"If I'm not back up front in an hour, come rescue me," Jordan said, laughing. "I have some serious book shopping to do." He headed for the fiction section.

"If you're going to be an hour, I'll be in the music shop, ahahaha. You have twenty minutes for my attention span," He grinned, and made his way to the front to see if the check-out would let a poor crippled man set his shopping bags down while he browsed.

Jordan managed twenty-five minutes, coming back with a large stack of books and a satisfied grin on his face. He paid for the books without complaint at the price, then looked around for Jerry to see if his friend had made good on the threat to leave for the music store.

Jerry had wandered through the book store, debating his options. He thought about getting one of those lovely ornately bound journals for Sasha.... but quickly thought better about it and wandered off.
He spent a short while in the self-help section, but finally caved with frustration. He didn't need self-help books. He needed... he needed... to go next door to the music shop. He couldn't find Jordan, but he assumed the guy would track him down easily enough, collected his shopping bags and then slipped out.
By the time Jordan might have found him, he had been given a chair in one of the small offshoot rooms where you were welcome to test out instruments without making too much noise.

Jordan located Jerry easily enough with a quiet inquiry to the person behind the counter. He slipped into the room and leaned against the wall, making a hand motion to indicate that Jerry should finish playing rather than stopping immediately to talk to him.

Jerry glanced up, smiling as he spotted he wasn't alone any more, "I love the mandolin, I haven't played in years now I'm so rusty it's ridiculous, ahahahaha. But it's such a cheery instrument, don't you think?" He gave another few experimental chords and plucking, "Get everything you needed?"

"I think so." Jordan held up the sizeable bag of books. "I might have missed a few. Sounds good anyway," he added. "Did you find what you were looking for?"

"h uh... no I um. Got sidetracked... ahaha... um." He glanced to the line of instruments, tin-backed ukuleles, a few different types of guitar, and more all lined up where he had left them after giving them a go. "Right! Bongos and sheet music, right." He cleared his throat, looking over the mandolin once more before carefully setting it back on the stand for whoever was unfortunate enough to clean up after him. "Got to stay on budget if I want some new stuff for my apartment."

"Hey, I stayed on track at the bookstore," Jordan mock-scolded. "Go get what you came in here for, man."

"I want just... everything in here ahahah. I suppose I could get a new capo or two." He eased himself up off of the stool, giving the instrument a good pat goodbye and completely ignored the price tag as he moved his way toward the percussion section, "I promised Otto I'd get him a bongo. I hope it encourages him to keep coming to our band meetings. I think they've been good for me."

"I think so too." Jordan hung back a moment to take a quick look at the price tag, then followed. "Otto's a percussionist, huh?"

"Yeah! He and I jam sometimes! Molly too- she plays violin. There's a lot of musicians on the island, and with all the newer trainees around I should call another meeting. I've been meaning to but.... We've been busy." He grunted when it turned out the drums were kept upstairs. Onward. For the sake of bribery.

"Yeah, that's for sure." Jordan hesitated. "Do you need a hand with the stairs?"

"I.. I got it," Jerry flushed, "I'm just slow. Um. Ahaha I just need a few things I swear I'll try not to get distracted again," He smiled as he eased his way up.

"Okay. It's fine - I'm just going to go get one of my errands done real quick," Jordan said, and hoped he wasn't blushing. Well, if he was, it was cold out. "I'll catch up with you back here?"
