Freya slowly floated back to the ground, taking a few steps before meeting back up with Kettil. She had been stunned to the ground by the sweetness of his words, and the adoration on her face was hard to miss. She leaned in and brushed her forehead against Kettil's, her eyelids fluttering for a moment before she hefted the ghoul in her arms again and took a deep breath.

"All right, Hooter. Yeh wins this round. Let's get home, I wants teh sees the rest of yehr family."

She looked a little drunk off his love.

He'd come to a standstill when she suddenly come back toward him and he smiled a bit as he leaned and snuck a small quick kiss. Fox made a small comical face at this show affection between them, "Cooties~," she giggled softly as the Valkyrie got a better hold on her.

Kettil reached and ruffled the mass of hair on Fox's head and laughed, "Ya, ya. Let's get home."

The scenery around them changed gradually small scattering of trees here and there to numerous larger trees soon surrounding them. Soon there were platforms in the trees and what appeared to be homes built into trunks of some of the larger trees themselves. The trees, despite all being carved into and made homes out of, were all alive. There were people meandering about and the sounds of owl here and there. The atmosphere was energized but friendly enough.

"What ya think so far?" Kettil asked curiously.

Freya went from being pleasantly happy and floaty around Kettil and his sister, to being absolutely awed by her surroundings. In the end, when he finally asked her for her opinion, Freya didn't know if she could adequately put into words how beautiful it all was. All she could say was..

"Wow."

Breathy, and lingering, that single word expressed Freya's astonishment at just how utterly beautiful she thought Kettil's hometown really was.

Kettil's face pulled into a grin, "Glad you approve."

He loved his home and his pride for it was really rather obvious. It took him a couple of moments to pick a pathway that lead to his home. It was hard to blame him for his disorientation; he'd been away for far too long.

Fox smiled happily, "Sometimes I like to jump from higher platforms, but Mama says I shouldn't cause I could break a leg. Tch."

Freya's heart started to beat in a quickened, almost painfully fast rhythm. It was a mixture of excitement and all out fear, masked evenly by just how enraptured she was at her surroundings. She followed the sound of his voice, failing to watch where she was walking, and kept a tight hold of the ghoul in her arms. The little voice captured her attention for a moment, and she looked down, blinking the reverie out of her eyes before giving Fox a cheeky smile. "Yeh has teh be careful. But I likes yehr sense of adventure. Just make sure yeh knows where yehr goings teh land." Landing on someone else would be a little disastrous.

Freya unraveled one hand from her hold on Fox, and gently set the ghoul down. Her hand then reached for Kettil's blindly, desperate to hold it as she stared up at the scenery once more.

"I had no idea yeh lived in such a wonderland." She murmured quietly. Her home was all plains and snow and flat. Beautiful in its own way, but nothing as breathtaking as what he was showing her at this moment.

Fox smiled contently and nodded, "'M careful," she assured. She knew how to land and how high she could jump from before it started impacting her in unfavorable ways. Perhaps when she got bigger she could pull off greater heights but for now, it was good.

Kettil's hand grasped Freya's hand, and once Fox was on the ground she was running forward, "I'mma tell them you're gonna be here soon!" She giggled and waved to them.

He looked over at her with an eyebrow raised, "Y'ready?"

As soon as Fox was out of sight, Freya turned to look at Kettil, leaning heavily against him. Her head fell on his shoulder, and she stared up at him with wide eyes.

"I actually don't know." She whispered. She didn't even know why this moment frightened her so much. She was so excited to meet them all, but at the same time..

She bent her head up, her eyes checking him carefully before her lips met his. Just one kiss, for strength.

When she pulled away, she sucked in a deep breath. "I love you." She informed him, because she felt it was important he knew that before they entered his home. Her hand reached up and she ran her thumb across his cheek. "Okays."

He'd actually stood still and let her take a few moments to get her bravery up, smiling a little when she admitted her uncertainty. Kettil leaned and kissed her in return, "I love you, too. Nothin' can take that away from us."

After all he was confident they would all accept her as their own.

He reveled in her touch a moment. Then with a light squeeze of her hand he led the way forward toward a large old tree with a rather lovely carved door leading the way in at the base of a trunk. He set the luggage down so he could open the door to allow them in. Once inside they were met with a thankfully small crowd.

Fox stood next to another young ghoul, her arms waving excitedly as she told what had happened. Nearby stood tall statuesque looking woman with dark blue hair that looked almost black, her arms were crossed over her chest as her expression was pulled into smile of amusement. Here and there within the home, on perches, were owls of all sorts and ages.

"We're here!" Kettil announced loudly.

The woman and two scarelings looked over toward the entering pair. The woman moved first embracing first her son, and Kettil returned the embrace along with a kiss to his mother's cheek. Then she turned toward Freya her arms open to her, the woman's dark brown eyes questioning if the Valkyrie would welcome the approach, "Welcome to our home, Freya. My name is Liseli. I see you met little Fox already."

He lived inside of a tree. This was so cool.

Walking into the warm little home felt like a dream. Freya's eyes strayed up, catching sight of all the little owls, and her hands clasped in front of her, enraptured. Her breath left her in a soft gasp. Just. Owls. Everywhere. She didn't know where to look.

