Benkyou Resolvere

Tight lips formed a scowl as Kyouji was speaking to them, helping up the one that was bowed onto the floor, and then starting to speak to them about the situation. They were calling in the higher ups....
So, they don't trust us to be able to handle this.. she thought to herself, putting a hand on her chin. They were mocking them...summoning in the others from around the world. It was a bit insulting, though if the rumors were true, they would need all of the help they could get. Which brought up the second topic...
"A new face into the ranks?" she mused out loud, as Kyouji started to read out the message. The twenty third in the line of....
Geirin.. she thought, internally cringing a bit at the name. She knew of the previous one, "Kai"...As just about anyone did. She tried to keep her face muted of distaste....before the second part of that came out. The one that had been elected to fill in for him...The brown haired mystery summoner. As Red started to applaud, she kept a tight, firm expression on her face, slowly clapping along....And fighting back the urge to snap at him. This was an important meeting, and she had to keep her wits about her..Even if she knew nothing about him, aside from him being Kyouji's outsider apprentice. Or, one of them, at least.
"Good...job." she called with an attempt at a neutral expression...though, it was still slightly sour. She'd...have to figure out just what made him so special later...

Asuka head lowered, a noticeable blush on her face from the attention her temporary ears were getting her, She didn't quite understand what Eoria meant, but she supposed Mir would tell her later either way.
Despite her state, she still smiled as Kyouji's hand rested on her head once again, and concentrating on Her master's words as she spoke of the subject that had been playing on her mind since she woke up. The crows were at war. And on top of that the clan leaders had been brought in, too? Given the circumstances, Asuka wasn't overly shocked at the decision, but all-in-all it went to show how far the situation had escalated.
Then came Kyouji's next statement, Asuka's heart started to beat faster, before the name was spoken. Asuka's head turned to her brown-haired comrade, "Shu...?" After a moment of pause, a wide grin took it's place on her features, she lept out of her chair and affectionately wrapped her arms around him, "Congratulations Shu!"

Eoria Ansul

"Congratulations, Geirin!" Eoria said, before tilting her head in confusion. That seemed to clear up a moment later, though, as she let go of Asuka and applauded happily. Maybe now Mir wouldn't have such a frowny face whenever somebody said that name... but oh! Right. Wait. That could wait. More importantly, it seemed like Kyouji still had something she wanted to say - and even Eoria knew that there were times she should be quiet and let others speak.

"Come on, you know I don't force myself onto people. I just show my love"

With more and more people entering, Yatsuda had felt that he should grab some more glasses for them. But with Kyouji having answered his question about whether they could have celebrated all of our birthdays together, she had then gotten to the point of why they were all summoned here. Silent as she had spoke, informing them about what was happening around them, Yatsuda had quietly perked up when the Grand Summoner had said that a summoner was going to be appointed. He knew in his own mind that he was not at the rightful place to suspect himself as such, but when she had said the name of her eldest apprentice, Yatsuda had taken off his glasses and wiped them, smiling towards the new Great Summoner among them.
"Congratulations, Great Summoner Geirin." Yatsuda felt happy to see one of his own allies to make it higher into the ranks, and personally hoped the best for him.

Kansei Ribasu

Hearing that they were at war wasn't too much of a shock considering how things were going recently. It was only a matter of time right? Though hearing the clan heads were brought in as well was a surprise. That meant things were either already in a terrible state or they were going to be.. The shocking news continued as Kyouji spoke some more. They were going to announce a new Geirin? What about Kai..? Did he step down from his title or did he ran away? The tension was thick in the air are the master started reading a letter, the name of the twenty third being written upon the parchment. Of course Kansei knew it wasn't going to be her but she was expecting some of her fellow Summoners.. What she got was the one person she didn't want to gain that title. The outsider Jo(shu)..

The girl could feel anger starting to boil in her chest though she did her best to keep her expression neutral. Her red irises must've shown how she really felt about this whole situation. What made him so special? being trained by the great Kyouji herself? Sure Shu must've had talent but he wasn't one of them! What did the outsider have that she didn't!? ".. Is there.. anything else, Lady Kuzunoha? Or are we done..?" Kansei said, some anger leaking into her tone of voice.

