 At Shangyue's words, 'Varinen turned to leap into action once more. Another chance to prove himself to the new King, that was exactly what he needed! The monochrome male threw himself eagerly into the mess of lions attacking Uchanjaa. Of course, his claws were sheathed. It was probably for the best. Given his past performances, Yksivarinen was as likely to cut himself with his own claws as he was anyone else, much less his target. But he did have a good, solid paw with which to whack the rebellious Guard. And he kind of owed the other lion for knocking him out earlier. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  Uchanjaa wasn't paying attention to Shangyue's words, but he saw their immediate effect as the white lion returned to attack once more and Icky came over as well. The brown male fought as best he could, scoring on his opponents with claws and fangs, but he'd been fighting for a fair amount of time now, and was beginning to tire.
Not to mention that he was now the sole focus of at least three lions. He was beginning to consider ways to wriggle out of the combat when a black paw came up from behind him and landed squarely on Uchanjaa's head.
The brown lion crumpled beneath the Royal Guards, unconscious and defeated.

"I would advice you both to shut your mouths." His eyes bore into Zhivko's, his body trembling with rage. He was not a fighter by any means but the things that did stir him to temper could take hold quickly. It was unlikely that even Hagryphus' interruption would be able to quell it.
"In fact, I suggest you take your leave before I report you as traitors to our soon-to-be-king."
So, apparently, because he wasn't spouting fury and joining in with his brother's ridiculous attempt at a rebellion meant he suddenly cared nothing for his dead relatives? Fine. Perhaps it was best everyone thought that.
And then, as quick as the fighting began, it seemed as if Shangyue's loyal followers had gotten everything under control. His head snapped up to regard his nephew, mildly surprised that there had been no deaths.
Maybe, now, they could finally get this coronation done and they could try and reclaim some of the normality they had lost.

It all happened in a rush.
One moment Nyota was mid-leap, the next she was crashing to the ground as a weight tackled her from behind while Meshach was sent rolling away from her due to the force of Orion's attack. Thrashing, she twisted around to try to face her attacker. Ears pinning as she realized Halili had pursued her, she began to wrest free a paw to swing at the lioness...until it dawned on her that Meshach had fled, Andama was nowhere to be seen, and Uchanjaa was crumpled into an unconscious heap. As quickly as it had begun, the surge of rebellion had ended. The blue lioness slumped, silent except for the raspy sound of labored breathing.

 So much happened so quickly, Halili couldn't keep track of it all. She'd gotten a solid grip on Nyota's backside, bringing the older lioness to the ground. But Orion wasn't there with her, as his attack had hit Prince Meshach, who had then run off after Princess Andama. The blue lioness seemed to have realized this all before Halili, and the beige lioness supposed it would be good manners to let her go, now that she had stopped fighting. It galled her to do so, especially when her blood was riled up for a fight, but there was no longer a good reason to hold the other down. Halili released Nyota and slowly got to her feet, aware for the first time of her multitude of cuts, scratches and bruises. Limping slightly on strained and pulled muscles, she moved to stand beside Orion.

Shangyue watched as Uchanjaa was defeated and then looked over to Nyota as she finally gave up. The fight ended much quicker than it had begun and it was probably for the best, definitely for these two who did not start the trouble but decided to participate in it. He would have to think how to punish them, which was more annoying than the little rebellion. At least he figured it was unlikely he would be able to find Meshach and Andama by morning.
"Now that that's all done, then," he said in a commanding voice, wearing an impatient frown, "I think it's time we carry on with our night."
There was nothing he could do about the fact his guards were tired out now, he still needed them. His eyes paused on Halili and Orion though he thought better of sending them on an errand, it was better that they stay where they were now.
"Nina-dini, Najisi," he said, looking to the lions that had appeared between him and his would-be attackers, deciding they were the most likely to be both energetic and trustworthy at this point, "Go see if you can't find Stellaluna and Upenzi." Orion stayed on the ground, dumbfounded, until Halili came over to stand with him. Only then could he muster the energy to push himself to his feet and stand at her side. When Shangyue's eyes went over them he prayed they wouldn't be asked anything else tonight-- and he sighed in relief when Shangyue chose other guards.
"Are you OK?" he murmured, glancing to Halili sadly. This had been a horrible night and it was sure to get even worse. He would have liked to take hope from the attempted rebellion but it was hard to be optimistic now. Shangyue would be king by the end of the night, that's just how it was going to be.OOC: Get your final posts in ASAP! On Monday, I will wrap up this RP with a few notes about the night and Shangyue's first act as King of the Mwezi'Johari! I will also work on getting the member list, history and succession posts updated!

Coronation Wrap-Up
IC
Shangyue makes it through the night and is officially crowned king of the Mwezi'Johari!
Shortly after the ceremony, several shooting stars are spotted. It is being treated as a good omen for Shangyue's reign, though some prefer to think of it only as a sign that his murdered family has joined the Great Lion or as a general sign of hope despite everything.
Meshach and Andama have disappeared from the pride. Though Meshach remains at the borders, your characters should only notice his presence there with the permission of his player magnadearel. Andama has left the pride entirely.
Open acts of defiance will result in physical punishment, you can assume it is not entirely uncommon for the next little while. I can't promise to RP out these confrontations/punishments but you can contact me to get the OK for that to have happened to your character!
IC RULE CHANGE: Shangyue's first act as king is to make the pride 100% nocturnal. His reasoning is simply that it makes the most sense for them to spend as much time as they can under the watchful eye of the Great Lion. This is not expected to be an immediate change, naturally your characters can take time to adjust but eventually all hunting parties and pride activities will be at night.
Naturally, there will still be guards required out and about during the day on patrol. This will include a general presence from Royal Guards, who have been asked to keep an eye on things in the day to assure no rebellious plots begin there.
Shangyue has been exclusively nocturnal for some time and he will continue as such. Now he is only active in the daytime in emergency situations.

I will be contacting anybody who did not respond to their invitation into the Royal Guard to make sure they truly don't want the rank soon.
For the next little while, I am allowing slaves open permission to leave the pride but you still must talk to me first, please!
A NOTE ABOUT REBELLION: Any rebellion plots have to go through me. While it is extremely likely that Shangyue will be eventually overthrown after taking the crown this way, it's only going to happen in a way I approve. Meshach, one of the nobles who attempted to start a rebellion in this ORP, has left the pride but he is still around the borders. If you have any characters interested in talking to/plotting with him, contact magnadearel!
Yes, it is most likely the eventually-successful rebellion will start with him.
None of this will be happening anytime soon.
Anybody who wishes to remove a character from the pride as a result of this plot should make sure to post in the Member Update Thread so I can keep track!
It will take me a little bit of time to get all the info threads updated and a guild-wide pride announcement out but that should come soon!
