Echo decides to give the spell one more try. She swishes, flicks, and says "Wingardium Leviosa!"
Good enough for a school broom! It's the best she's done, so Echo leaves to finish her CoMC homework.

Willow's ears perked up at "extra credit" and she now take a few minutes to grab a pile of tiny test brooms and try the spell. The broom flies alright; straight into the floor. "A backfire?!" she says, a little stunned at the sudden movement in the opposite direction.

Unhappy with this result, Willow tries again, trying to get the right flow of emotion, like she did before. "Wow." She says as the broom sinks further into the stone with force. "I hope they can fix that..."

The exact same effect. Perhaps it's the way I am doing the swish and flick! She thinks. She concentrates hard on her motion and pronunciation as she tries again. "Wingardium Leviosa!" It's a beautiful cast, as far as she is concerned. "At least it's out of the stone!" She giggles as it hovers.

Elated by her success, and convinced that her movement was wrong all along, she tries to cast an even better spell. The second broom lifts slightly, but doesn't do very much floating, and certainly not as high.

That didn't float near as well! Thought Willow. She decided to attempt one more pass. You have to have five to get extra credit anyway. Perhaps it was pronunciation that lacked. "Wingardium Leviosa!" she said, trying to focus all at once on everything she had learned so far.
Nothing at all happens to the third broom, leaving her a little puzzled. Perhaps I'm overthinking it? She wonders.

R0CKKK Having heard about the extra credit assignment, Echo waltzes into the Charms tent and grabs a broomstick to practice. She takes her wand, does a swish and flick (perhaps a little harder than necessary) and says "Wingardium Leviosa!"
Echo is immediately lifted off her own feet, while the broom remains on the ground. gonk

for all those who did the wingardium leviosa spell instead of the hovering charm (which in the books and web pages didnt give an incantation) you didnt get any points and continueal use of the wrong spell will result in the loss of house points as per the rules ont he first page

Amanda walks over to the pile of brooms laid out by the professor. Placing on eon the floor she stretches her had above it and exclaims, "Up!"
Nothing at all happens....hmmm

Right! Amanda says while rubbing her hands together. Lets give that another shot, shall we? Standing straight Amanda extends her hand over the broom. Up!
The charm backfires and Amanda floats into the air a bit! Whoa, whoaa, whoaaa! Thud! That....was Not graceful! Amanda says as she looks around to see if anyone noticed.

Getting a bit cross Amanda stands up and brushes herself off. Humph! Glaring at the stubborn broom reaches out again. Up!!
eek Amanda stares at the space where her broom used to be..... sweatdrop
Where did that...how did I.....I mean, it was just a....oh bother!

After somehow turning her broom into a child's toy Amanda approaches the pile and proceeds to grab another. She backs up an appropriate distance, takes a deep breath, looks at the broom and says, "Up!"
Looking around and back at the broom Amanda realizes that, again, nothing has happened...Shaking her head she straightens up and prepares for another go.

Well...fifth times a charm right? Or was that third? Heavens, either way, this time it's going to work! Amanda looks at her broom, willing it off the ground. She reaches her hand above it. "Up!"
Whoa! Whoooaaa!, Thud! Amanda falls to the ground after having floated in the air for the second time. gonk
