Codename: Babel Location: Tower Thoughts: Time Skippin'
Even though Mason annoyed the hell out of her most days, she couldn't help but smirk at his shock at her age. He was clearly skeptical, stating that she seemed to be the opposite of him at her age, "Oh, I don't doubt it."
Her tone suggested that she had little difficulty believing him, her mind racing with the shenanigans she was sure that boy had gotten into in his youth. "Can you even remember that far back," she asked in a joking manner, a catty grin spreading across her features. Going on to explain her qualifications for the "work" she had told him about, twisting her jibe about their respective levels of schooling. It made her laugh, as he often did, though his assertion that her ability made her acheivements less respectable caused a twinge of anger to twitch at the corner of her lips.
"Well, when you're good at something..." she trailed off, shrugging her shoulders.
Elke entered the conversation, Lily accusing him of only bothering her when the blonde was unavailable. Her eyes rolled heavenward when he assured her that no one on the base could take her place, the polyglot shaking her head. Looks like she was going to be on his annoyance menu for some time yet. If she was really honest with herself, she didn't mind - she could never tell him that, though.
Setting off into the hallways together to get breakfast, the unlikely pair was quick to find their plans interrupted by a call from their leader to head to the kitchen. She felt bad having to crush his hopes that they might still get a good breakfast out of whatever they were being called to do, but it had to be done. One of them had to act like an adult sometimes.
By the time they got to the kitchen, almost everyone else was assembled. Hazel eyes took them in, one at a time, trying not to stare at the newer ones of them. Mason couldn't help but lose his cool over seeing Gabriel Clyne in their midst. The whole thing made her roll her eyes slightly, giving their local celebrity permission to abuse their local iron man at his pleasure. Mason did nothing to deny it.
Striking up a conversation with another newcomer to their midst, Lily couldn't help but smile as Lola's face lit up at her speaking Atlantean. The girl responded in kind, asking if she had to learn every language. A soft laugh escaped her lips as she gently shook her head, "No, not really. It's kind of inate, I suppose. Not to mention, I've discovered and translated at least five previously unknown languages since I was 15. It's kind of a weird gift, but it's mine."
Deacon's voice came over the comms, calling the group to the training room for some sort of exercise. It was kind of the last thing that she wanted to do, though others of them looked to be happier about it than others.
Offering to show her new friend to the locker room to get them ready for the exercise, Lily was happy to take the cute Atlantean away from the boys already chomping her direction. The girl was eager to accompany her, the brunette leading the girl off into the tower.
- - - - - - - - - -
Lily chuckled as she saw the girl checking herself out in the mirror for an extended look, putting the finishing touches on her own uniform. Slicking her hair back into a ponytail to keep it out of her face, the polyglot waiting until the girl was ready to go before showing her from the locker room to the training room.
Walking into the training room after changing into her uniform, Lily couldn't help but notice that their leader wasn't there. Deacon was apparently the king of being fashionably late to his own parties. Mason seemed to be as upset about it as she was. Furthermore, there were additional faces that she didn't recognize.
She and Lola broke apart at first, the girl heading off to introduce herself to some of the others while she hung back with her arms crossed over her chest. The Iron Man mused that they might be called to spar with one another, a notion that didn't sit too well with the petite polyglot. Some of them were heavy hitters, some of them were long range hunters, and some of them were strategists. Of the three, she was certainly the latter. Sparring was about as appetizing as pickled pigs feet.
Laughing at Aurelio as he chimed in on her breakfast comment, she smirked in his direction. "We all have our alternative plans, don't we," she chuckled, attentions turning away as Nightwing entered. Lily simply took note of him more than rushing to say hello. The longer they all stood there without their leader, the more restless some of their number started to get. Gabriel called for others to join him in a shot, which was probably not the best idea she'd ever heard. If he puked, she'd have one heck of an "I told you so."
Finally, Deacon arrived, explaining the exercise that they were going to be subjected to. Trust exercises...how girl scout camp.
As the group started pairing up, hazel eyes scanned the room for a partner. Immediately, she thought of Mason, though she quickly dismissed that notion. The spirit of this exercise seemed to be getting to know the team, and she knew more about him already than she ever really wanted to. Not to mention, she wasn't sure she could trust him to take such na execise seriously. Instead, she turned to those nearest to her, sights falling on their new arabian knight. Putting on a smile, the girl walked towards him, raising her hand in a simple wave. She might as well take this opportunity to get to know some of the newbies. And from what little she had seen of him interacting with others since htey arrived, he didn't seem to be the worst choice.
"So, what do you say? You? Me? A Blindfold? What better way to get to know each other?"

NIGHTWING It was no denying that the stand-off of sorts in the hallway was tense. Nightwing was managing to keep his composure, but there was only so much dawdling he could do when there were more important tasks to perform. Luckily, he was able to get Gabriella to leave with him in order to leave Deacon and the mysterious two for a conversation. He made yet another mental note to himself to bug the place later; or, at least, covertly tap into the Tower's security system.
She didn't speak until they were outside of hearing range from the other conversation. His turned to her as they walked, but he was listening and processing more than anything. Her accent had shifted since they had spoken last – it sounded more English than American. No, not English – but close. Not exactly Scottish either. The vowels were a bit elongated and sing-songy. Welsh. Not exactly an accent he'd heard often, but luckily he had the process of elimination on his side.
But, back to her question. "Там нет необходимости для этого," he repeated. "There is no need for that. It's Russian. Their accents made me guess Eastern European – so I figured Russian was my best chance of communicating with them on their level; catching them off guard."
As they walked on, he considered bringing up her Welsh origins, but he didn't want to seem invasive. So, he stayed silent, ready to curtly ask any other questions she may have for him.
== Training Room ==
Many had noticed him when he and Gabriella had entered the training room – fortunately, no one had engaged in conversation with him. Not that he was anti-social; he generally preferred to observe much more before having a face-to-face meeting. He was already building on the mental (soon to be digital) files that he had of everyone here, but some were more extensive than others. He made sure to listen to the conversations around him, taking in as much information as he could.
There appeared to be a general discomfort with the fact that their leader was the last to arrive. Nightwing had to admit – it was extremely unprofessional. Then again, there was actually a decent reason: the two assassin-types that had shown up. Despite that, however, he had gotten an impression that this was typical behavior. Once again, Nightwing was questioning the validity of this group and his place in it. Helena's words rang out inside of his head as he thought more about it, so he decided to tough it out for now.
Granted, Deacon did eventually arrive, and introduced the two new 'recruits' as the "Wonder Twins". He didn't have much time to consider the horrible nickname choice as he spotted the last two that got to the training room – Aiden and Karmen. Remembering them from the nightclub incident, he recalled that they were some of the logical members here. Karmen had of course been the one that had been drugged, but it wasn't necessarily her fault. Aiden seemed to have a good head on his shoulders.
Nightwing watched with vested interest as Aiden went up to the team leader for a small aside that he couldn't hear. He tried to analyze their conversation by reading lips, but that wasn't exactly a skill he had picked up on yet. He observed body language instead: Aiden put up a good show, but the grin he plastered to his face was a bit forced. Friction within the ranks? Nightwing didn't doubt it. Approaching him as an ally would be preferable to some of the others, but from Nightwing's research, he knew that Aiden was an officer of the law. Police usually went one of two ways when it came to Nightwing: negative or positive, to put it in layman's terms. Then again, they were all vigilante-superheroes here, right?
After the little exchange between the two, Deacon started, spewing out some sort of sub-par inspirational speech about the first time their little group had gotten together (he was thankful to have not seen that), and then went on to describe a "trust exercise" that they were going to do. Nightwing squinted, as he was keen to do, in a sort of critical stare.
Just observing some of the people here, no one would take it seriously. You don't get to trust someone by doing a few summer camp games – you do it by fighting side-by-side, having them save their back and you theirs. This was… juvenile. Useless. A waste of time. The idea of this team was falling apart in his head by the minute.
The teams were announced, and Nightwing didn't recognize the name of the man that he had been paired with – one of the newer additions, one that had been added after the Vlatavan security incident. Nightwing stayed to his corner, hoping that he wouldn't be spotted by his 'partner'. He was hoping for a lot of things, actually. One was that he would be one of the last ones to go, or perhaps one of the other members would call shenanigans on this whole thing and a mass exodus (or better yet, mutiny) would follow. In a not-so-preferable scenario, something that would require the League's immediate attention would arise, and they would have to tend to that instead of this pesky 'trust exercise'.

current outfit
Even as tense as the room felt with so many charged emotions between the pair, Karmen couldn't help but roll her blue eyes heavenward when he called her a defeatist. Exasperated at his biased opinion, and a little defensive, she shook her head, blond tendrils swaying with the gesture. He didn't understand; he had no way of knowing, and she wasn't inclined to fill him in on the missing details. He did hit the nail on the head though when he said he was a guilty party. She froze, her gaze gelid with the accusation. Shifting her weight from one foot to the other, the pyrokinetic did her best not to fidget beneath his too-knowing stare.