Kyouji Kuzunoha X, Great Summoner of the Yatagarasu
"What's honorable is all a matter of perspective...I just do what's necessary."

This was a moment that they had been building towards for some time; though she had always imagined that when her apprentice claimed the name of one of the Four Great Summoners, it would be her own that he inherited...and that she would be far too dead to experience the pleasure of that mystified, almost shell-shocked (and utterly honored and determined, of course) expression on his face at the news. She really did know how to pick the cute ones for apprentices, didn't she? Her lips curled into the smallest of smirks at that, watching as he seemed to decide for a moment between running away on the spot and standing up to the bold words that he had let slip earlier when she had asked them all the question which now bore fruit before them. But as expected, he rose...he accepted the growing responsibility in the way that she knew he would. Someone who had been through Sapporo and who could stand up for his devil allies the way that he had for Eria back then, who cared for them the way that he had grown close with Aussa and the others, wouldn't back down from a challenge like this just because it was hard. He had all the makings of a strong, great summoner written throughout this character...and what he had become through her training was someone who now had the tools to grow into the role that he would now be thrust upon. He would grow, and become even stronger now that he had become the new Geirin...he would become a greater summoner than even she was, and of that...she was most certain.

"Naturally. The Heads of the Yatagarasu rarely take 'no' for an answer," she quipped with a small smile, moving over to his side slowly and handing over the parcel that had been sent to him through her, setting her hand at his back as he had the opportunity to look over the document for official purposes. From now on, the letters would come directly to him and no longer through her, and he would have to get used to their cloak-and-dagger style, their rituals and codes, and he'd definitely have to familiarize himself with the Heralds and the Shrines, the Dark Realm...these were all things she had introduced him to, but now that he would have to become familiar with all on his own. She could help him starting out, of course, but as Geirin, he was going to have to be able to stand on his own...a task for which she was sure he was ready. After all, he was her apprentice, wasn't he? "When we're done, you're going to report to the Abandoned Shrine outside of Okina City, where you met with your predecessor last night. There, you're going to be introduced to the details of your new station...and officially, once you've passed the final tests...you'll inherit the name of Geirin the Twenty-Third. Until then, consider yourself something like a...Great Summoner-Elect. Understand?" She moved back towards the head of the table, but paused for a moment, looking back at him one more time...taking him in for the last time, perhaps, as the apprentice as opposed to the colleague. Had she said enough until now how proud she was of how far he had come? How important he...and Asuka, Yatsuda, even Red...were becoming to her?

"It shouldn't need to be said again, but...'proud' doesn't really justice to it right now," she conceded one more time, letting the glimmer in her eye speak to all of the things that she had never said, or couldn't quite say in the moment and with all their company, "Just remember...Geirin, Shu...you were trained as my successor. And until I'm dead, I'll always look after you. That is my promise."

...

But this moment wasn't just theirs, she knew far too obviously. There were others present, and some of them were letting the jealousy seep into their voices, even as they spoke to one of their ultimate superiors in the art of summoning. It would have been easy to chastise each of them individually, to point out where their failings had allowed someone like Shu who had been selected from outside the organization to surpass them in the election of a new Great Summoner, but pettiness was something that she really didn't care all that much for. She was only petty when it came to meaningless, fun things...like someone touching her cake or addressing her inappropriately. And this was a time for celebration, really, the restoration of the Four Great Summoners was on the verge of completion, and a few impetuous apprentices weren't going to get on her bad side. Instead, she let Red and Asuka and Yatsuda and all of Shu's immediate peers celebrate in turn, paying little heed to the cold distaste in Benkyou's tone or the outright venom in Kansei's. If they had half the track record that Shu did in battle, they'd be the ones standing where he was now; that was something they'd develop over time, though. She knew that she had thrown him into the deep end fast, but she had done it because she felt he could handle it. Today had proven her right...as he had himself, time and time over.

