Stormy wasn't sure she had really woken up when her eyes opened and saw nothing but darkness.
It took her a moment to fight past the haze of sleep and realize she was not in her room, very much not. When she noticed her hands were bound, it took everything in her not to squeak with rising panic, wriggling her wrists with little results. Her body still ached from having her shield broken so thoroughly, but everything seemed in tact for now . . . Hopefully she wasn't bleeding.
Thane?
< < I am prepared to strike something with a vengeance. > >
So at least her weapon was still good, though . . . The runic staff was gone. Crapcrapcrap-- Aria wouldn't be pleased if she didn't retrieve it. Stormy swallowed her anxiety down with a shudder, turning her head to check on her teammates. "Guys?" she whispered just as she caught the sound of muffled conversation outside. "Dave's team"? As Stormy tried to puzzle it out, the alarm went off and began to fill her vision with alternating moments of sickly yellow and darkness, and she winced at the commotion. Still desperately did she try to unbind her hands, wondering if she could go double-jointed for a brief moment--
--another burst of light blinded her, and her legs were tensed and ready to kick the first person who drew near--
and then she heard Mark's voice. It took a few seconds for her eyes to stop being filled with dots, but rather than annoyance with his previous lack of preparation, Stormy was relieved to see him (even if it was with odd gear), and even more relieved that he had the tool necessary to get them freed.
< < Might we smite him? > >
We still have a mission to do, Stormy replied as, with a sigh of relief, she grabbed the staff back and looked it over--it didn't appear damaged at least.
< < Not even a little? > >
Not right now.
Stormy turned to her group and leaned down to help rouse them, pressing her hands with concern over Tuck and Evan's faces especially after seeing them crumple on the floor back there. "Alright guys, formation," she said as she backed away to let them get their gear. "Herc, up front with me. Sherry, Tuck, you two stay in the middle so you have access to everyone in case something happens. Nevada, you want to take the flank again?"

The next thing that Tuck felt was Stormy's hands on his face, and he roused with a soft moan. He felt like he'd been hit by a freight train, twice, and as he opened his eyes and pushed himself upright, Tuck glanced around the room.
After allowing himself a brief, brief respite, Tuck rose to his feet and fell into formation. He nudged Evan with the toe of his boot as he did so, brows lifted in a sort of 'you okay, man' expression. He offered the Sun a hand up.
"You got it, Stormy," Tuck grunted, though he'd feel better up front with Evan. This was Stormy and Nevada's mission, though, and he wasn't about to demand they listen to him.
"You okay, Nevada? Sherry?"

Nevada groaned as she came too. The first was the sensation was being bound. The second was that her team was around her. The third was Stormys sweet voice beckoning them to wake up. No not Stormy, it sounded nasally and annoying and the reason she was bound up and beaten. Mark.
"I'm going to kill the weasely b*****d." She rolled her head exprimentally stand OMG up...stumbling from legs being asleep then straighter. "I'm okay big guy." She gave Tuck a meaningful look, "I'm sorry I didn't get you away. Guards got us pretty good." More bruises for the trainee.
"Staying at the flank, got it Hun~" Nevada gave the boys meaningful look. Someone better be watching Stormys a** like it was the Midas hand of gold. (Stormy would get it).
"Sherry Hun, you okay too?"

It was the alarms that brought her consciousness fully to the surface. She might recall groggy snippets of darkness and the distinct uncomfortable that was being bound, but mostly that seemed like some kind of bad dream. Alarms and lights and -was that an explosion? Sherry woke right up, aware that things were far to bright and loud. It would seem they'd been captured, rescued (she'd have to remember to thank Mark later), and were still very much on the mission.
Okay.
"I'm alright," Sherry answered, glancing over the group. It seemed like everyone was relatively okay. That was a relief, considering everything. Sherry really didn't like groups splitting up she decided. Which was why she very much liked Stormy's plan.
"Stay in the middle, run support," she repeated her orders, nodding. Yeah. She could do that.

Evan came to with a start and a sharply indrawn breath as Stormy touched his face. He experienced a brief flash of panic as he failed to recognize his surroundings and, more importantly, recall what the ******** had just happened.
/You got knocked out!/ Gir supplied with a giggle.
His lips pressed together in annoyance in response to Tuck's expression, but he accepted the hand up with a nod of thanks. How stupid, to get knocked out like a ******** boot; how was he supposed to protect Stormy if he couldn't even save himself?
The desire to protest against Stormy's choice of formation--to have her behind him, behind everyone--was strong. He had to remind himself that this was her mission, and that being in a leadership position would be good for her; maybe it would help her grow up, a little. "Yes, ma'am," he said instead, taking his position at her side.

Believe her, Tuck, she'd much rather just let you and Evan bust down whatever might be in the hallway first. But, Mist Mission! Their mission! The only reason Stormy was letting her bestie in the back at all was because Nevada had requested it in the beginning, and frankly they didn't have a lot of time to debate who went where.
Relieved everyone looked alright (or at least not worse for wear), Stormy nodded to them quickly and checked to make sure her headset was working. "Down to the right then," she told them, marching forward with the runic staff in hand. "Keep an eye out for any more . . . obstacles. Hopefully the alarm will mask our sounds. And we can just get in and get out."
She swore if something blinded and knocked them out again, she might actually curse.
"Someone remind me that we should talk to Mark about his pre-mission preparation later, too."

