♵ ♶ ♷ ξllery Ѧdvimi ♷ ♶ ♵ Ellery's eyes never left the thug, breathing heavily from the exercise. " Prison's too good for a demon like this man. He deserves death for everything he's done to that baby. Do you hear me? DEATH!" He lifted him again, only to throw him across the table and against the wall. He leaped over, crouching over the man and lifting him enough to spit in his face. " You will rot in Hell for everything you've done to that child. He is an innocent, a baby, the child of your former best friend, and you've taken complete advantage of him. You have ruined him for the rest of his life, and the day you're finally murdered for your crimes, I promise you, I will be the very last thing you see before you're dragged into Hell."

Fredrich Waltz
In this world, one cannot say anything without proof to back them up.Despite his weak stance, his labored breathing, and his bleeding mouth, Tom continued to smile. " I'd do it all over again if I could." he sneered. Before Ellery could do anymore to him, however, a gloved hand reached out and grabbed a fistful of the back of his shirt. Fredrich yanked him back and used his other large hand to grab both of the man's wrists. " Calm the hell down." he seethed into the man's ear. " I understand your anger, but you cannot give in to his taunts. Do you want to rot in jail? How would you ever be able to face your brother as a murderer?" he yelled and tightened his hold on Ellery. Without proof, you'll never catch me. ................................................ ................................................

Once he was restrained and away from the abusive adult, Ellery bowed his head in shame. Fredrich was right. He could never face Basil with the guilt of a killer on his- Wait. " Then you kill him," said Ellery, looking up at him through his brown hair. " The surveillance system is down, there's no recording of anything, and we have complete control over him. Fredrich... you need to do this." Ellery leaned closer, his whispering seeming like intimate council. " He's going to get out one day and do it again to another little boy if we let him live. And he'll never stop."

Fredrich Waltz
In this world, one cannot say anything without proof to back them up." What-?" Fredrich breathed, nearly releasing Ellery due to his shock. He looked at the brown-haired man for a moment then flickered his gaze to the bleeding yet grinning criminal. True, with that look on his face and the intention in his heart he seemed like a living demon, but... " I cannot take his life, Ellery." the detective said with a shake of his head. " It's not right. He will rot in prison, let the people there take his life. I will not if I don't have to." Without proof, you'll never catch me. ................................................ ................................................

He will not change, and he will die an old man, still molesting children." Ellery's hands managed to reach out, gripping his coat and tugging him closer. " Don't act like you've never killed before, Fredrich, I can see it in your eyes. This man is a true monster. He took away a child's innocence simply because his wife didn't want to sleep with him while still mourning her soldier husband. And he will walk out of that prison after serving a maximum of twenty-five years, ready to do it again. You and I both know that he'll survive until the end of his sentence." Ellery sighed and bowed his head. " I know it's crazy, but it's the only way to save any others he may break once he's free, to save those children." Awesome nerd Gah... not good at convincing.

Fredrich Waltz
In this world, one cannot say anything without proof to back them up.Fredrich stared into Ellery's eyes for a moment. He was deluded into thinking that killing this man would instantly make the world better. The fool, couldn't he see that only another would pop up in his place? That this man's death wouldn't hardly put even an imprint on the face of the world? Of course not, despite this songwriter's brash attitude, he tried to see things in a better point of view, and right now Tom was standing in his view. A sigh left the tall man's lips. " Very well." he muttered without looking at Ellery, though his dark blue eyes hardened instantly. He turned his head and looked over at the criminal. Tom stared into his eyes and gave him a smirk until he saw the man's eyes. They weren't enraged like the scrawnier guy's, they were... empty, cold, numb. It was as if he didn't even see him as a person, just an object. Those eyes, they were vortexes into an empty abyss. Tom's smirk faded away. He was staring into the eyes of a demon. Suddenly, the gravity of everything he had done began to set in. He wasn't going to jail, he wouldn't have to fight his way through vicious thugs or corrupt jailers, because the demon eyed detective was going to kill him. No one would care, either. He would die and people would rejoice - he knew that snot-nosed punk over there would. He was going to die, and what did he have to show for it? A floozy of a wife and a wimp of a stepchild?! " No..." he finally began to speak. He looked up to see the detective turning to fully face him, he pressed himself against the wall. " No! I can't go out like this! I've got too much to live for!" Fredrich began advancing towards him. " I-I can change! Honest! I-I won't beat them anymore!" The detective stopped within arm's reach of him and moved his gloved hands together. His left fingers gripped at the leather of his right glove. " I'll leave the kid alone! Yeah! I-I'll even divorce my wife! Please!" The glove slowly slid off his hand. Soft, pale skin was shown, but it wasn't his hand that terrified Tom. It was almost as if Fredrich had pulled it out of his glove - but that was impossible, because what was now in his hand, held by long fingers, was a silencer pistol. The criminal gulped down the blood he still had from Ellery's beating and dug his nails behind him into the wall. " Please! Please, don't kill me! I don't want to die!!!" he cried, tears falling from his pathetic face. Fredrich didn't even acknowledge his existence. He stretched out his arm - his arm's length along with the pistol closing the distance between them - and pressed the tip of the gun against the whimpering man's forehead. Tom caught his breath when he felt the cold sting of the gun's metal, and as he looked up and made eye contact with the detective, one thought flashed across his mind: He has the eyes of a demon.Fredrich pulled the trigger. His wrist twitched only a little from recoil, and Tom's head hit the wall hard. The way his body hit the wall made it seem as if he was staring up at the ceiling, or maybe at the blood now decorating the wall. Slowly the corpse slid to the floor, and all the while Fredrich put his glove back on, looking as though nothing too interesting had happened. Without proof, you'll never catch me. ................................................ ................................................

