"You're a friendly drunk," Jordan corrected with a touch of amusement.

"Aye. It was easier to make friends and s**t before the island because then I was always mister friendly drunk. Well. Most of the time anyway. Still don't do stupid stuff very much when I'm smashed. " Other maybe than being a little too friendly. And capricious.
Jerry got another measured look. "So does this revelation of yours mean you are finally over crazy b***h?"

"Don't call her that," Jerry said quietly. His face, though, lacked the pain it had had since that faithful night, instead a soft sort of complicated expression.
"I mean... I still love her but.... but... women and booze," He shook his head, "Two vices I would be better without, I think."

"Not sure I'd call women a vice, unless you're indulging recklessly," Jordan said thoughtfully. "You've had some pretty crap luck in that arena, though." Candace, who had seemed to adore Jerry, and had been cheating on him for who knew how long, and Sasha, who had changed so drastically as to become nearly another person. Jordan could see how that might put a guy off.

"What?" Rep snorted. "She is. Someone tries to slit my throat, they are crazy in my book."
Rep made a face at Jordan's statement.
"I dunno, women seem like a pretty ******** dangerous vice to me. Never met a single person with anything to do with them who was ever ******** truly happy. Just a bunch of guys beaten into thinking they were." He waved vaguely in Jerry's direction. "Best thing you ever did, getting rid of her."

Jerry stopped his playing, staring softly into the surf. The merriment was gone from his face, but at least he didn't look depressed. He looked thoughtful, if anything. "Relationships are just.... trouble. I need to just be in my Jerry place." He murmured. "And I don't think they can help me like I had hoped."

Jordan tucked his hands into his pockets. "If nothing else," he said, "you should probably figure out what you want before trying again."

"Well aye, that's a good way to look at it. Make your ******** mind up before falling for the first thing in a skirt. A guy doesn't need a ******** woman to exist you know."

"Maybe I'm just.... asexual," Jerry's brow furrowed as he tried to think about it. Normally, the thought of a beautiful woman to love him and be loved by him and walk through life together was all he ever really wanted. But now.... things seemed different now.
His rose smelled so sweet.
Life felt simpler.
He nodded as though agreeing with himself, "That's probably it. I mean, I tried to be gay but that didn't work out ahahahahaha... to gay for gay, huh? Ahahahahaha."

Yet another conversational pathway he really didn't want to deal with. "Asexual? I've heard of that," Jordan said, hoping to push the emphasis back onto the first part of the statement. "I guess if you're not really interested in either, that's a possibility."

Rep raised a brow at Jerry before narrowing his eyes. It was touchy ground for him. So he'd "tried" to be gay and found it lacking. Just ******** tried it like some new flavour of soft drink, like it was any sort of choice. His constant anxiety was that he wasn't quite gay enough, but there was Jerry who just didn't find it to his tastes. "You tried to be gay?" he stated irritably.
"So how do you ******** try to be gay exactly? Dress in those stupid shirts? Be a weedy ********' pansy?" Because if there was a manual on it, they didn't have his address.
He found himself hoping Jerry was aesexual, it would mean one less set of horrific thoughts in his head.

At the comment on his shirt, Jerry laughed gleefully, wobbling upright again. The back of his cut-offs were soaking wet and riddled with sand and he wobbled to a safer place to set his guitar down where it was dry. "Well- you know..." He glanced to Jordan a moment, face flushing before looking away with a shrug, "I tried to kiss a boy. It didn't work out though, there wasn't that ZING y'know? I mean... I mean, I like kissing girls. I like.... I like being with girls. But... I've just been thinking, y'know? Maybe it's just not for me. In general. Like booze. Just... things I should avoid because they make life miserable." He nodded sagely at his own wisdom.

Well, at least Jerry hadn't outright said it; still, this was an uncomfortable topic. "Well, if you like kissing girls, I don't know if that falls under asexual," Jordan said. "But if it's not something that you feel like you need, then maybe it's not." Awkward.

Rep was always wired very tightly to the way other people behaved, their gestures and actions. He followed the look to Jordan himself sharply, but said nothing. It could just be that Jerry had already confided this to the other man, after all Jordan was surprisingly easy to confide in. He lingered for just a few moments, clearly thinking before seeming to subtly frown and turn his attention back to Jerry.
He tried to push past the doubts - he'd dealt with enough hassle for his instincts lately.
At the very least he knew what Jerry meant by the zing, acutely - it had been the kick of surprise that had started the upheaval he'd somehow drudged through. "You can't avoid s**t just because it makes you miserable." he said wrly. "That's the cowards ******** way out. You just deal with it. I mean you are dealing right now - drugged up crazy or not."

"Intoxication only leads to alienation to your peers and civilization you must have a detoxification or you're screwed."
Jerry suddenly babbled, skipping along the beach as though quite happy to forget the whole conversation.
"And I'm not crazy. Nor am I on drugs." As far as he knew.
