Amarus' attention had shifted rapidly from We should help clean and she was now far more interested in destroying things worse than they already were. Sensing the shift within herself she admitted, "I don't think I'm the best Shadow for this task. Maybe the shades should get it, so we don't... waste valuable time before we leave. Yes, that."
"I have a sharp-toothed Shade hiding in my pants, and if you try to approach me from the rear it will latch on. With its teeth. All of its teeth at once," Judgement promised Justice.
Judgement watched Justice pick up a breastplate, and realized how vastly mundane the activity was. She felt suddenly very sleepy. Amarus pushed aside a pile of weaponry and armor and made her way to the wall beside the door, leaning against it. "Hermit, we are Judgement and Justice-- hardly anything to break your vow of, well, isolation. After all, we are but concepts, nothing ... solid," she suggested, playing on words. The information that the Hermit knew was probably of use to them, besides; hardly useful if he wasn't there to tell them.
"But if it is too much, perhaps we will merely keep an eye on you occasionally. Hey," at first she addressed Merope again, but halfway through got distracted and picked up a round shield: she whipped the shield at Justice's head. "Think fast!"
No, she was not helping.

Amrita, The Moon, was speechless as her card twisted and formed a specific shape. A designation, a title...not just any title, either. Eldritch Adviser. It was an honor she wasn't expecting to see, and the Shadow found herself unable to stand or think anything more than shock. The others had taken to milling about, and yet she couldn't bring herself to move, at least not yet.
Thankfully, Mari snapped her out of her reverie. The Moon had never been one to turn down a visit from a friend or an acquaintance, and her new found rank wasn't about to change it. As Mari draped over her, the half-veiled shadow turned her head, the corners of her glowing, jagged yellow mouth turning into an amused sort of smile.
"Mari~" Was her greeting, briefly snaking a clawed hand around the other Shadow's back in lieu of a hug. "Thank you! I'm still so speechless..." She couldn't bring the words forth, to show how much it meant or how eager she was to prove herself worthy of such an honor. "I can count on you in the coming days, I trust?" As far as she was concerned, Mari was an ally; she had no reason to mistrust either of the Lovers in the past, and refused to succumb to her card's affinity for doubt. Wrongdoers would be punished as quickly as the enemy, after all.

"Think fast!"The whizz of the shield was enough to warn Justice of the impending contact from a blunt object aimed for the back of his head. Dropping to a knee, he threw the breastplate up over his head, letting it take the brunt of the attack. The concussive force followed through the breastplate, causing the protective piece to bounce off the back of his head, eliciting a small grunt from the shadow. Standing up, he turned and flung the breastplate at Amarus in reply. "Hah! A fight is it?" He asked, his right hand shaking just enough to loosen some of his chain and get it spinning, "Shall we?"He let his eyes slide toward The Hermit for a moment. "Merope, shall we teach our friend Judgement here a lesson?"Because two on one was always fun. And it would give him a good chance to gauge The Hermit's combat prowess... or lack thereof.

Maple blinked for a moment, pushing her lips tightly before she answered again. She wasn't sure if this was going well, it was so hard to tell when no one else was around to tell her otherwise; the others could still probably do it better than she could. But, they were kind of getting somewhere. At least into a system, one she wasn't sure she liked. It seemed like it was too much on his terms and she kind of wanted the upper hand.
"I-I don't know what you mean by 'everyone.'" She confessed in frustration, that was not a clear question. "T-there are Shadows," she gestured to herself, "and there are Shades," the petite girl turned her head, hoping for some to be milling around. And with luck, there were a few heading to whatever work they were set for today. She raised a black hand and pointed to them, hoping it would make sense without having to explain much else.
Maple turned her red gaze back upon him. "I-if you really wish to speak to him, I-I will take you t-to see him." How far he would get, she wasn't sure.

[[OOC: Proxy- posting for Huni ]] Tess let out a giddy squeal of glee, her arms purposely opening to embrace Canon in congratulations. "I have an idea of what We will need, and knowing Mari, She'll make do with whatever I bring with Us. I feel much more at ease knowing you're a Paladin, the King truly makes wise decisions."
Her arm shifted to link with the Sun's, "Shall we chase after the others? We wouldn't want them to pick the supplies clean." The winged Shadow nodded in response, nuzzling against the Moon's cheek in affirmation, "I know that question is rhetorical but I do so enjoy answering this way~" she giggled, glad that Amrita had always indulged her in these little display of affection. She and Tess were the Lovers, she could not help but act in accordance to her card. "You know you will have Tess and Myself do as you command, partly from Proxy of the King and mostly because you're Rita~ As such, what shall be your first Advisory?" she teased.