But she couldn't deny it. From the instant they met, the easy way he was able get under her skin... how hard it had been to resist the urge to laugh, the way he made her feel safe on the first mission... He was exactly what she wanted to avoid, because falling would be too easy, and she vowed to never let herself fall again. The silence answered for her.
A long moment passed before she found any words. “It's not a physical danger you pose, Aiden.” She said quietly, seeing his unspoken rebuttal from a mile away. He thought she was safer around him – after all... when she was near him she didn't get drugged. He kept her from having a car crush her their first mission. No, she'd never worry about actual harm with him so close. But emotional wounds didn't heal in a way that others could see it fade; and if she let him too close, he'd have the power to destroy what was left of her. He insisted that the way she dealt with her grief wasn't the only option, but her lips pursed at that. “Maybe not, but I personally don't know any alternatives.”
Her eyes closed, veiling tears that had involuntarily sprung to her eyes. Breathing deeply, she forced herself to not let them fall. The concern she heard in his voice rang true; she should not have had to feel so broken before. Though reality had proven otherwise. Cody had broken her heart as easily as a baseball would have a glass window, and all that was left was jagged shards and slivers.
Their conversation about how the last ill-fated mission went down dragged on, and despite his logic countering her most vehement arguments, the blond could scarcely say she felt better about her part in it. Lily had been in danger, and she knew the kid didn't like her too much, but as the older woman she felt a little responsible for her. She promised her teammate that she would try to put the incident behind them, though both knew it wasn't likely to happen any time soon.
Deacon paged the entire team for some sort of exercise once again, which caused Karmen to shift about. They should have been scooting on down to the training, but instead a derisive growl escaped Aiden – making it plain what he thought of leaving when they were finally hammering things out. A giggle escaped her before she could stop herself. The sound, with how utterly strained they had been, hadn't been expected. With a team meeting in place, the time to hash things out grew short.
Her chuckle when he growled about the team meeting cut off his response to her acknowledging that he wasn’t the jackass who’d harmed her before. The sound silenced him and smoothed some of his rougher edges, but it was short lived. With Deacon calling, quite like his mother telling him to wash his hands before dinner, Aiden knew they didn’t have much time. His answer to her question regarding expectations felt reasonable, though she still felt as though he wasn't saying everything he wanted to. Likely, he chose to bridle his tongue out of fear of scaring her off and decimating all of the progress he'd made.
“Try.” She repeated sketchily. With so few words, the cryokinetic made it sound as though it were an easy task, and she knew better. She asked him how he'd feel if she were never ready to take the next step, and even still he minimized the feat, brushing past her fears as though they were nothing. He made it sound simple, like he wouldn't be disappointed if all they ever were was friends. While she could not put a finger on why, that scared her even more.
His joke about mullet rock versus girly pop garnered a small, wane smile, but it didn't reach her eyes. “You can't wait forever, Aiden.” He deserved better than that, and while he got on her very last nerve... Karmen didn't want to ruin him the way she had been. “Promise me, you won't.”
To the Training Session…
Swallowing what was left of her emotions from the conversation in the gym, Karmen sidled into the room behind Aiden, just in time to hear the rules. After a moment's hesitation, she tried to sound optimistic. Aiden caught on, and immediately fell back into his more natural demeanor. “I've never been to summer camp.” She admitted, the ghosts in her eyes not quite chased away, but fading fast out of necessity. “But I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't let an icky boy in my room.” A part of her felt another thrill that he wanted to do the exercise with her; another didn't. Despite the fact that she'd vowed to try and be more open, a trust exercise would likely only help his cause – the one she still wanted to delay for her own safety.
Not that she had the choice, however. Deacon had chosen for them and she gave Aiden a wave before glancing. Unfortunately, buddies were already chosen for them. Surprise, surprise—Karmen was paired to Mason. She cringed at that just slightly, afraid he'd bring up an old conversation that she rather wanted to avoid.
Smiling at her partner as he made his way over, she tucked a slip of blond hair behind her ear. “It's good to be back.” She lied confidently, unsure if it was just yet. Shrugging at his next question she sighed. “Family emergency... my brother landed himself in the ICU. But he's better now.”
A blush more than crept up her neck and cheeks when he teased her about their last assignment. “Don't remind me.” She whispered sheepishly, unable to meet his gaze then. But rather than leaving herself vulnerable to the electric shock syndrome, she swung the blindfold in the air near his face. “Actually, I think I've got your back this time.” She murmured coquettishly, trying to force him to forget the embarrassment he'd just caused her. Albeit reluctantly, the ironman agreed. “I would trust me more than I would you too.” She teased, gaze sparkling with authentic laughter.
“After all, you can rest assured I won't cop a feel when you're defenseless.”

"Brilliant." Brie complimented the caped man's deduction skills, silently comparing him to Sherlock Holmes. That he'd been so quick to assess the twins left her feeling a little exposed, but she couldn't bring herself to mind. Someone who was able to logically deduct important traits would be dead useful on the field, and Deacon had already made it clear that he desired her to follow the team out into chaos. "So with that, I would guess you've a hypothesis about me as well, no?" No doubt he would guess something from the United Kingdom. With a dismissive shrug, she let him know it didn't bother her, and that he was free to speculate if he would like. After all, a little conversation was welcome to break the tension.
Training Room
Coming into the room with Nightwing seemed to keep a lot of focus off of her arrival, and she was easily able to skirt to the back of the room without a lot of attention. While she could technically be considered the shiny new toy, she only felt a few people boring holes into her with their stares. She pretended not to notice when a tanned girl (Isis) took her in with some regard, as though trying to size her up. Instead, she glanced about the room, nothing in particular capturing her focus.
The biokinetic hadn't realized just how knotted her stomach had become out of concern for Deacon until he appeared in the training room. Letting out a sigh, the tension left her shoulders, relieved that the two strangers did not cause too much trouble. The captain apologized for the delay - matters in his office had kept him busy. Emerald gems stared downward guiltily; she'd been a catalyst for the rest of the team waiting. When Deacon introduced her, she gave a polite wave to the room, her smile bright and inviting. A guy with brown hair (Mason) gave a friendly smile and made a remark about wishing to have another power. She didn't fully understand it, but the flirty undertones of the comment were clear. "Fakers will be required to drink a spoon full of bitters at every visit." She teased back with a wink, silently hoping she'd gotten his meaning right.
Listening to the exercise instructions, Gabriella bit her lip out of nervous habit. Sure, she'd been introduced to the residents of the tower now, but having them know her name didn't make her comfortable with letting one of them lead her blindfolded over an obstacle course. Eyeing her old friend, the frown set at the corner of her mouth expressed her dismay. "As long as I'm not first," she muttered, wanting as much time as possible to memorize the course. He asked for a volunteer to walk him through it first then and laughter rolled in her stomach, almost willing to step up to the plate. Almost, not quite.
She'd been assigned to work with a man named Aiden, who had taken a moment before coming over to her to speak with the team leader. Unable to hear what was said, Gabriella watched the muted exchange, noticing the smile thinning as the man spoke. She hadn't realized that he was her partner until he waltzed over to her, the abrasive appearance all but evaporating when he greeted her, hand out for her to shake. Returning his beguiling smile with one of her own, Brie shook his hand, neither weak or overly firm. "Probably not; I just got here about an hour ago." She greeted, the slightest hint of her accent dwelling in her vowels. "But I'm sure it's a pleasure all the same."
Whatever beef he had with Deacon hadn't soured his personality completely or even at all toward her, so she didn't attempt to pry into what the exchange was all about. Once more, she glanced at the pylons, the sparking foreboding of intense pain. Aiden folded the blindfold and she cleared her throat, unsure of who he intended to wear it. Deeply exhaling, she couldn't have even tried to hide her ease when he offered to go blind first. With a small, almost musical laugh her dark head bobbed with a nod. "Why, certainly. Though I will have to apologize now... this will be my first obstacle course in years, so we both might make a few missteps." She'd do her best to not let him get hurt.
Taking the bandana he'd folded so perfectly, she moved behind him and tied it, giving it a gentle tug to make sure it was secure. "I will promise to make sure any injuries you incur from being unfortunate enough to nab me as a partner will be taken care of."

ʟᴇᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴅᴇsᴇʀᴛ sᴀɴᴅs ᴄᴏɴsᴜᴍᴇ ʏᴏᴜ Isis teased him about being the Sandman, bringing her a dream. Although now that he thinks of it, sand is more likely to wake you up than put you to sleep if put over you eyelids. The granules of eroded rock would be irritating to the eyes, not soothing as the tales would say they were. But the joke brought a smile on his face all the same, "Perhaps I was. I hope they were sweet dreams."
