Summer took a step back when Ariel banged against the glass. “Now now,” she murmured in her usual quiet tone, “don’t make such a ruckus.” She pursed her lips together as she silently watched the mermaid swim around a while more before disappearing to the surface. The handler hummed, but said nothing more. She turned to look at the guests, but stopped to tilt her head at Les and Mel as they talked about something. She didn’t know, but it looked serious.
She pursed her lips and casually ignored them for the time being. Putting on a smile, Summer turned toward the rest of the Unicorn group. “Is there anything in specific you’d like to know? Would you like to stay here a bit more or go to the surface? I imagine Ariel left to get fed and we can watch that.”

" Yeah usually the brighter colors are Poison." Steve said with a puzzled ton to his voice, "well at least with animals not sure about here." He looked to see what Bear was looking at on the beach, when he realized that there was a creature laid out on his stomach. "You think these creatures might have some of the same defensive things as animals?"

Poor Ariel was probably going to be sorely disappointed. Nadya had no intention of feeding the mermaid or anyone else, for that matter, any of the people that had come to visit.
Maybe.
...
Okay. So maybe the thought crossed her mind a time or two in moments of stress and anger but she never followed through! Nadya felt relief wash over her when Ariel reappeared on the surface and was followed by Bloodwater as well. The Handler looked from one to the other with a small smile as she knelt and gave the mermaid a light rub on the belly, a touch that didn't linger too long just in case. "Did you forget your fish from your last trick?" She offered the treat toward Ariel now and then looked over at Bloodwater.
"And you! You are being very friendly today." She said softly and then offered Bloodwater a fish of his own. The young woman seemed pleased by the pair. Safe to say she'd all but forgotten about the 'visitors' mostly because none of them had said anything to her specifically that she could recall...
Was there a question she missed?
...Needless to say human interaction apparently wasn't her strong suit.

Melanie's eyes zoned in on the offering, and she snatched it up in her greedy little hands, chomping down on it. She was about to take her second bite when Les called her on her comment, which, now that she knew the truth, sounded a lot more like a pick up line than she'd meant it to be. It was easier to admit how you felt when you were confident you had no chance - safer, somehow. Calling her on it made her blush as red as an apple, and her face pinched up in what could be considered a really bad attempt at anger. Or constipation. It was hard to say.
"Don't tease me like that. I didn't think-" She choked on her chocolate when his hand brushed against her hip, and swiveled around to watch him walk away, aghast in shock and confusion. Was he just mean enough to be toying with her, or was he actually, actually being serious?
Maybe it was past failures that made her doubt the possibility so much, but it still felt really unlikely that he was trying to flirt with her. Especially when working together made so much time pass where a man could have just walked up to a woman and said hey, let's go out. Or was that just something only kids did, anymore?
She was legitimately clueless about modern dating processes.
And really thirsty.
And a really shitty tour guide.
She finished off her chocolate, licked her fingers clean, and leaned on the glass while she watched Les do her job for her.
Abigail took great delight in watching the guests react to the residents. No one was shouting or anything! The creatures seemed to be handling the guests well, too, and really, that was the most important part. As long as the residents weren't eating the guests and the guests weren't screaming their heads off in fear and/or wonder and/or at the creatures in general, it absolutely counted as a success. "Okay, Gnome group, it's time to move along! Please make your final farewells to our residents and their handlers, and let's head back to the SUV!"

Questions answered, the lab tech was free to return his attention to Melanie, and he chuckled inwardly at the slightly puzzled expression she was wearing. He'd never considered himself a particularly subtle flirt, but maybe, just maybe, Mel was one of those people that needed a person's intentions laid out for them in bold, neon letters.
Not that there was anything wrong with that. It was never a bad thing to be sure of a situation before jumping to conclusions. As they'd so recently found out.
Dipping his hand back into his pocket he pulled out a crumpled dollar bill and held it out to her, grinning. "Grab us a drink, eh?" When she took the bill, he'd split the remainder of the chocolate into two, consuming his own stick in two quick bites, and held the other out so she could take it when she wanted it. "I wasn't teasing, by the way." His head tilted, hazel eyes searching her still flushed features.
Cora smiles as Tonio wraps his arms around her, giving her a hug. Turning into his arms, she returns the hug before looking up at him. With a small chuckle, she reaches up to poke him in the nose to let him know she didn't fault him. If she had a dragon chasing after her, she would have done the exact same thing. Only, she might have jumped into the water in the process.
Glancing towards Cordelia as she goes back tot he surface, she pulls away from Tonio before she chuckles at him "Are you okay?" she knew her friend well enough to know he was having a small panic attack on her, so she wanted to be sure he was fine before taking more pictures.
"Stay right here, I'll grab you a drink." glancing out towards the water, she turns and slips over to the register to grab herself and Tonio something to drink.

