Blue Flit Foen

He watched the pair with the pies closely. The scrutiny from the brown didn't seem to bother him. His wings twitched once when T'nus passed the pies to Becka. Foen sniffed deeply as the woman broke off the piece and cooled it down. He gave a happy croon as the piece was offered to him. Foen fluttered down to land on her shoulder and take his piece. The blue rubbed his head briefly against her cheek then took off.

Perching atop a nearby stall the blue devoured down his treat. It was good! Satisfied the blue took to the wing. He circled over the gather until he found what he was looking for. With a chirp he went to land on a girl's shoulder

Greenrider Lorend

A weight on her shoulder made her look up. "Ugh into the bubblies pies again and you didn't bring me one?" Lorend lifted a finger to wipe the betraying flaky crust still clinging to the blue's mouth. She made a disgusted noise in her throat. Selfish flit. She dug into her pouch and pulled out a 1/64 mark. The girl held it until the blue had a good hold. "Now you go back and get two pies." Mentally she enforced the order and watched as Foen took off once more. The blue would be so focused on the pies that he'd drop the mark on the tray for the baker.

More pies! The blue's eyes whirled happily as he headed back to the bubbly pies man. He swooped in eyeing two of the pies. The 1/64 mark dropped from his paws. He had to let go of it to grab his pies. His mistress wanted two pies! Foen gave two squawks at the man

Becka smiled again at T'nus, a little more weakly than previously perhaps though. "I guess there's nothing to lose" she murmured out loud "Alright, the worst he can do is say no right?" she asked, wary of approaching the Weyrleader. She wasn't a master, not even a candidate, just a healer but her master had told her before there was no such thing as JUST a Healer, because didn't everyone need a healer at some point in their lives?

She was slightly surprised at the blue fluttering to perch on her shoulder, she'd not been paying him attention though she still held out the bit of bubbly pie. Well, he MUST be owned by someone to be affectionate like that, she was tempted to tickle his chin when he rubbed his head against her cheek but he was gone before she could move her hand. Oh well, at least he got his bit of bubbly pie and wasn't stealing anymore.

She turned back, away from T'nus' stall with another breif "thanks!" and slowly made her way towards the Weyrleader's stall. Hanging back a little rather than trying to push her way past anyone to get at the pots.

Aurelien was furious, and not just because he'd failed a purchase a pie. He turned away from F'ola, rather reluctantly, and glared. Ouch! Who d been the one who dared stick a trundlebug in his pants? He took a moment to shake the bug out before turning to glance at F'ola. She was rather lovely, wasn't she? And a greenrider. He shook his head. No, no. He couldn't be thinking like that. Women brought nothing but trouble. And when they brought trouble, they brought tears. And moans, groans, grumbling, sniveling, sobbing... All sorts of noises Aurelien really would rather not hear.

He noticed she was offering a pie. He snatched it up, expression brightening considerably. He thanked her devoutly. "I'm Aurelien," he introduced himself with a florish and a smile. "My blue is Sancuth," he added, gesturing to the Weyr heights. "It's nice to meet you, F'ola. Am I right in guessing that you'Veri only just transferred here? I pride myself on knowing everyone, and--" he paused for dramatic effect, "I don't know you!"

He glanced around, hoping to spot a table--ah! There! "Let's enjoy these while they're still hot," he suggested, gesturing to the table. "Then maybe afterwards, you'll grant me a dance?"

Mei and Hennory: Location -- Meandering between stalls

((Skip down to the ~*~*~ if you don't really care what Hennory and Mei are wearing ))

With how Hennory dressed, one would think him some sort of esteemed bronze rider, tall and with a confident stride and his gather fineries telling of opulence, a brazen show of wearing a tailored suit of an ivory leaning just toward a golden cream. The embroidered trim was a mix of silvers and gold, looking every bit a Holder's son. That is, until the stark colors of the weyr coiled over his shoulder, laced with the telltale strand of blue that marked him as what he truly was; a blue weyrling… albeit one that was very soon to be a senior.