The look on Lola's face when he dissolved into said was almost worth it, but the thing was, he may of also shocked her into believing she did something wrong. Thank goodness he reformed almost immediately. And instead of being horrified, as many people in Islambad was when they first saw him do this, she acted more like a kid in a toy store. Her reaction also told him that his original thought of her being a stranger in a strange land, was actually correct. Except her comment about surface people told him she wasn't a native of any continent. This could also explain why she thought his suit and tie was too restricting, or the fact she didn't even know what a tie was.
"Indeed Lola, I am a business man of sorts. Or I was, but circumstances forced me to 'retire' from my original line of work," Aman answered as he loosened the tie until it no longer looked like it came off his neck whole. He then proceeded to go through the whole process to put it back on his neck as he continued talking. Or he was about to continue talking, but the bubbly sea dwelling woman was once again bouncing over to the Ifrit like woman (Dahlia). But, female company would not take long to find him, for once again another woman was beside him (Lily). As he had thought before, she looked much younger than a majority of the people here, and her choice of attire exposed one of her best assets. But the moment she spoke, he figured she was worth getting to know.
A smile appeared on his face after he finished putting back on his tie and he answered her, "I would of personally preferred to get to know you while enjoying a good dinner and wine, but this will have to do," he answered, a bit of humor and charm added while he added, "I am Aman, and you name is?" She would notice a hand was out, hoping that she would shake it. After all, every acquaintanceship starts with introductions, usually accompanied by a handshake. Although the task Deacon set before them meant that he didn't want to be responsible for hurting her, he also couldn't really take being shocked too well. If he was in the wrong form when shocked, he could lose control of his entire body and possibly die. But Lily from what he guessed, couldn't do anything like that. So like a gentleman, he would put on the blindfold first.
But when he looked around, he noticed that everyone else had a pair....except for one. Although they were considered the Wonder Twins, Reina had the unfortunate problem of not being with her twin for this exercise. Whether this was on purpose or not, he planned to fix that. Even though there will be three people now, he will incorporate her into the exercise, "I'll be right back," he said to Lily before he made his way over to where Reina was.
"Hello there, my name is Aman, and I noticed that there is a slight issue with this arrangement that Deacon put forth for us....you have noone partnered with you. So, out of generosity, I would like for you to come with me and my partner so you don't feel left out," Aman asked with a genuine smile. Although he didn't know that Reina would have a hard time trusting anybody to begin, and that isn't easily cured by blindly running around electrified pillars.

 Savanna Carrol
Savanna’s eyes rolled towards the heavens as she listened to Aurelio. She saw the look on his face as she sized up one of the new members. Though sized up may not have been the right word. "Right." She shook her head for a moment before letting out a sigh. "We can’t even get our s**t together, let alone having new people are there s**t to the pile." It was true Vanna was difficult to get along with, but she did what was requested of her, she did what she needed to do. Even if she didn’t quite agree with it.
She couldn’t help but blink at his explanation of the com device. "I still think it because of the sparky thing." She said with a shrug. "That amulet thing is the off factor with you, and honestly seems like you don’t have all that much control over it. But whatever, it’s too bad we don’t just have telepathy to take care of it." Not that she would want telepathy. There is no way in hell she would want the others in her mind, or at least the option to hear them in her mind. Out loud and around her was enough.
She had taken the time to hop onto the balance beam, her feet positioned just so and arm at her sides. "Maybe one day you’ll have to explain it to me. But today is not that day…" She said as she looked to him. "And neither is tomorrow, there is an awesome sale going on that I have to go to." She was somewhat interested in his magic and the explanation, but he would have to catch her on a good day, one where she felt like being bored and had the ability to pay attention. She didn’t have much of an understanding of her own power, and perhaps she could correlate the two.
They both seemed to offer answers to her question. Both likely in her mind, though the question had been used to prod a bit of small talk amongst the group. "I figured as much." She said, agreeing with the both of them. "Though ice cream sounds like a better plan than the rest." Deacon Richards Location: The Training Center Thoughts: Christ I hope I don’t get electrocuted, or stabbed…
The excitement over the training exercise was… palpable to say the least. He saw their already wonderfully happy faces turn super freakin’ thrilled when he gave them his word. The truth was, they had zero capability as a team in its current state, himself included. Surprisingly, he had some method to the madness again with the exercise, in particular with Dahlia and the new members. Dahlia was, in spite of her position as a member of this team, somewhat lacking in the realization of what her position would entail. This, and hopefully other exercises would help emphasize her understanding just what being a part of this team meant. The truth was these guys needed to depend on each other in a situation, he couldn’t have them going up against a super villain wondering whether or not the person right next to them was going to turn and run the first chance they got.
Especially with the Wonder Twins that he so jokingly referred to them as. He looked to the two of them and gave them both a look that showed he was joking. He meant no harm in the choice of words, but the fact that he was in charge of a pair of fraternal twins with powers that while separate, were mutualistic in nature, he couldn’t resist the temptation.
Karmen and Mason’s pairing was done for the firestarter’s sake. He knew that she was dealing with some issues from the last mission, and he needed to get her past them. Pairing her with Mason while in some minds may not be sensible, was just what he needed. He needed her to understand that in this business you are going to need to trust everyone, even the people you were wary of.
Of course it also had the side-effect of bringing Aiden’s attitude to the front. He made a calm threat regarding ice if Karmen was put in harm’s way.
With a stern tone he simply responded, “Stow away the attitude officer.” it was a simple response that he just wasn’t going to have it. He wasn’t going to be intimidated by this cryokinetic cop’s puppy love. Of course, judging by Nightwing’s body language he also had a wavering conviction. There could only be so much one could do outside of the battlefield. They’d only had two missions with a 50% success rate. Sure, fighting experience was one thing, but not trying to cultivate a sense of camaraderie outside of that? Frankly it’s a foolish notion. This was the same kind of thing done in the military, and while this team wasn’t a military outfit they did need to be a team in the a sense.
It was all they had at this point.
Looking to Savannah, probably the friendliest of the bunch (sarcasm noted) he asked politely, “Care to shock your leader for wasting time? I know I earned that much.” He was truly sorry for wasting their time, between the different team members being brought in it was likely an enticing offer to say the least.
Thankfully Deacon decided to join them sooner rather than later, not that he wasn’t late already. She hadn’t even had the time to do one flip before he announced their fate. With a grunt Savanna turned and crouched letting her weight rest on her hands for a moment as she slid her legs from beneath her to the floor in one fluid movement. She dusted her hands as she listened to the instructions. He face soured. Why did she have to be paired with him? With visible disdain on her face she approached her partner for the exercise, arms crossed over her chest.
"This." Savanna said with a simple flick of her wrist. "This is what you want us to do? This is what you kept us waiting for? This is what we had to change into our uniform for?" She couldn’t help but roll her eyes. "At least it will be you who’s blindfolded."
For a moment Savanna was actually taken back by Deacon’s question. Her lips pressed into a thin line for a moment as she glared at him. "Am I really that untrustworthy?" She asked, leaving him little time to answer. "No, shocking you would be a waste of my time. I want this to be over as quickly as it can be. So as long as you can listen, you’ll be fine."
He took note of her face when he made the announcement, pretty much what he expected. She basically made it clear that he wasn’t worth torturing, and that she had better things to do. Given how he was the past few weeks, perhaps he deserved it. Though hopefully he could get things rolling.
“Please, tell me how you really feel there Savanna.” he said, adding a tad bit of sarcasm, his tone acknowledging that he was a bit of a dumbass in recent times. Taking the band, he wrapped it around his face, covering his eyes. He snapped his fingers, and changed the pattern of the course into a new one.
“Lead on, you’re the boss now.” he said, offering an outstretched arm towards the course for her to lead him through.
The scowl on Savanna’s face deepened even more, as it it was even possible in the first place. The man standing before her was going to single handedly be responsible for all the wrinkles on her otherwise flawless face. "Really?" She asked, sarcasm dripping from her own words. "I don’t really think you want to go there right now." She said, her eyes narrowing into slits as she looked him in the eye. So what if she said that shocking him was a waste of her time? You would think he would have been happy about that.
Vanna couldn’t help but roll her eyes as she passed his outstretched arms as she folded her own over her chest. She counted her steps as she moved towards the first turn. "Five paces directly a head then turn to your right." Even with the instructions, her voice still held it’s impatience. "And if you take baby steps, I swear I will let you shock yourself."
Two turns went down fairly quickly, though they didn’t seem to be that much closer to the end. She continued to count in her head to tell him the paces, though it all came to a halt as they approached a set of steps. "The hell is this s**t?" She asked, knowing full well he couldn’t see what she was talking about. "Wait there." She said as he stopped before the steps. She made her way up, pausing again on the platform.
