Ami sighed and said, "Let's at least find a spot on the sand before you do." She looked out at her options. There was the sand, the rocks, the water and the tree. There were a few people out in the water, but nothing that would bother them. She couldn't even make out who they were.
She picked a spot a bit off to the side, her natural tendency to avoid attention kicking in. Sitting down on the towel, she removed her cardigan and (begrudgingly) her white shirt, revealing her hideously marred body. Against the sand, her poor pasty skin looked even pastier. She kept the shorts on for good measure, kicking off the sandles she'd brought.
Looking a bit flustered, she turned away from him and muttered, "Well?"

"Well, you're gorgeous." Lex started, kneeling down so he could start the application process. Broad dark hands began at her shoulders, spreading the lotion that was nearly as white as her skin across them, then rubbing up her neck and moving down to her shoulder blades, acting like the scars didn't exist. They were just a part of her body, after all, nothing to be wary of or ginger about. "You sure you don't want a bit of tanning oil, too?" He asked with a grin, moving to her lower back and working the last of the lotion in there. "Not that I think it'd make you any more beautiful."

"I think too much sun makes people stupid," she said, pushing the tiny bottle away. In the same motion, she reached around her neck to give Lex a small kiss on the cheek. A mischievous little smile creased her face as she teased, "So it's a good thing you're cute."
Leaning back on the towel, she asked, "Do you need help too, or were you just going to leave your back bare in the water?" Hands gestured him to move so she could repeat the motion for him.

Wrinkling his nose a little at Ami's teasing, Lex sad in the sand so she could apply the oil to him. It was true, he hadn't thought of himself - and a red back with a frontal tan would just look bad, and probably hurt a lot. Thank God for Ami and her steady head, not getting all excited because of some clear water and white sand. "Yeah...whoops." He rubbed the back of his neck, sighing as Ami started applying.
"I haven't been to a nice beach in so long...I feel like a little kid." He smiled, closing his eyes. Tahoe was nothing compared to this.

"You look like one too," she chided, rubbing the lotion into his skin, squeezing every once in a while when she felt a knot. Funny, she couldn't imagine Lex getting overworked about anything, yet the clear signs of stress were there. It seemed Deus life got to everyone.
She sighed into the back his neck, putting a tiny kiss on his shoulder before releasing him. "Go play," she murmured, reaching into the knapsack for her book. "I'll be here."

Lips twisting in a bit of a smarmy grin, Lex twisted around to kiss Ami on the cheek. "I'd rather be a kid than some old crow." He teased, jumping up suddenly and running to the water, jumping in with a big bellyflop. A sigh, and he was off swimming and splashing and just being a six foot four fiver year old.

It had been probably a good hour, which meant Ami was more than likely done, or at least mostly done, with her book. And that meant that Lex could have some more fun...
She'd feel a pair of hands grabbing her around the waist and slinging her over a broad shoulder, and hear a deep chuckle as her kidnapped ran toward the ocean with a glint of mischief in his eyes. Ami was going swimming, whether she liked it or not. "Better take your shorts off, love."

She was not an old crow.
Ami sighed and fell back onto her little towel, smiling lightly into the sun shining on her body. Admittedly, even she adored this weather. A content sigh escaped her as she closed her eyes. Somewhere in the back of her mind she could hear Lex splashing around in the water. That big baby. Well, her big baby.

It came out of nowhere. One moment she was enjoying classic literature, the next she was being picked up by the big oaf. Oh, she squealed and whacked his stupid body, but there was only so much she could do. A few errant whines like, "Lex put me down this instant!" and she was grumpily crossing her arms at him.
"You can't make me," Yes, even Ami could be a five year old.

Chuckling as she fidgeted, Lex kept a tight hold of the little woman as he walked deeper into the water, grinning with the mischief of a man and a boy. "Oh? I'm sure you don't want to get your only pair of shorts soaked with salt water." He dropped her for a moment, catching her before she hit the water. Oh yes, he was enjoying himself. "And you know I can make you take your shorts off, love."

