۪T۫۰۪h۫۰۪e۫۰ ۪W۫۰۪a۫۰۪l۫۰۪s۫۰۪h۫۰ ۪F۫۰۪a۫۰۪m۫۰۪i۫۰۪l۫۰۪y۫۰ ᴄᴏʀᴀ had been to a few fancy parties back in the day, coming from a fairly well-off pureblood family. She'd never liked them as a girl, and had usually ended up hiding with her younger sister under tables from their parents, giggling quietly and wrinkling their dresses. However, now she was an adult, and she didn't really mind this ball. It would have been rude to turn down the invitation, and her kids really needed to learn how to behave at formal occasions anyways. And maybe, just maybe, she was looking forward to dancing with her husband. ɢᴀʀʀᴇᴛᴛ looked around cautiously. So many wizards and witches! So many wands and elaborate outfits... He was willing to bet he was the only muggle here. Well, now he finally knew what a house elf looked like... Strange but somehow endearing at the same time. One had been looking after the young children in the room they had dropped Vi and Thea off at, since the girls were both deemed far too young to be mingling with the adults. They all knew that Thea would be running around causing trouble, and while Vi might behave, she needed to socialize with children her own age. In Garrett's opinion, she was far too quiet for a six year old little girl. it wasn't normal ᴜʀɪᴇʟ tugged at his tie. He wore a tie all school year... and now he was back in one. He looked around, hoping to see someone, anyone he knew from a school. A sea of strangers stared back. Oh boy... This was going to be mind numbingly boring.... The blonde boy shoved his hands in his pockets and suppressed a groan. ᴊᴇssᴀᴍɪɴᴇ twirled in her dress, beaming. "Ohmygosh I can't believe we're at a ball! An actual ball! Look at all the dresses!" she squealed. Her brothers rolled their eyes not very subtly, but she was too caught up in the moment to notice. Well, maybe not. A sly look passed over her face. "Look at all the cute boys!" she exclaimed, glancing at the two. The reaction was instantaneous. "What cute boys?" Toby muttered darkly. "Why are you looking at boys, anyways?""Are they looking at you?!" Uriel asked in alarm, narrowing his blue eyes at any male who dared so much as glance at his little sister. Jess smirked. ᴛᴏʙɪᴀs glanced around suspiciously, before determining that no boys posed a threat to his sister remaining single until she was at least sixteen. Good. He glared at her. "You think you're sooo funny."She punched him lightly on the arm. "You know I am."ᴇʟᴇᴀᴢᴀʀ shuffled his feet awkwardly, standing in the shadows of his older siblings. He never quite fit in with their easy bantering and joking bickering. Being a middle child meant he was always dismissed as both too young and too old. He loved Thea with all his heart and Vi was really, truly, a little sister to him.... But he was ten years old, and he didn't always want to play "house" with two little girls. So here he was, too awkward to even say anything. ۪F۫۰۪a۫۰۪m۫۰۪i۫۰۪l۫۰۪y۫۰ ۪i۫۰۪s۫۰ ۪f۫۰۪o۫۰۪r۫۰۪e۫۰۪v۫۰۪e۫۰۪r۫۰

The Rich Family
Annabelle sighed. ”What?” She heard the chastising tone of her father echoing over her shoulder. Knitted brows uplifted first, long before she raised her head those few increments to look up at her father. ”Smile, mon amour, your mother would want it.” But the words rang hollow in her ears as she nodded, forced an amiable smile, and turned to keep on walking.
The music twirled all around her, it glided on the strings of harmony and fluttered down the corridor towards them. Her father, Alexander, nodded as he motioned for her to follow alongside him as they reached the ballroom. Of all the faces, she couldn’t call a single one her friend. She knew some, went to school with others, but…She sighed again, it was all she could do. In the distance, she spotted Newlyn, Jayden's little girlfriend. Farther along, she spotted the nurse from St. Mungo's and frantically tried not to cross gazes with her. The last thing she needed was for her father to find out the truth about what had happened...
A house elf squeaked their entrance, and she normally would have glowered at that, her surname, her title. But she just couldn’t bring herself to care, not now. All of this time, she’d never told her father, she never told him anything. He was addressed with an owl from the Cloud Family, digressing their concerns for uprooting on such short notice, but nobody could blame them. Devin might as well be dead, all of his older brothers and sisters had died in a car wreck several years ago, and, word was, Jayden had died too, and it was through that that the Cloud family kindly apologized, lamented in not having their houses joined, and that was it. Nothing. Nothing to ease her pain, nothing to distract her, she knew Devin had been in St. Mungos shortly after she had, she also knew that he’d been moved, but to where, she didn’t dare ask. All of her sanity and paranoia beseeched her, demanded that this, that all of this was a trap, a rouse! It couldn’t be coincidence! It just couldn’t…
She wore black, it was all she could do not to drown herself under a black veil and cry; a widow before she ever even walked down the aisle.
How perfectly cursed.
How perfectly Annabelle.