There before her was a tightrope. She closed her eyes and groaned. She knew she could make it with no issue, but Deacon? She doubted his ability to perform it at all, let alone in a blindfold. "Eight steps up to a platform that leads to a tightrope. How do you want to handle that?" There were two ways to go about it that Savanna could see, he could either try his hand at walking it, or hang like a monkey. Either way, he needed to make a decision. Thankfully the platforms were not that high up, something that Deacon could easily fall from with no issue, well other than the electric floor beneath them.
He took note of her scowl, he’d get a word with her at some point. At this rate, he’d get the team to hate him enough to actually work together. And that was the best case scenario. He could feel her displeasure as she took the lead, remarking that she would have him shocked if he took baby steps.
He nodded curtly, “Understood.” he needed them to understand that he was giving Savannah the reigns. This certainly wasn’t the most realistic way to convey it, but he needed them to understand that their lives depended on each other. Injury, stress, disability, it could all cripple them at any moment. He wouldn’t be able to take charge, sometimes someone else needed to take the reigns if he was down.
And in his mind, Vanna might be his first choice for that. Her no-nonsense attitude meant she wouldn’t put up with anyone’s b.s., even his.
He listened to her instructions, stopping when she began to curse. Likely an obstacle that wasn’t expecting, keyed in by the informed statement about the tightrope.
“You could guide me over. You go in front, or back, and hold tight. I may not look it, but I am able to hold a balance if I have an anchor of some sort. Your call on this.” he answered, his voice calm, deferring to her on this. She had the eyes, and control over the situation.
Savanna watched Deacon come up the steps. She was probably lucky he couldn’t see the look on her face. It was one of doubt and irritation. "You really want to try that? I figured you would have coped out for the hand over hand drag the feet s**t." She gave a sigh and shrugged. "Whatever. Just keep pace and don’t make me fall." She said as she positioned herself behind Deacon.
"Arms out, feet positioned heel to toe." Savanna instructed as she positioned the poor boy. "As long as you can walk a straight line, you should be fine. Don’t stop, if you’re gonna’ fall, you’re gonna’ fall. Stopping won’t do nothing but piss me off. Try to use your arms, and only your arms to keep balance."
After looking his posture over once more she spoke again. "Back straight, head up." She then placed her hands on his sides. "Don’t rush, keep it steady, and don’t go getting all hot and bothered either." The words were meant to be teasing, but her voice didn’t convey the emotion seeing as she was still not pleased with him. "Begin, heel, toe, left, right, left, right…" She said in a slow rhythmic pattern. The words falling from her mouth like the rhythm to a song.
Deacon seemed to be slightly wobbly, causing Savanna to increase her pressure on his sides in an attempt to keep him steady. Her own breathing was steady as she repeated the words over and over, not caring if he found it annoying or not seeing as it seemed to help keep the smooth pace as they neared the middle of the rope.
There was a wiggle and the rope gave way. The sudden drop made Savanna yelp, though it wasn’t long before the two were in a pile on the floor, the surge shooting though their bodies. The word escaped Savanna’s mouth. "Someone ******** turn it off!" She landed on her hip hard, making it somewhat painful to move at that moment, let alone get up a ladder at either side of the pit thing they were in. .
He could hear the doubt in her voice, resigning herself to his suggestion. In truth he was disappointed. He wanted her to make the call, not follow his suggestion. But they were in it now. He felt her hands on his sides, as he put his feet along the rope. She was surprisingly calm, and instructive. He gave her props for remaining calm, even when he wobbled a bit.
However, something flitted past him. He didn’t know what, but he couldn’t help but notice something. The rope giving way as he felt his feet being taken out from under him as he fell down into the pit.
The electricity was pure agony, every molecule in his body was going haywire, he could barely move let alone speak. He heard Vanna say something about shutting the course off. Luckily, he’d implemented a command override into the system for just an occasion. It shut down as her voice echoed through the training facility. His body steamed a bit, as the molecular nightmare that was instigated by the surge of electricity ended. He started to stand up, attempting to get up to help Savannah. God knows that she would likely want to claw his face off.
With a grunt he asked her, “Are you alright?” he knew that he was in absolute pain, but he didn’t care. He needed to know that she was ok.
That another teammate wasn’t hurt on his watch.

The biggest problem with immortality is finding ways to spend it. He sat in the air, legs crossed, elbow on his knee with his fingers tapping impatiently against his cheek while he tried to determine what to do. Sifting through different ideas in his head, none of them seemed to pop out at him... Been there, done that. Didn't work... Superman would expect it. He'd clearly hit a rut.
The last few times he'd made it to his dimension, he was only there for thirty seconds before being sent back. Clark had been ready. Maddening as he found it, his obsession to finally beat Superman continued, throbbing within him. Even though, last time, the caped hero hadn't wanted to play. He'd been busy...
What he needed was a new plan, just to shake things up a little. He found himself in dire need of a test subject, a way to make a plan that Superman wouldn't be able to beat. Deciding to head for Earth, he threw a backhanded wave to his wife, Gsptlsnz. "I'm off to beat Superman... don't wait up."
Even has he popped out of their dimension and into Clark Kent's, he didn't like the expression of incredulty and the complete lack of faith she had in his idea. "See you in a few! She called out, dismayed over her husband's newest obsession.
The Justie League Tower felt quiet. Peeling himself from within one of the walls, a malicious giggle escaped him, the sound gleeful and anxious. Once again, he was back and ready to cause trouble. Tingling with excitement, he wandered through the halls, searching for his favorite nemesis. But he didn't find Little Boy Blue. Instead, Mxy happened upon what appeared to be a team exercise - with people he'd never seen or heard of before... And he highly doubted any of them were cohorts with Clark Kent. None of them would have heard of him. Perfect. Instantly, his eyes became alight with possibilities. These people would make for the perfect set of guinea pigs.
"Oooh-whooo-oo" The reality warper snickered. Within the blink of an eye, he made himself invisible and crept into the training room. He yanked on a few of the girls' hair while they watched a pair of people start an obstacle course, and gave several of the more domineering men hard shoves while still invisible.
But just as the pair started across a high rope part of the course, he snapped his fingers, and the binding fell apart, leaving Savanna and Deacon to start a very short but fast drop to the floor sparking with electricity. "Oops." He exclaimed, finally appearing before the group. Grabbing his toes, he did a few backwards somersaults through the air, his laughter riddled with menace. It echoed over Savanna's screams for the others to turn the electricity off, which didn't seem to bother him one bit. "Did I do that?" He asked, feigning innocence for only a short moment before his giggles took over.
"You should be more careful." With that said, he disappeared into the ceiling, only to materialize near Nightwing's feet. Shaking his head, he couldn't help but admonish the rag-tag team. "Looks like you all need to clean up your act a little. Allow me to help." Another short burst of snickers resonated through the room, almost as though his guffaws were palpable, wrapping around them. But he was no where to be seen.
Though, their immediate concern wouldn't be with him... it should be with what he'd done. The doors bolted shut from outside, the electricity slowed until not even a hum from the generators could be heard - indicating that he'd shut them down completely -and the room began to fill with a thick, vast ocean of bubbles. In a matter of seconds all of the surfaces became slick, and the foam began to rise. They'd be swimming before long.

Aiden Gavin Duskxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx G L A C I E Rxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Cryokineticxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Thinking About: ............xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Located In: The Towerxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
“Try.”, Aiden confirmed quietly, trying to give Karmen some kind of reprieve from the strain of their conversation. He could see the toll it was taking on her nerves. The cryokinetic didn’t have such a stringent one track mind that he would place his own needs above hers. A friend or otherwise… She didn’t deserve the way she’d been living. Avoiding real contact, afraid that someone new might crush her. “You can’t disappoint me.”
Contrary to what she believed; He didn’t expect anything from her. If it turned out she wanted a friend, he would be that. So long as she stopped cutting him out when she needed someone most.
His partner smiled a little when he mentioned music, and the former cop matched it, realizing that she was still wary. He could hardly blame her, all things considered. A slight chuckle echoed in his chest when Karmen claimed that he couldn’t wait forever, and he shook his head. She could be the most stubborn-sweet thing when she wasn’t ready to claw his eyes out. “I don’t make promises I can’t keep, K.”
At least he gave her the truth, even if it wasn’t what she wanted to hear.
To the Training Session…
“You’ve never been to summer camp?”, Aiden questioned the fire-starter teasingly, eyes wide with mock surprise, as if this was an entirely unacceptable. His eyebrows rose a little while he tsk’d under his breath. “And here I thought I’d heard everything.”
“They may not roll out the red carpet and let us boys in…But we’re pretty resilient.”, the cryokinetic offered up after a moment, doing his best to help the small woman at his side relax. Their impromptu conversation had definitely put her on edge. Even if he couldn’t always see it, he could feel it. “If I thought you were a gross girl, I’d put mud in your hair.”
“But if I thought you were really, really gross, and therefore very much so like myself—I’d leave mud pies on your pillow and swamp frogs in your bunk. You’d never sleep again.”
