Magnus gave Kiki a small smile when she gave him another elusive answer. "I see," he replied. He paused when she asked him about his life objective. He was asking her what her life objective was but hadn't fully considered his own. How dumb was that? He thought for a moment. "I suppose it's to please my parents; to be ready to take my place as the Head of the Maxwell family when the time comes and-" he cut himself off. He had been about to tell her about his parents, but he wasn't ready to be that....personal yet. "And to bring honor to the Maxwells." He gave her a small smile, though deep down he was still wrestling with her question. He would have an answer for her. But not today.

Magnus gave a sigh and shrugged. "They are who they are. I love them anyway," he told her. "And I know they love me too." Magnus didn't sound so sure about the last part. He listened to the story of her mother and how she had preferred Ene over her. Magnus thought for a moment. Maybe she was so callous towards the death of her mother because she was afraid of how much pain it would cause her to deal with grief? Magnus was well-studied in many areas due to his parent's insistence on rigorous education. One of those areas included psychology. Of course he was in no position to make a diagnosis on Kiki, but it was definitely one theory. He looked down at her when she asked when the battle would start. Of course she was impatient to get to the action. Magnus had to admit he was too; he wanted to see what they could do as a team. "When the Suu woman shows up I suppose," he told her honestly. "I'm sure it'll be soon." He looked back towards the girl's fight with a giant demon. It seemed to be getting more intense. An idea came to him. "Tell me Kiki, do you acknowledge that there's people stronger than you out there?" He asked her curiously.

Magnus nodded. "I see," he replied, his tone suddenly much more serious. He turned back towards the roster and walked over to it again. "In that case, let's go all the way." He reached up and touched Suu's portrait again to cancel the fight and then reached up and touched the top one: Aris Hera "If what you say is true, we should be able to beat this one with no problems." Of course they wouldn't be able to. But that was the point. He wanted Kiki to find out her own limitations. It would be much better in a controlled environment like this, rather than on the actual battlefield. He wondered how she would take defeat. Would she become angry? Depressed? Would she accept her shortcomings and become stronger? There was only one way to find out and Magnus had to test it. He mentally steeled himself for the beating of a lifetime.

"Oh boy oh boy FINALLY!" Cheered a girl's voice. Seemingly from out of nowhere a young girl with pink hair hopped into the arena, standing before them with a big smile on her face, her voice and expression like a kid's on Christmas Day. "You guys by yourselves? Well....oh well. If that's what I get that's what I get!" She drew a katana from a sheath on her waist. "Okay guys! I'll wait for you to make the first move and stuff since I'm nice to people like that!" She waved her katana around in the air like it was a toy. "You gotta bring it on though because I don't like being bored!" She waited patiently, holding the katana loosely in one hand. "Wait....Okay okay ready!" She called, still grinning.

A lot like you... Magnus thought as he watched Kiki jump up into the air and turn into Weapon form. "Always," Magnus promised as he reached up and caught her in one hand. It was only when he looked back down at Aris that he realized his dumb mistake. He had left himself wide open for her to attack him while he had been standing there looking up with his hand outstretched. Fortunately she was true to her word, still standing there smiling as she waited for Magnus and Kiki to make the first move. He twirled Kiki around in his hand, taking a deep breath. This is gonna hurt a lot, he thought to himself about the battle in general. "Let's go!" He yelled, rushing forward as he raised his scythe to attack. At the last moment he jumped upwards and into the air, turning upside down as he sliced down at Aris's neck with the scythe blade. But his attack only hit empty air. "What the..!? He said. He looked back up while still upside down in the air just in time to see Aris's boot come downward on his face. He felt the sharp pain as Aris pushed him downwards, causing him to slam into the ground back-first with her boot still on his face. She stepped off his face and turned around to face him, looking down at him with her big grin. "Nope try again!" She said cheerily. Magnus grimaced and kicked to his feet, turning around to face her as he swung the scythe in a 180 degree attack, trying to slash her across the stomach. She bent backwards almost doubled, her pigtails fluttering in the wind of the scythe's passing. Aris stepped forward and kneed him in the chin while he was still trying to recover from the swing, causing him to stumble backwards. He felt the taste of blood in his mouth as he regained his footing. "Kiki, do that error thing you used while we were with Kuro!" He told her, ready to attack when she did.

"Alright. Let's go," he told her as time stopped. Aris stood stock still, the same grin on her face though now that time was stopped it seemed more like a creepy smile on a doll. He rushed forward, closing the distance between them and Aris in two seconds. He raised the scythe up into the air and swung downwards, slicing Aris straight across the chest. "Two seconds," he muttered as he raised the scythe again. He brought it down but suddenly Aris leaned backwards and the scythe missed. She reached out and grabbed the back of the scythe head. "Wha-? I thought you said five seconds!?" Magnus asked Kiki. He had been counting. That was definitely four seconds. Blood was already leaking from the wound Magnus has caused as time returned to normal again. "Wow you really slowed things down!" Aris said, sounding impressed. She didn't even bother looking at her wound as she swung the scythe around by the back of the head, tossing it into the air with Magnus still hanging on.

Magnus righted himself in the air and looked down to see Aris staring up at them. Suddenly she launched herself forward and up towards the two. She swung her katana in a full arc but suddenly time stopped again with the blade inches from Magnus's neck. He quickly fell down, landing on his feet. It was his turn to look back up at Aris. "Turn 2," he said as he jumped up into the air, carefully counting. he had to be sure this time. He raised his scythe up and slashed towards her legs which were the closest thing to him. Just before the hit landed she flipped upside down. It was four seconds again. The two of them were in the air again, Aris facing straight down towards him while he was looking up at her. Her hand shot forward and covered his face, blocking his vision. He pulled free from her grip but now before feeling the sharp pain of the katana pushing into his arm. As he fell back to the ground he looked over to see that she had pierced him in his right arm, drawing blood.

As Magnus landed, time stopped again. "Turn three," he counted. He looked up to see Aris frozed above him in the middle of her own descent. At least she was closer this time. He jumped up again, this time raising the scythe straight above his head and bringing it down hard, aiming to cut straight down her middle. It was too late again; that last second was crucial but for some reason it wasn't working. As he brought the blade down, Aris fell backwards. Still, he was close enough to slash through her shoulder before she moved out of the way. They both landed again and before Magnus had time to regain his footing Aris had already reached him. Instead of slashing out with her blade she punched him straight in the stomach, drawing a *whump* of released air as he felt the wind knocked out of him. He flew backwards but managed to land on his feet. Aris was frozen again, her fist still clenched and outstretched from her punch. "Turn four..." he said. "Wasn't it supposed to be five seconds?" He asked Kiki again, unsure what was happening.
