 Demitri looked a bit dumbfounded. "W-well....I like the scent of your shampoo....but really I just thought it was a good scent to start with. I'm thinking of making it honey scented next time. Everyone's got to start somewhere right?" he asked, beaming with pride when he saw that his work was acceptable. "What's up next? Do we get to work with a spell now?" he asked curiously.

 JJ glared at the boy, "go and clean up your station, after lunch we will work on spells." if he was going to be this clingy he would happily slap the boy every time he opened his mouth. "we've an hour to go, there is the instructions for making a simple compound that will be the basis of most potions. get working on that."

Demitri felt smaller than normal, JJ's glares had that sort of habit, but he was still determined. "I'm not that hungry so I'll just clean up and keep working." he said softly, turning the opposite direction and clearing off his workspace, making sure to keep the ingredients the recipe said he needed while putting the rest away as neatly as he could. Perhaps there really was no pleasing the man.

JJ finished the last of his work, it had to sit and gestate now. he washed down his station and walked over to watch the boy's progress. he'd gotten far and the solution was where it should be. it was at a point where it had to sit for a time and could be left for days if need be. "clean up, time for lunch and spells." he waited at the door for the boy to finish, "I need to bathe before I eat, go and change into one of the more form fitting sets of clothing. they are harder to catch on fire," he instructed as he lead the way up to their hallway. "i'll order lunch, we will eat in my room. join me once you have changed." he went into his room to get a change of clothing and send down the order before going to the bathroom to wash up.

He had a feeling JJ would urge him to take a break, why did the man not trust his word when he said that he could continue working for a few more hours. "Yes sir." he said softly, putting the recipe list down in a rather disappointed matter and slipping the shampoo and soap into his pocket. His interest was soon caught once again when he was told to put on tighter clothing. Were they really going to use fire with their next recipe? "Okay, I'll meet you there." he said with a small smile, trying to contain his excitement which burst out of him once he reached his bedroom. It wasn't long after his excitement was finished that he realized his shampoo and soap were still in his pocket. I should probably put these in the bathroom. Demitri quickly went into the bathroom and placed them in a drawer of the sink, completely forgetting JJ was in there until he turned around. He saw the man's bare chest riddled in scars once again and his cheeks turned red. "I-I'm sorry J---Sir----MASTER!!" He shouted in embarrassment before running back into his bedroom. His heart pounded, he knew he was going to get punished for it. Demitri decided to put on a pair of black pants which were a bit tighter for his comfort, but this is what his master ordered of him; he completed his outfit with the blue gloves he found earlier that morning and a red button-down shirt that clung to his chest nicely without strangling him. Once he was dressed Dimitri waited outside JJ's bedroom door, his back against the wall next to the door, he figured if he was going to be punished for walking in on his master like that then he may as well make it easier on himself.

JJ had been thinking about the boy and his father while he was washing. what kind of parent could he be if he killed a dozen human beings for his experiments, several of those being children? but the boy seemed to have been attached to his father, it was confusing. he tried to never think of his own father, the man had gotten him where he was today. without his strict upbringing, JJ might not have been picked as an apprentice for the former King's Sorcerer, but wouldn't that be a good thing? Even now, thinking about that man sent a shiver down his spine. He wasn't sure why he, a full grown man, not to mention the strongest sorcerer in the entire kingdom, would still feel fear for a man years dead. perhaps it was a survival instinct? his mind in such a dark place, he was unaware of his surroundings as he washed. a sudden draft of cold air caught him by surprise and he instinctively had a ball of pure energy ready to slam into whoever it was that was stupid enough to come at him. Even naked and vulnerable, he was dangerous. he recognized the boy just in time and stayed his hand, but his anger flared. "don't you know how to knock?" he growled, but the boy was running away before he could get his answer. JJ shook his head and finished washing quickly. he dressed and walked out to find the boy by his door. "This is how you knock," he curled his hand into a fist and wrapped the knuckles against the boy''s head four times, hard enough to send his head back into the wall. "remember it." he opened the door to his room and walked in, the food already waiting.