Now, the seed she had planted all those months ago was bearing fruit. And with one seed harvested, it was time to begin to plant some more...

...

"As for the rest of you, consider why it is him and not you who the Heads of the Yatagarasu...who have forgotten more about summoning than any of us will ever know...have seen fit to appoint him to this station instead of you. Become stronger...seek out methods to become strong, both in body and spirit...only then will you be ready to stand where he is now. And if any of you wish to spend time here, training with the rest of us, my door is open. Now is a time for the Crows to unite, and restore our strength...not to fall from division within. Remember that," ...all right, she couldn't help but provide a little direction for the rest of them with her commentary, but it was something they all needed to hear. She didn't expect them not to feel slighted, and she didn't expect those who hadn't seen Shu fight to understand why he was promoted before each of them. Time, and Shu's skills as Geirin, would see to that more than her own recommendation ever could. She only expected them to do their duties...as summoners of the Yatagarasu, if nothing else. Speaking of, there was one more matter of business to attend to...well, more than one. It was glaringly obvious, but none of them had ruined the moment to ask about it. For that, she was grateful. But the time had come... "As for the name of Raidou...a successor has been appointed to restore the prestige that the Heads of the Yatagarasu feel has been lost of late. I'll remind you that this is no indictment of Ciela's talents. But rather, a recognition of another summoner's impeccable battle record: the former Geirin Kuzunoha XXII, you may know him as Kai, has been appointed to assume the mantle of Raidou Kuzunoha XX. No summoner in the last 50 years has had more success in combat as he has; thereby, the Heads of the Yatagarasu have decided he will restore the fear meant to be instilled by its hearing into the name of 'Raidou'. And as of this morning, the Kuzunoha Village Summoner Henry Plegia will begin training as his first apprentice. ...There's more, but after taking all that in, I'll give you a few seconds to process. Anybody have any questions?"

Jo(shu) Michieru, The New Geirin Kuzunoha the XXIII
Jo(shu) bowed, and let out an easy smile as the others praised him, stumbling very slightly as he adjusted his weight for Asuka's additional weight.
"Thanks guys." he called to Red, Yatsuda, and Asuka, along with the three new additions. Though he could sense some distaste from the new guy, and the new girl. Not that it would be hard to understand, considering how much of an outsider he'd been merely earlier in the year. He didn't feel like he had to say anything to them just yet, merely nodding along as Kyouji gave him his instructions for officially taking on the name. He was starting to feel a bit run ragged, but he couldn't complain with such a great Honor.
He stood and nodded his head as Kyouji continued to discuss things, talking of how Kai'd take on the role of Raidou Kuzunoha in Ciela's place, and how another summoner would be his apprentice. As she asked her questions, he shook his head.
"No questions here." he called quietly, bowing his head a bit. "I'd imagine they'll tell me when...or if I get any apprentices."
Hoo boy...not looking forward to another test. he thought to himself, slumping. Been one right after another.

Red
Red smile, continuing his applause...even as the others responded in turn. While Asuka, and Yatsuda were nice enough...Benny and Kansei were a bit......Bitter.
Can't really blame them...but.. he thought, before he moved over, and patted at Shu's shoulder, as if to tell him it'd be okay. He knew just how strong the new Geirin was, and he had no doubts in him being able to live up to the two's expectations. His eyebrows raised a bit as Kyouji spoke of the new Raidou, talking about how the old Geirin was taking over the role of Raidou, and he merely kept applauding politely. He paused a bit at the other familiar name, Henry, and he continued to applaud.
"Good on them." he called, smiling. As Kyouji asked them for any questions, he shook his head, merely waiting on the next piece of information she had for them.

