Alexis smiled slightly, not really bothered by it. "Well, my aunt and mother taught me to read Japanese, which is a different language, but don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. Kekkyokunotokoro, anata wa, umi no Ĺjodearu," he said with amusement, well aware she wouldn't understand the last part. "Besides, you probably know more than me, since my mother didn't do much other than bake bread and weave baskets while my father.... did little better," he said quietly. His tone said when he hesitated that his father actually didn't do better, and had actually gotten much worse after her passing.

Aoi wondered what Japanese was, even though her name was of Japanese origin she hadn't any clue. Her father told her that he had liked the name of a few dolphins that had passed through his home village when he was a boy, bringing her mother with them and they decided to name her after said dolphins. "I don't really know any other language other than this one. Though my mother knows another language, but father wouldn't let her teach it to me... He thought that I'd use it when I was angry at him and act like I couldn't understand him... He said that my name was given to me by my mother, after one of the dolphins that were caring for her and her own last name, though I don't know what language it was. Aoi Mizushima is my full name. I told you my first name, but I never told you my full name. And the weird thing is, my mother told me that I should introduce myself as Mizushima Aoi. I never figured why she wanted me to introduce myself with my last name first..." she said in a rambling manner as if she were confusing herself over that in that very moment.{{ooc:}}

Alexis tilted his head thoughtfully. "It seems that your mother knew Japanese or Chinese, though which I'm not sure; I'd lean towards Chinese myself, as that manner of speaking leans towards Japanese speech," he said thoughtfully. "By the way, what I said before translated as 'after all, you are a princess of the sea'," he said with a teasing smile as he started massaging the strawberry-peach scented conditioner through her hair after making sure that the shampoo was fully rinsed out. "My aunt and mother were both Japanese, so I know some of it myself, though my father... was from the island of Gin Iruka, and frankly... the guy seemed more interested in the local bars than his family," he said with a sigh.

"Ah. I should probably try looking into that, though it may not be too easy for me, since I can't go home and my mother has no family other than my father and myself..." Aoi said before listening to what else Alexis had to say. As she heard what his words before translated to her face went a deep scarlet color. She hadn't thought of herself as a princess and never had anyone call her that, other than her father that is. Her face felt like it was burning and the hot water was just not helping, though she didn't want to jump back into the cooler water to make the feeling go away. She very much enjoyed the compliment and was not going to reject it.
When she heard of his mother and aunt and how he had learned some Japanese from them she smiled, her face still very red. However, when she heard of how his father treated his family she frowned. "I'm sorry that your father was such a bad person... I haven't met anyone like that, so I really don't know what it's like... Well... when my family lost everything I met some bad people, though they were trying to kill my parents and were trying to kidnap me to do who knows what... Stupid shark people..." She said, muttering the last part mostly to herself.{{ooc:}}

Alexis shrugged, not all that surprised. "Every family has a black sheep or two that they don't want to talk about often, trust me.. I just had the bad luck to have one as a parent, but frankly, it doesn't matter that much anymore, since I likely won't see him again. I can say that it doesn't bother me as much as it once did," he said with a sigh. He felt a slight itching as the kelp bandage loosened and fell into the water, due to the steam slipping underneath the kelp. He unintentionally brushed her shoulder with one soapy hand as he worked the conditioner through her hair. "It isn't that we suffer loss, whether financial, physical, or otherwise... but how we deal with said loss that matters. You, obviously, are strong mentally, spiritually, and physically or you wouldn't have survived this long.... me, I'm just plain stubborn and observant," he said with a faint smile.

Aoi listened in silence, not wanting to interrupt Alexis or anything, but when she heard him finish speaking she nodded. "I'm still sorry. It's just who I am, though I'm glad that you're not letting it bother you anymore." she said as she thought of a reply to say to Alexis' last statement about her. Before long she came up with something and said, "Well, I guess that I am. I had a lot of help from dolphins and on occasion, merfolk, but mostly I was alone." She had noticed that Alexis had brushed her shoulder with his hand, but she didn't say anything, due to her mitaking it for him going to wash her back, though she wasn't sure that he'd be able to with her still wearing her top.{{ooc:}}

Alexis tilted his head slightly, shifting slightly as he gently rinsed Aoi's hair. "I can wash other things if you like, but I'm not going to force you to do something you don't want to do, whether it's to help me or otherwise," he said quietly.

