Hp: 432 Cp: 864 x 0.8 (Symbiotic Relationship) - 25 (Speed Burst x 5) = 666 Samehada Cp: 00 Dodge: 43 Reflex: 22 Attack Melee: 36/31/26/21/16
Hiru sighed as he had wanted his to see how his students would react to a first threat together, and it had actually turned out worst than he could have imagined... No one had done anything bu try to attack on their own, no one attempted any sort of special tactic: all they did was run in a straight line at it and attack or throw stuff at it, even though it was clear it would deflect anything.
Now seeing the huge squid, visibly irritated by the only student to have managed to put a dent on it, take a few potentially lethal swings at Mizuiro, he had no choice but to intervene. Accelerating his movements, he jumped in the water to block the squid's attacks and show the students how it was done.
Gekizou Sokuryoku (Speed Burst)
Through very basic channeling of swift chakra, the user briefly accelerates chakra flow and any basic movement to reduce the execution time. This technique is usually applied by shinobis to accelerate the weaving of hand seals or to speed up stance shifts. Rank: Ability, passive Requirements: Jinton Special: *User may pay 5 cp when performing an action or casting a jutsu to reduce the dice rolls required to use it by 1. *This ability can be repeated [Chakra Control / 10] times per individual attack or jutsu (for additionnal 5 cp per dice roll deducted, required number of dice rolls cannot go lower than 1).
Shoukenpou: Uke (Living Blade Art: Block)
Using a weapon to block an attack from another weapon is an essential skill to the survival of all shinobi. When blocking when Samehada, not only does it prevent the user form being struck by the blade but Samehada will use the contact to drain the attacker of some of his or her chakra. Cp Cost: n/a Dice Rolls: 2 Rolls Damage: Chakra damage. Special: *Use the formula 1D20 + [Samehada] + [Samehada cp / 20] against attacker's attack score. If the Block is higher, all damage from the attack is negated and victim takes chakra damage through a damage roll as though he had just been struck by the blade at 50% damage.
Block 1: d20 [20] + Samehada [44] + Samehada cp / 20 [00] = 64 vs 41 (Blocked)
Block 2: d20 [15] + Samehada [44] + Samehada cp / 20 [00] = 59 vs 28 (Blocked)
Block 3: d20 [01] + Samehada [44] + Samehada cp / 20 [00] = 45 vs 36 (Blocked)
Block 4: d20 [17] + Samehada [44] + Samehada cp / 20 [00] = 61 vs 26 (Blocked)
Block 5: d20 [12] + Samehada [44] + Samehada cp / 20 [00] = 56 vs 39 (Blocked)
Every swing the squid took was quickly deflected by Hiru, who easily prevented any of them from harming his student. As soon as he was out of danger, Hiru grabbed Mizuiro from underwater and tossed him inside the ship. Jumping back aboard, he signaled Batsu and simply told him. "Batsu, wrap this up quickly."----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Failure!Reward for Group (4 members): 15 XP

Batsu Watanabe Medic/Archer HP - 204| CP - 311|Mhp - 391 D: 45 | F: 10 | R: 23 |W: 21Batsu silently watched the going-ons in the water and barely was able to see Hiru-san jump in. However, before it could completely register in his head what was going on Mizuiro was back in the boat and Hiru-san came up shortly after. It was startling to say the least that the events happened so fast... but Hiru-san WAS a Hoshigaki and WAS one of the most powerful ninja in the village and perhaps the ninja world. But seeing him live versus hearing stories about him where two totally different things... and Hiru delivered. Batsu just watched in awe at Hiru's speed, but as he watched the Hoshigaki hop aboard the boat again, he heard him give the go ahead to shoot the octopus down. As he reached behind his back and pulled his bow and some arrows, something pinged. Hiru-san was not quite himself. What once was a business-oriented, cheerful fellow turned into someone crestfallen. That was definitely not what was best for the rest of the mission, so he hoped that he'd get it together or a conversation would have to take place. Nevertheless, Batsu loaded his arrows into the bow and drew back. Steadying himself and clearing his mind, Batsu focused only on the target and released the arrows into the water. (Note: Post assumes Batsu will take the squid out or at least get his attention significantly.) Turning back to his students, as nice as Hiru usually was, he could not, in this situation, completely contain his anger...
"At what point did you guys think attacking this thing head on was going to start working? Miraculously after five times it had swatted you or your projectiles off??" Cooling down a bit, he changed his tone to a more candid one: "You will sometimes face enemies who present peculiar challenges, and you will need to find creative solutions to take them down..."
"A creature grabs anything you throw at it as if it were nothing? Give it something it can only grab once!" Finishing his sentence, Hiru tossed a kunai attached to an explosive tag in the air and detonated it just outside the radius where it could cause damage to the ship.
"An opponent can get a hand on four targets at once or outnumbers you? Give him more targets to aim at!" As he was still talking, he splitted into three additional images, creating very basic bunshins.
"An attacker is too quick for you to dodge properly when attacking? Take a moment to assume a defensive position to properly see it coming and maybe use a kawarimi to get clear and come back strong!" He added, showing them a defensive position hodling Samehada.
"And most important of all, all of you ABSOLUTELY NEED to be able to defend your squadmates, otherwise don't even bother joining up with anyone!"
Turning his back to the students and returning inside the ship, Hiru took a deep breath and left his squad on this comment "You were a second away from having a casualty today, and none of you even tried to protect each other. I'll let you ponder about that tonight."----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take some time to watch Batsu finish off the squid and to regroup before the ship docks tomorrow morning.