She was content with what she had been given. To be a Dark Herald, to be part of the army, to prove herself through her own mettle and not based on words alone. Marzena was never an eloquent speaker and she preferred to keep it that way.
They all played a part in the coming battle. It was only by standing together could they eventually prevail.
She lingered around the Tower, mostly observing, never speaking. That was until she was eventually spoken to, by one she recognized having been called by the king. "That it is." She agreed with a brisk nod. "I'll be ready when the battle comes." Justice had easily taken in the facts and accepted them, for this was what Fate had in store for them. "You are the Hierophant, the Dread Cleric, are you not? I wish you luck in the coming battle."Quote: Marzena, of the Justice Arcana, is a stoic Shadow with an air of mystery about her. It is rumored that she has a bestial form but it is hardly ever seen and most certainly is not seen in her chosen battle attack. While her hair has a dark blue accent to it, she is dressed mostly in dark, grim colors, reflecting her personality. Despite this, Justice can be compassionate and the strongest ally when the time calls for it. Fiercely dedicated to those she chooses to protect, it would be wise to cross her.

Merope stared at Amarus' pants. They were a far cry from the junk that was in his trunks. Did she seriously have a Shade in there? Was it comfortable? He filed the thought away for later to consider and entertain, though he suspected if he got his hands on a serpent Shade and stuck it in his trousers he would be thrown in the dungeons without a second thought. Perhaps it would be better to think carefully on later. "Aren't we all concepts?" He countered, pulling out his deck of tarot cards and withdrawing the one that bore his same Name. He waggled it at her. "Are we the ones that make the cards, or are the cards the ones that make us? We at least ca-" Merope broke his words off with a yelp as he abandoned his cards, diving for the floor as the shield was thrown towards Justice. It wasn't until he heard the resounding clang! as the shield bounced off the armor that the Hermit stood up and scrambled forward, snatching his cards up again. He stopped when addressed. "T-teach her a lesson? As in...?" He trailed off, looking at her. Then glancing at the mess. "I... ah, perhaps later. I am rather out of touch, you see, and perhaps it might be in my best interest to start putting some order to this before his Royal Majesty finds out and, I dunno, decides to reName me something along the lines of The Hanged Man." Quote: Name: Merope Major Arcana: The Hermit Rank: Dark Herald (Pawn) Current Location: Black Tower - Currently gathering supplies Description: A Shadow with defining, illuminated teal-blue lines. Much of him is hidden beneath a simple hooded robe. His beastial form is much like his true undead sea serpent form. While as a humanoid Shadow, Merope wields a staff with his draconic form's characteristics complete with a lantern hanging from its mouth.

For a moment, it seemed like the girl's 'eyes' blinked, disappearing briefly before appearing again. So it would seem that the red accented her body to give her some form of shape for others to recognize and comprehend. So it would appear that way for everyone else in this kingdom then. Looking at the 'shades' that milled around beyond her, it seemed like the kingdom was slowly coming to life now. Shades appeared in all different shapes, many of which he did not feel too comfortable about. It would appear the system of interrogation-communication was working out just fine and the information he was gathering was... good, to say the least. However, there was no following question, simply the statement. Well, it would appear that was all he had to go here, he couldn't exactly go back to Silver and he honestly did not know how to get to any of the other kingdoms. For now, it would seem, that he was stuck. Best make the better of what he can. While he can. Shifting the pack from one shoulder to the good arm, he chuffed and avoided eye contact. "Fine." Taking a step forward, indicating his intent to follow... at a distance.

"I am," The Hierophant smiled once more, her face cracking eerily. It was good to be recognized. "And you are a Dark Herald." There was no dismissive contempt there, only stated fact. Each role had their part to play. If anything, The Hierophant was made all the more vulnerable by being granted such a gift, and she considered each Shadow that stood and fight to be worthy of some respect.
She did not know Marzena personally, but that could be said of almost all the gathered Shadows. Nevena's business forced others to come to her, instead of the other way around.
"We will all need a bit of luck, I am thinking. Our enemies should not be underestimated." People were going to die, no matter how well they were lead. Such was the nature of war. "Do you fear death?"Melodine Cantus I suck and need to sleep but I will reply ASAP tomorrow!