♵ ♶ ♷ ξllery Ѧdvimi ♷ ♶ ♵ Ellery watched in silence, walking over to the body to tilt his head and simply gaze at it. The dead body was truly a thing of strange beauty, and relieved art. It was as if a weight was lifted from the world, although the songwriter knew clearly this wasn't true. The world was still corrupt and disgusting, and Ellery waited patiently for the day his own death was carried out. But until then, he knew that this man before him was something more than a detective. HE was... different. " I don't know what you are, but I think I'm starting to understand who you are," said Ellery, stuffing his hands into his pockets and sighing. After a moment of further silence, he spoke again. " You go tell the kid that his stepfather will never be in his life again. I'm going to go fill out the forms for his death. Be gentle with Daniel. He wasn't expecting to lose a parent, albeit an awful one, today." With that, Ellery walked to the door, stopping as soon as he stood before it. He bowed his head, then suddenly turned to Fredrich again. " I wonder, could you kill someone you love so easily? Say, Ethan. Could you kill him as easily as you killed that... that sick b_st_rd?"

Fredrich Waltz
In this world, one cannot say anything without proof to back them up.Fredrich stared down at the body and the blood that was once contained in it before turning to look Ellery dead in the eye, his dark blue eyes still holding fragments of that cold darkness from earlier. What a strange question. There used to be a time where he would answer that killing anyone was a simple matter, but Ethan? The innocent boy that somehow found his way into his heart, thoughts, and very being? If he had to, could he really hold a gun up to his head and pull the trigger? " To kill Ethan would be to kill myself. I will never harm him, so I would appreciate you never speaking like it's an option." he said with iciness in his tone. He gazed at the body once more then walked out of the area altogether. The door opened with a low creak and the detective cautiously entered the room Daniel was held in. By then his emptiness left, and his attitude had warmed up to normal. " Daniel?" he called out softly, gently, as he closed the door behind him. Without proof, you'll never catch me. ................................................ ................................................

♵ ♶ ♷ ξllery Ѧdvimi ♷ ♶ ♵ " And to kill me would be no skin off your back," he said quietly as Fredrich left, eyes falling back to the floor. He knew that he shouldn't care anything for what Fredrich, or who he wanted, but it still stung knowing the truth. Fredrich could never harm Ethan, but he could murder Ellery in cold-blood without even a blink of the eye. With a small sigh, Ellery set off for the front, sitting at his desk and starting to write in forms, losing his thoughts in his work. Daniel looked up from his toys, blinking at the tall man. " Detective Freddy," he acknowledged, standing and holding his bear to his chest. " What is it? Where's Ellie?" The four-year-old rose up on his tiptoes to look behind Fredrich in an attempt to find Ellery.

Fredrich Waltz
In this world, one cannot say anything without proof to back them up.Seeing the little boy step towards him, Fredrich softened up and crouched down to be closer to his level. " He had to take care of something." he explained softly as he draped an arm on top of one knee. " Daniel," he started slowly. " There's been an accident. Your stepfather, Tom, will never be able to harm you again." Without proof, you'll never catch me. ................................................ ................................................

He stood outside the room, listening in and watching the police escort the hysterical mother to the hospital after her once-again attempted suicide.

" I have elected to be the child's temporary guardian along with Detective Waltz, as we're obviously the only two he will speak to. I need you to sign this, releasing him from the station."

Fredrich Waltz
In this world, one cannot say anything without proof to back them up.Slightly surprised by the hug, Fredrich smiled softly and hugged the child back. Officer Lawrence eyed the paper handed to him, keeping his hands in his pockets. " Waltz really agreed to this?" he grunted. " I know that man, and he usually never gets home after days of work. Where is he, anyway? He would've told me himself." Without proof, you'll never catch me. ................................................ ................................................

Ellery sighed and thrust the paper at the officer again. " Right now, that child needs someone to trust, and the only ones he trusts are Detective Waltz and I. Unless you want to put him in the foster system until his mother is finally deemed sane once more, the boy will live with me and spend his time with Waltz and I until he can be reintroduced into society."
