Sabitsuki held Katrina's hand firmly as they walked, returning to the portal that would lead to their mutual home. In her heart, she couldn't help but wonder if her visit had done any good. She may have very well saved Mara's Shrine from suffering defilement by way of a wayward Oni's death, but it was also possible that she was the very reason that Oni had become so easily enraged.
Spending time among the humans in her younger years, Sabitsuki once learned of a saying that she had never quite understood; "No good deed goes unpunished." Somehow, the Mirror Youkai believed she now understood what the humans meant by these otherwise conflicting words.
But even as these thoughts arose in her mind, Sabitsuki's unwavering resolve remained true. She could only do what she thought was best. Coming to apologize for her sister's actions once felt like the right choice, and now, holding onto the Demoness' hand felt just as right, if not better. The humility Katrina showed this day reminded Sabitsuki exactly why she couldn't give up on her.
As the two reached the Fuzen's portal and stepped inside, Sabitsuki took the chance to wrap her arms around Katrina's waist, burying herself in her warmth for perhaps an unspoken moment.

Katrina remained silent, not minding the young youkai that latched to her hand. She couldn't help but see Sabitsuki as a kid, even when they were about the same in Youkai years. Katrina had lived some other things she did not hope Sabi had to live, and while lost in her thoughts, she ignored when they made it to the portal and she felt the arms around her waist. The seven sin youkai stood baffled at the sudden show of affection, but after a second she returned the gesture slowly, just as the portal worked its magic. When they returned to the shrine, Fuzen was waiting for Katrina with the mirror youkai's lantern in her hand. The demon excused herself, and walked to the demoness. On the other hand, Fuzen welcomed her, thanked her for her timely intervention, and handed over the heavy oni-crafted lantern. "Feel free to come back to the shrine when you feel like visiting~" the temptress smiled as sweetly as ever, patting the mirror youkai's head, "The doors will always be open, now... I think I will go give Katrina a new outfit. I wonder how long she's had that!" Mara turned and took Katrina's wrist, dragging her off. "...Ah- Goodbye, Sabitsuki--"Candlelit Requiem Part Two: Lost Sheep Mean Lost Shepard There was little to be done afterwards, but inside of Sabitsuki's home there was various stray spirits about her home, floating about idly and really paying their "host" no mind when she entered. A staff was leaned over a table, with a ghost resting over it as if sleeping. The reason for the ghosts was equally lost wondering about the home curiously.

Sabitsuki returned to her home shortly after leaving Mara's Shrine. She was exhausted, and while her partially-reopened wound had stopped bleeding, she didn't want to risk tearing it further. Struggling to hold back a full-blooded Oni was something she didn't want to try accomplishing again for a very long, long time.
The mirror youkai ducked into the alleyway that would eventually lead to her home, nestled in the shadows of the taller buildings around it. Unlike an alley might be on the surface, the passage was warm and dry, lacking the errant puddle or smell of wet garbage one might imagine it to have. Instead, the smell of baked dirt and clay filled the air, and the dryness was a welcome change from the moist soil of Yuuka's garden.
Led by the light of her beloved lantern, Sabitsuki rounded a dark corner and came upon the first glance of her home. With a small smile, the mirror youkai ventured inside, pushing past the old wooden door, suspecting nothing to be amiss...
How wrong she was. Sabitsuki stared curiously at the spirits that seemed to have randomly invaded her home. She strode over to a small table where she ate and set her lantern down, then moved to poke at a wayward spirit that floated idly nearby. "H..Hello? Can I help yo--EE!" Sabitsuki flinched as she bumped into a misplaced staff, knocking it from its resting place and sending it clattering to the ground. She held her hands over her mouth, staring at the strangely familiar object.
"I... I-Is anyone there...?"

The clatter of the staff produced a "Ah!" from deeper, before hurried steps came to the main room. The shepard peeked her head into the room, with a blink, before moving to pick up her staff from the ground, immidiately, the ghosts gathered around her,"I am sorry for being rude. I simply couldn't stand being out in the open in former hell."
She bowed to Sabitsuki, putting a hand to her chest,"I hope you excuse my intrusion into you home. I trust you still remember me, from the incident not so long ago." Tebiki straightened out.
"I never did get your name, and if I did my memory fails, Hakurei Maiden."

