Even though the voice had talked to him, Marosa found that he really didn't care what it had to say. He couldn't help but wonder if it lied, or if had always been lying.

Pausing just at the final step, she frowns as the voice decide to play inside her head again. Only, did it actually sound annoyed that she got this far? " All I ever wanted was to find the True King, and get, the others still stand in my way. I have given them no harm, no trouble, I have waited this long, and my prize is to be betrayed by everything I embrace, again." All she wanted to shout at it was "YEA WELL WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU DID TO US!" sadly enough, she couldn't. After all, what was the point if she couldn't hear it herself? ... but didn't that mean that since they were straying from the path given to them, that they were more than fragments?
They had feelings, and Marosa knew that well.
He couldn't help but turn a shade of crimson at one particular thought.
The Voice spoke again, and Marosa jerked as he reached past the 100th stair, eyes widening.

Betrayal? Marosa had never known betrayal, but didn't the Voice, in a sense, betray them first by lying?

One after another, Xiu made her way up the stairs, her mouth set in a grim, determined line. No matter how many stairs there were, and no matter what potential hardships up ahead, she was completely determined to get up there. There was no time to waste, and if the Voice was really at the very top...

At the very least, climbing all of these stairs gave her time to reflect on what happened. Reflections, fakes...perhaps they had been born with no other purpose than fulfilling their roles in this little plot, but she liked to believe that the bonds that they had created were real. Like her encounter with Rosy on the bottom floor...she hadn't known the other girl before the collapse of the Silver Kingdom. And Xiu laughed bitterly, though it was soundless. No harm? You put us to war. You made us fight and kill one another. Although we are fragments, we still feel love, pain, suffering. And what of the the ones whose memories we are born from? Have you not harmed them?
With a disgusted shake of her head, she continued onwards.
