"Maybe, but I couldn't just wake you up from a peaceful sleep like that. You were just so cute asleep I decided to leave you be. It might have made you mad, but I couldn't be happier...for what tempts me is not the stars in the sky, nor the golden sea...but merely the trickle of your tears." Exodus crossed his arms behind his head, a bright smile gracing his lips as he looked back up to the sky. He recited a line from a poem, but it embarrassed him saying it out loud. "I would've liked to sleep as well under such a beautiful sky, but who knows what you would've done then. You might've dropped a bucket of water on my head."
Exodus' smile became a bit more subtle as he thought about other things. "We practically missed an entire day of training to be up here. Does that...bother you? You were out with me all day and we've hardly done anything productive." Even Exodus, who would've left to deal with his own outstanding issues at that point, remained by her side so she would feel a little bit less alone. Perhaps it was a silly notion, but far be it from him to abandon her up here.

Anastasia looked to him raising a brow until the moment he called her cute. Turning a darker shade of red she furrowed her brow in an attempt to mask her embarrassment and shoved his shoulder. Y-you creep! Why are you watching me sleep anyway? she said standing up and dusted her bottom. She pouted turning away from him and listened to him as he quoted a poem. She blinked and looked down to him where he sat. You read The Golden Treasury by Gutenberg? she asked quite surprised.
It was a very intricate book of poems to read, and by one of her many favorite poets. She felt a bit ashamed of herself for believing it wasn't possible he could have read it. She felt ashamed to have had a beggar image of him when he was probably not so. I'm sorry. she said but wouldn't explain why she was sorry. Instead she helped him up and shook her head smiling to him. It's nice to take a break once in a while. And we'll be starting training soon, so we should enjoy this as often as we can. We have our work cut out for us pretty soon. she said.
She looked over the ledge and looked to him blushing. You'll have to help me down. she said embarrassed to ask but wasn't as rude as she would have been, usually. She was pretty content with the way things turned out today.ＣＵＲＲＥＮＴ ＬＯＣＡＴＩＯＮ: Outside

"I may not look like it, but in my free-time my father allowed me to read in order to strengthen my mental capacity. I grew a love for poems and stories of heroism, but it was mostly a mind training exercise as far as he was concerned." Exodus stood up and threw his jacket back on looking over at Ana as she stated she couldn't make it down alone. He swept her, literally, off her feet and looked down at the ground. "It's not as far as you think."
Exodus made sure to remind her of that fact as he jumped down, landing on a single knee to keep himself from hitting the ground too hard. He let Ana back off on the ground and dusted off the knee of his pants. He disliked the bridal carry because of the displaced weight, but it worked well enough to bring the both of them back to ground. "Want me to carry you the rest of the way? You just woke up, after all." Exodus joked, knowing full well that carrying her like that would embarrass her.

She looked to him smiling a bit since it was nice to hear he enjoyed poetry. She thought for a moment whether to have him get the rope from Luna's pack but gasped when she was suddenly swept off her feet. She turned bright red looking to Vincent who was close to her. W-wait! she gasped clinging to him as he jumped down. She was sure he'd lose balance and make them fall. However he managed to land on his knee before letting her down.
She got on her feet and went to thank him when he offered carrying her all the way back. A deep blush came to her face and she furrowed her brow. B-be quiet! I don't need you acting so high and mighty just because you helped me down a ledge! she screeched in embarrassment and kicked his shin. She pouted and mounted her horse heading back to the barracks. Hurry up! she barked. We'll miss dinner otherwise! she said trying to settle the loud thumping in her chest.
She could still feel his hands on her as if they've imprinted on her skin and she shook her head once to refocus her thoughts away from Vincent.

Exodus hummed, acting as innocent as he'd like. He called to Ezra, following Anastasia before she got too far away. "Relax, relax. It was just a joke." Exodus chuckled, seeing that Ana may have been put off by his comment about carrying her. He couldn't just do that whenever he pleased, of course, considering that was something only couples did. After leaving Ezra for the day, Exodus flashed the steed a bright smile. "You did good...but we've still got a long ways to go."
Exodus put his hands in his pockets, his huge grin shrinking in to a softer smile. He'd achieved one feat, and soon he would do so much more. He was thankful to Ana for that...he wouldn't have a chance as Scouting Legion if he didn't know how to control Ezra. "You ready?" Exodus stood by the entrance, waiting for Anastasia. He still didn't understand it much, but...he had a light feeling in his chest. It was confounding, and he only felt like this whenever he looked at Ana. It was...foreign to him, but it wasn't unpleasant.