He was joking for the most part. Camp was mostly a boring experience, but he’d learned a few invaluable survival skills. Like how to make a fire out of nothing, or the easiest way to skin a rabbit.
Karmen took her leave, giving him a small wave to which he grinned reassuringly in her direction. He hoped she was feeling a little more secure about her status as valuable member of the team…But he wouldn’t hold his breath. She seemed to be the type that held on to her shortcomings so tightly that she didn’t have any room for anything else.
His subsequent talk with Deacon was unfortunately short lived. Aiden had been hoping against all hope that the leader of their little vigilante group would have given a little more than two shits about one of his team members. There was likely a laundry list a mile long that the man needed to take care of, he was sure, but somehow those items never seemed to have a thing to do with mentoring his team. He’d tried hard to be polite in the time that had passed, despite his obvious frustration creeping through, but still—Nothing. No remorse, not a twinge, not a sign of improvement.
“I stopped being an officer the minute I stepped foot in this compound. I’m not calling you out disrespectfully across the room for everyone else to overhear, even though I expected you to talk to her sooner. So believe me…It’s not an attitude, it’s a promise. I trusted you to make the right calls on our last outing, and you can’t say I don’t follow orders on the field. This whole exercise is about trust…So it’s your turn to trust me. She doesn’t need Mason, she doesn’t need me—She needs you. One conversation doesn’t sound like too much to ask for.”, Aiden peeled himself away from Deacon, blue eyes actually freezing over. The cryokinetic knew that the man was likely steaming in his own way, considering his word choice, but patience clearly didn’t get the job done. Any leader worth his salt could see that the pyrokinetic was bothered. Hell, they’d both disappeared for over a week. If that didn’t throw up a red flag and warning bells, he didn’t know what would.
Aiden honestly couldn’t believe that in all this time Deacon was too busy to call Karmen in. Maybe it was just his “cop puppy love” that clouded his judgment, making it seem like a girl that was drugged on their last mission should be evaluated by her superior, but it really didn’t feel unreasonable. If it had been Elke, hell, if it had been Mason, he would have expected the same. He couldn’t be the only one on base who knew that a roofie could screw with the victims’ mental status.
He shook his head as he walked over to Gabriella, blinking the ice out of his eyes. As much as he didn’t want to butt heads with Deacon… That seemed to be the way it was gonna be. The former cop had been on his side walking in to a dog fight with Amazo, had remained there throughout the debacle with the Prince’s…But his failure to address the aftermath rubbed him the wrong way. Being dismissed like a greenhorn, rubbed him the wrong way.
It was clear that being frozen hadn’t done him any favors. He was still just a kid that didn’t seem to know the break from the gas—Ineptitude hidden by a title.
Aiden spotted Nightwing, but there wasn’t too much to say at the moment. He gave the masked man a friendly nod. Considering Aiden wasn’t part of the force any longer, he wouldn’t take issue with the caped man’s vigilante status. He remembered him from the hotel… And technically, they all fell under the same banner.
He shook Gabriella’s delicate hand as amicably as he could, head inclining in her direction. “Much obliged, ma’am.”
“Can I ask where you’re from?”, He thought he’d detected a little bit of an accent when she spoke, but it was light enough that he couldn’t discern the origin. Just because his mood had been destroyed didn’t mean that he had to ruin this lovely lady’s day as well. One bad turn didn’t deserve another. She looked so relieved when he insisted on wearing the blind fold first that he chuckled, reaching up to rub the back of his neck. “You’ll do fine, I’m sure.”
“I can’t imagine the current is that strong. I’ve been tazed at the police academy during practice. It isn’t pleasant, but it can’t be much worse.”, after all, why would there be a shock stronger than a taser in a trust exercise? Aiden really should have thought about the premise a little more carefully before deducing it wouldn’t be that bad. He paused as the small woman plucked the bandana from his hands, tying it securely on his head. She was gentle, and not at all hard on the eyes. Were it not for the fact that he already had someone in his sights, he might have looked twice.
When she promised to take care of his injuries, he couldn’t help his curiosity. “I don’t think you were an unfortunate choice. I could have gotten Mason… But what do you mean, take care of it?”
Aiden really didn’t know anything about her, and once the lights were gone… He knew even less. Her face was just a distant memory. It wasn’t long before he heard the other teams getting started, but he waited patiently for the little lady he’d been paired with. She seemed nervous, and he wouldn’t rush her. “Whenever you’re ready.”
That time apparently never came because some strange noises followed by screaming had him snatching his blindfold off. The room had already started to fill with…Bubbles? Soapy liquid? Was this part of Deacon’s zany exercise? He reflexively used his gifts to draw a foot high circle of ice around himself and Gabriella. The electricity had shut off moments before he did so, and he heard the doors lock. Great.
If that wasn’t the worst of it, there was little creepy toad disappearing and reappearing, taunting them. Exactly who was he? “What the…”
His first instinct was to try and freeze the rising liquid, but ice could be just as slippery as soap. Or sticky, if the compounds didn’t cool correctly. Aiden wasn’t sure how to go forward. They were there to follow orders, but none had been given, and he wasn’t one to stand idly by. “If you could heal my injuries ma’am—Do you think you can take a look at Savannah and Deacon? Whatever just happened sounded painful. It looks like the electricity is down, so it should be safe.”
Not exactly waiting for a response, he again utilized his ability to create a clear path between himself and the pair that had fallen. The ice pushed the water away, staggering what was left so that Gabriella’s shoes could find purchase and she’d not fall. His expression had become chilled, the gentleman’s grin he’d worn previously all but lost. “Be careful regardless.”
It was true; It should be safe for the time being…But the water rising in a seemingly sealed room immediately made him think of drowning. They needed a way out quickly before air became an issue. Deacon might have had a failsafe, but somehow the little toad made him nervous. If that was the case, what was the point of locking them in?
Glancing towards the exits he frowned as he started to slide into a more combat oriented mode. Cupping his hand over his mouth he glanced toward Mason, taking careful steps. His ice walls kept his feet dry for now, but it wasn’t a permanent fix. Briefly he wondered how Karmen would fair at heating up enough to make it evaporate; But it definitely ran the risk of the causing the liquid to boil. “If I freeze the door, do you think you can try and kick it in?”
Metal frozen to an extremely low temperature could become far more brittle than it normally would be. It was a training area, used to taking some damage, but it was worth a shot.

I am god, and so the Antichrist. I'm blessed, yet damned. I'm fallen, yet resurrected. I'm all of nothing! Ðąɧʄȉą Location: Outfit: [The Demoness] Weapons: [Longsword][Shield] There were dozens upon dozens of concepts the humans of this world understood that it seemed Dahlia would never be able to. The list was probably innumerable, and she could not guess which of these she understood the least, but she had to figure that somewhere near the top of the list was this thing they called “trust.” Thus, her face turned unreadable as the leader of this particular team told this group that they would be doing “trust exercises.” This only confused her further. How did one exercise trust. She barely understood it as a concept to begin with, but she knew it was not a physical thing that grew stronger with use, the way a muscle would if she exercised it often. How did one grow stronger in trust? It did not make any sense to the demoness. The very idea baffled her utterly. The demoness had no use for trust in a dimension ruled by the concept of survival of the fittest, where demons constantly betrayed each other to gain power themselves. It was the natural way of things, or so Dahlia believed, and the idea that she would be made to trust others was a laughable concept at best, insulting at worst. The demon queen did not take kindly to insult.
The demoness's attention mostly glossed over all the newcomers. They all had different names, but they all looked pretty much the same to her. They had such soft, weak flesh and too many vulnerable points in their bodies. They were inherently weak and prone to sickness. Sure, some had minute differences such as differing skin tones and hair, but that just made it all the more confusing for her. And they all had names. In Hell only the most important demons had names, or at least names anyone cared to remember. Demons made their own names through renown and reputation. But these humans named all their spawn, with no regard for worthiness. How was she supposed to remember them all when they all looked so unremarkable? None of these creatures even had talons, or tails, or horns, or tentacles, or exoskeletons, or any other such traits to make them truly stand out from each other. They were all so small and weak and unremarkable... and in this body so was she. But at the very least she got to keep a few of her less human traits. If only the rest of her body could have made it into this foul dimension.
Their so-called leader explained that one of each pair would guide the other along a set path, and that if one should fail they would find themselves attacked by electricity. If nothing else, that could be amusing. But she could not help but be disappointed at how easy the exercise was made to be. All she would have to do was grab whoever she was supposed to be guiding, then teleporting with them to the end location. The child never said anything about not being allowed to use such methods. He simply stated that one party would guide the other, but never how. Since she was not likely to use her weapons in the coming exercise, she slid her arms through the straps of the shield so that she wore it like a backpack. She crossed her arms, staring on at the others with only a minimal amount of interest. She did not really move when the group started splitting into pairs. Whoever had been assigned to her would come to her, so she expected.