An arm was linked with his own, the tiny creature beside him a stark contrast. While he was a pale, tall creature with a carefully tailored braid of red hair, Mei was short.. hilariously so. Over a foot shorter than her gather partner and a near-black tone of brown tone of hair that curled and hung uninhibited down her back and shoulders. His skin was pale and freckled; hers was a dark olive and spattered lightly with scars from her earlier career as a glass blower. Lastly her gather finery… which honestly was that of a pauper's clothing compared to Hennory, a simple green dress whose dye job was mottled, an obvious error that she wore with pride regardless.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

And now that we've got past the 'gather finery' that some people just don't want to read through! On to what the characters are -actually- doing.

Mei's steps were more of a rapid shuffle to keep up with Hennory's long stride, even if he took a slower pace to compensate for his Gather partner.

"Oh, look. They're selling flit eggs. Didn't you say how much you wanted one?" Hennory queried, gesturing towards the stall where people were gathering.

"Eh. You know.. I'm so pumped about getting ready for flying lessons that I'm thinking it's not so good an idea." Mei admitted. Hennory could swear he could feel the energy vibrating through the green weyrling at the mere mention of it. For someone who was -terrified- of dragons when she first came to the Weyr, she was taking to dragon riding rather well. His own adjustment was a touch more rocky. He loved Halusilth; he knew that much, but Weyr life was so absurdly different from hold life that he found it hard to keep up at times. Mei… seemed so much more flexible, both emotionally and socially to the upheaval. He found it quite easy to merely follow in her footsteps.

A marvelous, curious creature, she was…

"What are you staring at? I'm serious! I'm not getting one until I graduate to Rider." Mei barked, taking is nostalgic stare for scrutiny.

"Oh no, no! I agree with you; that's probably the best course of action." Hennory gave an easy laugh to hide his embarrassment, reaching out to poke her on the nose. This of course, made her wrinkle it into a face he always thought to be cute. "Just pointing it out."

Kaila sighed when she was told that they had not seen Kiric. She really hoped the gold flit was at least with Lein and trying to not more shines for the flit's collection. "You have siblings? You are a great rider, Ashlyn. Though are you still training to be a healer?" Kaila asked, trying not to think about her own brother. They still didn't get along since he had tried to pull her away from the sands before Maith hatched.

"I have a gold flit named Kiric and I haven't seen her since before I left for the gather."

Kiric flew overhead and chirped, seeing Kaila, but flew towards her at the sight of the bubble pies. Kaila glanced in the direction of hearing another speak of selling Firelizard eggs. She looked towards her shoulder as she felt Kiric land on it, but looked to Ashlyn, "I think someone selling firelizard eggs."

Ashlyn
"Yep, I do indeed have siblings, quite a few of them actually. Thank you, I do try to be the best rider I can be, Gyafrith kind of expects a lot out of me. I don't know if I can keep up being a healer and a rider though. I haven't quite decided what kind of job I want as a rider. Oh and look, seems your little one found you. And yes, I thought I heard someone mention firelizards, shall we go check it out?"Ashlyn asked.

I don't expect a lot out of you, Mine, I just know you are a wonderful person. I want everyone to know what I know, that's all,Gyafrith explained.

"There is the title of dragonhealer, Ashlyn. It takes a lot of work to balance learning to be both a healer and rider. And yes, we shall. I'm rather curious of how much the eggs are." Kaila looked towards Kiric, hoping that the gold had behaved herself somewhat. Kiric chirped to her, peering down at the bubble pies.

Kiric peered up at Ashlyn after a moment, chirping at her, curious.

Mine, Kiric has been with Lein mostly. Though perhaps you could get a shiny for her. Kaila nodded as she would get a few gems later if possible for the gold.

Ashlyn
"Hmmm, I suppose I could always do that, though I think my dragon expects me to be a leader. I suppose we will see what calls out to me when the time comes. Yes, I am curious how much they are too. I haven't had one of my own, though those belonging to my family always felt like mine in a way,"Ashlyn admitted.

I cannot help it you would make an excellent rider, Mine. I think a firelizard would be wonderful to have, someone else for me to look after,Gyafrith rumbled, bending down to nuzzle his rider's cheek.

