Kokoroki I hate America and it's sad excuses for english dialects Woah, woah...eh, eh. surprised That's my country you're talking about! stare While I may not be so proud of all the people that live here, our wild culture, and some of our policies, I'm surely proud to be American and proud of my land of the free and home of the brave. I don't want to hear any of that negativity in this guild. Think how you want; don't express it in front of others who may get offended.

I actually really like some American dialects of English.
I like the Midwestern (ex. "standard television news anchor" accent) accents, Northern (particularly my mom's Brooklyn accent, New Jersey and Massachussetts accents) accents, and even that crazy accent that people from Minnesota have.
I hate Southern accents with a fiery passion though. mad
It's too bad I live in North Carolina. neutral

The Brooklyn accent is kind of cute. I do like it to a certain extent, but it can get annoying if it's exaggerated.

Do you guys remember PunkPrincess? She was a mod in this guild but she quit gaia some time ago.
Anyway, I talked to her on the phone on Friday and she said (herself having a London/British accent like the one in Harry Potter pirate ) that although I had what she considered the "typical American/Canadian" accent, I pronounced some words with a New York accent.
I was like, eek !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???

Dave Also, I find Californian accents pretty annoying. I assume you mean valley-speak? I guarentee we don't all sound like that. Quite a range of accents can be found in California.

Mostly valley-speak, but also to a lesser extent the stereotypical surfer/skater accent.

Dave Mostly valley-speak, but also to a lesser extent the stereotypical surfer/skater accent. As I said, those accents aren't very prevalent. It's dependent on where you are in California.