Mizuiro was tossed on the boat and landed on his butt hard, but it wasn't that painful, he didn't even care, what embarrassed him was the fact he almost died, he didn't think the octopus would strike at him with all his might. But then he had to saved by his older clansman, which made it even more embarrassing. So he just sat there, listening to the lecture from Hiru and then carried on sitting there after it. He was now deep in thought over his mortality, and knew he had to be more careful from now on. Even a stupid octopus was a threat to his life, which was another thing to be embarrassed about, since his skills were superior in water. He wished he had killed the octopus.

Uchiha SakurayukiTAB TAB▬▬▬▬▬TABHp ღ MHp ღ CpTB50/50 | 50/50 | 60/60TAB TAB▬▬▬▬▬ Sakura yelped as she watched the octopus target Mizuiro. There was no way he would survive all those if hit directly. But there was nothing she could do. She watched in despair as the team simply seemed to fall into pieces. But then their teacher stepped in, and Yuki watched as the medic finished off the octopus they had been battling so valiantly before. They were both far above her league, especially the Hoshigaki that she had unwittingly underestimated. But none of that registered in her mind. Instead of relief that they were alive, she felt... anger. Anger and disappointment, to herself, but especially to the situation. She dropped her head and took the oncoming lecture from their sensei with shame.
He was right, of course. She couldn't use an explosive tag or try to dodge since she didn't have the materials and wasn't fast enough, but she should have been able to think of making a bunshin. She could only make one as of now, but if everyone else had done the same they could have had 8 targets to confuse the octopus. How could she have overlooked that fact? And he was right. She had tackled the octopus without any thought when Shiro had been taken and was absolutely useless throughout the whole of the fight. 'Unforgivable,' Sakura thought to herself as she closed her eyes.
As Hiru-san returned back to the ship, Sakura followed suit. She wasn't hungry anymore, and felt too sick to do anything else. Her fingers were shaking from sheer adrenaline and it wouldn't stop even when she clenched them tight, fingertips biting into her palm. Not even sparing a glance at the team members, she retired to her room and curled up with a blanket, burying her face in the pillow.
"Kuso..." she whispered to no one in particular, the word ringing in the empty and dark room.*Hiru you meanie! Making her cry! crying

Hiru sighed when he heard a door slam behind him and the clear sound of Sakurayuki starting to sob after his speech. Maybe he had went a bit overboard; but he really wanted these shinobis to start off on the right path, and not become mindless assassins that so many are trained to become.
Delicately, he opened the door to room where the genins would be bunking for the night and found the young kunoichi buried in her pillow, obviously trying to hide her sobbing. Calmly, he walked to her bunk and sat down at her feet.
"Yuki, I understand this is most likely your first mission and that you meant to do well, and, quite frankly, not panicking at your age when confronted with a huge tentacled beast was impressive in itself. However, you need to understand that shinobis who only know how to rush to a target and attack is no more than any of these thugs we strive to protect people from."
Reaching in her bag that was resting on the ground, Hiru pulled out the tessen he had noticed her having on her when they started out the mission. Looking a second at its mechanism, he deployed it to have a better look at the weapon. "You have a fine weapon with you here. I can even see it being used more defensively than offensively, something's that quite rare these days", he said while moving it around a bit. "Just promise me one thing, you'll learn to defend your comrades, or even that annoying merchant... with this weapon, and, in return, I'll help you work on a technique of your choice later so that your ninjutsu skills might allow you to make a couple of those bunshins next time.", he added with a wink.

Jinichi Iwao LV. 5 Hp: 50 / Cp: 65 / MHp: 50 Jinichi couldn't help but feel himself grow angry as their leader chewed them out, though he did his best to hide it. After all, HE hadn't just rushed into the battle, he had used tactics, no matter how simple, and was sure that his strikes would have been right on, had they not been blocked. As usual he didn't say anything, though he did nod that wrapping an explosive tag around his senbon may have been a good idea. He doubted he would've been able to activate though, it took all the speed he could just to hide and attack. When his teacher left he turned and gave Mizuiro a glare, he blamed him for the whole mess. If he hadn't been so stupid so as to charge in there, they might have had a better chance. "Fish for brains." He scoffed as he walked by and began to gather his senbon.

Mizuiro was not going to be insulted, he was also feeling shame for his mistake already, he didn't need salt in the wound. He stood up and walked over to Jinichi. "Apologize." He wasn't trying to intimidate, he just wanted an apology. Though his fists were clenched.

Jinichi Iwao LV. 5 Hp: 50 / Cp: 65 / MHp: 50 Jinichi shook his head. "No." He said simply, letting it hang in the air for a moment. "Your blind charge started this whole mess, and you never even bothered to think afterwards, therefore it is your fault." He added coldly as he walked away from Mizuiro and down into ship itself. Whatever anger he had been feeling was already beginning to disappear, as he thought out the last fight, judging what he could have done better,