Amarus smiled as Justice used a breastplate to deflect the whipped shield. She nodded in appreciation and then watched him loosen his chain, loosening her own chain in turn. "Oh, we shall," she agreed, at first. Suddenly, looking back and forth between Merope and Justice and the breastplate she had a thought.
As poetic as Merope's speech may or may not have been, Amarus was entirely too busy thinking about this new exciting idea, and also combat. Both things at once, really. "Oh, Hermit... I have the perfect compromise! Let us prove our combat prowess... in a game."
Amarus stooped down and collected a breastplate from the piles. A very lovely, smooth one. "I'll race you there! And then I'll explain! Grab something metal. And ride-able," Amarus said, racing out of the room.

Justice was intrigued at Amarus' sudden flight of fancy that he wasted no time on grabbing a tower shield about his height and ran after her with it, keeping the pace with her - it wasn't like she was trying to get away from him, so it wouldn't take long for him to keep up.
The tower shield was a bit on the bulky side though, but it was nice and flat on the front with curved sides, so it would perfectly work as a board or a sled.
If it was anything like Judgement's usual ideas - it was going to be unorthodox.
And fun as all get out.

"Yes! It sounds like the others are having fun in there! I think that's the third loud clang I've heard in five minutes!" she replied, walking towards the Supply Room with a gait that kept wanting to turn into a skip. "I hope we're not missing a sparring match!" They arrived to see that Judgement and Justice had been at it with a shield and a now somewhat dented breastplate. Sun smiled delightedly at the trio, having caught the last bit of what Amarus had said. Curiosity piqued, she dropped Tess's arm to dart into the Armory and grab a large shield. "Wait for me!" she called after the two Shadows, lifting the shield above her head and hurrying to catch up. She called back over her shoulder to Tess, as well. "I'll meet you back here!"

Strength accepted her card and stared at it slightly disheartened. But it was as the king wanted, so she would obey. She would just have to fight harder to prove her skill and worth. She would put aside her own feelings on the matter, focusing on the most important task in front of her. It would be up to her and her comrades to protect their home and show the others that they were the one true kingdom.
With a deep breath she settled her resolve, and looked around the dark room. She noticed a fair number of others moving to a different area, perhaps they were training? Or strategising? It really wouldn't hurt if it was either, so why not investigate?
moving to: supply room?

[[ In the Tower, Stair Racing ]]
As soon as Amarus made it to the head of the stairs leading down to lower floors of the tower, she stopped and eyed them. With a sense of both excitement and dread, she set the breastplate down, and got on top of it, crouched low, bracing one hand against its metal.
"Alright! Here's the game--" She paused only briefly, having thought she spotted Whisper while looking back over her shoulder. "Oh, Strength! Grab a shield and come train for battle!" Amarus suggested, waving her over before returning to her directions.
"So ... we're going to sled down the stairs. On our shields. Or armor. It will test endurance! Speed! Balance! Reflexes! Everything needed for battle," she justified. Plus it was just wicked awesome. "So... let's go!"
With that, she pushed off down the stairs! Not only did she whip down the entire flight, she did so effectively, without smashing any bits in! Hooray for her. She didn't exactly throw any improvised tricks in, but she did do well.
--
[[OOC: To play with us, roll 2d10! The first of the d10 indicates how quickly you get down the stairs; a 1 is basically you were screaming crying and holding onto each step on the way down or something; a 10 is WOW FANTASTIC Did you even stop at all you probably had to bail from your vessel at the last second rather than smash into a wall.
The 2nd D10 indicates how well you got down the stairs! A 1, for example, means you basically started rolling down them and smacking into them. A 10 is so amazing you've even got style points! Who knew you could do midair tricks on a shield?]]

His one word response and sudden movement caught Maple in surprise. It wasn't like they had gone back and forth for that long, but the ... strange guy seemed so demanding of answers and making orders that, well, she didn't expect it.
And she still wasn't exactly sure if offering to take him to the tower was the best of ideas. Would the King be mad at her for bringing in an outsider even though he offered himself? Or was... this actually a good thing? Too many good things happening to her didn't seem that thrilling, in fact it seemed a little unwanted. Maple could only imagine what horrible fate awaited her for such goof fortune upon her.
Now she wasn't sure she wanted him to tag along. But she had said she would, and after a moment of contemplating, she told him in a defeated tone, "f-follow me then."
She made a half turn and began walking towards the general direction of the tower, not even turning to make sure he was following - it would be his own damn fault anyways. Maple navigated with ease towards her destination, until it came closer and grew larger into view. The Tower. The place of the ShadowKing.
Though, there was a very odd.. sound coming from the stairs when she went through the Main Entrance.