Benkyou Resolvere

Benkyou bit her lip as Kyouji spoke to the outsider, 'Great-Summoner elect' as she put it. As soon as Kyouji started to talk at them, telling them to ask themselves why it was him..and not one of them. She wanted to say something, but knew better of it. She hadn't been around for actual missions lately, and the way that things sounded.....He had been.
She would just have to perform in missions, and let them know what a mistake it was for them to appoint an outsider to the title.
"Henry...?" she called, trying to ignore the fact that the former Geirin was being elected into the Raidou role, the most prestigious of the roles....And how the creepy blood-loving guy was getting to be his apprentice. She folded her arms, going silent once more as Kyouji gave them the chance to ask questions, giving them time to think. She closed her eyes at this, before asking the one question on her mind.
"Is Henry going to be....Okay?" she called, quietly. He seemed a bit..Off back in school, and after that little..incident....
She couldn't help but worry. Not just for Henry, but for the one that was going to be training him. She wanted to ask the obvious questions, but she could save them, until she'd seen the potiential new Geirin in action.

Asuka tightened her grip on Shu, reassuringly. "You've proven that have what it takes to carry the title, I'm sure you'll be an awesome master, Shu." She loosened her grip a little after she finished speaking, before grinning, "Or should I say, Master Geirin." Her comment was followed by a giggle, but despite that, once it was official, Asuka fully intended to show Shu the respect fitting his position, but for the time being, he was still her fellow apprentice.
She turned her head to one of the other Kuzunoha in the room and lightly shook her head, "No more questions from me, Master Kyouji."

Kyouji Kuzunoha X, Great Summoner of the Yatagarasu
"What's honorable is all a matter of perspective...I just do what's necessary."

The ongoing reactions of all the apprentices continued to be...amusing for her; she could practically hear Shu's stomach drop at the reminder that he was going to have to face the old Geirin in order to inherit his new name. It was custom, however, for the new to face the old before inheriting a new name. Normally, of course, the predecessors were long dead by the time that they had to face them, and in the case of Raidou it had been decided that it was simply better for Kai not to encounter the former again...but the Geirin line had always been sticklers about tradition, dating back to their strong ties to the Tsukigata Village in the early twentieth century and well before even that. Her old apprentice would just have to suck it up for that one; it was about time he learned what it meant to be a Kuzunoha, anyway. As for the others, the range of disappointment and excitement was to be expected. She didn't bother offering any further comfort to those who might have misgivings about the elders' decisions until now. They would come to appreciate the decision, or they would come to find themselves at odds with the Crows themselves...which never tended to end well for traitors. Even Cesc and Ovan were out there right now on a leash, days passing merely as a countdown until the injustice of their continued freedom could be solved by the agents of the Yatagarasu. Herself, if the task fell to her...she had a score to settle with the former, anyway. But in the moment, that was neither here nor there.

What mattered was that the day for her boy to become a man had arrived; as she had said, though, there was still more to be said after the announcement of a new Geirin, Ciela, and Raidou all in the span of a day. If that wasn't a sign of just how serious things (and the Crows themselves) had gotten in recent months, she didn't know what was.

"Now then," she smirked playfully, dragging a chair over from the corner to set at the far end of the table...kicking herself back in it casually and propping her feet up on the tabletop as though it were hers (oh, wait, it was!) and smiling at the rest of the gathered crew as though she knew something they didn't (which, of course, she did), "There's one more item of business I have...but I think we've had enough suspense already. By my authority as Kyouji of the Four Great Summoners...I've decided today that four of the five of you apprentices will be graduating from the rank of 'Apprentice' to the official rank of 'Master'. Two of you will stay on with Ciela and myself here...training as Inaba's official 'Central Mainland' Summoners. I'll be keeping an eye on your here, the same as ever...to make sure that if something unpleasant were to happen to our new Geirin and I, we won't be caught with our pants down again. ...Unless we want to be." Her coy smirk couldn't help but fly across the table at the newest Geirin and her other apprentices after a moment, attention turning to the others in a few short moments. "Red, Asuka...that's going to be your position from now on. You'll be working directly together with myself and Ciela respectively, both in the field and stationed out of my estate here. Benny, Kansei...the two of you are also going to be promoted from the Village and assigned nearby. Benkyou Resolvere, with your promotion, the Heads of the Yatagarasu want to assign you to the post of Protector of Okina City. Keep an eye on what's going on there and report to Geirin or myself, immediately. That will be your official duty...how you go about it, I leave to you. Kansei Ribasu, you're being assigned as a Protector of Iwatodai. Your duty is the same, but you've got more ground to cover. And if you get lost, feel free to make contact with a source of ours inside the Kirijo Shadow Operatives...I'll get you information on that later. ...And finally, Yatsuda, you get to stay with me and continue training...aren't you lucky?"

