[F'itz & Brumath
Agility: +2
HP: 45/60]

F'itz nodded grimly as Brumath made his gloomy prediction, tossing the brown the last of their firestone.

<...Oh.>

Ahead of them was a thick mess of Thread, too thick for them to destroy it all.

[HP: 45 - 0 = 45]

As they drew closer to the silver tangle Brumath flamed with all of his might, his efforts making a hole in the silver curtain.

As he felt his rider lie completely flat over his neck Brumath snapped his wings back so that they lay flush against his body, stretched out his neck and straightened his tail. Together man and brown shot through the hold they had created like a performer leaping through a ring of fire. Once they were clear Brumath twisted his neck to a near painful angle and breathe the last of the fire at the deadly writing wall. <Some day we shall perish!> he bellowed to the Weyr, <But not this day!>

S’kor/ Bronze Scarath (Gale Stalkers Wingsecond)
HP: 53
Agility: -4

S’kor asked if his dragon wanted to visit the healers right quick and get his back smeared with numbweed. The dragon stiffly declined. He hadn’t thought Scarath would, but it hadn’t hurt to ask.

Scarath considered the wound minor as it didn’t stop him from flying. Besides how would the wing react to see the second retreat to get it patched up before the Fall was over? No he would not do it. The big bronze flamed some smaller patches of thread.

Optheli/ Green Dynith (Gale Stalkers Wingrider)
HP: 33
Agility: +2

Two waves and her green really needed to rest. She patted the dark neck. C’mon lets go home and see what help I can be there while you rest. Optheli was also going to see to the minor scoring. Thanking the first egg it was minor. This fall had been brutal. Inform Plexith we’ll be pulling out.

Dynith crooned wearily. Her wings ached and trembled as she tried to keep herself and her rider up. Plexith Mine and I are returning to the Weyr. She waited a moment for conformation then headed to the dubious safety of her wallow.

Wykla/ Blue Kameth (Storm Riders Wingrider)
HP: 45
Agility: +1

“Shards,” Wykla cursed under her breath as she scrambled up her blue’s side. He’d just informed her that Calanoth ordered them and the other blues back. It must have been bad as Kameth also relayed that the wingsecond was taking over. With fresh sacks she ordered her dragon into the sky and back to the fight.

Tell Follith that we are coming. Gather the dragons that can fly. Her face was grim as she gave the orders.

Kameth rumbled. Storm Riders to me. We are needed. Follith we are coming. The blue leaped up. He took a second to glance behind him at the arrayed dragons then went between. He came out flaming.

Wykla/ Blue Kameth (Storm Riders Wingrider)
HP: 45 - 7 = 38
Agility: +1
Damage: 8 -1 = 7

It was just as well that he'd decided to come in with flames. The tangle of thread right in front of him burst into flames. Despite his best efforts the half burning mass stuck against his forelegs. Kameth let out a bellow and hopped back between for a few seconds to kill it off. What lousy luck!

Adi and Mazamath
Agility: 0
HP: 32/47
Thread Burned: 4
Thread Remaining: 107

Once they had been called, Adi and Mazamath were quick to return to the air, just as Wykla and Kameth did - they might not like fighting Thread and potentially getting hurt, but that didn't mean they wouldn't do it anyway. The blue sent a wordless feeling to Calanoth, a mixture of concern-reassurance-encouragement, and got back to work flaming Thread.

There would be time for checking how bad or not bad things were later, once everyone was safely back on the ground...or mostly safely, hopefully.

[Kleos and Moriath
Agility: +1
HP: 55/77
+5 to burn]

For a few blessed moments the skies were clear; breathing hard Moriath swept around to study the state of her wing. she ordered briskly as she returned to her spot in the formation, amongst the browns and other crimsons.

The respite was only momentary; no sooner had wounded or wearied dragons traded places with fresh fighters, another swathe of silver advanced upon them Moriath urged,

Giving a battle cry of elation and defiance the scarred dragon shot like an arrow towards the ancient foe and unleashed a mighty gout of flame.

[HP: 55 - 6 = 49]

Her charge was not without risk or cost; as they broke through the leading edge of the Thread tendrils of it caught at Moriath's shoulders and at Kleos' right side and thigh. The pair cried out in unison and betweened in a flash to rid themselves of the hungry strands.

As they reappeared Kleos gasped in pain, looking down at herself to check he damage. Thread had eaten through the leather of her riding gear in a couple of spots but the wounds were only small and were shallow as well; painful but no more. she asked of her dragon even as she passed her more firestone.

Moriath replied,

Set'al and Pipith
Agility +2
HP: 59/65
Thread Burned: 3
Thread Remaining: 89

See? Pipith asserted smugly, having at last managed to do some real damage their silver enemy. There is nothing wrong with my aim. So give me more firestone, and let's get rid of the rest of this!

As soon as Set'al had obliged, the bronze expelled another flame against this new wave of Thread.

Set'al and Pipith
Agility +2
HP: 57/65

What was that about your aim? Set'al observed dryly, but before his dragon could respond, a tendril of thread caught and clung to the edge of Pipith's wing, forcing them between again. It was a minor hit at best, like the others they'd taken thus far this Fall, but the fact that they were being hit at all irritated the bronze.

There was more frustration than pain in his angry hiss when they reappeared. Enough commentary already, Mine. Or would you like to chew some firestone?

F’law/ Blue Zurith (Dawn Fliers Wingrider)
HP: 39
Agility: +1

The last wave was coming, and yet he knew the blue could not continue. They would only be endangering themselves and their wing if they tried to stay. F’law could feel the sluggishness from Zurith. Lets go. That was all he needed to say.

Zurith heaved a sigh. His was right. They would be no more help this fall. The dark blue reported in to his wingleader then headed back to the Weyr.

Doing okay, Maz? Your wing's still alright?

It could be better, but it could also be worse. It works just fine, AdiMine, so don't fret. I am not going to drop out of the sky. That would not be fun at all, and he would rather avoid it! He swooped away from a falling clump of silver and quickly twisted back around to burn it from the air.

[F'itz & Brumath
Agility: +2
HP: 45/60]

In the brief moments between the end of one wave and the start of another Brumath peeled away from the wing to collect fresh firestone. F'itz was fastening the sacks into place and they were taking their position back up when the fight began anew.

For a moment F'itz closed his eyes, fighting weariness and the ache of his muscles; though he had fully recovered from the wounds he had taken during the revolution he wasn't as fit as he had been before as yet and this prolonged action was taxing.

Behind the scarf that covered his face, F'itz smiled wearily. Steeling his will the grey-haired rider reached into a firestone bag and tossed his long-time partner more fuel.