Hearing that Alexis would wash more than hair, if he was allowed, Aoi blushed yet again; which was easy to make happen, since she was relatively shy. "Just my back maybe... And I wouldn't mind getting your back for you and I could wash your hair if you'd like...?" she said shyly in response. It was good that Alexis was not forcing her to do anything because she was not one to like being forced into anything. She wasn't going to get angry or anything, not at all, though if she felt intimidated she normally would swim away and hide somewhere. Although she didn't know of where to hide from him because she did not how much of the area he knew and what he didn't know.{{ooc:}}

Alexis chuckled. "I don't mind at all. In fact, we probably have in common that we haven't recently spent much time with others that could technically carry a conversation," he said with a slight shrug. He was mildly amused when a soft washcloth swatted him in the side of the head and landed on his shoulder before sliding off and landing on Aoi's shoulder. He blinked, then shifted his gaze to BÇihĂŠ, who bobbed her head as if nodding. "Great, a matchmaking dolphin," he mumbled under his breath, not sure if he should be amused.

Aoi's face was still red andshe knew it, though she knew that it would be pointless to try rubbing the blush away when there was a chance of her face just turning scarlet again. "Yeah..." she mumbled softly, just before she felt a washcloth falling onto her shoulder. Looking back at the dolphin in the water she heard what Alexis had muttered, due to their close proximity and her face blushed ever redder.{{ooc:}}

Alexis saw Aoi's blush and sighed, shifting uncomfortably. "Personally, I can see why she'd try it, considering you're naturally beautiful... personally, if I looked like you, I'd be more worried about mermen chasing me around for my looks," he teased her. He gently rubbed her shoulders with one hand as he spoke. "Yet you chose to befriend me, someone with luck about as pleasant as a toothless shark's on a hunt," he sighed softly.

Aoi was nibbling her lower lip as she listened to Alexis and she had to look away because she was just so embarrassed at all the complimenting that she was being given. "I-I suppose I am.. I mean I have seen mermen looking at me, though fatheralways scared them off. I thought they didn't like me or something at first, but a few had tried to court me. Although father would have nothing of that..." she recalled the time that the merfolk that were more shark-like than anything else came to her village and tried to kidnap her and she shuddered at all that they had almost tried doing to her. "I don't like sharks... especially those shark people... They tried kidnapping me and I don't even want to think of what they were going to do to me..." she said, her voice getting really low.{{ooc:}}

Alexis tilted his head with a slight frown. "There are certain things I truly dislike, rapists and kidnappers among them," he said quietly. He heard a soft snapping crackle as no less than four more of the remaining ten candles, for a total of fifteen candles, ignited suddenly in merry flickering flames. He blinked as he saw the ignition clearly this time and paused. Is it possible that I'm somehow doing that? he thought. He shifted his shoulders subtly, feeling his skin prickling as if charged with unknown energy. He shifted his hand carefully and let the soft washcloth shift down until it dipped beneath the water before he drew it back up and rubbed the cloth on the bar of gardenia scented soap before he took a deep breath and started rubbing it gently on Aoi's shoulders.

Aoi had noticed the candles crackling to life this time and she looked at them utterly confused. She had no idea of what was happening with them. She didn't even really know what they were nor did she know what the flames were that were flickering on them. If they'd have been closer she'd have tried touching them, but she soon thought better of that. "I can understand that... To be honest that's probably what would have happened to me if they'd have been allowed to take me with them..." she said as she felt Alexis rubbing her shoulders down with a good smelling soap.{{ooc:}}

Alexis smiled faintly, shrugging. "I doubt they'd have succeeded easily, as intelligent as you are, from what I've seen," he said quietly as he gently massaged her upper back and shoulders. He paused as he carefully rinsed the soap away. He blinked, looking up as a stream of light came from a hollow 'tube' in the ceiling, the light being a soft lavender-blue, a few shades darker than Aoi's hair.
