The arena erupted in shouts and whistles, Salem having turned the tide around for what looked like the final time, given that even though he'd impaled Trent's face against the canvas he'd still been unable to move despite having put his opponent into a most vulnerable position. It seemed that "The Deuce" had summoned all the strength he had for that maneuver, all the conscious effort he could muster just to time that right and not have his body give out under the pain he'd been pushing himself through this entire fight. Still, Salem struggled to lift his left arm, pushing with his legs to slide his body over the couple feet it was between himself and Trent, dropping the shaky arm across the rookie's chest!

Everything came down to this moment, the official slid down on his stomach as the count would begin.
"One....
Two....
....Three....."
The official hit the mat three times as the bell than rang with the confirmation of that action. Salem had won the King of the Ring tournament and overcame the adversity that Trent had placed over him. The match came close in many ways but in the end Salem would have a trick up his sleeve and deliver a diabolical DDT which would shake the foundations of Trent and the crowd. Salem would most likely be shocked, so would the crowd but the most shocked person at the end of this scenario would be Trent who had much too prove, but he couldn't overcome this man tonight. The crowd would begin too cheer loudly for the efforts from Salem, a new dawning of wrestling has been made. Salem is the first ever King of the Ring.

Though he could hear and feel the referee make the three-count, Salem lacked any energy to do much else about it other than lay with his arm across Trent until the official decided to reach down and assist. But once the referee had called for the bell and started helping Salem up to his feet, the audience could see the joy bleeding through the pain on the M.W. Deuce's expression as he used his good arm to cradle his mangled one. The fans were standing up, applauding both men who'd given their best to both put on a show and also live up to the title of King of the Ring, and while each had done their part to make the case, Salem had survived against the Chickenwing, he'd survived against the Superkick, and he'd managed to counter the 450 Splash to prevail and win the illustrious title that befitted someone triumphing after this intense of a match.
"Your winner...and NEW KING OF THE RING...Salem CROFT!"
Sweat dripping down his neck and forehead, Salem struggled to keep on his feet as the announcer made the call, bringing the stadium to life once more while the desperately tired Croft looked over at Trent, who was still on the canvas. For a second, he just stared - flashes of the potential that lurked inside the young rookie had kept Salem at bay the entire evening, and there was more than a little doubt within "The Deuce" that he'd actually accomplish this narrow victory. But nonetheless, Salem smiled and reached down to offer Trent a hand, the only good one Salem had, to help him up, as well.

Salem would have celebrated for a few moments until he stumbled upon the carcass of Trent, where he would help him up with a hand. Trent would have been brought back to his feet as he looked at Salem who had impressed him the whole match, especially at the end where the tables turned the most. This was surely a sight to see. Trent had one arm on his side and the other approaching the hand of Salem. Trent would than raise the arm of Salem as he moved that hand from his waist, to the top of his head which had suffered the DDT. Trent than pulled in Salem for a hug which got a huge pop, he slanted his head and began to whisper words such as "Good job, you deserve it". Once that was done, Trent had nothing else to prove. He exited the ring, and let Salem finish celebrating. Leaving with applause from the crowd for the first time in a long time.

"You just get yourself back here next year." Salem replied as Trent hugged him close for the congratulatory hug. The soreness in Salem's chest from those chops, though, made the embrace feel like a submission, forcing him to wince once more from the sensitivity he still felt after all the bouncing around the ring he'd been doing this match. Ushered over to the corner by the official, Salem ducked underneath the top turnbuckle, where a couple of ringside hands were waiting to help Salem down the stairs, knowing he had yet to make the long walk back up the ramp towards where the throne, robe, and crown had been brought out during the event.
But the "Most Wanted Man in Wrestling" refused the assistance once he made it down the stairs, instead stumbling over towards the barricade, leaning on it with his right hip to slide along its side while fans patted and appreciated him for the work he'd put into coming up with the victory. His eyes blurry, his face visibly stretched from the lack of strength he had to keep his mouth shut, he proceeded up the ramp until at last, Salem stood upon the very stage he'd stepped out onto, the golden throne of the King waiting for him near the curtain hanging at the back of the platform.
Starting towards it, the cameramen were sure to surround the newly christened King, every detail - from the beads of sweat clinging to Croft's body, to the intricate design that had been carved into the golden sceptre, crown, and throne - was on display across the big titantron that hung above the stage, and also the box of screens that dangled above the ring, itself. Salem was tired, exhausted, and desperately wanted to sit down in his throne...or even take a seat, period. But before he could, the attendants that had followed him up from ringside draped the red, velvet robe across the young man's shoulders, swaddling Salem like it were a blanket before he eventually sat down.
As one handed the scepter to Salem's left hand, the other placed the jeweled crown down upon Croft's head, the image of Salem sitting upon it making many in the stands mark out. Looking down at his right hand, it seemed the tournament champion was contemplating just how much he'd had to sacrifice to take this prestigious place in history - but now, it didn't matter. To him, this moment made all the pain, all the frustration worth it as he looked out amongst the crowd with fragments from his signature smirk, the public cheering him on as the screen turned to black.
