"Oi! Dashner! Roswell!" Draconia gave the two boys a wave from the table where she was seated with Glen. She turned back to Glen to finish their conversation.
"And then he told Gryff to get his own coffee and stormed out of the school! Can you believe it? I think he's gone completely barking mad. The first day of school stress must have made him snap!" Draconia broke a dreadstick in half to illustrate her point to her beastie. "The Ghostly Gossip has hexclusive pictures of Lin walking out. It's practically a scandal!"
Indeed, the pictures that had appeared on the Ghostly Gossip had stoked conversation in the creepateria, and it seemed like every table was talking about Lin dissing Gryff. It was like Meowlody or Purrsephone just up and leaving their little group - in other words, unthinkable. When Dashner and Roswell sat down, Draconia held up her phone for them to see.
"Lin McGearloch dropped out of school! Can you believe it?!"

Right before the bell rang Vanissha had just enough time to put in her own entry for the School Fall Dance. Ripping a piece of paper she jotted down 'Midnight in Hauntlywood.' She hoped her entry would win, but she saw JD put in his own entry. And that when he spoke to her! "JD the DJ right? From the summer night last month..." She remembered him, with a smile. "I'm sure you remember me. Vanissha." Of course he did! Who wouldn't? She motioned with a head nod to the dance. "It's a bit of a ways and still a lot of entires to submit, but may the best monster win! I hope I see you there."She flashed a smile just as the Bell rang and Headless headmistre's announcement called out. This was going well she reminded him where they met and her name, and added that she was going to the dance while hinting as she fun competition. Who doesn't love competition? And the bell rang just as she was wrapping up! Freaky Flawless! "Well I'm off to class. See ya DJ!" she'd nick-name him by his profession so he'd remember her, and think she was flirting, but it wasn't too much where he wouldn't get a chuckle out of it. She waved by to him and walked to her first class, Bitology. ---- The rest of her classes where going well, no one bumped into her, or sat on her, she evn got the answer a few questions in class! Finally it was just about time for Lunch! She'd have to introduce her self to the other Fearleaders and see where JD the DJ was!

Draconia St George "Lin McGearloch dropped out of school! Can you believe it?!" Dashner sat down with Draconia, Glen, and Roswell. He gave them a nod in greeting before hearing the news."He. Did. WHAT?!" Dashner held his fist up to punch the table, but the look on Draconia's face told him to refrain. He thought about it a second... Should he be mad? Or should he be glad? After all, he DID let his skunk... Leave his mark on Dashner."Something has to be up, I couldn't imagine why Gryff would make him so mad! ... Well, maybe. But you think he'd be used to it, you know?"

Roswell shook his head at the news and picture of Lin leaving!
"I can't believe it, the little dude--Not stellar! For the sirkus!"
*Beep!* Max corrects Roswell's bad Earth American English
"I mean the circus!" He added quickly hoping no one else herd the beep.
"MAX. What is a Circus?"
"Beep be-ep! Beep Boop." MAX replied simply, to everyone else it didn't sound like much, however, to the alien boy it was a boring run on sentence. He knew what a run on sentence was now! An how to avoid them! Stellar studying at the Li-bury for Dead Language in Summer school!
"Ah! Performances. Oh I understand now." Roswell wasn't one to judge. After all he'd done something similar, in his youth, with his music career, it was only now he lived as a normal monster.
"I don't know him well... however, perhaps Lin is focusing him his career as a circus performer?" He realized after he spoke this wouldn't leave a whole lot of earth time to eat all his food!

As Marceline struggled to keep her eyes open through Mr. Hack's lecture in Advanced Mad Science, she felt her iCoffin buzz in her pocket. She discreetly checked her screen to find a message from the Ghostly Gossip! Best to wait until later, she decided; the bell rang shortly after and she headed to lunch, checking the message along the way.
Like many other students that day, she was shocked to hear the news of Lin's departure from Monster High. She spotted Dashner, Draconia, Grey and Glen sitting together in the creepateria, and waved as she got in line to get lunch.
"I'm sure y'all have heard the news already?" She approached the table with her tray, silently requesting to sit with them. "I just can't believe it, m'self! It seems unlike Lin to run off and join the circus!"