And come they did. It appeared that she was being paired with the one that called itself Lola, the other fish out of water of the group. She regarded it with an inadvertently raised brow, her golden eyes following her form. Though the rest of her body did not move, the demoness's tail coiled away from the Atlantean coming toward her, as if not altogether of her own will, but instinctively. She kept her arms crossed as she spoke to the creature. ”It can do as it wishes,” she said with disinterest. Without even waiting for her, the Atlantean seemed to make the choice for the pair and placed the blindfold over her own eyes. The demon did not even understand why blindfolds were being used, but she was too apathetic to stop Lola from donning it. Dahlia's tail uncoiled upward slowly, moving in a waving motion similar to a snake crawling on its belly, as Lola proclaimed herself ready. ”It is not our time yet,” she said simply.
She watched as the first participants made their way onto the maze. She took note of the way they treated each other. They were not exactly on pleasant terms, or at least the darker-skinned one was. She didn't understand trust, but Dahlia did not think this was it. All the while she just wanted to kill something, or at least batter it with her sword. Did their leader just not respect their abilities in a battle? She was brought here with the promise that she would be able to fight creatures mighty and many, but here she was, simply to watch other people go through some maze that did not even have any monsters within it to fight. She wanted combat, and she wanted it now. Why did this pitiful world have to be so damned peaceful? Sure, there were those who committed violence on the weak in this world, as was their right, but it was nothing compared to her world. She bit the right side of her lower lip infrustration, her elongated canine hanging over it. ”I wish to fight,” she said to no one in particular, but loud enough that her partner would certainly hear. ”I was promised combat if I was to join these creatures in their “team,” so why are we not fighting? I want violence.” If one was especially attentive, one might have been able to hear a shred of longing in her tone, buried beneath all the contempt and anger. If she did not behead something soon, she was liable to leave and make her own fun.
Her attention was soon drawn back to the event at hand, as she witnessed the two particpants in the maze fall downward and unto a pit full of the electric pylons. She unwittingly cracked a smirk as she saw the two team members writhing in agony. Now this was a sound she understood all too well, and perhaps enjoyed a bit too much. She did nothing to help, even as the one named Savanna asked for it, as she was content to just watch, but she would not stop anyone from helping them if they did. There was a suddenly a small man who appeared out of thin air, the way she might do when using her powers. He quickly grated on the demoness's nerves as he continuously wasted their time with stupidity, even though he took responsibility for the pain the two team members currently found themselves in. It did not take her very long to grab her shield from her shoulder, drawing the sword from its scabbard within the shield, and readied it against the creature. But before she could act, the thing disappeared, reappeared, then shut off all the electricity. He then apparently made it so all the room's doors were shut completely, then making water appear as if out of nowhere to try and flood the place.
She looked at Lola for a moment. She was from a realm of water, was she not? She would be fine if the room were to flood. As for the others... well, they would have to find their own way out, would they not? Without warning, she disappeared into thin air before the Atlantean. Within an instant, she could see her room, but before she could solidify and set foot there, she was suddenly thrust back into the training room. She scowled. She tried to teleport once, twice, three times more without anything occuring. She let out a deep growl in frustration. Whoever did this would soon find their head(s) mounted on a pike(s), courtesy of Dahlia of the Circle of Violence and her sword. More than peace, Dahlia hated the feeling of being trapped with no escape.
I play death, you play life, triple sixes to rise... Can you see the visions I brought you, And the devilish games that I taught you? I am all that you see, I am all that you want me to be!

While her words were certainly rough, he had to agree with Savanna on this little matter. More and more members were piling into the team, several with tempers flaring in all the wrong ways, but the team's original members still were not exactly working as a team to begin with. Everyone was too self-involved, himself included, so it seemed. Instead of focusing on what the team needed to do, like the real Justice League did, they bickered and battled each other over the smallest things. In the end it felt like supervillains and criminals were not needed, since the team would surely defeat itself. ”What are we supposed to do as a team if we all cannot get past our differences?” he said aloud to no one in particular, a hint of melancholy in his tone. The Justice League was supposed to be the team that proved to the world that whatever differences people had, they could put that aside for the sake of protecting others. None of these things mattered because they needed to be there to protect the world from certain doom. They had people that could not be more different from each other, and yet they set all that aside for the greater good. Why couldn't this team be more like that?
As he explained the situation of the way his magic worked with electronics, it was clear that his words were not going to make much sense to the others. Savanna flat out did not seem to hear him. ”Trust me, Savanna, it's not the amulet. I've had these problems for as long as I have been able to use magic. Sorcery simply does not get along well with modern technology.” She made a jab at his amulet then, speculating on its ability to control it. Though he had no idea what she was talking about when she referred to telepathy. What did that have to do with anything that was currently being discussed? He brushed that aside, and his expression turned to a slight grimace. ”My control over the amulet is just fine,” he said. ”And trust me, I can weave spells far more terrifying than this amulet will ever be.” That was at least partially true. He knew full well that, should he be given the opportunity, he could cast spells that could truly bring horror upon any who witnessed it, though he would never intentionally cast magic so abominable. That being said, he truly did not yet know the limits of his amulet, as he'd only had it embedded in him for a couple of months at this point. Though he knew full well such a powerful magical artifact was nothing without a caster to channel its power.
Elke, at least, seemed to understand better when he explained things. She wondered aloud whether some day some genius would figure it out, and he politely shrugged. ”M used to know a few spells that would keep the magical energies from disrupting electronics for a time, but such magic is beyond me at the moment. We usually only used it when we ended up in a spaceship or something like that, for obvious reasons.” He may technically be a wizard, but he was still a very novice one at best, and there was still far too many things he did not know. The fact that now he had to learn all on his own now just made that even more difficult. Of course, he could always ask one of this world's more renowned sorcerers to help tutor him, but he did not want to be a bother. He smirked at the thought Elke brought up about the various gadgets his powers would affect. It had certainly happened before, and was one of the main reasons he did not own a motor vehicle of some sort. The last thing he needed was to have a car break down in the middle of the road with no explanation and screw up traffic even more than it usually was. ”Why do you think I never take the elevator? Or own a car?” he said with a chuckle. ”On more simple machinery it usually takes time for magic to disrupt it. I won't be bringing down our jet any time soon is what I am getting at, since we are rarely in it. But digital technology with a thousand different wires and transistors and outgoing signals... that takes very little time at all.”
Not that he was complaining. Truth be told, he preferred a simple existence over that of the contantly connected world of today. It was a shame that most people these days could never get a minute or two of true peace and quiet.
He and Elke offered different guesses at what they would be doing for this little get-together of a training session. He assumed that, being so-called superheroes, they would do something involving lots of fighting. Truthfully, Aurelio hated the idea of fighting. One of the reasons he used magic was to keep from ever truly having to harm anything. That's why he preferred more indirect spells to the usual combat magic, like conjuring bolas, or turning weapons into bindings, or other similar things like that; anything that would incapacitate the enemy without actually having to hurt them. Lightning was an option, given his amulet, but it is not one he liked to abuse. Aurelio held all life as precious to him. He'd come a long way from practicing with his bow in his Green Arrow pajamas and fantasizing about punching bad guys and putting them in prison. There was simply a better way, and one he could achieve through magic, though he was not naive enough to think all missions could possibly be bloodless. Elke suggested they were going to do laps and then have ice creams, and he snorted a quiet laugh. ”I'm fine with laps. I used to run track in high school, though admittedly I'm a bit out of practice.”
”But honestly, I think I'd rather just take the ice cream.”
Elke walked off to go confront Gabriel over his mouth, and Aurelio simply let her go without word. Eventually Deacon finally came in, introducing several new members to the team that he simply nodded toward in greeting. He could not help but be disappoined at the idea of simple blind trust exercises. That wasn't how one built trust, and Deacon had to know it. Perhaps he wanted to instill the idea of listening to others in a desperate situation, but that wasn't so much trust as it was necessity. Trust wasn't something one built in a single training mission, and it was folly to think that this would be the sole solution to their teamwork problem. If this was the only tool Deacon had in his arsenal, then Aurelio had to admit he was rather disappointed. It was still better than a combat operation though, so he would at least count his blessings. At the very least it was a simple exercise they could get through rather quickly. Electricity posed no threat to him, so all he really had to do was follow the pylons' charge. Though he could always just play by the rules... but where would be the fun in that?
