"Yes!" Jemi grinned, finally remembering that hey, she had bets on those eggs. And so far, she was 5 for 5, outside of that surprise who did not count. Ocean, Wicked, and Frosted had all given greens and the Pale was a bronze. She knew it. Gold everyone new so maybe it should have been 4 for 4. Still, possible flit? Come to her.

She watched as wicked impressed to Becka and it seemed only fitting that would happen after she recalled the touching. The egg had been quite protective of the healer and she still found it crazy that she hadn't even been a candidate and had been allowed upon the sands to touch. She could have understood if there weren't enough candidates to the eggs or thread was super close and they wanted to be sure all the eggs would impress but she had just been told to go out there. Oh well. What's done is done.

She watched as the lively green still danced around the sands and a bronze slid forth from the pale egg. ooo. He was a lovely one. She watched and waited to see what else would come forth.

Paige

Paige's smile gained a bit more confidence. "Ok. If you need anything though, you can ask me. I was a candidate for a long time..." She turned once again to meet Venaith's eyes. It was so unreal still. The initial deafening silence she'd felt still rose to greet her, lessened as their bond grew, but it felt like music. "I'm Paige!" She started, almost forgetting the most important part as she was once again mesmerized by the dragon at her side.

Venaith nodded approvingly. I can see that. I would expect no less from you sister. No one should fault you for finding strength in hidden places. I am glad she was there for you as mine was for me. She maintained a cool distance from the green though, she didn't approve of that attitude aimed at her. She would give Taikirth the benefit of the doubt for the moment, she was injured, and hers was untrained in her care. She could be forgiven for this light crossing of propriety for now.

Ritsa

The female candidate stood silently in the sands. She had trickled out quickly with the rest of the candidates but had been otherwise unnoticed by anyone or in this case anything. It wasn't much of a surprise to her, with all the candidates surrounding her it was very unlikely she would impress of the dozens and dozens of other candidates also eagerly waiting their chance to impress a dragonet.

Watching with awe as the first of the dragons emerged Rista smiled weakly. A green dragon, and a fierce one at that. How wonderful it was to see the hatching with her own eyes. And to be this close. While she loved the idea of being this close to the hatching eggs she knew the danger that was associated with being a candidate on the sands. One wrong move and she could easily end up under a clumsy babies claws. Not somewhere she really wanted to be in all of this.

Closing her eyes and trying to keep her breathing calm in all the excitement, Ritsa was quick to move out of the way as a green and gold approached the girls. Her heart yearned to impress either of them and when she failed she couldn't help the sinking feeling in her heart. Shifting uncomfortably back into place as the others had impressed she turned her eyes back towards the eggs. A third and beautiful baby had hatched but she knew well enough that one was not for her. Licking her lips to moisten them Ritsa let out a slow unsteady breath as she nervously kept an eye out.

The small egg at the front of the clutch gave short wiggle. The motion quick drawing the eye before it sat still a moment. Almost as if it wanted to be sure it had all the attention before it really tried to break it’s shell. It began to rock steadily as the tiny dragon worked to free itself. Back and forth went the Silver Egg.

All the rocking worked the tiny egg into a divot in the sand. Still it kept up the steady rocking as it rolled around in its divot. Was it taking too long to hatch? It had been at this for several minutes now. Did someone need to help it?

Becka fed another chunk of meat to Taikirth and gave a slightly bigger but still tiny smile at the goldrider, who seemed to be in as much shock as she, except that girl had been a Candidate so Becka wondered if it was Impressing Gold that shocked the girl so much. "Thanks, i have some catching up to do on lessons i think" she said, rubbing gently at Taikirth's eyeridges, sensing through their bond that she liked it. "Becka" she added, gazing back into Taikirth's eyes, as Paige stared at her gold.

Taikirth was also cool, her gold sister had drawn blood, for no reason other than she had FRIGHTENED the girl she'd Impressed to, no matter the explanation Taikirth wasn't about to let it slide while she remembered, but she could play cool, cool and civil on the surface. I dare anyone to find fault in MY Choice Venaith she commented, her tone not exactly condescending but there was an edge to it.

Balchas was sort of late, he'd arrived at the tail end of the candidates filing onto the sands. He watched as a Green hatched, one that preferred to hide than go looking for Hers, ok, that was different, maybe hers wasn't there. The Gold hatched and the Green had moved towards a girl menacingly, the gold moving over and clawing the small green, that was incredibly unfair but he guessed there was a reason, he couldn't read the minds of dragons.

