            First suggested by Sari1995.

This is about a circus in town, a mysterious bunch.
The hosts will all be performers while the guests are the audience.
Generally, the guests don't show up until a while after, so the first bit we're just going to play out the show quickly so that guests can come right in to mingle with the performers after the show (which is going to be the event).
The performers are going to be evasive and mysterious, and they are definitely NOT going to be human.

If this idea is chosen, we're definitely going to have to elaborate.

The plot twist shall be finding out that the performers are not human. They can be anything. I'm thinking something along the lines of vampire/superhuman/supernatural/whatever.

I doubt it would work very well if the plot twist of the circus was just that the performers aren't human. Unless the scale of the circus mirrors cirque du solei, they're probably not going to have enough costumes and makeup on-hand to hide the fact they are non-humans. The carnival aspect could easily come in the form of traditional games with a creepy bent. These 'games' could also be contests in the thread! (Bobbing for apples, would be something like hidden in a post will be mention of an apple-based treat. first to quote will get a prize!)

Perhaps this is a 'specialty show' - catering to gaians of interesting tastes (goths, freaks, people of the night) ae la Cirque du Freak: The Vampires Assistant. I haven't read the books but it offers an interesting enough setup for a Dark Carnival/circus to easily follow.

I say, a good plot twist would also be that that they are hiring! //spooky music//
While the Dark Circus is in town, they are currently seeking a few behind-the-scenes workers to help them. Trouble is, unless you're not afraid of them, you don't typically want to work under the Ringmaster Logan (insert better name here?), the notorious chief ghoul of the Darkwood Traveling Circus (insert better traveling circus name here).

I'll need more time to try and work this out a bit more, but additions and thoughts, as well as critiques, are always welcome. 3nodding

Haha, I was actually thinking something crazy like Cirque du Soleil. XDD

But that sounds like a cool idea. I'm getting a picture of the performers trying to sweet-talk guests into working for them! XDD

Dark Circus all the way. But instead of just a circus of killers, they will entertain you, with their methods of screams and terror.

Sounds great! I would choose Dark Carnival. We could all be a variety of scary things which would be fascinating in my opinion rather than being all just like vampires or zombies. ^_^

Totally. It would be a fun haunted house type thing, like "Terror In The Corn," here in Colorado.

Where are my zombie slayers out there? Are you going to pass up the opportunity to blow away the waves of mindless undead with a boomstick, and hack the apart with a chainsaw!? What would Ash do? Hail to the King Baby! We do Zombie there is a whole host of comical imagery and one liners we can bring up. Think of the pun jokes people...all those wonderful pun jokes. Head will roll, you look good enough to eat, Playing brain games, and so many more! Think of Ash, think of the survivors from Left 4 Dead and Dead Island, the soldiers from Call of Duty, Master Chief fighting the flood, and the best Zombie killers around Leon Kennedy, Chris and Clare Redfield, and all the heroes of Resident Evil!

TRICK OR TREAT, PEEPS

I could mash like, everything into this. You have no idea. There'd be say five or so 'houses'; one with a costume party that gains a magical plot somehow that I have not thought of (treat); one that has had the zombie virus introduced to a few members, with one member being a 'xombie' and trying to keep the virus from spreading beyond his house- and uncertain how the virus spreads, so anyone who comes to the door gets taken inside because there's infected blood on the front mat that's better left untracked all over the place (trick); a house where werewolf Twilight enthusiasts have captured a vampire and are turning anyone who comes to the door into a vampire or werewolf- their choice- and then attempting to find a way to glitterize their vampires (trick or treat, whatever you see it as, really); a not-so-run-of-the-mill haunted house run by an insane immortal (possibly a demon) whose favorite activity is to frighten people to death, and Halloween provides it plenty of people that walk willingly into his trap in expectation of the adrenaline rush that comes from a quick scare (trick); one would be a 'gingerbread house', though guests are asked to not gnaw through structurally important sweets, however, the person (probably a young girl?) that made the sweets realizes too late that her evil aunt had put a spell of All-Purpose Wrath on her sugar, and it begins popping up in all kinds of unpleasant ways- but as with all witch's spells, there is a ridiculously specific counter to the curse which is hinted at through riddles, codes, and other arcane methods that they just have to figure out to get rid of the curse (treat); one house would have a bowl of candy that says 'take one'- and if you take more than one, a gate clangs shut behind you and Frankenstein's monster comes and 'guides' you to a room where a petrified looking person is chained to the wall with a hangman game drawn on the wall next to them, and you go through games of hangman, each harder than the last, until something happens to overcome the monster and Dr. Frankenstein comes to sew everyone back together..

I really like this idea...

♥ dark carnival!
i'm so obsessed with circuses ever since i read the circus arc in kuroshitsuji uwu.
we could do like a dark woods circus (youtube) dealie, whereby we have one host playing the part of a person visiting the circus, and other hosts playing the parts of various performers, and the performers would be deformed in some ways (like in the song) and the twist could be that they want to escape because the ringmaster is cruel, and throws acid on them when they don't perform (this actually happened! freak shows were very common in, i believe, japan. the freaks would be bent out of shape when very young and punished with acid when they misbehaved. cruel, yet fascinating.)

i have no good ideas haha.
but i do love that song. maybe we could take some ideas from it and it's backstory?

edit: just a summary of the story, spoiler tagged because omg wall of text ahead. i have warned you.

