Thabiti stood, looking over his shoulder to the large lion who bounded up to the group. He spoke no words, but recognized him clearly from he met the pride during the introduction of the recent Hongshan. Also from the war-games practice as one of the 'guards'. The others here were probably brighter than he was to come up with something. But he kept eyes on the group.

"Thabiti is hungry. Thabiti will climb and catch food. Miles or no. It feed us all."
At least he was getting used to the tongue.

"Damned wildebeast," Nyimak snarled, not needing to fake her anger and irritation. She wasn't known for her patience, after all, and she was pissed that she hadn't been able to make it over such as simple obstacle like a stone wall. And worse, had likely helped stir the rocks to draw over Tarsa.
But, the story was to remain on the hunt. And she was a huntress, after all. Giving a shake of her coat, she turned towards Tarsa and gave a small nod. "Hey Tarsa. . . You guys sure have slim pickings out this way. Though we didn't quite make it over this," her tail swished again in irritation, though she forced a small smile anyway.
"It would figure we'd find such a meal, only to have it get away. Part of me wonders if the rest of it's herd trail isn't just o'er yonder this wall here." She added, trying to use her knowledge as a seasoned huntress to the best of her ability. Sure, it was a damned lie, but he didn't necessarily know it. And it was the hunters and huntresses who were the experts on herds and herd movement, not guards and warriors. "It's not often to catch them far from the rest of their herd, even if it's small, so I'm certain a good meal isn't far off from our future." She smirked, letting herself lick her muzzle at the thought of food.
Giving a small snort at the stone wall, Nyimak turned back to smile lightly at the large, black lion. He was massive, and honestly the next few moments were going to be critical. At least everyone was on the same page about hunting -- now if only they could pull this off.

Aodhfin kept himself from giving a loud groan when the rocks fell and not shortly after Tarsa showed up. he then had to keep himself from wanting to face palming at the explanation that his half sister and Serkan came up with for what they all were up to. " yeah Morag wanted to do a bit of hunting. but of course she had to over do it and cause chaos just because she still getting into the swing of things." grumbling, he was acting like the highly annoyed younger half brother that had not wanted to be here in the first place. "good job Morag." rolling his eyes, he hoped that their story would hold up or they would be failing rather miserably without going very far.

Though Azulon was certain climbing the wall wouldn't be an issue for him, he hadn't managed to get over before they were found by a firekin. He managed not to look disappointed or annoyed, opting for putting on a slightly surprised, but more curious face. "It was a very large wildebeest." Azulon agreed. "So a few more of us joined in to help out." He said that more to explain the seemingly ridiculous amount of members out here, for a simple hunt. Lions were creatures that usually hunted in groups, but it seemed here firekin worked a lot on their own.

Aithne shifted herself as she landed on the other side of the wall she was trying to get herself back together, she hated jumping over things. As she did though she turned and turned toward the others. She couldn't believe some one knocked over the rocks. She rolled her eyes and then looked around at the others. She thought they probably could have made it before anyone noticed them but apparently that would have made sense. She really wanted to get her paws around the one that 'planned' all of this. She was really wondering who it was. Regardless she was in for it because of her own curiosity. And almost to act as a spy for her nephew.
The lioness was about to suggest something and then it almost appeared as if the guard appeared out of no where. She made a face at the excuses that were being made but she just looked around and then nodded in agree with with the others. "We're just trying to make everything seem like it's back to normal, and we went with her just in case something happened to her." She nodded simply as her red eye's moved to the garud's.

Everyone had moved so fast and Kooka seemed to almost be falling asleep on his shoulder. Mwako was unable to even attempt the wall before stones had fallen and alerted Tarsa to their location. A hunting party? Yes, a good idea.
Mwako'damu gave a light hearted chuckle and shook his head, "group or not, the beast had evaded us, I thought for sheer fact of wanting a large number for security would be enough, appears we don't have the leg strength to scale such things as the prey have for defense hmm?" he asked those about, trying to keep the mood light hearted.
He did not want Tarsa catching on.

Tarsa furrowed his brow suspiciously. Hunting game? All the way out here? Who did they think he was, Hraga? Hmph. It sounded like an absolutely ridiculous story! His expression turned severe. They were up to something all right! For a moment, it looked like all was for naught.
...but then they started the sobstory about helping Morag. And Tarsa immediately felt awkward. She was the one who had gotten hurt during the skirmish, wasn't she? This was some sort of...bonding...thing? Tarsa wasn't good with feelings. From the look on his face, they might as well have told him she was about to fly over the wall. He was suddenly completely unsure of what to say in response.
"Oh..." the round lion fidgeted. Feelings. He didn't get posted here to play cheerleader to anyone, but he couldn't exactly rag on someone who had helped defend the pride. She might have gotten injured in the process, but to Tarsa, that meant she wasn't a coward. "She-uh..."
By that time, Elcca had reached the top of the rock pile again. She got a grasp of the situation pretty fast, and decided to lay it on thick. "I think she's doing such a good job, don't you Tarsa?" the brazen lioness said in her best sing-songy, pitying voice. "She's so brave!"
Tarsa looked noticeably uncomfortable. "I...guess... you're doing a good job if you chased it all the way here..."
"The first step to recovery is building self confidence!"
Now Tarsa really looked like he wanted to leave. "I...guess...? Uh, I'd better check on what Hraga's...doin...with the things. I've never seen a wilderbeast climb up rocks like that though. It couldn't possibly have gotten that far."
NICE WORK GUYS. Better get moving before Hraga finds out and starts crying over such a beautiful story!