Now where did I put that wand?Grayson looked over as he felt a tap on his shoulder, and blinked as he beheld Amata, wearing something that really made him feel like he rolled out of bed that morning. He smiled, actually smiled, and looked sheepishly at the woman. "Wow, you look... Well, you make me look like an idiot tonight, that's for sure. I didn't know if you were going to come tonight or not." If anything, he would have thought he wouldn't make it tonight. Huh. Funny how things work that way, wasn't it? If it wasn't him spacing, it was him studying or being at dig sites. He did wonder what had gotten a strange bug up his rear though, since he couldn't for the life of him remember when the last time he paid attention to anything besides history or classes was.
He rubbed the back of his head, feeling awkward, and probably like the biggest geek ever at this point. He however did look around a bit, thinking. "So, I see that the ball seems to be a smash. Wouldn't happen to be a bit hungry or thirsty though, are you?" With that, his stomach rumbled, reminding of how much, or how little, he had eaten that day. He looked a bit sheepish. "Umm, maybe I might be hungrier than you are..."---------------------------------- Location: Ballroom State: Nervous OOC: ... ----------------------------------

Amata flushed ever so slightly at the look he was giving her. She tried to cover it with a small chuckle, her eyes glinting teasingly. "No more so than usual, Grayson. Besides, it's not as though anyone will recognize you; I'm not sure anyone but your students are used to seeing your actual face. I daresay it oftentimes looks like you've got a book attached to the front of it." Oh, that was brilliant, outright insult him, why don't you? She reminded herself that she was just teasing, that it was no worse than something she'd say to any other friend, but with him, sometimes it was very hard not to worry about saying the wrong thing. She often missed the days when their conversations has been purely academic; debating theories and opinions was so much less stressful than actually conversing for the sake of doing so. And there was a much lesser chance of her saying something foolish... or at least, something foolish that would bother him. She did rather feel like, at times, his intellect greatly outshone her own. Not that she cared if he were smarter than she, it was just sort of disconcerting for someone used to being the smart one. All her school friends had been in her own house, and not a single one of them had cared for their studies nearly as much as she. Still, she would much rather feel like a fool for not knowing something than for saying something truly foolish. A gap in her knowledge could be filled. A foot in her mouth, however, was rather hard to remove. She flashed him a smile, somewhat nervous. "You look nice, Grayson," she told him, trying to cover up and feelings of self-conciousness she might have inspired. And it was true; he did look rather good. A bit underdressed, perhaps, but then, she rather liked it. She tried to picture him in a proper suit or tux and found it rather difficult... it just didn't seem natural for him. Not that she thought it would look bad, per say, just... unusual. She wondered just what sort of event would actually get the man to wear a suit and hastily had to change tracks on her train of thought.
Luckily, he seemed to have found something to move the conversation. Food would be lovely; food would be an excellent distraction, and give her a moment to compose herself, get her thoughts straight. And besides, she was famished; she didn't think she'd eaten all day, actually. She'd been far too nervous, contemplating this very situation. She'd second-guessed her dress choice and done her hair at least three different ways and tried on every piece of jewelry she owned, and all the while wondered if he would even notice what she were wearing, if he were even there. But, he was here, and he had noticed... her cheeks pinkened again. "I'm actually quite hungry." As if to punctuate that point, her own stomach growled, and she flushed deeper. Since when was she so very awkward? Particularly around men; she'd always had a fairly easy time with them before. But this wasn't 'men,' this was Grayson, a man, and a very odd one at that. She spent more time than she'd care to admit to herself wondering how much of this awkwardness was him being uncomfortable with her and how much was just her reading too much into his typical obliviousness. She could never tell; it was quite frustrating at times. She glanced towards the food. "Erm... shall we?" she asked, already moving towards the table, assuming that he would follow, trying very, very hard not to watch him over her shoulder. If she were honest with herself, she was rather enjoying the look he'd gotten in his eye when he'd first seen her. It'd been a rather long time since the willowy blonde had felt particularly pretty. The compliment was greatly appreciated, and giving her butterflies.