He was soon joined by his partner in this little exercise, the romani who called herself Isis, as Savanna went to join Deacon for their run of the maze, in her typically confrontational way. He offered Isis a warm, welcoming smile as she approached him. She wasted no time in asking whether he wanted to play by the rules, or make things easy for the both of them, and he could not help but offer a playfully devious smirk. ”A wizard breaks rules simply by existing, and I find that that makes life more exciting by far,” he said to the Gypsy, the implications hopefully clear to her. He opened his free hand, the one that was not occupied by his staff, and let a few small sparks of electricity ride up between his fingers, creating the illusion of webbed hands until the sparks reached the fingertips, seemingly disappearing into thin air. ”It's not like those pylons can do much damage to me, anyway,” he said when she asked him to wear the blindfold. He took the strip of cloth and threw it over his shoulder. As he watched Deacon and Savanna go through their maze, he leaned over toward Isis, whispering toward her. ”I bet we can cut their time in half if we fly through the course.” Of course, he didn't know whether or not she could fly, but he could always help her in that department; she did not look like she weighed too much.
However, something went wrong in Savanna's and Deacon's run through the maze. The rope snapped, and the two fell over and were immediately being shocked by the pylons. Accidents were bound to happen, he knew this, but something felt wrong here. Some kind of mysterious energy he felt within the air that he could not identify. Some kind of foul magic was in the air. That was evident when all the available exits were suddenly closed and locked down with no way to escape. Suddenly all the power died down, and his attention was drawn toward a newcomer. He looked like a short, old, floating man, but he appeared as spry as a gymnast in his teens. And now he was taking responsibility for Deacon's and Savanna's fall. This thing, whatever it was, was not human, and Aurelio could feel that. He was extremely powerful in his magic, and Aurelio doubted he could stand up to him truly, but he could at least try. But just as Aurelio switched his staff to his left hand, and brandished his wand with the right, the little imp disappeared. In its absence, the room began swiftly flooding with water coming seemingly from nowhere.
”s**t,” he said, his feet rising in the air just about a foot above the water line. He doubted he could electrocute the others simply by being the same water source, but he did not want to take any chances with his amulet. He remained next to Isis, putting away his wand and offering her his hand. ”If you want to stay dry, I could help.”

Training Area This could be a whole lotta trouble...

NIGHTWING Bree complimented him on his observations of the two assassins, to which he gave no response. He never found taking commendations easy, and as such chose to avoid making any indication that he heard it at all. It wasn't out of arrogance or anything of the sort, it was merely that he wasn't the type to say 'thank you' or anything of that nature. 'Polite' wasn’t exactly a trait he practiced while wearing the mask – it kept him elusive and mysterious.
She assumed currently that he had already formed a dossier of her character. He curtly nodded, saying, "Yes. I have." Usually, he wouldn't go any further than that. If he were to start spouting off which traits he had guessed about her, he would also be giving away details about himself, and just how skilled he was. Then again, the people here were supposed to be his allies, and as such, they needed to know about his skill level in order to properly ask for his assistance when needed.
"Other than the obvious physical traits, you're 5'4, roughly 110 pounds, give or take five pounds, and probably in your early-to-mid twenties," he said. With the physical out of the way, he moved on to her disposition. "The fact that you approached me and the pair of twins in the hallway so easily indicates that you're either reckless, or confident enough in your healing ability that you'll be fine either way. Perhaps it's a mixture of both. Also from this I can gather that you're a bit of a scientific, tactile learner – you like to interact with things in order to observe it." In some ways, it rivaled his ways of learning. He liked to stay as far away as possible most of the time when it came to people… people who were alive, anyways. It was dead or inanimate, sure, he could get close in order to observe, but he did his best work from the shadows.
== Training Room ==
He watched the exchange between Aiden and Deacon, still trying to decipher just what was wrong between the two. Stern looks were given, and Nightwing caught the fact that Aiden's eyes changed as he broke off from Deacon. The cold man had noticed the caped crusader and nodded in his direction. Nightwing's head moved only slightly, just to indicate that he had registered the gesture. His mind searched for a reason for the man's insubordination, and it wasn't long before his gaze fell on Karmen, who was moving over to the partner that she had been assigned to, Mason. Mason was one of the few people on base whose powers Nightwing was actually aware of. Hopefully that would change soon.
The two started talking, and from here Nightwing could hear what they were saying. Mason had said that it was good to see her back and asked where she was – apparently she'd taken a leave of absence. In turn, she expressed her agreement with that statement, but Nightwing caught the way that she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, as well as the fake smile she put on – both were signs that she was lying. When answering the question of her whereabouts, she had shrugged before saying anything, which could have been yet another sign that she wasn't telling the truth, but it was hard to tell.
Perhaps Aiden's gripe with Deacon had to do with Karmen, who seemed distressed and had apparently disappeared for a little while. Maybe something had happened on the last mission that made her uncomfortable, and Aiden was confronting Deacon about it since he was the leader, and a leader should look after their subordinates.
His theories had to be put to rest for the time being, as the exercise was starting. Deacon had paired himself up with Savanna, whom he had remembered being in the hotel the first night he'd been with the League. By watching their exercise, he could gather that Savanna appeared to be a no-nonsense type, and perhaps also a little miffed in Deacon's presence. Was there anyone here that wasn't aggravated with the team leader in some way?
The exercise had been cut short by the mysterious failure of the rope they were walking across. Normal instinct might have been to go help them after their bodies were pumped full of dangerous volts, but Nightwing knew that the effects of electrocution on that scale didn't last too long. It was like a taser – there was nothing really external or internal to worry about. They just had to catch their breath and get over the pain.
Just when Nightwing was about to mentally chide Deacon (perhaps unfairly) for designing a faulty course, some sort of… dwarfish imp materialized. Already Nightwing's mind was working quickly, trying to gather was much as he could about this new threat. It was a threat, as he knew Deacon wouldn't put something like this into the exercise, especially if it meant the electrocution of him and a teammate. The small man asked 'Did I do that?' which was very reminiscent of Steve Urkel in most cold openings of Family Matters before disappearing through the ceiling and then reappearing near his feet. He then went on about 'cleaning up their act'. Grimacing, Nightwing stomped down towards the man, only to have his boot clang against the metal floor – he had disappeared once again.
Right after, the doors shut and the electricity cut off. Then, something peculiar happened – soapy water started to come up from the floor. Everything became extremely slippery, and Nightwing elected to stand firm and still precisely where he was. His mind wanted to think about the creature that had just made its entrance, but this was a much more pressing matter. Switching gears, he quickly thought about the other people in the room and what their abilities were. The only ones he knew of were Deacon, Gabriella, Karmen, and Mason, since he had seen them in action. The question of what Aiden could do was soon answered – he formed a wall of ice around his feet in order to keep dry, but that probably wouldn't last too long. Looking around the room, he tried to discern if there was anyone whose appearance was a giveaway to what ability they might have.
He didn't get far before he could hear Aiden asking Mason that if the door were frozen, would Mason be able to knock it down. It was a good plan, as long as Mason possessed the strength in his metal form to fully knock the door away. If not, Nightwing had a good amount of explosive Batarangs that could sufficiently blow the door if it was frozen. They might be able to blow it already, but he wasn't about to take the risk of them not being effective enough and wasting Batarangs that could be useful. For now, he decided to wait and see if Mason could indeed free them from the watery prison.
Nightwing went back to his scan of the room to see if anyone else could be of assistance to them. He'd almost missed it, but there was a taller girl (Lola) with what seemed to be gills on her neck, almost shrouded from sight by her hair. If memory of the various supernatural races he'd studied served him well, that could very well be an Atlantean. They were the only people that would match the woman's description.
"You – Atlantean," he said, hoping to get the girl's attention. It was the first time he'd spoken since he entered the room. "Could you breathe in this?" he was referring to the soapy water that was filling up around them. Knocking the door away and getting out of the room could be a good strategy, but Nightwing had no idea just what they were up against. For all they knew, water could be filling up in the entire tower, and he needed to know just who could swim around in this the longest. Nightwing's suit had a built-in respirator to protect him from toxins, but it would only give him a few minutes of oxygen if he was fully submerged in water.
For now, he stayed completely and utterly still, knowing that any sort of movement in the soapy water could throw him off balance.

__C O M P A N Y ___AURELIO and THE TEAM __L O C A T I O N ___ TRAINING ROOM __T H O U G H T S ___ Who stole the lucky charms this time?!
❝
Maybe she was over thinking this a little too much. Besides, she could handle herself if these twins ever did try something. The question of how they became involved with the League would of course have to wait. A heavy sigh escaped her lips as Mason attempted to reassure her with a wink. Which did nothing to rest her nerves by the way. He gets brownie points for trying though! The seductress had half a mind to burst Aman's bubble and tell him her dreams were anything but sweet. Instead she just flashed him a charming smile. No point in making him look silly when all he was doing was some innocent flirting. If you considered that an act of innocence of course. Aman was such a ham. Not nearly as bad Gabriel Clyne but he still reeked of a Christmas dinner. She liked some confidence in her men. It always presented more of a challenge. But she preferred to be the one with sexually driven intent, not the other way around. Isis listened in on the various chatter amongst the team. Lola was giving off that usual dose of zanny energy while Gabriel and Elke had the pleasure of going at it once more. This group definitely put the function in dysfunctional, that's for sure.