Glen was listening attentively to Draconia as she explained to him just what had occurred between Gryff and Lin in the Coffin Corridor only moments before their lunch period had started. While she explained what she heard and what Spectra had reported on her 'Ghostly Gossip' blog, Glen was busying himself trying to subdue a particularly long and aggressive strand of spagoonie.
There just wasn't an end to the thing!
As Draconia invited Roswell and Dashner to sit down alongside of them, Glen braced his hands on the table's edge and inhaled deeply, and the spagoonie's end whipped out of the pile on his tray and lashed him across the forehead.
Victory!...Sort of...
Glen grabbed a napkin and wiped the scare-inara sauce from his face and scooted down a spot so that Marceline could have a seat. He frowned, and finally spoke up on the topic on everyone's minds.
"I don't know what's more shocking! Lin quitting school or the fact the GG actually got a story right! Maybe Spectra is losing her touch?"
Glen rested his chin on his hand while idly reaching for his Red Ghoul with the other.
"I wonder what's going on. This just isn't like Lin. I mean, I always thought he was something of an ankle biter but everyone knew he thought the world of Gryff and Atomica! Maybe all of Gryff's demands finally pushed Lin off the deep end."
Glen then slurped a healthy dose of his Red Ghoul through a straw and set it back down before he asked.
"How is Headmistress Bloodgood reacting? I mean, nobody in the history of this school ever quit! Sure, mom told me they fired a teacher once, but a student just leaving? Horrors!"

Ronan wanted to actually eat today, so he nodded a greeting to Meme but avoided sitting with her, knowing full well her beastie would be joining her soon enough. When food wasn't involved he didn't mind Ascreama, but as soon as she started to eat it became all too much for the young monster to deal with. He knew it was rude, Meme had explained as much, but what was he supposed to do? The only reasonable approach was that of simple avoidance.
He spotted his dorm mate chatting to a group of monsters, including several he recognised. Seemed everyone cared what the Gremlin had decided to do. Ronan couldn't quite understand why everyone cared so much, alright the circus was a bit of a strange choice but he couldn't quite figure out why every other student was so invested in the career choice of a single little gremlin boo. He shook his head and slid into a seat beside Dashner.
"Why is everyone so concerned by this?"

Draconia raised an eyebrow at Dashner's new friend. An introduction would have been nice before butting into the conversation.
"I rather like Lin." Everyone's head swiveled toward Draconia in mild surprise. "I do! He's a bit obnox, it's true, but he appreciates fine literature." Draconia thought about how happily he'd accepted all of her reading recommendations at the bookstore two days ago.
"And besides, er...friend..." Draconia turned back to Ronan. "This is Monster High. This school is fit to bursting with students, with hundreds more trying to get in each year who don't make it. For someone to just up and quit and leave to jump through flaming hoops or whatever...inconceivable!"
Draconia looked across the creepateria at the myriad of students. Some were gossiping about Lin, others about an incident involving Howleen Wolf earlier in the day, and still others were chatting about completely unrelated teenage errata. Different types of monsters sat at every table, with no one monster type dominating over another.
"I just....can't imagine not wanting to be here!"

"I don't know, it seems sort of artistic to me." Kai was sitting with Layla LaMia and Nero de Sphinx at a different table in the packed creepateria. Outside of Gryff and Atomica, he was probably the best expert on Lin behavior, but that was only because last year he had been in a plane accident, struck by lightning and bonked on the head, giving him a case of amnesia that the Trouble Tribe had taken advantage of to turn him into a non-colorful pants wearing Tribe-member for a couple weeks.
That sort of thing had happened a lot last year! Kai was hoping this year was less filled with random head trauma. And amnesia. And mind control. And hypnosis. It was a REALLY odd year last year.
"Lin's a gremlin who likes to build instead of destroy. He's like...a very tiny, sometimes skunk-smelling rebel. Maybe after facing the prospect of yet another year of blowing up kids' projects in Metal Chop, he had a long introspective think and decided to shift his mind-paradigm." Kai held up his claws on either side of his head and made a 'boom!' motion. "What's more fittingly artistic a way to symbolically leave your old life behind than to ACTUALLY leave your old life behind?!"
This is how conversation at the artist's table always went. It was food for their stomachs AND for thought.