The greenrider simply smiled and shook her head, reaching up to take his hand off of her forehead. “I’m absolutely sure.” She petted the back of his hand reassuringly before continuing. “I’m not going anywhere. I’ve gotten all dressed up, so I’m going to at least make some appearances around the gather. Don’t you worry about me.” Bobbing her brows impishly, Lute released his hand and took the seat he offered to her, pulling her lute to her lap as she crossed her legs. Strumming a few cursory chords, she offered up a couple of choice songs. “That ought to get them moving, I think. Player’s choice, m’dear,” Ultimately leaving the final choice up to T’rel as the songs she suggested were all ones she knew and enjoyed playing. When a song was settled upon, she played along, occasionally offering up her voice for duetting pieces lyrics for emphasis or contrast. With the fine notes strummed, the woman slid to her feet and dipped her head to the crowd, taking T’rel’s hand in her own. Taking a final bow with him before heading off the stage for the next performers, Lute looked to him and huffed a sigh. “I’m feeling a little thirsty and perhaps a mite puckish. Want to grab something to drink and maybe a couple of bubblypies? Let’s sit down once we do. I don’t want to be walking through crowds with my hands full.” And for a few others reasons, but convenience was the up there on the list.

"But if you're feeling sick--" T'rel fretted, studying Lute. He allowed her to suggest the songs, and seemed to prefer singing duets with her. He was relieved when their turn was over, bowing to the crowd. Singing was thirsty work, and suddenly, as Lute mentioned getting something to eat, the bronze rider's mind went to his stomach. It felt as empty as the void that was between!

"T'nus is selling bubblypies!" He exclaimed, leading her over to T'nus' stall. There were tables and chairs nearby as well. You sit down, I'll fetch us something to eat and drink." He went to get something to drink from a nearby vendor, then took two pies from T'nus' stall. He curled an arm around Lute's waist and nuzzled her cheek lovingly. "Here," he said, smiling. "You're so beautiful, Lute. Now, tell me what was troubling you while we eat? I won't hold with any secrets!" He teased, sipping at his drink, and then placing a kiss to her cheek.

"I love you."

Bubblypies always did well to get her weyrmate fired up. “Then to see T’nus!” The woman chimed, pointing off to where the bulk of stalls were set up. Following along with T’rel, Lute looked over the wares and goodies available approvingly. People were really set on setting the mood for a wonderful, successful Gather. Perhaps to help make up for the chaos that the previous turn’s had taken. Returning her gaze to T’nus’ stall when they arrived, she blinked at T’rel just picking some up, frowned, then fished out a couple marks of appropriate value to lay down on the counter. Grinning at the nuzzle to her cheek, she turned her head to kiss his temple. “Thank you,” she said, taking the offered food and drink before lowering into a free chair. “I did what I could with what I had, considering how yucky I was feeling earlier.”

Sipping from her drink, she took a moment to settle herself, placing her lute on the free space of the table. “I love you,” Lute echoed with a kiss. “And what is ‘troubling me’ isn’t trouble as such. No trouble at all really. At least I don’t think so. Before coming down to the Gather, I paid a visit to the healers to see if there was anything I could have that might settle my stomach and just generally help me shake the fogginess. I told them how I was feeling, when said feeling started, and, well, it turns out I am quite likely pregnant. Er, rather, definitely, really.” In trying to come to her point, she had been absently combing a hand through her bangs, tucking them behind her ear, fiddling with the little wispy hairs at the base of her neck that were too short to be held by the twist that she had pulled her hair into that morning. Finally grinning, she bit her lower lip and slowly raised her shoulders. “You’re going to be a daddy.”

T'rel stiffened. He paled under his Istan tan, staring, wide eyed, mouth gaped and bubblypie halfway to his mouth. "What?" He asked, allowing the pie to drop to the table. He continued to stare at Lute. He hesitated, before taking his now free hands and gently grasped Lute's face, hands on her cheeks. "Pregnant?" He asked, if he'd never heard of the word. He didn't seem remotely interested in eating now, brown eyes glued to Lute's. "A baby? A baby! T'nus! We're going to have a baby!" He called to his friend, a broad smile on his face. A baby. They were going to have a baby! He gently pulled Lute into his arms, nuzzling her.

"We're going to have a baby," he muttered, delighted. "A baby. You're sure? The healers aren't wrong, are they? Why are you running around agather in your state? Lute! Are you sure this is safe? Shouldn't you be resting?" He fretted, curling his arms, just slightly tighter around her. "Shards, a baby." She had to be a few months along. That meant--that meant he probably had less than seven months to prepare!