Demitri had tried to ignore JJ when he approached, hoping the older man would just open the door and bark at him to come inside but he wasn't that lucky. "Yes sir..." he said softly, standing up and flinching a bit at rough gesture on his head. He didn't say anything to the last comment, knowing if he opened his mouth that he would make things worse somehow. Demitri hadn't even sat down yet before he decided to open his mouth about another topic. "How did....you get all of those scars?" he asked softly, assuming it was the same way Demitri had his own scars but everyone's story is different.

JJ glanced over for a second before ladling himself some stew and taking a couple rolls. "My father believed in strict discipline. had i messed up the shampoo as you did yesterday i would have been whipped. leaving like you did?" he met the boy's eyes, "he would have used his magic to turn my blood cold and paralyze me before leaving me in the basement for a week as punishment on top of a whipping. just enough to almost kill me without actually doing so." he took a bite and felt his shoulders relax a bit. the one good thing about coming to the castle had been the food. he didn't have to prepare it for himself or his father and it was always delicious. "my Master had similar views, though his punishments where strongly based in magic rather than physical like my father."

Now he wished he hadn't asked, to make a person remember such horrible dreams. "I'm sorry..." he said softly, for once Demitri was actually grateful that JJ was lenient compared to his previous Master and father. It was now that Demitri decided he would stay quiet, since this attempt at conversation only brought painful memories, and began to dish himself some of the stew which smelled and tasted strongly of tomato. Just how he liked it. "Is there something you wanted to talk with me about?" he asked the other, finding it a little strange that his Master asked him to dine with him in his bedroom.

JJ shrugged, "it made me the man i am today. i needn't ask where you got yours, it is obvious from the farmer's treatment of you." he continued eating, dishing some of the salad for himself as well. "nothing, really. it is easier for the servants to serve two people together than separately. make sure to eat your fill, but not too much. we will be working on spell work next and you need the energy. for now it will be mostly channeling and controlling the flow, but your being untrained in any way shape or form, you will probably leak too much and waste all of your energy. the food will help restore it quicker."

Demitri nodded in affirmation and continued to eat in a bit of a trans-like daze. "I haven't had anymore visions since the other day...back at the....at my mothers house." he said softly, refusing to remember it as his father's house. How someone he loved so much could do such revolting things to other people, children no less. "Is necromancy a big problem in our kingdom? I mean....are....or were....there a lot of them?" he asked softly, almost forcing himself to eat at this point.

JJ sat back and studied Demitri for a long moment before answering. "when i was young, yes. there was a strong guild within the kingdom and they were growing in power. once i became the former King's Sorcerer's apprentice i was trained in combat as well as sorcery. three months after my training began i was sent to the Guild's nest with the orders to join them and take them out from the inside. once i knew all of the members names, i attacked, hunting them down one by one. your father wasn't a member, but his father was and it was from him that he learned the trade. he found your grandfather's old journals, i had killed the man before he was able to teach his son of his ways." he shook his head, "but it wasn't enough. i should have searched for journals or research of any kind and destroyed it before it could fall into the wrong hands." the death of the boy's father and all those he killed rested solely on his own shoulders.

anime_creator Demitri could feel his temper rising with every syllable that came from JJ's mouth. "I'm not talking about him!!" he snapped, eyes concentrated heavily on his bowl. Demitri began to notice his stew boiling mildly, he took a few deep breaths calmed himself. "I just....Do you think there are more out there, hiding somewhere?" he asked, taking a few more bites of his stew after he managed to cool the spoonfuls of vegetables down.

JJ flicked the air at the level of the boy's forehead, his magic sending the flick directly to him, "control your temper, boy. yes, there are still some, though fewer than before. when there is suspect of mecromancy, i am sent out to investigate and deal with it should it prove to be true." he finished his meal and took his drink to the window, "if you have the stupid idea of hunting down necromancers, i'll have you know that in the condition you are in now it would take years for you to be ready to face one. forget them now and concentrate on your studies."

Demitri grumbled at the flick to his forehead. "I wasn't even thinking that......I just didn't know how common it was." he said softly, finishing his bowl of stew and feeling quite content in the amount he ate. "I remembered how angry you got when I left the grounds without permission.....but.....do you think we could visit some of the families....my father ruined?" he asked as he finally turned to see his Master. "Not today of course...I just mean someday." It was the least that he could do.