Then, the woman hugging Kettil had her attention, and Freya stared just a little, soaking her in. Kettil's mom. The woman responsible for Kettil entirely. The reason Kettil existed. Her arms opened for Freya, and the ghoul felt like a child, flinging herself into the woman's embrace.

"MAMA."

Yeah. That just happened.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 13, 2013 2:05 pm

There was a soft sound of surprise but not in reaction to Freya flinging herself at her for the hug but at being called 'Mama'. Liseli's arms wrapped around the ghoul easily and warmly for a brief but still affectionate hug, then she lifted her hands to brush some errant hair from the young ghouls face. Liseli was smiling and chuckling quietly, "If that is what you wish to call me? Then that is more than fine," she said softly. As long as this ghoul made her son happy then it was perfect.

Meanwhile the two young ghouls were watching the whole thing and then eventually Fox pushed the other ghoul forward, "Gosayhi."

The pushed ghoul let out a grunt and glared at her younger sibling as she stumbled forward, "I was going to do that when Ma was done!" She hissed back at Fox and then she paused a few feet away. "Hi. I'm River, pleased t'meet you. Uumm...." River held up a bunch of small flowers that she had hurriedly picked from the garden moments before. "Theseareforyou."

For now Kettil just watched with amusement.

Freya bent her head back and smiled her most brilliant, thousand watted smile at the woman, before climbing out of her arms. She felt a tinge of guilt for her over-exhuberance, but she owed this particular woman every ounce of her happiness in life. So she was pretty damn important.

When another young ghoul came up to her, Freya gave her all of her attention. She held out flowers, and Freya took them, holding them close to her heart. But her attention was focused on the face of the young ghoul, once more finding all of the family resemblances in their face. Beautiful little ghouls with Kettils eyes, or his cheekbones, or his nose. The sight of them warmed her heart.

"Thank yeh very much, River. Is wonderful teh meet yeh. All of yeh! I'm, uh, Freya." She bowed deeply. "Thanks yeh for lettings me into yehr home!"

If Liseli minded the exuberance it didn't seem to show and if anything she was simply amused. She was a woman that was far too used to such behaviors for one reason or another. She watched as Freya interacted with her oldest daughter.

River smiled happily at Freya as her gift was accepted and the shyness she displayed seemed to lift away from her. The scareling had brown eyes and lighter blue-black hair, and seemed rather slender in build where as Fox had a bit more 'weight' to her build despite being younger.

"It was a pleasure to meet you, I hope you enjoy your stay with us," Liseli said as she smiled toward Freya.

Fox and River let out a small giggle before the pair scattered off to do something else - probably to play. Liseli shook her head a bit, "Go ahead and get settled in you two, I have to go help Nana cook our meal tonight," and off she walked toward the other part of the home.

"Alright, Mom," he said cheerfully, probably just happy nothing terrible happened...yet. Kettil indicated a nearby set of stairs after he resituated his hold on the luggage and started to lead the way up them. At the top stood a tall figure with broad shoulders - he was watching them but mostly his eyes were on Freya with a rather interested gaze.

Everything seemed to happen in a rush. The ghouls scattered and Kettil's mother sent them off to settle in, leaving Freya to stumble forward without enough time to offer to help cook. She didn't actually know how to cook.. but with 9 ghouls in one house, her mother had always put them to work. It was too late however, so instead she just called out as loud as she could- "IF YEH NEEDS HELP I'M HAPPY TEH!"

Still, settling in sounded nice. Plus, the best part of the trip was yet to come - she couldn't wait to see Kettil's room. Where he'd grown up, and spent his time, and all the little things that made it his home. So she turned and scrambled to catch up with him, nearly bumping into his back on the stairs as she walked too fast. She grabbed hold of the back of his vest to keep from falling backwards, and moved at his pace, while her gaze wandered everywhere to enjoy every bit of scenery. She looked for pictures, knick knacks, anything and everything.

The figure at the top of the stairs didn't register until they were almost there, and by then, she was already too entranced with interest to be surprised.

Freya received a response from Liseli as she left the room, "Feel free to come by the kitchen when you're ready to help~. We'll likely be in there a while."

"...Move Onyx, I thought you'd be ... Off somewhere else," Kettil said with an eyebrow raised. He didn't really like the way his brother was staring at his ghoulfriend. Like she was some sort of piece of meat or something.

The youth Kettil addressed only responded with a short laugh, "Oh? I'm home on break, like you," he said idly as he stood up straighter and moved off to the side, "Maybe your pretty little ghoulfriend would be interested in a tour with me later."

Kettil narrowed his eyes a bit, "I doubt it."

The name snapped her out of her reverie. So this was Onyx. The first memory she had of the brother was that day, long ago, when he'd sneaked onto Kettil's computer and sent her IMs about her rack, among other things. Her expression turned wry, and Freya made an exaggerated show of wrapping her arms very slowly around Kettil's shoulders, while her chin settled possessively into the nook of his neck.

"Onyx." She greeted him, her voice wry and just a little amused. "I've heard a lot about yeh. All good things, really. Unfortunately, I've got plans with Kettil - plans that involve every, single, second of my time." She wasn't being very subtle about it. She knew boils like Onyx better than she knew herself. She'd dealt with them all her life, and she wasn't insulted or even bothered by them. She was making sure he understood just how much of a claim Kettil had on her. All of her.

Her eyes remained focused on the boil, even as she kissed Kettil's cheek. "Sorry teh disappoint."