Landon Price Former Hufflepuff Muggle Studies Professor Location: Brighton's Estate “I could imagine that.” Thinking about it Landon hadn’t actually taken the class when he was a student at Hogwarts. “There aren’t too many taking it now a days either. However you do have a point teens today really do know a thing or two at blending in.” he agreed thinking back to how he was as a teen. Maybe he was a poor example since he lived for magic even if it hadn’t been real he was all for it being that way. Luckily it turned out to be a crazy idea after all. Landon lightly nodded. “Yes very much so… I actually played keeper from my second year all the way to through school.” He answered her. “Well if it makes you feel better it took me quite a bit for me just to stay balanced. Should have seen me when I first was in the air fell right off of the broom and hit the ground luckily I didn’t get that far off the ground. Just imagine the mess I would have been in if I had of been.” Landon told her trying to admit that he wasn’t perfect off the bat at flying. ‘Sir Fluffytail…’ Landon thought with a small chuckle. At first didn’t really know what to say about what Germaine had said but he had to admit she was awfully creative with the name. “I must admit that’s a creative name. I’m sure he lives up to his name.” he told her somehow he just knew she wasn’t joking about it. ‘Of course he did it’s a Persian they have fluffy tails.’ Landon mental beat himself up over the stupidity of what he had just said. “It’s definitely better than deciding to name a pet frog Green because that just so happens to be its color.” He told her honestly. Landon had zero creativity when it came to naming pets. Shaking his head at Germaine’s next question Landon wondered just one thing. “How did you ever come up with that name?” he asked her. It was certainly unique compared to every other name people picked for their pets. Status: Sir Fluffytail...? With: Germaine OOC: ---((Outfit in pic))

Location: Brighton Estate David certainly wasn’t used to getting a compliment on his playing from others or at least when they weren’t Shayna or Remy. “Thanks I’m not near as good as you and Elli though.” He admitted. They had at least one more year of experience on him. If anything he could certainly learn from the two McHalen twins. David should have been expecting that someone would ask him about whether he was upset at Elli for being promoted to captain. “Nah I’m not angry about it, if I was I probably wouldn’t be over here talking with you guys.” He had to admit if he was upset about it he wouldn’t be talking to Elli or her sister. “Besides my Elli can help us get on the board with a win next year.” David told Ver before looking over at Elli. “No pressure or anything.” He added with a smile. “Hopefully things will be less complicated than last year…” he said thinking about how just about every player on the Gryffindor team went into a comatose state for the year. “Speaking of which… How’s Cam doing Elli?” he asked her curiously. David hadn’t really talked to him even when he wasn’t out cold so he had no idea how his teammate was doing. Status: Maybe this won't be boring... Location: Brighton Estate “No problem.” Chloe would be there for her friend no matter what. “Yeah I do.” She said in agreement. No wonder Newlyn said her cousins were a lot like her and her sisters. They had practically the same life but at least her uncle didn’t hate his kids because of his wife’s death. Surprisingly enough he could have had a reason to considering it was the birth of the youngest Grace that took her life. Despite that difference both sister groups practically had copycat doubles. Chloe was kind of unsure how Newlyn would take the whole relationship conversation but considering the alternative she understood why she talked about it rather easily. Jayden after all was no long with them sadly and she knew it really took a toll on her best friend. “Thanks Newlyn. To be honest I kind of blurted it out outside the great hall at the beginning of last year.” After she’d done that Chloe really didn’t believe he’d hang with her after that but apparently she was wrong. “I suppose you have a point there not that I was ever keeping track on when you tell me things.” Chloe told her. Siobhan sighed when her eldest asked just what there was to do. Of course they were bored; fancy parties were hardly the favorite place for any child. But, there'd been no one to babysit, and Siobhan had been too honored by the invitation not to go. Andi, the one member of the family who might've been expected to pass on the invitation, had been the one with the connection that'd lead to their receiving it, and had actually seemed quite eager to go. So, the children had been rather stuck. Ah, well, She was sure they'd figure something out. Children were creative; if they tried, they could find fun in anything. She ruffled his hair, giving him a small smile. "I'm sure you can figure something out, sweet. Maybe someone from your year will be here, and you can talk to them? There look to be at least a few children your age." She certainly hoped that he could find someone to talk to, to socialize with. Maybe play with, provided they didn't get too rowdy. Perhaps he could even as a pretty girl to dance; she thought she actually might like to see that.
When Aedan suggested she thank the hosts, Siobhan flushed a bit, but she nodded. She didn't actually know the hosts, having been invited as a member of Andi's family, but she could figure it out. There was a pair by the door; that was probably a good place to start. She headed that way, thinking that one of the two looked like he might be Lukas Brighton. He certainly seemed to have taken on the persona of a host, and matched what she recalled of Andi's descriptions of the man. She approached him, smiling widely, noting the pair that was already with him. When the woman in purple began walking away, seemingly expecting the darker-haired man to follow, Siobhan extended a hand in greeting to Lukas. "Hello, I'm Siobhan Lowery, Andrea's sister-in-law. I wanted to thank you, on behalf of my family, for the invitation." She tittered a bit nervously, not entirely sure what the protocol was for this. Her family was old, yes, but it was hardly distinguished or noble, at least not when compared to the Brightons. It'd been a long, long time since they'd been wealthy enough to throw such an extravagant ball.

