His expression became something of mixture of emotions though he certainly didn't look hurt. It was mostly just ... frustration tempered by a deeper emotion - love. Kettil shook his head a bit, "Maybe...Maybe I don't know what I want to do just yet with m'life. Maybe I'm a bit lost on what I am meant to do."

Kettil tilted his head down toward his lap as he just stared down at it for a long moment, "I mean it every time we... promise a forever to each other. If they make you do things or send you somewhere far away...I'll be there with ya."

He'd made up his mind.

"I plan on bein' with ya right now. As far as my future goes...Stayin' by yer side just a small piece of it, in the grand scheme of things. Even if you go somewhere where...y'aren't allowed to take me I'll...Be there somehow," was all he said softly with a small shrug.

She didn't want to believe it.

She realized it as soon as she admitted it to herself - Freya was being hesitant about Kettil promising forever because she refused to believe in forever, anymore. She knew she needed him in her life, but she refused to believe he was going to love her, just like this, without ever changing or feeling different. She refused to believe anything lasted forever, anymore. And every time he refuted her, or begged her to believe in forever, she just accepted the words at face value, without letting them into her heart.

It was there, that true danger lay.

"Hooter, yeh may plans these things, but yeh don't knows.." Her face cringed in dismay. "Yeh don't knows how yeh'll feel, what yeh'll want. Just.." Her hands clung to his shoulders, shaking softly. She was scared. Scared of letting go, perhaps. Scared of believing. Scared of herself.

She reached up and started unrolling one of his dreads, falling silent. Busy work to keep her from falling apart.

For once, in a long time, Kettil had nothing to say. At least right now. He was letting her words sink in and he was dissecting them. Taking the words apart, eating them, digesting them, and then spitting them back out once he decided he didn't agree with their flavor. They hurt his heart and made his stomach clench up. It hurt him to think that he was that flighty with his emotions.

Perhaps he felt things strongly than he ought to. Perhaps he was short sighted. Perhaps he just simply wanted to believe in forever again because he quite simply didn't want to let that thought go yet. The ideals of being with someone until the very end were just too attractive of a goal for him to shoot for.

He didn't move away and he just let her work.

"I know exactly how I'll feel," he said softly, "I'll love ya more then than I do now. I'll be hardly able to keep it inside me. It'll want to burst out of every part of me until I scream of my love for ya to everyone around me. I'll do it, too, Freya. I'll scream it from the highest mountain I can find in Halloween, if that is what it takes. I don' care ... what my future is, I just know that it includes you. Don't write yourself out of it just cause..."

His fingertips clutched at the cushion he sat on, "Just cause you're scared. I'm scared, too, y'know. So scared I can hardly breathe sometimes."

"I don't want to think that one day that I'll wake up and you won't be there or that y'suddenly found some other boil or ghoul worthy of yer heart...Cause I know...I just know y'aint like that." He said at the end.

Freya's hands started unrolling his hair with quicker, sharper movements. Her hands were shaking, and she had to move faster to compensate. Faster. Faster.

It was never going to be enough.

She knew exactly what he was doing. He was being Kettil. Beautiful, pure of heart, loyal, loving Kettil. Perfect, precious Kettil. He didn't even have to try, he just was. Each gentle word brushed lovingly against her heart, as it attempted to soothe away her armor. He had the power to do this, with his words.

But words could only go so far.

When he finished speaking, her hands finally stilled on his hair. They unraveled themselves, and a soft chuckle left her. She grabbed him by the shoulders, and twisted to make him turn to face her. When he could see her, her eyes had darkened, and her brow was furrowed deeply. "I'm not likes that, Kettil?" There was a dark humor to her voice. "Really? Maybe yeh should thinks about what yehr sayings, for a second. Thinks about where I was, a month ago. Thinks about where I woke up."

Nothing hurt more than saying this, to him. Every agony the Hunters and Herryk might have caused paled to this very moment, as she unabashedly reminded Kettil that she was not the perfect ghoul he kept seeing her as.

He let her turn him. Kettil faced her face forward and he just stared at her. His expression went from frustrated to just a deep quiet anger his body sort of unwound inching closer to her, His hands moved to pin her down underneath his body. Kettil brought his face closer to hers staring intently narrowing his eyes at her.

"You really think I give any amounts of <********> about you and Herryk?" He hissed at her lowly. "The fact that I let him have you is the last mistake I'll ever make, Freya. The very last." His fingertips dug into the cushions of the couch now. He was almost radiating with a sudden jealousy, it boiled up under his skin and oozed out of his dark green eyes.

He didn't hit. He didn't scream. His displeasure was known quite easily and readily.

"You wanna say you're gonna screw around on me? Is that what you want to tell me Freya? Because I sincerely hope not. Are you sayin' you're just gonna wake up and walk away from me one day? You tryin' to make yourself seem like you're just gonna ******** around with my heart and drop me?" He said his body was trembling now with emotion a mixture of sorrow, hurt, and anger rolling about for dominance within him.