It would probably still hurt from their last incident, though perhaps greater than the sting of pain was that of shame. Occasionally there would be a shout, the flicker of light in their direction, but they were fortunately still unnoticed. It looked like if there was anything Mark was good for, it was a distraction.
The walls around the room were already blasted in, providing a large, crude hole. That was pretty much where the trail ended however, as the rest of the room was practically buried in debris. Several walls were in fact caved in, along with bits of the ceiling. Large piles of rubble on the ground, still surrounded by a light cloud of dust, light emitting underneath them suggested something was still inside. Underneath. An artifact maybe, but which pile?OOC UNCOVERING THE ARTIFACT:There are several large mounds of debris on the ground! Any one of them could hold the artifact! Simply roll 1d10 as you search around the debris! IF you roll a 10 you have found the artifact underneath, sealed in a glass case around 2x 2 feet in dimension! - BONUS: It is VERY DARK in here but it seems like the artifact Stormy was given (back, from Mark) emits a small glow of light. She can roll 1d6 to search around instead with the artifact instead of a 1d10. If she rolls a 6 she discovers it! Tl'dr you have unlimited rolls until you find it!

Nevada sighed as she made sure the group stayed together, keeping all of them wrapped up. Stormy's little staff kept the room lit with a dim light.
"And this is why Mark shouldn't be allowed for rescue missions." Nevada stared at the piles of debris, sighing loudly. She broke formation to look over one.
Little hands started to move loose formations of works and stuff, but nothing popped out at her.

"I'm starting to wonder about that, yeah . . ." And yet it still ached her to doubt a superior, unabashed bark-worse-than-bite guy or not. Just a sheepdog after all!
It was awfully dark in the room as they entered, putting her on high alert. "Keep your ears and eyes trained," Stormy told her group in a lower tone, the runic staff able to shine a light but not quite enough to illuminate more than a few steps ahead of them. She dallied and stretched it around, for a moment thinking she'd seen something--but the glint was gone beneath rubble when she doublechecked.

Thus began Stormy's woes because she was bad luck girl remember. Or in this case, "girl who has issues being a treasure hunter even with the shortcut device in her hands".
Maybe it was just . . . a really big room okay . . .

A really, really big room okay.
Luckily the third time was the charm, as the glint she thought she'd seen earlier was back in her field of vision. Led by the staff, Stormy snapped a few times to get her teammates' attention, sifting through the debris with her bare hand to uncover what looked like a decently sized case of glass--easily sticking out like a sore thumb among the rubble now.
"Here we are . . ." She dusted the container off gently before sitting it upright, trying to examine just what exactly Mark had sent them over to get.

The container was exactly that, a container, possibly made of hard plastic or wood. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like opening up any time soon, making the contents inside extremely hard to gauge.
The second problem was that Stormy also had no time to think any further as a voice suddenly screamed "RUN", and then Mark was back and behind him -
- A large army of glowing wavering lights that were actually flashlights that belonged to security guards.
"HEAD FOR THE EXIT!" he shouted helpfully, without actually revealing where the exit was. Thankfully it was pretty easy to follow Mark, and little less to avoid the security guards, and a second later there was something blue, glowing-
- And then they were on the other side. Home free.
The Death assistant breathed heavily and then sat down right on the grass of the training fields. "We- we did it!!" He would have done a victory dance if he wasn't so tired as he held up one hand into the air. "Well, do you have it?"

Nevada only had to see the flashlights to book it. She pushed Sherry, Tuck and Evan after Mark who had somehow sped past them and was disappearing into the sunset exit. b*****d-
And then they were home and she was breathing heavily.
"Do we have what Mark?" Nevada went over to the death assistant, pulling him up a little by the scruff of his jacket, "Do we have your precious artifact? Yes. Do we also all have this consitent need to punch you in the face?" She bent down even lower, "Next time you put Stormy or Sherry in trouble like that...I'll kill you."
She let him go, heading to the other mist.

Mark didn't have to say it twice; Stormy ran as fast as her legs could take her, no questions asked. No more random obstructions nearly knocking her into next Tuesday, thanks!
She ran a few feet past the portal before remembering to slow down, panting audibly as she wiped at her forehead. Nevada was passing what looked like a menacing threat, but she was a little too out of breath to really stop her from being mean when, hey, mission accomplished! She gave her Mist sister the motion for "one second" before waddling over to Mark, runic staff and glass container in hand. "Nice gadgets, by the way~ If you want people to test them, I like shiny things."
Both objects were offered up.
"Please be a little more careful next time, though? Things could've really gotten hairy in there with the alarm and all."
She was taking this remarkably well.
She probably got knocked out a little too hard.

Tuck honestly had no idea what was going on anymore. He was merely following after Nevada and Stormy as best he could, all the while keeping an eye on Evan and Sherry.
"What. The. ******** rubbed his eyes and fell silent before crossing his arms over his chest so that he could glare at Mark.
Like, really glare.
Angrily.