Anastasia looked to Vincent watching as he spoke to Ezra. She knew in no time at all, the horse would come to trust him and they would be able to ride together by no end. She smiled fondly before stroking Luna's nose, kissing it once before leaving their dinner out and looked to Vincent. As he called to her she felt her chest knot and tighten. It was strange. She never felt like this before, not with anyone. Not even Azreth. She's read far too many romance novels to not know what the feeling indicated, although she couldn't believe it.
Blushing she hurried to him and walked beside him back to the barracks. The feeling wasn't unpleasant and she found herself conflicted. She cared for Vincent, that much was certain. And she hated the idea of losing him, she suddenly wanted to try to convince him to leave, but she knew in her heart that his mind was set. He wasn't like her. He had a purpose, he had a reason to be here, and he swore to himself that he would end the titans.
Once inside she looked to Vincent blushing slightly, D-did you want to have dinner together again? she asked not wanting him to leave just yet. Having spent an entire afternoon with him certainly wasn't enough for her. She was restless, due to her nap, however she could see that he himself was very tired. Exodus practically froze at her suggestion, not because he planned to refuse, or even because he accepted...he froze because he practically felt his heart jump out of his chest at her question. Exodus put one hand on his head, an embarrassed expression crossing his blank face again. "H-huh...? With...me? W-well...if you don't mind, I won't object." Exodus was still inept at all of this...he'd known her for some time now, but speaking his true feelings didn't come easily at all.
She seemed to be worried for his well-being, but when she said he should get some rest he shook his head as his face flushed crimson. "N-no! I'm fine, I swear. I always look like this." Yeah, that was something...Exodus always looked like he'd fall asleep whenever somebody looked at his face, but he was almost never legitimately tired. "I just...erm...excuse me for a moment."
Exodus ended up running back outside, placing a hand over his chest. He didn't know how to classify the way he was feeling...he felt light-headed and couldn't think straight. He tried to pride himself on his professionalism, but since he began enjoying each day with Ana, he was starting to rethink the things that made him fundamentally Vincent. The one thing he wanted was to never let another person die, and he knew well enough to feeling like this...feeling this way with Anastasia meant he'd be cut deeply again the moment he lost her. He knew it would happen, and he knew there was nothing he could do about it either.
"This is the most foolish I've ever looked...ugh...I should've known this a long time ago." Exodus took his hand away from his chest and looked back up at the sky. He knew what he was feeling...it was fear. Pure and simple, he was afraid. There was a one-hundred percent chance he'd never see Ana again, and even less chance of them seeing the new world together. What a childish thing to say to her...she knew it too. Yet...she reassured him of all things. He came back inside after a while, rubbing the back of his head. "Sorry. I didn't feel well." That was one way to say it.
"I, erm...have a question. Are you...okay like that? Around me, I mean. I'm...just a nobody." Exodus' breathe suddenly caught in his throat...why did he ask that? He knew that he wanted to think of her as a friend, but those words disagreed with him. "I'll...just shut up now."