...

It was a day full of surprises, promotions, and changes within the organization, but if you asked her, it wasn't a bad thing at all, really. Everyone had a place..a duty that they needed to tend to...and from the looks on their faces, none lacked the resolve to restore order to their organization and the world around them. All that remained was to see it done. And she had very high hopes for each of them...

"And if there are no further questions..." she drew out the last syllable purposefully as if leaving it open...but shut it down with a slight tap of the heel of her shoe against the wood of the table, smiling faintly and crossing her arms behind her head, "I think a celebration is in order."

Jo(shu) Michieru
Jo(shu) could feel himself starting to flush again as Asuka referred to him as 'Master Geirin', before Kyouji continued talking, giving everyone their assignments, where they'd be stationed. He paused, a little dumbfounded as Kyouji made the little comment about being caught with their pants down, before she assigned Red and Asuka to training with Ciela and her. Benkyou and Kansei were next, going to Okina and having her report to him if something came up. Kansei was being sent to Iwatodai, with the same things.
"Send me a message, and I'll come running." he called, attempting to assure the two, even though they had a bit of a malevolent air about them. They were a bit envious...sure...But he had to prove himself to them. That shouldn't be too hard, considering how rough everything else'd been.
Hearing Kyouji close out, he chuckled at this, before glancing around.
"Yeah, a Celebration sounds like fun." he called, chuckling. "Something about celebrating a birthday, if I remember correctly, Hudamora?"

Red applauded as Kyouji spread about the Promotions for the others, pulling on his hat as she designated him and Miss Kuzunoha to working with Ciela and her, personally.
"I'm Honored, Kyouji-sensei." he called, bowing slightly, before turning to Asuka. "Looks like we'll be working together too. I'm honored to be alongside you, Bokuro."
He applauded Benkyou and Kansei, before Kyouji and the New Geirin affirmed their plans for celebration. He chuckled, and pulled his hat off at this.
"I could go for some downtime." he added, offering himself in. "Especially with all of you guys around."

Benkyou Resolvere

Benkyou kept her expression neutral as Kyouji didn't address her question about Henry. Rather, she and most of the others had been appointed to a greater title....The title of 'Master Summoner'
"Thank you, Master Kyouji." she called quietly, bowing as she was given her own assignment...the town of Okina City.
"I understand." she called, holding her tongue on the thought of being below the outsider....Though, if the heralds had appointed him to the title...And he actually managed to succeed the former Geirin, then he would have to have some kind of power....Though, she idly wondered if she could test him out beforehand...
A thought dashed as Kyouji remarked on a celebration being in order. She didn't raise her voice to ask about Henry, figuring that the previous Kai would be able to handle him. Instead, she merely leaned back, closing her eyes.
"I..suppose it is." she called cooly, taking a steady breath through her nose, and focusing.
Hmmm...

Sreze sat outside, under a tree, leaning against the side of his demon, Gdon, as he quietly read a book in the shade, occasionally taking a break to stare up at the sky through the branches.
Snapping the book shut with a soft flump, Sreze sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"What a waste of time, I already know all this"
The spine of the book read 'Summoning and You: A Beginners Guide'
"What I need is some clue as to how to get stronger, faster. There has to be a way, I need to pull my own weight around here."
The people at the estate had been kind enough to lend a bed to him after he had been assigned to Inaba, and so far he'd done nothing to repay that kindness, doing nothing but sitting around all day.
Another sigh followed the first as he dropped the book, he'd be back for it later.
"I guess I'll go for a walk around town, get my mind off things. Come on Flameclaw, time to go."
He stood and pulled out the summoning tube assigned to the Gdon, and channeled the demon back as it gave a grunt, before heading off into town.