Damien noticed Dom's sudden distress after his friend made the suggestion that they go to stand near the food, an area which was fairly clear of people at the moment. Honestly, Damien hadn't intended for them to go wandering the home or anything like that (he was still the son of a modern nobleman, after all), but rather that they do just as Dom had suggested, go somewhere less crowded... where he was away from the watchful eyes and listening ears of their parents. He wondered what had Dom so jumpy about the food, and then realized... Grace. Right. Damien realized that her particular situation presented something with which he wasn't prepared to handle. A vampire was something entirely out of his realm of knowledge, at least in regards to manners. Would food... offend her? Bother or disgust her? He wouldn't have thought so, but Dom's response made him wonder...
Thankfully, Grace seemed entirely unphased by the suggestion, actually teasing Dom a bit, though Damien wasn't sure if it were because he'd neglected her lack of desire or need for food, or because the Slytherin had a hearty appetite. It could be either; he had no idea. But, Michelle was already walking towards the food. Damien shrugged a bit and, arm on Marina's, followed after her, escorting his girlfriend with him... mostly because he was unwilling to relinquish her. They hadn't been apart for very long, but after seeing her every day in classes at the very least, if felt like ages. He leaned over and gave her a quick, chaste kiss on the cheek as they walked. "Love you," he said, his voice a bit rough. He'd have to convince her to dance with him. She looked entirely too good in that dress. He needed something to let off some steam.

Wesley nodded as Michael spoke of Grace's distance. He didn't quite know how to relate, but he had some semblance of an idea what it was like. Damien had never been particularly open with him before going away to school; Wesley now felt as though he might have made his son view him as some sort of distance, imposing figure rather than a real father. But, even with what little connection they'd had between them, seeing him when he'd returned from his first year... that single thread that had connected them seemed to have snapped. His son being so disturbed had wounded him greatly, even more so because there was nothing he could do for him. It was why, when Professor Harlowe had suggested the Penseive, he'd jumped on the opportunity. He'd have done anything to be able to be there for his son at that moment.
He smiled when Michael accepted the dinner invitation, clapping him on the arm. "Excellent. Any preference on the fare? Brownie is quite skilled, and I think she'll appreciate the chance to get to cook for a group again." The former Slytherin recalled how happy Brownie had been to cook for the Aldreds, and hoped that she had it in her to summon that same pep for this occasion. She'd been rather out of sorts... and with good read. Dahlia had done a number on her. He was thankful that he'd arrived home when he had, or... he didn't even want to think of that.
Wesley's eyes trailed the ballroom slowly, taking in all those attending. He noticed Professor Harlowe, looking quite lovely in a deep purple gown, and smiled a bit. She looked well, then. Damien had said she'd seemed depressed during the school year. She didn't seem so now, however, so whatever had been bothering her must have been sorted out. As his eyes continued to look over the guests, he noticed a rather lovely woman speaking to their hosts at the entrance. Dressed in a lovely red gown, accessorized with gold (a Gryffindor, then, he thought, somewhat amused), and with hair the color of wheat. He'd always been rather partial to blondes... this, however, was different from Dahlia's locks, which had been almost white. This was a lovely soft golden hue. He caught her eye, and smiled ever so slightly, inclining his head. He then turned back to Michael, his expression changed, less formal. Not having his wife with him tonight was surprisingly freeing, actually. He wouldn't have to listen to her go on about those in attendance, look at her sneering at those of anything but pure bloodlines. He might actually be able to enjoy himself for once.