Sabitsuki slowly pulled her hands away from her mouth, her fluttering heart slowing its beat. "Oh... M-Miss Shepard! I'm so happy to see you again! O-Of course I remember y...ah?" That's right. Sabitsuki had never told the Shepard her real name. In fact, the only time they had met was when she had been under the influence of that other presence.
"I-I'm afraid you are mistaken, if only slightly. I am not a Hakurei, n-nor am I a maiden. My name is Sabitsuki Kaibutsu, a Mirror Youkai born in the human village." Nervous, Sabitsuki began to move about the room, tidying this or that. "B-But, I am the person you met that day, that much is t..true. ...I can't really explain what happened that day, but... Nh..."
She turned back to the Shepard, clasping her hands behind her back and staring somewhat at the floor. "S-So... what can I do for you, Miss Shepard? Why are you here?"

((sorry to dead to personally color code this right now xD )
"Mistaken? So you are not the descendant of the Hakurei clan of any sort?" The shepard seemed deep in though, as she held her chin thought."Mh... you'd think that after this much time in my position I would have been able to clearly tell you are a simple mirror youkai -not that mirror youkai are ordinary these days- but understand that I thought thee to be a maiden when we met hither, so close to the demon's lair."
"Ah yes!" Snapping from her wondering thoughts Tebiki came back to the present," I heard that you lived here, and since I had to leave with the demon in tow last time, I never even thought of your well being as I should have...." The spirit went to gather her staff and undust it,"I was curious about you,in a way; curious unlike I had been in quite a bit of time." She chuckled and turned to Sabitsuki,"I've lived for along time, and I had never seen a possession by the Hakurei before, though it makes me question how the Hakurei managed to bind you in such a way that you were able to fight a demon like Fuzen-Mara and her servant so avidly."

Sabitsuki shook her head, reaffirming her confession. "I'm sorry, but I am no maiden. ...Mh, I suppose that means I am unordinary?"
"C... Curious? About me?" She raised her gaze to meet the Shepard's finally, though her posture remained timid and tense. "There's really nothing to know about me... I'm just... a little youkai, living in the Underground. I'm afraid I do not know why... o-or how... things came to pass the way they did. But does that mean you believe me?" Her gaze fell to the side again, as she began to fidget and play with her hair nervously. It was odd not having her headband anymore. "I-I was afraid to tell anyone about that... thing... that was inside me. I thought people might think I was... crazy."
As she continued, Sabitsuki moved to sit in one of the two chairs at her table. Never expecting company of any sort, the second chair was normally reserved for her Big Sis. "I don't remember much about that day. I remember traveling to the peak of Youkai Mountain, and... entering a sort of cave. It was dark, and cold... and then--" Her voice caught as she remembered the spell the Daughter of Mara had almost placed upon her, twice realizing she had almost fallen for it again earlier this day. "... Only... bits and pieces. There was light... and pain. And shadows everywhere. It was overwhelming, numbing. I felt strong, so strong, but helpless at the same time... you believe it was the Hakurei that did this to me...? But, I've never even met a shrine maiden before..."

"That is it; 'unordinary.' A mirror youkai, I had not heeded of them in a long time. It is not very common for a youkai to spring from an inanimate object. An incredible amount of stored emotion is needed for that," Tebiki said moving to sit across the table from Sabitsuki, leaning the staff on the edge of the table next to her. "Positive and Negative alike."
"Yes I believe you," she smiled warmly, in her way not very unlike Mara's,"I am a spirit myself. I know what kind of possession's there little ones are...." As she spoke, Tebiki pinched the tail of a soul between her thumb and index finger. The little ghost floated like a fly caught in a string would not stirring much, even when Tebiki tugged it onto her open palm and begun to pet it.
The Shepard nodded to herself,"It does indeed sound like a possession, Sabitsuki, right?" Still petting the happy spirit in her hands, she looked at the mirror youkai across from her. "It's possible you had a meeting with someone related to the Hakurei clan so long ago you no longer remember it. Prithee, a possession by the Hakurei is nothing to he concerned, they are benevolent spirts. Now and again Hijou-sama checks their time chart till reincarnation to see if she can shorten their place at Hakugyokurou as if looking for a way to return them quickly to the world of the living."
The Shepard released the ghost that gleefully floated away,"The Hakurei intervention may have been well what let us defeat the two demons that day."