Kettil's face twisted away from hers and his head bowed down between them. He wasn't defeated. Kettil let out a small growl as he started to push away from her and the couch.

"What is past is past. What is now is here." He finished quietly.

That little thread of stubbornness that made Freya blurt out the words she'd said to make him rile up on her, snapped the moment he towered over her body. There was a tiny voice piping up in the back of her mind that pointed out that she was pretty sure this was the first time she'd ever heard Kettil curse, at least like that, but she tried to keep that voice out because she had to focus, now. It was important to focus on what was happening, because Kettil was not letting up on the topic. He wasn't running away. And he definitely wasn't letting her run away from it.

He was facing it like a man.

She wanted to say no - she wanted to scream it every time he asked her a question. Her lips even formed the word, mouthing it out breathlessly. But she found she couldn't make a sound. She just laid underneath him, paling with an overwhelming sense of regret, until he pushed away from her.

She stared up at him when he moved away, and let out the breath she didn't realize she was holding.

What is past, is past. How did he do it? She wanted to embrace the present as strongly as he did. She reached out, tugged on one of his arms, and enveloped it in both of her own. She still couldn't speak, and even if she could, she wouldn't know what to say. All she could think about was one throbbing, building fear that coursed through her veins every moment he spoke.

She couldn't lose him.

He wasn't going to leave the room or her. Kettil just wanted a moment to get his emotions under control again and to tuck away the darkness that threatened to wash over him in a sudden wave of hurt that she had dug into him. Without a dagger she had stabbed him deep and unerringly within his heart and it bled. It bled jealousy, anger, and hurt. Colors of reds, deep blues, and green were the colors that made up blood of his emotions.

Kettil was empty now. She reached out and tugged on his arm and it made him look toward her.

The boil wasn't sure what to feel except for one thing. He turned toward her and cupped her cheek quietly. At the moment he said nothing as he carefully tugged his arm out of her grasp just so he could kneel before her and drape his arms around her, his form now covering hers in a friendlier manner than a few moments before.

For the briefest of moments, when he tugged his arm away, a wave of crippling anxiety gripped her entire body. He was leaving her. He was leaving. She'd done it again, she'd done it-

Her body came to life in a shudder of shock when his arms draped around her body, and she looked up at him, the picture of questioning surprise. Was she having a nervous breakdown and imagining he was still there, still holding her as if he wanted her? She had been two skips away from losing her mind completely, before Kettil'd saved her. Maybe the last crack had just broken her sense of reality completely.

But if that was true, then she could live her life as she imagined it. Disregard the world, and all of the pain and suffering.

And that was a nice thought.

Her arms slid under his, pulling him down against her as she lay on the couch, crumpled up in fetal position. She needed to feel him, everywhere. She needed to believe, even if it wasn't true, that she really could have him forever.

"I'm sorry." She whispered into the skin of his neck. But for once, she didn't cry. She couldn't. She had nothing to cry about.

Kettil was still in her arms.

His body easily and happily moved to lay with hers. Kettil craved to be close to her just as she craved to be close to him. His arms tightened just a bit a round her and he heard her whisper - felt the breath of it against his neck. For the moment he said nothing in return.

Kettil tilted his head to lightly place a kiss at her temple. As angry as she had managed to make him a few moments ago he was close with her again. Embracing her and still wanting to stay by her side. If that didn't speak volumes of his dedication he wasn't sure what else he could do to prove it to her.

"I forgive you," he said softly and sincerely. Their conversation had run away with the both of them but then they were both still very tender in their hearts. Sometimes it was easy to forget the things that had torn the hearts in two when they were within each other's arms like this.

Just like he'd always done, Kettil managed to find the perfect thing to say. He didn't apologize, because she would never be able to accept that he had anything to apologize for. He didn't tell her that she shouldn't apologize, either. He'd said exactly what Freya needed to hear in that one, perfect moment.

And in response, her head lifted, and she beamed the most brilliant of smiles at him. Her heart felt like it was going to burst with happiness.

And then a stray, funny thought crossed her mind, and her grin turned wry. "Yeh knows what?" She leaned in and kissed his nose. "I thinks we just had our first lovers spat."

He crinkled his nose as she kissed it. Kettil stared at her almost as if in disbelief that she seemed so amused by this but then again as he thought about it, so was he. He leaned a bit and kissed her lightly at the corner of her lips in return, "Think you're right."

It had started as a serious talk. Then someone said something that hurt the other, it was a spat. Kettil almost argued that it hadn't been.

Kettil ran his fingertips over her cheek and smiled a bit, "Well, we'll have to celebrate it sometime," he teased lightly.

She stared at him dubiously, before smirking. "Celebratings? How does yeh celebrates a lovers spat? Do we has teh wrestles for it?"

...

"Because if so, I will whoop yehr a**."

He just grinned back at her as he leaned and nipped at her nose, "I doubt it."

Freya's smile vanished, and her eyes glittered. "Is that.. a.. challenge..?"

"Oh it is. It very much is," he said softly with his grin still present.
