"Geh --!" Merope raised a bloodied hand up towards his face, lips pulled back in a snarl. He looked up, only to see the bladed end of his reflection's staff come down. SHNK.Quote: You awake feeling wonderful in an incredibly plush bed. Your clothes are sitting in a nearby chair, freshly washed and folded. A small but nourishing meal is beside your bed. Once you're ready to leave, a gargoyle slides in front of the door to look you over. "Oh yes, yes. You're looking quite well aren't you." It gives you a stony smile. "I'm very glad my meagre skills could be of use to you. Now of course, I would never ask for payment for those services which have seen to both your health and your comfort. Those are a duty and privilege, such an honor, really. But..." it hisses, smiling wider to reveal several sets of shark-like teeth, "...as they say, if you think you're getting a free lunch, most likely, you are lunch." To leave the Infirmary, you must pay by giving up a key of your choice. If you have no keys, you can pay with your limbs, your senses, or your weapon (which can still be used for the minipet and post-event artifact, but no longer during this event.) He could still see the white. But this was a comforting dirty white, one that wouldn't normally be noticed unless there wasn't anything else to look at. Merope's green eyes swept across the ceiling, tracing the faint crack that threatened to creep across it. Slowly he sat up, flexing his hands and looking down at himself. No holes, no gashes, no cuts; he bear the wounds his reflection gave them. Or would they be self-inflicted? He gave them to himself, even if it wasn't exactly him. Merope donned his clothes and paid the gargoyle with a purple key, only to be stopped again by the gargoyle at the base of the stairs. Again Merope entered the kitchen that wasn't his. It was too dry for his liking despite the damp stones. Another hot pocket and glass of water later followed by a hike up the stairs, Merope was back in front of the pristine white door. Merope's fangs were bared as he flung the door open, charging into it with his staff raised. His reflection surged out of the mirror again, much faster and without the caution that was present last time. He swung too wide; the reflection swung in low and caught him. The white staff clattered noisily to the ground as Merope dropped it, one hand protectively wrapping around his stomach. He was down on one knee. The staff came down to stab him again, however he was ready. Merope's hands reached up, snatching the staff and pulling it close. As the reflection came down, Merope came up with his horns pointed forward. With a loud CRACK! the two butted heads, horns clattering and crackling against once another as they wrestled hand-to-hand, horns locked. They matched each other strength for strength. With a roar one of them twisted, turning and tossing the other up and over. But the one who was being tossed was ready; their own body contorted, shifting their weight until the pair crashed into the mirror. From the pile of shattered glass only one arose, reaching up to pull a particularly long shard from his chest. Merope looked down at himself, frowning as he retrieved the white key from inside his own cavity. He held the key in his hand, staring at it. A fist was formed around it as the boil clenched it, uttering a scream of rage as he began to punch the shattered remains of the mirror. At last he emerged from the pristine white room, unaware that the mirror had rebuilt itself behind him. Shards of mirror gleamed from his hands as he clutched his key, slowly ascending the tower after the group.