"An... object. That's right... I was once just an object... sitting on a lonely shelf... ...But, we can become more than we originally were, r...right?"
Instantly, Sabitsuki caught the latent, probably unintentional seduction hidden in the Shepard's smile. Being under the influence of the strange spirit, the Hakurei Spirit, the mirror youkai hadn't noticed it before. Now that only her single voice filled her own head, it forced Sabitsuki to turn her gaze onto the table that separated them, in order to focus away from the notions.
"I suppose it's possible... N-Now that you mention it, nearly a year ago I came into contact with a strange being. She wore dark, mythical garb, and claimed to be a descendant of the Hakurei... but she didn't look anything like the tales of the maidens I had heard of myself. That woman saved me from Katrina - Miss Fuzen's servant - during a time that she... ...um... m-made an attempt on my life."
Hearing herself speak those words reminded her exactly how horrifying Katrina could be, if she tried. Not long ago she had wanted to kill Sabitsuki. But, that had changed now... right? "I... I see. I have heard that things have become somewhat dangerous for humans, ever since the last shrine maiden passed away. Protectors still exist, but I fear for their mortality, too... I sincerely hope the Hakurei make their return soon, for the sake of peace."
Sabitsuki sat quietly for a short moment, turning over their dialogue in her head, when something caught her attention. "Wait... did you say, 'Hijou'? As in, Hijou Akira...?!" She looked at Tebiki now, pressing her hands flat on the table. " I-I haven't seen her since I was a child!" Her expression had changed, and she was now showing a small smile that was further illuminated by the warm glow of the lantern that separated both Mirror and Shepard. "How is she? I hope she is well!"

"Of course. When an object is given will, it becomes a being. Being's think, therefore they are capable of changing the paths set out for them." Tebiki responded as Sabitsuki seemed a bit quiet. Had she said something offensive?
"That is likely what made a bond between you and the Hakurei lineage," The shepard responded,"When two lives so much as graze on another, they have the potential to influence one another for as long as one or the other exists. It would not be farfetched to think that you were the only one with such connection that was involved with the incident, and by turn, the only one the Hakurei could reach to." The spirit nodded to herself,"That is right, humans are in more danger than ever, and only the return of the Hakurei can put some pressure on matters, perhaps if the Moriya Shrine wou--"
"Ah?" Tebiki blinked at Sabitsuki, and smiled once more,"Yes. Hijou Akira. She is the Yama I work under, and I have done so for a couple years now. Hijou-sama is still young by Yama standards, and she has a long way till receiving a proper tittle, but she is well in her way. She is still a bit soft, but time in court will erase that in due time."

Sabitsuki's smile softened lightly. "...Erase? ...I-I guess... being in her position, softness is u...unacceptable..." She gave a slight laugh, and rubbed at her arm nervously. "Then again, who am I to comment on being soft..? I-I don't think I can be anything but soft... I am glad she is doing well. I would ask you to pass my greetings to Akira, but... I doubt she would remember me."
She curled up on the chair she sat upon, hugging her knees to her chest. The chairs were large enough to fit an Oni, so naturally, her childlike stature was well emphasized. "If what you say is true, then I am glad to have met the dark Hakurei in my time. I... I don't know what would have happened if that presence hadn't been there, guiding me and giving me strength. I am truly grateful to it." She raised a hand to inspect her palm. "But... that presence is gone now. It disappeared once the battle had ended, just before you took Miss Fuzen away... O Shepard, so wise and strong, what became of Miss Fuzen? I discovered she had been allowed to return to her shrine, but... but why?" Sabitsuki peeked over her knees at Tebiki, resting her chin against them. "Not that I ever wished for any ills to befall Miss Fuzen, but I can't help but feel... somewhat betrayed, like all that we worked for had been for naught."