Sadly it appeared the Selkie was oblivious to any social faux pas and simply shrugged. "I cannot imagine being anywhere else either." Actually that was a lie, he could, he just didn't much care for the image it conjured up. Nothing but snow and ice as far as they eye could see, and only his mother for company on what was set to be a very long and very dark winter. No thank you. Monster High was a far better option, and a chance he wasn't about to throw away. "Perhaps you could ask him yourself rather than speculating wildly? He may have an excellent reason." Another shrug and he went back to his lunch.

Nero nodded at Kai.
"Makes sense to me. That tiny little dude was always working on ten things at once, I'm amazed he had time for school. You know this year he tried to sign up for all four Chop Classes at once? He was ahead of me in line at the guidance office. Mr. D'eath was even more exasperated than per norm so I decided not to push for a third music class this semester."
He bit into his fried dragon wings and thought back on the help Lin had given him constructing the automatic auto-tune. Even with help it had taken so much time and energy that he'd collapsed into a near coma for the summer to recover.
"D'you think he's still available for help on the sound board? I kinda don't want to touch the speaker cables myself."

Dashner nodded in somewhat agreement. He hasn't heard of anybody that went to Monster High and actually wanted to leave..
"But, I mean, why the CIRCUS? Out of everything in the unlife, he chooses a circus?"
Dashner loved circuses, but he had yet to understand why a monster would drop out of school to be in one.
"Oh yeah!" Ronan, this is Draconia, my beast friend. Draconia, this is Ronan, my roommate in the doomitories."
He nodded silently and went back to eating his food.

Hellene swooped over to Draconia's table with chair and neatly inserted herself next to her BFF.
"Have you heard!? Of course you've heard, everyone has heard and it's just stunning I can hardly believe it myself. Has anyone ever dropped out of Monster High? This is the scoop of the year and I can't believe that Spectra managed to get a picture of Gryff's reaction, I've never seen anyone's eyes so wide or so angry I thought just looking at my iCoffin would set me on fire!"
Hellene picked at her sunflower seed salad but didn't take a single bite. She'd been trying so hard all summer to do serious photography and reporting and come up with some good but not terribly newsworthy pictures of Uncle Wocky and Glen's mom. Now here was actual news happening at school, and where had she been? In the dark room. This was a sign that she needed to start using digital.
"Do you think he really meant it? I mean it could have been a tantrum of some kind I heard Gryff had shouted for him but he's always shouting so surely that can't have been it."

Ronan moved to shake Draconia's hand when Hellene appeared and slid into a seat between them. "Uh.. pleased to meet you." He managed distractedly. "Perhaps he craves the excitement and the smell of candy floss." He shrugged. "Someone has to want to join the circus or we'd never have any circuses. I just hope his act doesn't involve catapulting terrified animals at the audience again." He speculated for a moment on what his own parents would say if he'd randomly decided to join the circus, he doubted they'd be particularly pleased by the news. "Wonder what his family will think..." he mused aloud.

"Charmed to meet-" Draconia held up a hand to shake, and got a handful of Hellene scarf when Hellene sat down. Draconia shrugged.
"I've met Lin's grimmother. She's got hexellent taste in romance novels. And I know his father does product testing for Gill Bates, you know, glitch testing next generation iCoffins and the like. They seem like such a stable, ordinary family of gremlins." Draconia grabbed the pepper shaker from the middle of the table, unscrewed it, and dumped the entire contents on her food. Creepateria food was so bland!
"Perhaps your right though, Ronan. We shouldn't judge Lin too harshly. But still....Oh!" Draconia turned to Hellene. "Hellene! I've a brilliant idea for you. You should try to interview Lin for the Gory Gazette! What an hexclusive that would be!"
