With a small yawn and a groan from the light hitting his eyes, Nick sat up on the bed and tried to look at Mai but first he took a quick glance as the clock. "W-what's wrong? It's 2 in the morning." he yawned again. Something had to be wrong for Mai to be awake at this time, plus by the sound of her voice... something was bothering her. "Your voice, is shaky. Something happened?" he said worriedly as he tried to look closer at her.

Nick rubbed his eyes and got out of bed. "Don't worry 'bout it. I think I ran out but I can make you a tea that helps you sleep. I used to make it for for your sister back when in college." he said yawning one last time before heading towards the door and headed toward the kitchen. Last thing he wanted was to make Mai feel uncomfortable. If he could help her, even in the smallest of things, he would. Making a tea right now was no problem whatsoever. Nick has never been a bad guy. He would always help anyone, even a stranger, he if he could.

Nick shook his head and offered Mai a sleepy smile. "I'll wait until you feel better." he ruffled her hair and smiled some more. There was no way he would be able to rest knowing that Mai was awake feeling sick. Until he saw she was feeling better then he would back to bed. "You can sleep in my bed if you want. I'll sleep on the couch." He grabbed a water bottle and began drinking from it. "What's wrong though?" he asked her as he placed his hand over her forehead checking if she had a fever or something.

Even after Mai told Nick that she would be fine, he still couldn't keep calm. She was feeling insecure, scared, and bad in general and if he could help her or do something to make her feel at ease he would. "Do you want me to take you home? I'm worried Mai. I had never seen you,... well... scared." Nick had always known Mai as a strong girl, seeing her like that and knowing that she had night terrors was really shocking to him.

"I just want you to be safe and well. That's all. If you need anything else don't be afraid to wake me up... Sorry to bother you anyways. Night." he sighed and headed back to his bed. Although he told Mai he was going back to sleep, he really couldn't. Until he heard Mai heading back to sleep or leaving, he would be able to sleep peacefully. It wasn't anything biased. Nick had always been like that, whenever someone needed help, Nick wouldn't even think it twice before helping the person.

The weather had been turning nice lately and like every good late afternoon, Nick took his jog at the park. With his earphones and his ipod, some shorts and a jacket, and his running shoes. It was important to keep healthy and even though at times Nick couldn't make time for exercising, lately Nick figured he had to. After Mai left and ignored him for the past days, Nick has had time to put his priorities in order. Plus, he wasn't going to beg and if Mai wanted to be left alone then so be it. So much for trying to be nice.

At least one call would've sufficed... he thought with a sigh as he finished stretching out and began his jog around the park. Since it was a dog park he always had to watch his step so he wouldn't step on animal dung. Anyways, since work has been incredibly busy lately he hasn't had time to think about Mai too much although he still worried about her. Part of him thinks that it was him who messed up and should apologize, but another part of him thinks that he didn't deserve this and that she was being partially unreasonable. Maybe Mai was right and it was time to meet new women. Lisa wasn't coming back from the death and Mai had rejected him indirectly therefore it was time to give himself a chance with the "other fish in the sea". Running at the park was a good way for example. There were just so many beautiful and single women running or walking their dogs. It was start. Plus, the man knew he was very good looking and so meeting women wasn't going to be a problem. He had already noticed a few women eyeing him.

For now, he kept on jogging around the park, not really expecting anything or anyone. Getting lost in the music as he ran, it just helped him relax and forget about everything for now...

Nick removed his earbuds and looked ahead to see the dog coming his way. Until he saw the runner after it, it was when his face turned... more serious and expressionless. He even put back on his earbuds and pressed play on his ipod. He said nothing and began to walk away as if nothing. There were many things he wanted to say and tell Mai, but his dignity and pride wouldn't allow him. Sleeping with her was not right. That is what surely made this happen. he thought sighing and giving Mai his back. He felt that talking was pointless. He still looked healthy though and even though all Mai could see of Nick right now was his back since he was walking away, the distance and resent he had for her could be felt.

Nick scoffed not believing what he was hearing. How can she complain of him giving her the cold-shoulder right now if that is what she had been doing to him for so long?! Even after he tried to fix things at the beginning. He even smirked before speaking and shutting her up. "Why would you even get mad? Isn't that what you wanted? Us not talking? Because that seems to be all you want lately. And yes, you've been a huge bipolar d**k Mai. I'm sorry." he sighed, frowning still and looking mad. Nick had actually raised his voice for the first time at Mai! He never raised his voice. Not even when he was being cheated on in games or because someone hit his car. After finally opening up to someone after his fiance's death, after finally trusting someone, that same someone destroys all that trust that was built. It left him hurt, let all that pain he had left behind return, and now he had shut down again.

"If you have anything to say to me, say it now because honestly, I have nothing else left to say to you." There it was again, the cold-shoulder. But all this was necessary for both of them to fix things.
