. "Knock it off!" he snapped, shoving the boy off of him and rubbing his eyes to wake up a little faster. "And what did I say about that annoying barking?" Jasper finally got to his feet, already knowing he needed to find somewhere to dry his clothes off so he wouldn't get sores or athletes foot from the rain. "Alright, I protected you for a few hours, now get outta here. I don't take in strays....." He said in an irritated tone as he made his way out from behind the dumpster.

Fido simply followed, though he had to try to stand again, as humans were not meant to walk on four legs. "Waf!" he barked again and reached for Jasper, grasping his shirt. "F... Faa... Faaiii..." He used his free hand to point toward himself as he tried to speak his name. "Fffaaaaiiii..."

Jasper felt his shirt being grabbed again and gave a soft grumble, he was getting tired of this. "Look, I don't care what you have to say. I can barely afford to take care of myself now go find some clothes and just leave me alone!" he snapped, shoving the illiterate boy off of him.

Fido was starting to get sick of Jasper shoving him away. Growling, the former dog glared at the older boy as if demanding some form of recognition. This was so infuriating! So much so that... that... Fido suddenly found himself rubbing at his eyes, which were quickly blurring. Maybe he was crying? But crying never did anything for humans. He tried to get himself to stop, but it seems things only got worse.
Then came the thunder and lightning. Fido instinctively howled in fright, the howl sounding odd even to him and frightening him even more, and ran to Jasper, clutching onto his leg and not daring to let go. He had always hated the thunder and lightning. It always sounded like some monster that would have been too big for him to fight off.

Jasper was just about to leave the small boy when he saw tears and of course felt bad for the way he had treated the young one. Being homeless was hard enough without someone being rude to you. The sound of thunder reminded him that he needed to find a new home anyways, but the boy clinging to him was extremely familiar. "Alright alright..." he said in a soothing voice, picking the youngster up into his arms and carrying him. "Hang on a bit, I know where we can go to be safe from the storm." he said softly as he ran them to a big construction site that hadn't been worked on in months. Jasper had suspected for quite some time that the workers abandoned this site; however he was still wary that they might come back. Half an hour had passed and they made it to the not-quite-finished shelter. He sat the boy down on a concrete block and knelt in front of him. "Now don't touch anything metal....you understand??" He asked sternly, but once he received the answer he was looking for his expression softened. "You don't have a family do you? No parents or anything??" he asked curiously, thinking a boy of his age wouldn't be living on the streets if he had parents to go home to.

Fido was at first reluctant to let go of Jasper's leg, but was comforted by his voice and then let himself be carried. Upon reaching their temporary shelter, he acknowledged the instructions to avoid metal and then shook his head at the mention of parents. He didn't know his parents, but Jasper had been all the family he needed. Fido began to whimper when he heard a soft rumble from the sky and he inched a bit closer to Jasper. "Waf..."

Jasper let out a heavy sigh and hung his head. "Well I guess there's no helping it. You're stuck with me for now." he said softly, hearing the others' cry from the thunder. Jasper wrapped the boy in his arms tightly. "Don't worry so much about the thunder. It's just loud, the lightning is something you should fear the most." he said calmly, remembering a certain someone who used to be afraid of loud noises too, but he couldn't let him think of that. "You got a name kid?" he asked the boy, releasing his hold so they could see into each other's eyes.BrokenScreamBox ((Don't get used to me posting on a regular basis. Fido was calmed in Jasper's arms, but the comfort was interrupted by the question of whether or not he had a name. "F... Faiii..." he tried to say his given name, but then thought against it. He never heard of a human named Fido. Besides, he did want a different name. Probably Carter. He always liked the name Carter. Now, how was he to say that one?