The gypsy turned her attention to the groups forming. If the team didn't already look mix-matched, they sure did now. Of course her partner couldn't have been a better match for the situation at hand. A little charm never hurt either. "Touche." Isis replied to Aurelio with a tickled laugh. Mystics always did grab her interest. This was in part due to the nature of her own mystical lineage as a gypsy. Their connection to magic was very prevalent in history and myth, but how it applied to her own powers behooved her. Aurelio's magic seemed to be geared towards lightning, or better yet, he specialized in the use of that particular spell. Isis based this assumption off his sudden display of power. "Aren't you just full of talents!? I'm sure there are some other tricks you could show me, hm?" She purred seductively at the magician.
Isis fiddled with the silk cloth wrapped around her arm as Deacon and Savanna began the first run through the maze. Watching the pair brought a mischievous smirk to her face. Savanna was rather relentless with her words to their leader, and Isis liked it. Women with sass seemed to be a running gag on this team. God forbid any of them entered their period at the same time. Talk about apocalyptic cat fight. Aurelio made a rather genius comment about how the two of them could approach the maze. Isis crossed her arms as she contemplated what he suggested. He was aware she couldn't fly right? Oh, that's right, he didn't. That was what this team bonding thing was all about: getting to know each other. Isis couldn't lie and say she wasn't somewhat tickled by the revelation. Deacon's methods were strange to her, but were actually doing a good job of keeping her entertained. For once she didn't mind eating her words. "Ooh, you're such a naughty boy." Isis teased. "Then again, I'm sure you have something far more interesting in your bag of tricks." She was referring to the magic he wielded. Surely someone as skilled as him possessed a teleportation spell of sorts. Cut the time in half?! Psh, they could set a new record by avoiding the entire course all together.
"Deacon, you can stop trying to make this look difficult." Isis rolled her eyes at the male as he and Savanna began displaying some trouble with the course. The rope they had been walking along had seemingly snapped for no reason, causing them to fall into the shocking pylons. This is why you didn't try to walk the tight rope unless you were a professional! Isis wasn't going to rub that in their face though since something seemed to be afoot. "Something told me this was going too perfectly." Somehow she knew this wasn't the work of faulty equipment or scare tactics from Deacon. When a old, yet nimble leprechaun appeared out of thin air, Isis knew that they were in trouble. Was this joke? Like, everyone knew that opening a box of lucky charms only invited craziness like this to occur.
"What the hell is that?"
A sudden presence of ominous energy filled the room as the system for the training room began to lock them inside. Isis was not the biggest fan of feeling trapped and was quite thankful that this room was large enough to spare her of any claustrophobic bouts. The rather goofy leprechaun creature was poofing all over the place, and making a raucous in the training room. His cackle sent chills up her spine as the electricity seemed to be going out in the room. Great. As if this team really needed to be thrown into a real combat situation now. When your back is against the wall it can definitely bring out the best in you. Let's hope that was the case for this team. As the mystic being made himself invisible to them, the room began filling with a soapy liquid. Isis was just going to assume this was soap and water. Just her luck as usual. "Dammit~ Leather is not machine washable, darling." Isis hissed, hoping that damned short stack would hear her. The others were already springing into action against the sudden flood. She was interested in Aiden's cryokinetic abilities in particular. She only wished she had an ability to get her afloat on this water. Alas, silk and cloth didn't mix well with water.
Thankfully, she didn't need to bring her own flotation device thanks to Aurelio. She knew there was a reason the two of them were paired together. "Yes, that would be sublime." Isis latched onto his outstretched hand and pulled herself up to him. She held her body close to his as they floated atop of the water. The siren couldn't help but see some good in this predicament. "Usually a guy has to buy me dinner first before holding me this close." Isis coyed to the magician. She was willing to make an exception if it meant avoiding the water below them. The silk cloth wrapped around her arm unraveled itself and doubled in width. The enlarged cloth began spiraling around Isis and Aurelio defensively. Isis dared that thing to show his face again. She was itching to introduce him to a fistful of silk. "Any clue what we are dealing with, Aurelio?"

________________________________________________________________________________________________Iron Mimic → Training Room His nose scrunched at their new medic’s response to his desire to be more vulnerable to injury - that way he would get to see more of her, right? He actually weighed the options for a moment. “I’m a little hurt, I’m not such bad company. Trying to scare me off before you even know me?” She was clearly teasing, something he could appreciate. But that didn’t mean he didn’t have some comment to send right back. It was always good to have a sense of humor, and not to take everything he said so seriously. The iron man had never been the serious type, in fact he often had trouble taking things seriously when needed. “I could always be more reckless.” he grinned in response. “I’ve had some practice at that already, if you can believe it.”
It looked like there would be another person on the team that he could say he liked. He liked people he could rile up - like Elke - and those who seemed to have some sort of secret that he could try to figure out, he liked puzzles. He also liked people that would give him a hard time, and tease back. Basically, he didn’t like boring people. There were always exceptions though. The new girl seemed like someone worth spending time with, maybe he could trade his underaged sidekick in for the team’s new medic? It certainly would be trading up.
Soon enough, they were given instructions for the exercise. It was pretty standard stuff - guide your blindfolded partner through a maze of electricity. It was supposed to make them trust each other. Mason himself was less than enthused about the entire thing until he had been assigned his partner. Karmen was one of the people he actually liked around here, and after her absence he was glad to see her. And he let her know so as soon as he was within a comfortable speaking radius.
He also asked where she had been and her response couldn’t exactly be called a ‘positive’ one. “Well it’s good he’s better.” the iron man responded with a smile. However that sigh didn’t make her seem so relieved. But maybe he was reading it wrong. Either way, this wasn’t the sort of place to dig into people’s feelings and personal lives - no matter how curious. ”Y’know, I’d ask you what happened, but you seem like the kind of person tha I only get a certain number of questions with and I’d rather save them for something better…” And honestly, his first instinct was always to try puting a smile on the face of someone seeming a little less than happy. Somehow he doubted getting her to talk about her brother’s hospitalization would get her smiling.
A devilish grin crept into his face, despite his attempt to keep it straight, as he watched Karmen turn a distinctive shade of red. Her embarrassment was adorable. Which would only encourage Mason to embarrass her more in the future.
He watched the blindfold swing in front of his face for a moment before he could really accept his role in the exercise. Blindly being led through an obstacle course of electrified pylons was… not quite appealing to him. He took the blindfold from her. He smiled when she mentioned that it was her that had his back this time. “Well alright. Don’t let me down, partner. I trust you.” Did he? He normally needed to know people pretty well before trust formed, and really he didn’t know her that well. “But uh…” Blue eyes stared at the blindfold in his hand thoughtfully, but soon found their way to the pyrokinetic’s face.. “Would it defeat the purpose if I turned to iron for this? And would you be offended?” Eyes narrowed questioningly on her.
She made a joke about not trying to cop a feel while he was defenseless. “No it’s fine, I can’t think of any reason you shouldn’t.” Please touch me.
Deacon and Savanna were the first to take to the course, as the others observed. As he watched, something bumped him. The iron man looked around but found nothing. The only person near enough to have bumped him was Karmen, and she was on the wrong side to have done so. Brows furrowed as he stared at the vacant area beside him.
His attention was drawn back to the duo on the course when he heard Savanna shouting, only to see the two writhing on the ground - zapped! He knew he probably should have done something to help, but he couldn’t get over it. He’d assumed they would just get a little zap, but obviously Deacon was really trying to torture them. Those things were packing a lot of punch. For a trust exercise? It hadn’t made sense to him when he’s thought it would just be a little shock…
And then some little guy appeared. It seemed he was intent on causing trouble and before he knew it, the room was filling with bubbles and water. He’d made to move but as he took a step his foot slipped and he nearly ate it. “Oh jeez…” Instinctively he’d grabbed Karmen by the arm to steady himself, careful to avoid knocking her over in the process.
Aiden called out to him to question his ability to kick in a door. “Yeah,” Naturally, yes had to be his answer. No matter how big and sturdy the door. If it was Aiden asking then yes, he could kick it in. He glanced over at it as he answered though. And it did look a bit intimidating, not like it would go down easily. “It’s worth a shot.” Backing out of his certainty a bit, he’d accidentally agreed to work with Aiden? It wasn’t ideal, but he supposed they did need to get out before they drown.
The first hurdle was just getting to the door, but since his initial slip he’d been rather successful in finding his footing. As long as he took his time. ”You coming?” he asked Karmen. It seemed rude to leave her behind. Besides, if he couldn’t kick the door down, maybe she could melt a hole in it? He offered a hand to her, to lead her safely to the target. He was feeling relatively steady, and confident in his ability to keep her upright as well as himself. Or maybe they would both get soaked before the water even reached their knees...