The green had moved off to hide again but was disturbed by something coming out of the ground, Balchas instantly thought of giant tunnelsnakes but it turned out to be a hidden dragon, a brown. Could this be for him? ... Nope... the Brown Impressed to someone else, more eggs hatched the gold impressed, he only knew that because he saw her over there at the feeding tables when his eyes followed the brown, from the pale egg emerged a Bronze. He hoped for this one, but there was still another two greens on the sands, the excitable green from before, plus the new green. Then the bronze, plenty of dragons to put hopes on. He hoped his sister Bacha Impressed, he glanced over at her and gave her a thumbs up, hoping she got a nice dragon.

With all of the chaos on the sands, Fiolen found him instinctively moving towards a more protective source, taking a step closer toward Naressa as he watched the wicked green attack another viciously. However, as astounding as it seemed to him, the green finally found her match, and the instant love and devotion found between the two of them gave him reason for pause.

Impression was like falling in love, but deeper. It was like having a child, yet still deeper than that. An unbreakable bond. The gravity of that was easy to overlook with the steady, easy relationship between seasoned riders. However, the raw rapture between two newly impressed..

His eyes watered sympathetically as the dragons began to pair off to their mindbonds, no doubt sharing the same yearning expression that many other candidates held in their eyes.

Wen focused on the small Silver Egg. Jemi had remarked on the hatching's attitude. His partner had found the egg to be rude but amusing. Come on little thing, break open. Wen didn't approach, letting the egg work itself out. It was rocking, it would manage.

Those at the front of the candidates with keen eyes might see the delicate cracks tracing along its shell. Several more rolls and the sound of shell breaking apart could be heard. A broad crack ran from the top of the egg unevenly down its side. The egg stopped and a gooy nostril poked at the crack. It gave a snort. Not quite there yet.

Round and round went Silver egg. How could the poor dragon inside not be dizzy yet? Slowly the crack widened until the shell could no longer stand the strain. It split apart as the baby was dumped into the bottom of the hole. A cough was heard, then a decidedly blue head raised up beyond the top ledge of the sand. He sat there, staring at the candidates, as he caught his breath.

Balchas watched with baited breath as the silver egg seemed to struggle to hatch, if he wasn't so determined to stick to the rules the Candidatemaster set he'd have gone to help.

In the end he didn't need to, it cracked and the crack widened as it moved, the cough was slightly concerning but the fact the dragon raised it's ..... HIS, blue head was a relief. He seemed healthy enough, just needed a breather after all that moving to crack his shell.

She noticed movement out of the corner of her eye and she looked over and saw Fiolen moving towards her. She couldn't help but smile, it seemed to be that he associated her with a protective persona, which wasn't far off from the truth. She moved closer to him and she gazed about. She wondered if perhaps he would impress, she pegged him with a bronze or a brown, maybe a blue. She figured if anything a bronze would further set him on the right course towards a more manly personality. Though, if he ended up with a blue she didn't see any issue with that. She knew that a Bronze would hold a lot of responsibilities should he impress one and perhaps that was what he needed, though she knew it was based on personality and nothing else..

Either you meshed or you didn't.

She gave him a reassuring smile and she turned her gaze to the silver egg as a blue head poked it's way through. Wasn't he an interesting sight.

Kaimi

Kaimi remembered the touching keenly, and she was pleased when the Wicked green chose Becka. She deserved to Impress. Of course, Kaimi thought almost everyone probably deserved to impress, she was not the most discerning of people. The Frosted green continued to dance about, she didn't seem concerned about impressing at all. Another green hatched, and she also paid little heed to the candidates. Was this normal? She had gotten the idea into her head that, when a dragon hatched, its natural drive was to Impress and then feed. She hadn't stopped to think that the drive may be stronger in some than in others. Oh, but there was a lovely bronze coming out of the pink shell that had been so sweet during the touching! And the snappy little silver egg was hatching. Kaimi's eyes focused on it - she remembered that one well, it had not been very nice. But she was desperately curious to see what had been lurking inside.

Silver blue eyeballed the candidates then sneezed wetly. He was clearly still not pleased with the selection provided. Rested, the blue went to climb out of the divot he’d made in the sand. His claws scrambled against the loose grains. He flapped his wings to give an extra boost up. Reaching the top he gave a bugle. Candidates could clearly see he was a very tiny blue, no bigger than any of the greens that had hatched.

He lifted his head to the full length his neck would go to regard the candidates again. His eyes whirled red. Haughtily the blue strolled toward the divide between the candidates. His head turning slowly left and right as he looked at the boys then the girls.

Shards and shells, there went her winning streak. She though the little terror would be a green. Jemi snorted, watching the Silver green get out of his shell. Looking a bit surprised there, mister. Now what are you planning to do? It was sort of adorable that he coughed though. Still, she was going to keep an eye on this hatching.
