Deep inside huh? Part of Poke thought his good side might be buried deeper then the abyss, but the other half didn't feel like buttering up things with the reaper.

Oh well, she didn't care. she followed the rest through the door.

Mitzi was still somewhat disoriented by the time Medea swept through, barely giving the assembled students time to think before urging them through the portal - or so the Reaper ghoul felt. All she had wanted, since they had broken through to rescue their kidnapped friends, was to go home. That was the point of this, right? Rescue, escape. She'd been uncomfortable with the repeated talk of revenge from the beginning. And she was even more uncomfortable with the Horsemen taking several of the Hunters with them.

When she saw Mei and Alex follow the Horsemen through the portal, she briefly considered going as well, just to stay with them, to watch their backs. That was why she had come along, to protect her friends. But she had no interest in being any more tied to Medea and whatever she was scheming, especially not until she knew more of what was going on. And she was so, so over this. She just wanted her bed, and her plushies, a chance to cry, and a chance to recover. She could ask the two of them later what had happened, surely they'd make it back to the school? And then maybe she would decide to join with the Horsemen, but she didn't like being led around by the nose, with no chance to consider her options (and more importantly, find out what was going on) before making such a big decision.

This, of course, all besides her gut feeling, which told her to stay away from whatever the Horsemen were planning. But that could just be the exhaustion talking.

Her decision made, she trudged over to the tree that held the doorway home. "I'm sorry," she found herself saying, to any of the humans who might be nearby. It didn't feel right to say it, but neither did it feel right to not say it; the Hunters had been the ones who caused all of this, but what she suspected the captured humans had in store for them... no one deserved that. Then she followed Arel back to Amityville, to home and rest, and hopefully, soon, a conversation she had put off for too long.

The soft, warm golden haze snapped out of Madison's mind so abruptly that she nearly fell over again. Her hand stretched out as if to grasp Kouki's hilt, but her fingers closed on empty air. The Horsemen - the Horsemen! Disgusting, foul - yes, she remembered now. Murderers.

And they'd taken some of her kind.

Her weapon wasn't responding - she still felt no panic, she could feel him there. He was just silent, sleeping, and refused to be woken up, not even when she direly and desperately needed him. Kouki, please, she cried out internally.

No answer.

------------------

Malodore watched the Horsemen - watched Medea - with a narrowed gaze. It would not follow her. It had not taken her 'gift', and it would not go with her now unless there was no other choice... which was not the case. It sighed with audible relief as Arel, of all people, appeared, opening another door. Another way out.

Va bene.

It gave those it saw following Medea's path a look of despair, but its own choice was clear. The plague doctor followed Arel without hesitation.

She couldn't see. Her eyes felt so heavy, it took all her strength just to open them, her eyelids fluttering a little, half-lidded. And even then she couldn't see. It was like she wasn't truly awake yet, her body still sluggishly starting to restart, like a slow-booting computer. She had sat up at some point, elbow barely supporting her upper body as she forced it off the ground, but that was the extent of her energy.

She could hear though. And Petra could hear her friend's distress.

"Jerry...?" she called uncertainly, reaching a little blindly for his arm.

At the sudden brush of fingertips against his coat, Jerry flinched, weakly thrashing out before dimly catching himself. A familiar face. White hair tipped in old dye... He blinked slowly, brows furrowed, eyes still wide with groggy panic, "P-p-petra..." That was her name. Right. Right. Petra. "They.... they took her they took her I... they... I c-can't... They took her-" His hand grabbed her wrist, clenching tightly as panic fought through the fog in his brain.

Petra's expression was more expressive than usual, as groggy as she was. Still unable to really keep her eyes open, she furrowed her brow a little in concern as Jerry stuttered her name, for a moment not understanding anything else he had to say. It didn't make sense to her addled brain, still trying to process everything which had happened, running and slurring together like wet paint; battle, barrier, Killzone, crystal... it was beginning to feel like it was just a bad dream. Perhaps she was having another nightmare, and Jerry was waking her up.

But that didn't make sense. Robert would have woken her up. He would have leaned over and kissed her eyes and murmured something soothing to help her get back to sleep. This was...

Staring up at the Sun hunter with a forced wide-eyed expression, Petra began to struggle to her feet, feeling unbearably weak as she stumbled the first time, her hand clutching Jerry's wrist even as he clutched hers. "Took who? Who'd they take?" she half-slurred, her own voice groggy and difficult to control. But his panic was infectious, shaking her forcibly from her drowsiness, and she was standing within moments, her fingers curling as tightly as she could manage around his wrist as her eyes darted around, ready to fight whoever had taken ... whoever 'she' was. The Death hunter had an inkling, just the barest sensation in the back of her mind of who it was... but she couldn't put her finger on it, couldn't coax herself to remember. It didn't matter. She was ready, they would stop them.

Reaching her hand to her throat, she felt a weak pulse as Cain denied her summons, momentarily startled.

