(fast forwarding to a few days later as their setting up camp)

Tibarn stood up and stretched they had picked up a few basic camping items in a town they had passed through and tibarn had just finished setting up a tent for Mari. He had no need of such things preferring to sleep out in the open, not to mention with his wings he probably wouldn't even fit. But Mari was a girl and therefore needed her privacy, which he respected. He made his way over to the fire where Mari sat tending the flames and sat nearby " so Mari, how have you enjoyed the trip so far? we haven't gotten very far really, but its farther than you've been before"

Tibarn smiled " I'm glad, wouldn't want you to get bored out here" he said and looked up at the darkening sky " its been a long time since i was able to travel freely, so im enjoying it too. Not to mention i get to have the company of a lovely young lady like yourself" he said and smiled at her again

he smiled and made small talk for a while longer till the sun sank below the horizon and the sky began to darken. He blinked and whipped his head around squinting. Once he regained his bearing as far as where Mari sat and where the fire was he grew still again " ah, there goes my vision. I'm afraid i cant see much after dark, its a bit troublesome"

Tibarn shook his head, completely missing Mari's movement. Its the one big downside to being a bird, were strong and fast and can see great in the daylight but once the sun goes down i might as well be blind." he smiled and looked in her general direction following her voice more than anything " thank you, i would like that."

Tibarn nodded " its a deal then, miss Mari" he said then looked around again, seeing only black and a rather faint glow that was the campfire " we should probably get to bed, we'll want to get an early start"

he patted her on the head, nearly missing. " don't worry, my hearing is pretty good too, so even if i can't see it I'll hear it and warn you"

FAST FORWARD to much later near the end of the trip

Tibarn sighed heavily, for a while now he had been feeling nervous around Mari, and he could never figure out why. Well he had finally figured out that he had feeling for the girl, beyond those of a friend. Which complicated matters greatly, for one, he was Laguz and she was not. Such a union was taboo in his home but... he wasn't home was he? no one here really knew or cared about what was taboo in Tellius and it wasn't as if he had to tell anyone at home when he returned to take care of whatever business he needed. He was king after-all, he could do as he pleased. he nodded to himself, deciding that he would pursue her regardless. Now he had to figure out how to tell her... and for all his strength and courage in battle, the prospect of being rejected by the girl he had come to love terrified him more than anything had before.

Tibarn nodded and stood " we should be, if you would like, you can ride on my back while i fly so we can get there sooner? ill fly low so it dosent get any colder, but it will be faster than walking."