It seemed like the story of the hunting party, bonding, and the group working as one for the pride and morale had worked. Tarsa seemed to withhold himself from wanting to involve himself, which was all fine and well.
Their story was working.
Now they needed to go before any other questions were asked.
Mwako'damu made his way and moved as quick and normally as he could, to not draw attention to himself. The climb and maneuvering was a bit tricky though. Once at a stand still on the other side he caught his breath, took a deep breath and closed his eyes, gaining his focus.
Kooka looked at him questioningly and Mwako shook his head as if not to ask.
It had been too close a call, this early, way too close.
They should keep going, catch up to the 'beast' ahead.

As Tarsa left, Serkan's eyebrows went up. Well, that was easier than he thought... It had helped that everyone simply went with the story. Though this was a rather large hunting party... But all the better, right? It meant GOOD prey... "We bring back good size wildebeast so they REALLY believe..." He then turned to Morag, motioning with his head to the wall. "Come, climb on back and up wall, reach other side without falling." He'd have to be careful as he picked his OWN way up, but for the time being, helping someone else up was a bit more important. Going back to a prior thought, they were better off with all paws counted for.

With Tarsa's words, Mwako'Damu could not help but agree. They truly did have to bring back something for the pride, as they described the wildebeast as such. Though they could say the entire group ate it all, but then, what good would that serve the pride?
"Kooka," Mwako said, lokoing to his shoulder. The bird looked at him with tired eyes.
"Yes?" the bird's voice was very soft, but coming back after the screeching from before.
"Later you must find a wildebeast, or something for us to bring back, remember."
"Yes, yes, Kooka remember, Kooka tired, wake when Kooka needed, needed," Kooka said resting his eyes agagin. For lions in the night, this group was noisy.

As each of the others chimed in, Morag's expression got more and more blank, her jaw clenching and only a force of will keeping her tail from lashing. Dropping her head in what could have been embarrassment, she coughed, kneading her paws against the ground.
"Yes. That is what we are doing. Now, if you'll excuse us? We might be able to track it down." She got out past her teeth, her voice choked. Maybe he'd take it as her holding back tears... but at least he was going to let them go.
Turning, she stomped her way over to the wall and proceeded up it. It was almost laughably easy now that she wasn't trying to be discreet or quick about it. The others could follow as they pleased, or deal further with Tarsa, but she was getting the hell out of there. She gave Elcca a look when she reached the top, her face thunderous, before she went down the other side.
They had better get the information they were looking for now, or someone would be getting some bodily harm.

Thabiti chortle with a grin before making his way up the wall to join the rest of them. So it seems some of the Firekin were not so bright just as he was, and just as many were good liars. But he had to give them points for being able to go along with a story off the paw like that. Shaking his head with amusement, he climbed.
"Is Morag hurt bad?"

Elcca had no shame. The bitter look Morag tossed her was countered with a wide, almost diabolical, grin. The kind of grin that said this trip was already worth walking up and down this stupid wall twice. Let it not be said that Elcca did not feed on misery!
"That was surprisingly brilliant," she hummed once it became clear Tarsa was out of earshot. She kept her position on top of the wall to watch the rest of the group climb over. From where she was seated, she could see the faintest trace of sunlight begin to creep up over the horizon. If she was the poetic sort, she would have noted it was rather beautiful. Instead, she simply took it in as background. "I wouldn't worry about it though, from what I hear no one lauds Tarsa for intellect anyways."
Yoan settled back down on her shoulder. "Daylight is coming."
The red lioness nodded. "We'll be going through the mountains most of the day. Won't want to travel this during the night. Hopefully our friends back there won't think to check up on our hunting progress."

Morag seemed less than pelased with how things turned out. How could Mwako'Damu blame her? She was firekin, fire and pride in her being, would any one of them want the same to be said of them? True, it was to let them pass without annoyance, but still, he felt a pang of sympathy, no, not sympathy, he didn't think she'd want such a thing. He just knew that she was displeased with what had had to be said to let everyone pass.
Hopefully she would let it go...perhaps.
But would he let it go?
Doubtful.
So he wouldn't blame her is she wished to lash out later.
When someone asked if she was hurt bad, Mwako wanted to speak but held his tongue. That was for Morag to say, and he didn't want to speak wrong of anyone with not having information. Morga just seemed, annoyed, flustered, and on edge wanting to continue on.
With Elcca's words Mwako'damu wondered if they should consider sending birds back to relay how they were doing, but then again, a long trip hunting party during these times would be very ill advised, he'd suspect. "We must cover as much ground as well can, keep our eyes open and watch our footing, be careful to not leave too many imprints if possible."

Morag growled as she paced forward, not pausing to wait for anyone to catch up.
"I may have lost an eye in the ambush, but there is nothing wrong with my claws. I suggest we keep going while the guards are still busy." She called over her shoulder, her tail lashing behind her.
It was still up in the air if her injured eye would keep its sight once it healed fully, but she was NOT useless. That was part of what this trip was all about... to prove that she could still be effective, that she had lost nothing in that disastrous ambush. Come hell or high water, she WOULD make it there and back.