There was a very fundamental difference that Lex seemed to have not realized yet. Lex was a dog. Ami, was a cat.
A cat that very much did not like the water until she was actually put into it and then it was sort of okay but still not really. So Lex dangling her above the water was very much not welcome and warranted screams and protests that he probably wanted to hear anyways.
"Fine! Fine! You win! Stop dangling me oh my god," was her screech, only amplified by his sexual innuendo in such crude publicness. "Take them, just take them," she cried, flinging the shorts off in a matter of moments. "Go put them on the towel," she ordered, not meeting his eyes.
Then she just sort of sunk under the water until only her eyes and above were remaining. She was not ready for this kind of thing quite yet. So for now she'd just seethe.

Lex, like an obedient but playful great dane, smiled and nodded at his feline companion, taking the discarded shorts off to the towel with a spring of victory in his step. Seriously, who even came to the beach without getting in the water? Lame people, that was who. The excitement of being with Ami, along with finally getting to go to a legitimate beach, had melted his cool and charming playboy wall. He was going to be a kid today, and tomorrow he'd go back to what everyone was used to at Deus.
Folding the bottoms neatly (Ami would hopefully appreciate that he didn't just let them get wrinkled) and setting them atop her cardigan, the great dane of a man came bounding back to Ami, big grin plastering his face. For a calm moment, she might have even believed that Lex's mischievous muse had settled. Then the splashing started.

Ami watched him come running back, even giggling a bit at his dopeish behavior. Part of her was worried that her nail polish was being ruined, another part thinking about how her hair was going to be a tangled mess after this, completely unkempt and impossible to sort through.
Yet the biggest part focused on Lex's big dopey smile, and the fact that he was there with her at all. For a moment she was almost glad she'd found her way to Deus Ex.
Midway through tying up her hair into a bun (so as to prevent as many tangles as she could) the big idiot came and tried to start a splash war. Bobbing in sync with the water, Ami's annoyance only rose with each tease. The sopping wet cat glared at Lex with the intensity only Ami could provide.
"I'm going back," Ami declared, marching (as well as she could in water up to her waist) towards the sandy shoreline. Poor Lex was being abandoned.

"Spoilsport." Lex chuckled, splashing some water on her retreating back. He was actually pretty much done too - you could only have so much fun by yourself in the ocean. Following her with his grin and confidence, he wrapped an arm around her shoulder as soon as he'd caught up. "You really thought you were going to come to a beach without getting wet, Ami? Come on now..."
The tall man pulled his towel out and laid it out, flopping down on his side to view the beautiful, if a little grumpy, lover. "It'd be great if we could just stay here for a whole week or so. Though, you'd probably run out of reading material."

Ami might have splashed him for the comment about being a spoilsport.
If she was mad, it didn't show. Her arm went around his waist as they walked, and she hid a laugh in his side. "Maybe we can go back in later. We have the whole day after all." Though truth be told, they would probably be here until it was dark. They could stay here even if it was dark after all. They probably couldn't go in the water, but you didn't need light to sit on the sand.
While he unfolded his own towel, she took to lying on her stomach, head buried in her arms. Her eyes were closed in an almost dreamy way as she took in the sun. "Why you don't just give up is beyond me," Ami mumbled, putting together a small pile of sand with her hands. "I'd grow very tired of being with me after a day let alone a week."

"Well, it's a good thing I'm not you, then." Lex smiled, rolling onto his back and splaying himself spread eagle. He missed the sun, harsh and unforgiving as it could be. He tanned well, eliminating that concern, and he couldn't quite get his endorphin from chocolate. "And I don't quite understand how you put up with me, to be honest."
A small pause, and Lex suddenly sat up blinking furiously. Hadn't...? Yeah, he had... "I think Otto told me he was taking Eva to the beach sometime soon...I'd suggested the Caribbean."

"It is quite the ordeal," Ami jabbed, whisper of a smile on her face. "You're so very high maintenance with all your demands like let me buy you food and drop the towel! Plus having to wake up every day next to your scruffy maw- intolerable!"
Seeing as Lex was spread out next to her, Ami's foot might've been slowly snaking over his in a silly game of childish footsy. "Yes soon all the hunters will know of your abuse. They shall whisper about the apeish brute holding the tiny girl captive. Perhaps one will be so bold as to save me from your tyrannical grasp."
Her soliloquoy was abruptly interrupted by Lex sitting up and babbling something about Otto and Eva. "There are hundreds of beaches. I'm sure they didn't come to this one. Not to mention they probably didn't take today off."