It disturbed Jerry that despite the swirl and storm of emotions that rushed through him, names, details all blurred. As Petra stood, he tried to follow, but his legs were too weak, "T-took her..." He blinked a few times, mind scrambling to hold onto the ebbing details, "S-sasha, Took her I gotta-otta-otta- I have to- I... Roar... Roar w-won't.... took-ook-ook them... dead-ead he's dead oh G-god..."
PostPosted: Sun Jul 29, 2012 2:55 pm

The Death hunter felt Jerry try to stand next to her, attention diverted from the pentagram charm at her throat as she spun quickly towards him, reaching to catch his arms to help him. She was unsteady herself, but she had wanted to be an architect; she knew four points of contact were more stable than two. Despite how shaky they were, leaning against each other would be far more safe than on their own. Besides, she was concerned for him. The more upset he got, the more Jerry stuttered, and by the third 'otta,' she was feeling more angry than confused. It was partially irrational anger, if she was completely honest; while it was natural to feel angry at the enemy for kidnapping an ally, the way it went in her head was more like 'how dare they send Jerry back into an emotional tailspin!'

"No, Jerry, he's not," Petra replied firmly, a little uncharacteristically illogical. She didn't know if Roar, or Cain for that matter, really were dead, but at this point that wasn't going to help matters. Gripping his elbows tightly, she tried to focus her eyes with his, just so he could see how serious she was. If there was anything she was good at, it was being serious; they wouldn't let this stand, and he needed to know she was steadfast. "Cain is unresponsive as well. It's likely the effect of the crystal -- it will fade."

Reaching up to grasp his shoulder, she gave it a firm squeeze.

"Jerry. We will find Sasha. And they will pay. Make no mistake."

Jerry clung to his friend as he found his feet, eyes locked on her's if only for something solid to concentrate on.

His expression was trembling between panic and rage. "I'll k-kill them, blow them up to tiny-iny-iny-iny p-pieces, r-rip them apart..." He babbled, blinking heavily as he tried get a handle on his spinning brain. Dead. Someone was dead. He knew it. Not Roar, Roar was.... passed out. He could still feel him, that hadn't been what he meant, but it was hard to think.

A weak, frantic hum suddenly bubbled up under his breath as he sagged against her, shoulders shaking as he concentrated on his breathing.

In and out.

In and out.

Keep your head.

Madeline closed her eyes and sighed out, taking a deep breath. Gale's presence was comforting, but he seemed almost like a machine, calm and rational and quietly detailing to her how to survive. Her eyes flicked to him when she opened them again, the tension draining out of her shoulders after a moment. Thats right, gotta stay calm. She exhaled quietly and shook her head, auburn curls tossed to one side.

"Thanks, doll. I really..." Madeline laughed and shook her head, deciding articulation was not going to be her strong suit today, "Thanks for everything." She told him simply, and cracked a small smile. He seemed much more experienced, like someone who'd been doing this for a long time. A part of her was envious, but another part wondered what - if anything, - he was thinking beneath that calm of his.

Her eyes flickered to Wilson, and regaining a bit of composure, she steeled herself to the reality of it all. "I suppose so." She responded quietly, and then she raised a brow at the name, turning back to the blond - Gale, was it? "Not yet." Her lips curved upwards into a smile again. "Sorry, this is a s**t way to meet. I swear I'm a lot more fun on most days." But there wasn't much she could do about their circumstances, and her attention drifted back to Wilson when he mentioned he was alright. Physically, at least.

Blinking at the pat, she waved a hand and touched the one on her head, turning to Wilson with a cheeky smile. "Sorry, babe, didn't mean to." She said quietly. Hooking her fingers around the others wrist, she wrapped his arm loosely around her shoulder like a shawl, for him to either take away or leave there. "But - " She hesitated, glancing at the jungle that now seemed emptier than before. "What do we do now?" She asked them both. Go back to HQ? Hope all of the leaders still had their arms attached?

They could only hope for so much.

That was a little disturbing to her, hearing Jerry talk about killing. They were in a war, sure, soldiers on the side of (why did she want to say revenge...) humanity; there were going to be casualties, and each of them would kill, once, twice, perhaps a thousand times if they survived that long, but she had never thought of Jerry when she thought of the ruthless, merciless killing machines trained by Deus. They had been separate entities in her head. There was Doctor H, whose smile was sadistic and crafty and entirely corrupt, and then there was Jerry, who sang and played guitar and radiated a smile perfectly pure. They were both hunters, but they weren't at all comparable.

There were only two people, possibly three, whom she would ever break her self-imposed detachment for. Staring at him now, watching his expression contort as he tried to control himself, Petra felt a painful constriction in her chest, her heart threatening to break as he began to hum, just barely audible. The Death hunter caught him as he sagged a little, her hands sliding from his arms to encircle his shoulders, shaking though they were, pulling him closer. Absentmindedly, she reached up to stroke the hair at the nape of his neck, too concerned and angry to allow herself to feel awkward. And god help anyone else who gave them weird looks, so ******** help them, she would bite their head off so fast they would be dead before they even realized it.