Drusilla tilted her head a bit, smiling, her eyes far away, though this time she was, for once, recalling a true memory, and not a vision. "I would say so. She seemed quite upset for the rest of the night. We didn't stay long after that..." She listened as Lulu described her and Colin's stances on parties, somewhat amused at Lulu's claim of having 'tricked' her brother into coming. How exactly did one do such a thing? By saying they were going somewhere else, perhaps? Or tricking them into make a promise before they knew what they were promising? It seemed rather underhanded, but then... Colin would at least enjoy his time with the Headmistress... now the question was, would he still be returning to them with drinks...
Drusilla couldn't quite appreciate her friend's enthusiasm over shopping, but then, she'd never had a girl friend to go shopping with. Actually, she'd very rarely gone shopping at all. Her mother had hired a tailor to make all her clothes, or had purchased them herself, while Drusilla stayed at home. Dru realized that she'd spent a rather large portion of her life being left at home while others did things for her. Her mother seemed more and more like she'd wanted to keep Drusilla locked up tight and away from other people. It wasn't a comforting notion. Still, she smiled as Lulu began planning an excursion and subsequent sleepover for them, somewhat amused. These were things that, as far as Drusilla knew, grown women did not typically get quite so excited over. But, Lulu seemed rather childlike in her wonder, and Drusilla had never gotten to really be a child... so perhaps they were a perfect pair. She nodded in agreement, though her expression wasn't quite so excited. "That would be lovely, I think. Although, ghosts or not doesn't really matter; it's not as though Hogwarts doesn't have plenty of them floating about." She paused, her head tilting to the other side. "I rather like spiders, actually. They're quite misunderstood. And their webs are quite pretty... pretty little spirals, traps for the nasty flies and things... I almost had a pet spider once, but mummy wouldn't let me. She didn't like them either... but it was fine, I had plenty of spiders anyway our house was quite full of them, if you looked... especially in the attic..." The Seer was gone now, far off in her own mind. She stopped talking and simply stared, her eyes moving as though she were watching something unfold. After a moment, she shook her head, smiling again. "Sorry, drifted off there for a bit. Oh! But I know I drifted off, that's good, right?" She was suddenly quite proud of herself; typically when she had such a moment she didn't even realized she'd missed anything until someone told her.

Once she might have cracked a sarcastic joke about him and food, but maturity is a wonderous thing. So instead she just kept quiet, not before blinking in surprise at Damien's sudden kiss on her cheek. "Hm? You just want me to dance with you, don't you Edgeworth?" she mocked lightly, before returning his kiss with one of her own. "Love you more." she promised, before wincing and adjusting one of her heels. She gave her boyfriend a dark, melodramatic, "look at how I'm sacrificing my poor feet for you" look, then turned to the others. Making conversation. Right. Where were Hufflepuffs when you needed them? "So... how's everyone's summer been? I'm trying to get a head start on NEWTS studying, but, er, that's probably just me." she finished ratherly lame. Wow. She needed to practice talking to people other than her boyfriend, whom she could just snog if conversation dried up, and her friends, who could probably talk for hours. A hero is one who knows how to hang on just one minute longer No more denying, I've got to face it Won't close my eyes and hide the truth inside If I don't make it, someone else will Stand my ground It's all around, getting stronger Coming closer, into my world I can feel that it's time for me to face it Can I take it?

Now where did I put that wand?Grayson followed Amata, feeling a bit sheepish about hte fact that the other professor seemed to have him pegged as far as his reading habits were concerned. He was certain he would hate to be the one that ended up being an unknown because he always had a book in front of his face, though that seemed inevitable because of his love for books. Well, if anything, he figured he would always have something to occupy himself. Though, with recent events, he really felt as though he should be more aware of what occurred around himself. Who knows, he might have been able to help locate some of those rune circles he'd heard the staff had found around the school. Curse of being a muggleborn, he supposed. "I don't always have my face in a book. I daresay at the digs I'm usually covered in dust and dirt instead of books." He grinned, knowing that he was particularly engrossed when he was at dig sites. He blamed a lot of that on the fact he was too interested in history for his own good.
When they got to the table, he looked at the selections available and grabbed a plate and put a bit of this and that on it and set about starting on what he picked up. He hadn't quite payed attention to what he grabbed, to be honest, and it showed on his plate. However, Grayson wasn't a picky eater, and actually enjoyed a wide variety of foods. He looked over to Amata, and after swallowing, he looked over at Amata again. "So how's the summer been? I know I've heard through owls how you've been doing, but it's not quite the same through post as it is in person, I think." Part of him suspected that it was due to him being unconscious for over nine months, but he couldn't complain too much, given that he was still alive. He was surprised that being unconscious for that long hadn't killed him, though. Though, knowing him, he'd just pull a Professor Binns and teach as a ghost. ---------------------------------- Location: Ballroom State: Nervous OOC: ... ----------------------------------