Hearing one of the guides call for a regroup in the car, Bear shook his head. He wished he could watch these creatures a bit longer. But they were going to a different place, which made him excited. He grinned at the mer-things and waved farewell. He wasn't sure they would understand, but they were too human-like not to do it, it was reflex. realizing what he had done Bear turned to Steve and Emilia hurriedly instead as he headed for the car. "Hey Steve, Emilia, what else do you think we may see? Or what do you wish we'll see?" he was kinda curious what mythical creatures his fellow gnomes wanted to see most.
Emilia smiled dazedly as she was currently captivated intensely by the mermaid. Her mouth let out a soft sigh and she drew without even looking at the paper. That is, until the Handler called her back up to surface and released her from her trance.
Emelia had actually been tranced once before by a hypnotist to find out where she locked her emotions to. When she rampaged out of her mind because of those emotions, they had to lock them back up.
Her head shook off that memory and then she looked down at the sketch book, gasping at the beautifully animated looking image. It was just as if the mermaid was mid air right in front of her. How strange, something so beautiful could bedrawn without looking.
This gave her a super idea.
How about sky mermaids? Skymaids. They dance in the sky above the people and create fantastic shows. That would be interesting right? It had to be.
Slowly she retreated back to the group looking embaressed by her sudden infatuation with the mermaid. "This place is wonderful. " She murmured to no one in particular. A question arose in her throat though. If there were Kelpietaurs and Mermaids, were there other wonderful creatures here too? Like River nymphs. However sit stuck in her throat as the guide began ushering them back to the SUV. It was too soon to be going back already.. Why couldn't they stay longer?
Agh, now she felt like a giant Kid. Her head shook to herself and she followed Abigail back the car without any objections. Just giving one final look to the two creatures they were able to see. Her smile was a bright one... and it turned brighter as she noticed a hair tie on the ground.
Instantly she tied that Afro of a hair back and hoped it wouldn't break... again.

Just as Steve was about to walk over to Ms. Utkin. He heard the voice of Ms. Matthews, saying that the group needed to. But he wanted his question answered. He grabbed his notebook and opened it back up to his notes he was taking earlier in the day where Fynn the Kelpietaur had managed to get a few drops of water on it. He was still in aww by all the creatures around them. He writes down a few questions so he would remember to ask someone later. Do these creatures have any defensive characteristics? Do they tolerate being in a semi-captive environment?
He looks around and waves to all the creatures and to Ms. Utkin, "Thanks for the experience today Ms. Utkin." He follows Bear back to the car.. " I don't know Bear but if this is the start of the creatures then how perfect would it be if we got to see what are group is named after." he gives a smile and laughs " we need to see gnomes." Exits to gnome car
More chocolate. She yoinked it, but there was a hesitance in her eyes, as she tried to figure out exactly what was going on. He read her hesitance, and his assurance just made her feel like an open book. A very embarrassed open book.
"Yeah. Well." She snatched the dollar away, gave him one final, penetrating glance, before swiveling off to buy them a drink.
Buy them a drink.
This was getting weird.
"Enjoying the trip so far?" She ended up behind the guest in line at the soda machine, and decided she would be a perfect distraction to getting her mind off of Les, and whether or not he meant anything he said. So she smirked genuinely at the woman, and leaned in, to whisper conspiratorially. "I don't know how you get anything done with a man like that at your arm. May I just say, well done." At least somebody knew how to actually handle men, around here.
Because Melanie sure as hell had no clue what she was doing anymore.