The young lady looked up to Vincent quite perplexed by the sudden change in attitude. As he froze, she herself felt her body tense and she quickly pulled her hand back to her body. Her own heart skipping a beat and hammering in her chest. O-of course I meant you. T-take a look around, is there anyone else? she asked furrowing her brow in an attempt to hide her embarrassment. They must have looked silly to anyone passing by. As he accepted however she felt a tinge of relief and broke into a wide grin, again her innocent side showing, much more clearly than before. As he mentioned that he wasn't at all tired she raised a brow not entirely convinced.
Well you always look like this...but I feel bad that I took a nap earlier. You really should rest properly. she said before he suddenly excused himself. She tensed and looked down to her hands, which were fumbling over one another. Had she said something wrong? Did she scare him away this time? She knew her words were like knives at times. Cold and they stung badly. She tried very hard not to be so cut throat with Vincent. She liked him, and she wanted to keep him by her side. She didn't want to push him away, and she felt ashamed that despite her efforts they were for naught whenever she was embarrassed.
She placed a hand on her chest, a terrible aching caused her to physically wince. She couldn't believe it. Just the very thought of him being angry with her caused her heart to tighten. She remembered how he angrily glared at her a while back, before she offered to teach him horseback riding. It almost seemed like such a long time ago. The memory was clear, and she never wanted to see them again, not ever directed to her. She didn't want him to dislike her.
Y-you've just got to control that tongue of yours. Unless you're sure you'll say it nicely, don't say anything at all! she resolved. She had to put in more effort, she wanted Vincent with her always. She was embarrassed to think how much Vincent has been on her mind. It seemed lately it was all she thought about.
And yet, the reality was, she was having a dangerous love. She just had to have feelings for someone she knew might die. She herself...in all likelihood will die. She knew she would never see him in a changed world. It was a childish fantasy, but it was a happy one.
Anastasia squeezed her shirt over her heart and blushed a deep red. She loved him. There was no turning back, and she would continue to care for him until one of them stopped breathing. She wouldn't regret these feelings, and she would never regret choosing Vincent.ＣＵＲＲＥＮＴ ＬＯＣＡＴＩＯＮ: Barracks

"Ana..." Exodus walked up behind Anastasia, uttering her name despite being able to hear every thump of his heart. "Sorry about before...I was...nervous." Exodus stood straight up, and despite everything about him screaming 'wrong' he wanted to make sure he was heard clearly. "I just get so very...confused when it comes to feelings. I can't always say what I mean, and you know that I've been purposely pushing people away since I came here." Exodus placed his hand on the back of his head, looking off to the side.
"I tried to do the same thing with you, but somehow...you ended up welcoming me with open arms. It confuses me, and I can't think despite how much I trust myself to do so under pressure. I can't control this beating of my heart...and I can only hear it clearly...when I stand next to you." Even now, Exodus could feel his heart working twice the speed...only being near her satisfied him, and just the thought of letting her go cut him deeply.
"I...don't want you to leave me. I felt so very alone before, and losing you would make me realize I'm just alone again. I...I lo--" Exodus found the words difficult. She jumped in place, having not heard Vincent as he returned. She looked up to the taller male, her cheeks a warm rosy color. Her hands, balled up into small fists, were held up and resting against her chest. She noticed something was wrong with Vincent, he was not behaving like he usually was, calm and collected. His cheeks too were hinting a tinge of color. She began feeling her heart thump harder and harder into her chest, so loud she could hear it.
She opened her mouth to say something however she waited wanting to listen to what he had to say. The more he said, the more nervous she began to get. Was he really going to...? He honestly felt like this towards her...? Her eye widened, shining towards him as he boldly confessed his feelings to her. It had taken a moment for it to register in her mind. She repeated it over and over in her head.
I love you...I love you... he had said.
... In a flash her cheeks burned like it was on fire. Her whole complexion turned a dark shade of red and she tensed her body again. She looked to him opening her mouth to speak but quickly covered it. She most certainly did not want to make things bad because of her foul mouth. She took a second, going it over in her mind, to make sure she wouldn't fail. A-All you have to say is 'I love you too.' That is it! she thought before looking up to him.
I...I-I... Swallowing she quickly placed her hands on her hips a smug grin on her face. Isn't that right? Well I don't blame you! It's only natural a peon such as yourself would fall for someone as gracious as I. As if I would fall so low! she said. She then held her hand out to him, bright red and pouting to hide her embarrassment. I'll do you a service, since I like you so much, I'll remain by your side...f-forever. she said.
As quickly as it came she wanted to bite her tongue. She nearly cried, she didn't want to push Vincent away. She loved him too. Why couldn't she have said so. Clearly you're far more brave than I... she mumbled turning bright red and took his hands. It's difficult for me, a-and I say horrible things. I'm weak, and small, and I'm only good at insulting you. she said looking down to her feet. Exodus' head tilted slightly to the side at her choice of worsed. He knew well enough what Anastasia meant to say as she held her hand out to take his. Exodus reached to take her hands as well, seeing that he had his path already traced for him. "Forever...so you mean..." Exodus silently noted her true feelings as she laid out all of the reasons why Exodus wouldn't have chosen her. Exodus, determined to prove his feelings were genuine, spoke plainly.
"You're also sweet and kind...even when you say something you don't mean, I can see how it feels to have to turn people away out of habit alone. I accept you, whatever faults you may have...just as you do with me." Exodus was sure she felt the same way...and perhaps she was afraid also. Afraid of what would come when it came time to lay down their lives.
If Exodus could get her to look at him again, he'd kiss her forehead. A soft gesture...one filled with the same feelings that Exodus just couldn't shake. "Your hand was the first I held when I came here...it wasn't rough, or covered in blood...it was soft and warm. It may sound very story-book, but even if I were to forget everything, I would remember holding your hand in mine. The warmth and...and love from it are something I'll keep with me. I won't ever feel the same way just holding somebody else's hand."
Exodus could still feel his heart racing simply from saying that he loved her, yet somehow, he was able to explain how he felt when he was with her. He hoped that she would at least take his words as truth...he didn't think he'd be able to bear the pain of rejection after pouring out all his thoughts and feelings for her to see.