Now, the real story behind this goes like this:
In Japan, people would used to abduct children and take them deep into woods where no one could find them. In the woods, they would extract/add appendages to the children.

What's even more horrible, is that when the children tried escaping or, at the least, screaming/crying, the "circus masters" would throw acid on their face and cover it up with flowers.
When the children's appendages were added/removed, people would actually come and pay and see the deformities, as they call them.

Now, would you like to read the actual, fictional story?
A young child walked through the busy streets, looking for something to do. She was always bored. "I wish a circus would come to town."
"Be careful what you wish for." Came a voice behind her. "You just might get it."

She turned to see a pair of twins dressed as clowns. The boy handed her a flyer and smiled. "You're in luck. There's a circus set up in the woods nearby."
The girl smiled. "Come and see the deformity! The rare and unusual at the Dark Woods Circus!" she yelled, obviously advertising.
The child looked up at them. "But, isn't that a freak show?"
The twins looked at each other. "I don't see the difference." The girl said.
The two ran off, and the boy looked over his shoulder. "Follow us! Come and see the Dark Woods Circus!"

The girl felt nervous, like something was off, but her curiosity got the best of her. She ran after the two into the forest. She looked up to see two very tall people. One with long silver hair, the other with a blonde ponytail. The silver haired woman was dressed in a blue suit, and the blonde woman was dressed in a teal dress. "Hello." Said the silver haired woman. "Are you here for the circus?"
The girl nodded, but stopped. "Well, I would be, but I don't have a ticket."
The blonde woman laughed. "A ticket, she says!" she laughed again, looking down at the girl. "You don't need a ticket to visit the Dark Woods Circus!"
"R-really?"
"Of course! This is only opening night, so free admission is mandatory!" the silver haired woman smiled.
"Oh, okay." The girl smiled and walked into the tent. She saw the twins again, but something was different. They were one body, with two heads. They wore a green and orange circus suit.

So this is what they meant by deformity…

She was once again curious, and her impatience grew. She slipped into the back, somehow not seen. She saw a girl with long green hair in a cage with a blindfold. She was wearing a long blue dress. She moved on to see a blue haired boy in a straightjacket, sitting at a table. The twins walked in, but didn't see the girl from her hiding place.

The blindfolded girl heard their steps, and said, "Len? Is that you?"
The blonde boy smiled slightly. "More or less." He reached in and took her blindfold off.
She opened her eyes and smiled. "Thank you. How was your performance?"
The girl twin laughed. "You should've seen their faces! I swear, they get more and more surprised with each town we visit!"
The green haired girl smiled. "I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves." She stood up, and the girl stifled a gasp. The green haired girl had goat legs!

Len reached in to grab the green haired girl's hand. "I know it's hard, Miku, but it's just for a bit longer."
The girl saw tears falling down Miku's face. "But it hurts so much! How much longer until I fully rot away?"
The girl noticed skin hanging loose from one arm. She felt tears p r i c k her own eyes. How could they do this to people?
Len turned his head to face his twin's. "How long have we been like this, Rin?"
Rin sighed. "About two years. I don't think we have much longer."

Len reluctantly pulled away from Miku. "I'm sorry, but we have to feed Kaito." They walked over to the blue haired boy's cage and picked up a piece of raw meat. "Here Kaito. Raw and cold, just the way you like it." Rin smiled. They opened the cage door, and set the meat on the table.
Kaito just looked at them blankly for a second before bending over to eat the meat.
"I wish the mistress wouldn't make him eat with his straightjacket on." Rin sighed. They walked out of the cage.
Miku screamed, and the twins raced back to her. "It hurts, it hurts!" she screamed.
Len put his hand to her face, but recoiled at first. The girl saw bits of liquid flesh sticking to his hand. Len sighed, and put his hand back in. "Hang in there. It'll be over soon." He comforted.
The girl watched in both fascination and horror as Miku slowly melted away. All that was left was the hair Len had grabbed onto.

"Miku…" he sobbed.
Rin turned her head and the two ran back to Kaito's cage. "We're getting out of here!" Rin whispered frantically to him. He looked up at her.
"Miku just rotted away, and if we stay here, we'll be next!" Rin struggled with the knots on the straightjacket. "Len help!"
But Len's hand held desperately onto all that was left of Miku.
"Ugh! You're no help! Miku would want you to help us get out of here, right?"
Without knowing it, the girl moved from her hiding place. She saw a brown haired woman in a red dress walk in. "Trying to escape, are we?" She snapped her fingers, and the twins, along with Kaito, melted into nothing. Then the woman turned.
"Well, we can't have you blabbing to the public, now can we?"

Many weeks later, a boy sat, bored out of his mind.
"Would you like to visit the Dark Woods Circus?" came a voice behind him.
He turned to see a girl in a pink dress holding flyers. She smiled, but thought, Why didn't I just leave it alone?
Silly girl. Didn't you ever hear the phrase, 'Curiosity killed the cat'?