That was it. That was it! Lute made a note to remember her weyrmate’s expression at that moment for the rest of her days. It was priceless! “Mmmhm,” She drew out, teasingly. Lute made an effort to catch his dropped pie to save it from possible destruction. Nodding as she chuckled, she folded her hands in front of her. “That right. Pregnant.” Blinking her dark eyes at her weyrmate as he cupped her face in his hands, she smiled, finally giving into her amusement and laughing as he called out his excitement to T’nus. Drawing him into her arms as much as he drew her into his, the greenrider hugged him tight.

Nodding again at T’rel’s inquiry, she answered. “Yes, a baby and I’m fairly certain. The signs are all there and the healers were thorough. It’s early yet, but I am indeed pregnant.” Taking his hands again, she placed a kiss on one of his knuckles. “T’rel, love of my life, I am perfectly fine. I am very healthy. I’m not doing anything that I shouldn’t be. As far as I can tell, I am taking it easy. I didn’t go sprinting from our weyr to the healers. I’ve not done any heavy lifting of late. I and we are doing fine. I just know you’re going to worry, but really we’ll do right. I’m not made of glass. Walking around and going about my day isn’t going to destroy me or our baby.” It was her turn to cup his face in her hands. “Promise me that you won’t worry yourself sick, okay? Promise me this.”

Iona and Hisith –

Iona had been stopped before she could make her way to the Gather so that she could tend to one of Lute’s ‘little boys blue’ who had popped in to say hi. He had brought most of a dead tunnel snake as a present and seemed immensely proud of himself. She had to take the time to get rid of the snake, a task that Hisith volunteered to help with, and once the victorious visiting hunter was thanked and congratulated for his work, sent him on home to His’ home weyr. Decked out in a lilac, lavender, and soft blue dress with a small satchel hung down against her hip, Iona had finally made her way to the Gather. Hisith followed alongside Hers, head held high as the chipper mood passed from dragon to rider and back. The vibrant green was in high spirits. Hers was feeling good. There was merrymaking to take part in, Hers family was there, and most certainly some of her own clutch siblings would be present.

When the crowd started to thicken as the pair drew closer, she lowered her head to nuzzle the crown of Iona’s head and then took to the wing. She was an adult now and, while she was a little below average in the size department for a green, she wasn’t a tiny thing any longer so slogging through the crowd with or after Iona would be a little much to ask from the Gather goers. She would be content to watch and listen from a perch above the festivities. All the better to see all the coming and goings of this merry gathering! Coming down to land, she visibly perked at being reached out to by her clutch brother. ‘Oh, Helioth, hello! It’s good to hear from you today. Yes, Mine is here. We ran a little late, but she is below now. Are you and yours in need of her? Shall I let her know, if so?’

Iona had made her way to where good many stands had been set up and had been investigating a particularly intriguing set of chimes and a sun catcher made out of smoothed colored glass pieces and shaped pieces of looking glass. They’d both make for pretty additions to her weyr. The thought made her smile. As a graduated weyrling and now fully fledged rider, she got a weyr of her own! She was really enjoying nesting and making her place truly her own space. From where she was shopping, Iona heard a very familiar voice shout out above the general din of the crowd. Pausing, she looked around, brows arching as she searched. Had she heard correctly? A baby? And being shouted by T'rel? Looking quickly to the merchant, she excused herself and made her way closer to where the tables were. Her half brother and his weyrmate were embracing tightly. They both were practically glowing and T'rel was looking like he was winding up to fret. By the First Egg! No way!

The young greenrider drew closer, practically beaming already. "Lute, T'rel...Did I hear you correctly? Am I going to an aunt?!" She pretty much could guess the answer, but she wanted to hear head on just what she thought she had heard.

J'nes - at his stall

J'nes accepted Anri's marks, and nodded in response to her complement. "Thank you very much! But I'm still just an Apprentice, I have a lot to learn," he demurred. "Raising a weyrling dragon's left me no time to continue training in my craft."

J'nes accepted Joleen's marks with a bow. "As you wish, milady Joleen," he told her with elaborate courtesy. "I'm afraid might be only a slightly better dancer than my dragon, but I do my best not to step on any toes."

When Navi proposed a price for one of the smaller plushies, J'nes smiled kindly at the boy. "Half a mark will do nicely," he agreed. He accepted the coin and let the boy take whichever of the toys he wanted.