She looked to him, blushing red and held his hands in hers. Your hands are warm too... she said tracing the patterns on his palm. Rough, and jagged she smiled to the larger hands. These hands have known hardship that I have not, they've suffered and have been in pain, but they are still so warm. she said placing one of his hands on her cheek and smiled up to him. Me too. she said reaching up placing her own palm on his cheek. No matter what happens I will never forget. The kindness you have shown me. You are my best friend. she said a single tear falling from her eye.
I've been alone for so long, but in the time I've spent with you, I've forgotten the feeling of loneliness. I'm almost frightened to feel that way again. she said. I couldn't possibly feel this way for anyone else but you Vincent. she said. She heard someone coming by and quickly moved her hand away her cheeks burning bright red. She quickly took his hand bringing him to her room where she closed the door.
Alone and in the dark she lit a candle and looked back to him embarrassed. I-I'm sorry... she said hoping he wasn't offended. It's not because I didn't want to be seen with you...I was just...e-embarrassed. she admitted.ＣＵＲＲＥＮＴ ＬＯＣＡＴＩＯＮ: Barracks

Exodus was correct in his assumption...she felt it as well. Something that you could never forget...a common bond with another human. It made a dark world seem all the lighter, even if it was only an ephemeral wish. Before he could say any more he found himself being dragged away. As Ana lit a candle, Exodus recalled the familiar setting...this was her room. He listened to her as she worried on what he would've thought about being sprited away so suddenly at just somebody's footsteps.
"It's alright, I understand you reason." They were both still very new to this, and Exodus would rather not directly embarrass her after only a few moments of being together. In the soft glow of the candle, Exodus noted that the only thing he could see clearly was Anastasia. He noticed her fumble with her words, but he was doing the same only moments ago when he tried to sort out his feelings for her.
"You're not more embarrassed to have me in your room this late at night? I could just as easily...leave until tomorrow." Exodus may have said that, but he was displeased at the thought of leaving her just now after having such a talk. He wanted to stay with her, but he was more than certain she wouldn't want him there all night when he very well had his own place to be.

She looked back to Vincent, her love, finding she could only see him in the darkness. Illuminated by the orange glow of a single candle light. She blushed when he mentioned leaving and glanced off to the side. I-If at all possible...do you think...maybe...you could spend the night here...w-with me? she asked boldly. She was pathetic. She wondered if he thought her clingy now. They just confessed to one another, there wasn't a real need to stick together.
She'd like the say so under normal circumstances. She was just...honestly afraid. She was so terrified of losing him. Someone so dear and precious to her. What if tomorrow, he wasn't there to greet her with his rare smile? What if he wasn't there?
Her face burning hotly she held her hands up quickly shaking her head. D-don't worry about what I said! she said quickly. She looked down, smiling nervously. This is odd...I've never been so nervous before... she mumbled.
I just...wanted us to spend as much time together as possible, because tomorrow...what will happen? she asked unknowingly voicing both their fears. I want to be able to look back and treasure every second I have with you.