"Yamas do not forget, my dear, even if she was young," Tebiki smiled at Sabitsuki," nothing wrong with soft.... These spirits are soft, and they are at peace in their existence."
The shepard looked to the little mirror as she asked her about Fuzen and why she had been allowed freedom. She was but a child, much like Tebiki's body was frozen in the frame she had died in. The spirit's mind had aged, and as that, she saw that Sabitsuki too would age with time. "It was a... rather unflattering compromise." The shepard tapped her finger onto the table recalling the court hearing,"Apparently, Fuzen-mara had served a previous sentence in the Sealed Chamber, from the third time I had captured her. Even though she had been broke out, the demon drove a good bargain, saying she would stay within the Underground till she be called forth or summoned, arguing that she had gathered faith even in her absence. That was true in one way... additionally, her servant...... "
Tebiki sighed,"The third time I found Fuzen-mara, in her shrine, I took her for judgement, and left the Seven Sin Youkai unconscious in the shrine. If I hadn't left her... perhaps her story would have been another. I think she turned bitter, and without the guidance of an older demon, a bit erratic and unable to understand her own power. ... Ah, what i am trying to say is that I took the once-human demon's teacher, and because of that, I could have potentially created another creature like Fuzen-mara."
Once more she sighed,"You would think I would have learned from my first mistake; it goes so far as to show I am still human in some corner of my heart."

"But... you shouldn't be the one to blame alone, Miss Shepard." Sabitsuki stirred slightly in her chair. "As... as much as I hate to admit it, Miss Katrina chose her own path, just as we all must. I've seen the confusion in her, that much is true... and even if Miss Fuzen had been allowed to stay with her, there was no guarantee that she wouldn't have turned out the same as she is now." Slowly, Sabitsuki relaxed her position, letting her legs down and rest. "But... I am also glad that she has been allowed to return to Miss Katrina. She seems much softer now, and doesn't appear so... volatile. Why, she even sought to safeguard another being from harm!"
Sabitsuki smiled warmly at the thought, remembering how the demoness had acted to keep harm from her sister. "...It may, or may not have been for the right reasons, but it proves that there's still some good in her... right? A-And it's true that Miss Fuzen seems quite happy to just be home! ...Though... that may just be the way that I see her..." A small blush lit up the mirror youkai's face, forcing her to avert her gaze to the wall. "...She's really nice, and soft, too..."
"...Oh!" A look of mild surprise replaced her embarrassed expression while looking at the cupboard to the side of the room. "I-I am sorry, Miss Shepard! Would you like some tea, or... or something? I d-don't get many guests, so..." Standing from her chair, Sabitsuki went over to the cupboards and opened one of the doors, and began rummaging inside for cups and whatnot.

"I am hoping the demoness does not cause trouble now that she has Fuzen-Mara at her door once more. Letting Mara's Daughter return to the shrine was the leseer of two evils," Tebiki responded, noting the certain affection the mirror youkai,'We are hoping that ... Katrina, was it?... Behaves a bit more now. It seems there is already a bit of a change, from what you say, Miss Kaibutsu."
The shepard tilted her head," careful with what you chose to believe from the temptress. Her charm is a poison that can run into anyone's veins, little one; its that softness that makes me most uneasy." The small jump from sabitsuki made Tebiki leave that matter aside," Whatever you have and feel like offering, my dear host." The spirit couldn't help but smile a bit at Sabitsuki's energy.
"I suppose this means that you have formed a bond with Mara's Residents?" The spirit spoke interlocking her fingers and leaning her elbows onto the table. Pensively she leaned her chin on her interwoven fingers. "The two demons, the mole, the oni... all of them are in our watch list. I warn you not to join them, child, they are not a nice crew. ... But if you believe you can influence them in a positive away, do so carefully."

After a bit of searching, Sabitsuki produced two cups from the cupboard, and an old tea kettle. With a small smile, she set the cups down on the table and went to the nearby stove - as the kitchen and table shared the same room - and set the old kettle on top, then filled it with some water. She looked up to Tebiki's question.
"A... bond? W-Well, I... I guess so... D, Don't you believe, Miss Shepard, that everyone deserves a second chance? Because, ... I do..." Sabitsuki went back to the table to retrieve her lantern, then returned to the stove. She opened up the small door on the front of the lantern and reached inside, plucking a small ember from the magic flame within the crafted device. She brought the burning wisp to her lips and blew, sending the ember into the stove and lighting the pilot light underneath the kettle, then closed the door to her lantern. "The oni.... Wait, do you mean Ibara..?!" Sabitsuki spun on her heels, clutching her treasure to her chest. "Wh..why is she being watched? She is not a bad person! She... she is living in torment. Surely you must understand that?"
Sabitsuki went over to join Tebiki while the the water warmed, replacing the lantern onto the table as she sat. "I know what she's done; I've seen inside her heart. Miss Hinarasu did something horrible once, and she hasn't forgiven herself since. Isn't that enough..?"