"She'll be fine. We won't let them keep her for long," she murmured against his ear, secretly seething.

He slipped his hands into the front pockets of his coat, which was torn around the hemline, bloodied over one of the shoulders, and had a very nasty looking gash in the side, near his hip. It made him somewhat disappointed, considering that this coat had been brand new only a few weeks ago, and Gale felt a small surge of upset shift through him.

He pushed it away, focusing on the girl - Mads, something with Mads that sounded as though it could be Maddie - but Madison was Maddie, and he wasn't entirely sure what other name "Mads" could be short for.

Unless that was her entire name. Gale resorted to simply not deciding either way and gave the trainee a small nod in greeting.

"Gale Gentry," he said. "I'm a Death Hunter. Are you new? I don't believe I've seen you around before..."

Subtly he scrutinized her, taking in the dark, curled hair and the blase way in which she spoke. He wasn't quite sure what to think of her, but at least she wasn't falling apart - a fact Gale appreciated, since he was never really sure what to do with people who cried. He did not have the same sort of comforting skills others had in that department, after all.

Surprisingly, he cracked a smile at Wilson, coloring a little. "I would hardly say 'mature,'" said Gale with a snort, shaking his head a little, but there was a small flush to his cheeks that had nothing to do with the heat. His hair stuck wetly to his face, and Gale lifted his hands, stripping off his gloves and tucking them away so that he could push his hair away from his forehead. "More like I've just given up on...certain aspects of my personality."

His gaze flickered briefly to the girl and then to Wilson again. "Well, if you know Masky here, then I'm sure you're a great deal more fun than you would be trapped in a hot, humid, sticky jungle."

The warmth was back in his cheeks. Gale hastily continued. "But trust me - most meetings here are s**t meetings. Just something to get used to, I'm afraid."

She was at least standing now, and Gale slid his hands back into his pocket, surveying where they were. He frowned a little and tried, once more, to awaken Jinhai, but there was still silence, horrible silence, and Gale's brows drew together in irritation.

"Where the bloody hell is Caelius."

After going to see what was going on, with some of their comrades being taken by the horsemen, Deryk attempted to summon Tooley to try and see if he could save them but... his weapon was still very much asleep right now. Groaning, he just sort of slumped to the ground instead. Once more, he was pretty much only able to watch and not much else.

Worse yet, this only added to his previous thoughts of 'we shouldn't be kidnapping these kids'. It was wrong to him to begin with and now they had met retribution pretty damn hard. The horsemen were no doubt also pissed that they had blown up their lands. This was just... bad news all around. Where were the hunters even taken? Would they be able to stage their own rescue?

Would the higher ups even consider doing so?

Awkward laughter. “Ahh yeah. Um. Yeah, so this is Gale. Gale, this is Mads, uh, Madeline.” Wilson’s free hand constantly moved back and forth between the two.

He blinked at Madeline as she grasped his wrist. Wilson leaned forward when she began to wrap his arm around her shoulder. A grin tugged at his lips and he leaned a bit more against her. The feel of his arm around someone’s shoulder was familiar; it was something he could remember doing often before he became a hunter. He tightened his hold on Madeline slightly. “No need to apologize. It happens.”

Wilson gave Gale a look. “Oh really?” The blonde’s face was flushed, but he chocked it up to the jungle heat. “Given up?” The phrase brought a frown to his face and he leaned over to poke the other hunter in the shoulder. “Is that a good or bad thing? Because to me it sounds bad.” His face crinkled up at the word Masky. He shot Gale another look that roughly suggested, You think you’re so clever? Funny, very funny. But he would take the rest of that statement as some sort of compliment.

“Um. I guess we just stand here stupidly until a superior shows up,” he offered Madeline, then paused to stare intently at the younger hunter. “Caelius left us to turn into crystal statues, and you want him to show up?”

(entering)

This was all getting to be too much for the ghoul. Not long after getting there she had heard the tail end of Medea's speech, urging student and Horsemen alike to follow her into some random portal, all in the name of revenge. And with Hunter prisoners no less.

Revenge.

She was really beginning to hate that word. After all that had happened Imryn couldn't help but think that was the only reason for all of this and the students being kidnapped was just some side thing. Did the Horsemen have a hand in that as well to get the students to come here with them? What else did they have in store for the students now? The mark that had received earlier still felt foreign on her body.. this wasn't what she'd signed up for. 'Join now to receive a demon pony tattoo' wasn't on the flier. Nothing at this point could have convinced her to follow them through to the unknown, despite the bit of guilt Imryn felt at possibly leaving Mitzi in their hands if the reaper ghoul had followed them. That was a big if though.

As she turned and started towards the portal that appeared, noticing Arel poking through, a sigh of relief escaping. There was a way home. It wasn't a 'follow me if you wish to live' situation. And even more of a relief was seeing a certain purple haired reaper pop through the Amity portal before Imryn had made it there. She knew the ghoul had some common sense and it was nice to see that her instincts hadn't been wrong with this one.

With a little grin Imryn darted off across the field and through the Amity portal, setting off for home.