Bloodwater awkwardly pushed himself up and chewed on his fish happily. He wasn't poisonous it was just painful to lay on his back fin, with it shoving up into his spine and being crushed at the same time. His name had come from the fact that one of the keepers had mistaken his red fins for blood not to long after he was put into the exhibit. Although he wasn't poisonous and his long fins where somewhat fragile he was in no way defenseless.
He looked around as he finished his fish. Seeing one of the new people wave, something he had seen the staff do before he mimicked them and waved back. He was happy, Nadya seemed to like it when he hung around the others, they seemed safe enough. No fights had broken out yet, perhaps he should start being part of the little group a bit more.
If Cora could turn any redder, she would be the color of the highlights in her hair. Turning quickly, she looks at Mel as she shakes her head. "NoNoNoNoNoNoNoNo! Its not like that at all, I swear! Were just friends, have been since high school. He my best friend." she stammers over her words as she deny something between herself and Tonio.
Course then she knew the saying, he who denies too much....
Looking down, she keeps shaking her head as she gives a weak laugh "He more of a brother to me then anything. Promise you." though she always thought he was hot, but that was another story. One she wouldn't get into at this point, only because she didn't need to turn any redder.
Instead she quickly turns back on the camera and flips through the images until she finds the one she was looking for. With a smile she turns it to Mel to show her the picture she snapped of Les and herself "I wish this was my camera, cause I would fix it up, maybe make a couple black and whites, or even Sepia." she pauses then looks back to Mel.
"Won't lie though, its very hard to work when Tonio around sometimes. But you saw him without his shirt, so you know..." with a wink, she grabs to bottles of water and pays for them so she cane step aside and allow Mel to get what she needs.
Though she didn't walk away just yet..instead she waits for Mel.

Virtually unbreakable. Well, wasn't like he could really ask for more knowing current building materials. So, he would be satisfied for now with the information that the male guide had passed onto him (and mentally keep track of it since he still didn't have a damn pen). "Green," he still muttered in need to correct the man, even though he had walked away to continue attending to personal frivolous business. As so many of those in his company seemed to be more interested in. More interested in getting into each other's pants while their lives could be in danger. That boded well.
He also didn't like the talk about poison. He wasn't completely familiar with normal zoo protocol on such dangerous specimen, but knowing that these people allowed guests in harms' way with large 'creatures'... well, Adler just frowned and continued to look around with skeptical eyes.
Guest Name: Adler Green Guest Profession: Insurance Inspector Group: Unicorn Physical Description: A tall 6'5, thin, stern looking man of 42 who looks like he's never had fun in his life (because he hasn't). His hair is a sandy blonde and very nicely combed and well maintained, since he still has it and all, and his eyes are a very nice shade of green. Adler takes pride in his appearance, wearing very nice suits and very boring ties and socks to go along with his very well maintained shoes. About the only thing about him that could be interesting are his horn-rimmed glasses. Rarely smiles. Brief Character Profile: Let's get one thing straight, Adler didn't want to come to this place. He was assigned by his company to assets a future client, and given how he's a Director of Major Accounts that put him in prime position. Adler has no stitch of imagination and thinks all of this is asinine (maybe even part of him wants to prove it all fake). He has a stick up his a** (and looks it) and a rather cold demeanor. Mel was as good at reading into reactions with women, as she was with men. So when she saw Cora's disbelieving over-stressed denial, she actually just read it as denial, and left it at that. "You have.. some serious self-control." Mel murmured, whistling softly as she put the dollar bill in and keyed the numbers for a soda. "I'm not sure if I could have been best friends with something that delicious and not thrown myself at him a million times by now." She sounded truly impressed. She leaned in to pick up the soda, and then straightened up and twisted the cap open. What? Les wanted some? That was a shame.
"I guess you're a woman who knows what she wants." Mel grinned and brought the soda to her lips, holding it back one more second to finish her thought, before she took a swig. "I wish I was."
Leaning in to look at the picture, Mel's cheeks darkened with color again. Why were guests taking pictures of her and Les? Was this entire situation that obvious? She'd focused just a second too long on the picture, barely registering the fact that Cora had been talking about Antonion with his shirt off, again.
"Yeah, I can imagine." She muttered distractedly, still eyeing the pic.
"Okay." Snapping out of it, she pointed back towards the group. "We should go back up to the shore, guys. You can ask the aquatics handler questions, make the fish do tricks, that kind of thing. It's fun."
More fun than over-thinking something that made her insides squishy.
