Mathias still had no idea what was going on, except that Jove appeared to be trying to get to the other side of a large, empty space.
And he was almost there, but he looked like he was having some difficulty.
So he used what little strength he had left in his wings to jump up and glide towards his friend, to lift him up and with a grunt, toss him to the other side (it was lucky that Jove was so light).
But then his wings gave out and he fell.

Jove felt himself pushed that last little step, and then... his feet were on solid ground. The little pup didn't dare look back, and see how much he had used his friends during the course of the trial. He could only hope they were okay after all this.
He ran up to where the artifact lay, and hesitantly picked up the green gauntlet.
