The king nodded to the other. "Rise and I will lead you to water..." He moved forward, away from the other male, giving him room. "Abit late to roar now I'm afraid...though...don't make the mistake again...should I have been less kind and more ruthless a ruler, you would be a bloody pulp on the grass." He moved toward the oasis, his muscles rippling through his legs as he did so. "Follow me."

Nuri rose to his feet and followed shakily. On other occasions he would have seemed like shadows and ghosts swirling through the grass, but tonight it was all he could do to keep up with Ling. "Hm, I thought I would at least offer," Nuri grinned lightly to himself. He looked around and recognized vaguely the terrain. "This land never used to be claimed by lions," he thought aloud, "you must be a new king... wait, I know who you are!" Stopping dead in his tracks he grinned brightly. "I remember you! We met when you were a cub. Let's see, what was your name... Ping...no...Bling, Ding, Fling, Bing, Ming...no, no...Ling!" Then, with all that chatter, Nuri broke down into a coughing fit and bent over his front legs. "Ow..." he rasped.

Ling stopped in his stride. his muscles in his shoulders tenseing as he heard the other butcher his name. He took a deep breath, rounding on the other male his eyes dark. "Yes...Ling...and I thought you looked familiar, though I must say...I hardly remember you.." He turned again, walking to the water's edge. "You may drink from here. This bank of the water is under my control, nearby is ruled by a king by the name of Karver. You are on Pride territory all over this area...caution is key."

"Well I'm not surprised, you were a cub after all." Nuri gladly drank the water, feeling it cool him and soothe his throat. When he was finished he dunked his who head in. When he came back up he did not even bother to shake it off. The water seeping through his mane and dripping down his shoulders was wonderful. "Well, I probably won't be here very long. Adult males aren't very welcome outside their families, now are they? I remember you because I've always been on the outside and don't have that many people to remember. If you let me go back the way I came, I'll just continue on my way."

"You are a wanderer by trade I see..." He nodded and walked back with the other male. The more he talked, the more Ling wanted to listen. "There are few...that will take in an adult male. The fear that they will challenge for rule is great." He held his body high, regal like in posture. "However, there are also those...such a I. That are willing to take a chance on a male...provided...they take each day as it comes." He chuckled and moved onward.

"Hmph, well I have no desire to lead a pride," Nuri grumbled. Then with a chuckle looking at Ling, "too many rules to remember. Though I wouldn't mind a place to myself, where I could look up at the stars night after night without having to look over my shoulder." He looked skyward at the stars, his only companions for most of his life, and smiled.

Ling sighed. He knew all too well about what it was like to want a place for peace. For shelter. He looked to the other male and turned, facing him. "I would welcome you with open arms..I can see you are no threat...and if you were you would not be a large one. you are kind, and wise...stay with us the night...if you find that this is not your calling...then leave come daybreak." It was an invitation, a large one at that. Ling was taking a risk, one that could cost him his pride if his judgment were wrong.

Nuri looked back down and stared at Ling in disbelief. "Well... I'd be delighted to stay! Thank you, even if it is just for one night, it's more than I could hope from most prides. You should know my name... It's Nuri," he smiled.

"Nuri..." He repeated the name, commited it to his memory. "You are welcome for the night. Come morning we shall see what the kittens think of you..." He chuckled and lead the other male to the cave. He took the long route, twisting and turning in his path, making certain to confuse the other male before leading him to the cave. Once there, he waited for the other to enter before he himself did the same.

"The...kittens?" Nuri watched Ling curiously and followed, quickly becoming lost as they twisted and turned through the brush. With a few glances upward however, he was able to keep his general bearings. Eventually they made it to the cave from earlier. Or, at least, a cave. "Thanks," he said quietly once again as they made it to the mouth of the cave and entered. The last thought he had before falling asleep was how amazing it was to actually be able to sleep in peace...

As the new day broke, Nola yawned and streached once she woke. She then stood up and walked around the others who slept. There was another male lion laying there sleeping. ~Well thats odd...~ thought the little cub as she tiptoed to the mouth of the cave. She looked out at the rising sun and smiled ready for a new day.

Ling awoke as the heat of the morning began to warm his fur. He yawned, his large teeth catching light. He Rose from the ground and moved to the enterance of the cave. He took note that Nola was allready awake and smiled brushing against her once as he passed her. "Good morning..."

Nuri stretched and yawned, slowly coming to himself. At first he was disoriented and could not remember where he was. A cave... with lions? Jumping to his feet, he looked around quickly. But these were just a bunch of babies! He relaxed then, wondering where all the adults were but happy that he was trusted to stay with them alone. He stretched his shoulders again, heading toward the mouth of the cave. There he found a very young, pale-green cub sitting by herself. "Hey there," he whispered, hoping not to wake anyone. "My name's Nuri." It was then that he saw the contrasting colors of Ling's fur as the morning sun shone upon it. "He let me stay the night. Good morning," he said to Ling.

Nola looked at them both and blinked. "Good morning." Looking at Nuri she nodded a little. "Welcome to our pride." She looked back to the scene of the sun accenting into the sky. "What shall I do today? Ling is there something you want me to do?" She wanted to earn her keep in this budding pride and the best way in her mind was to start young.

Ling smiled at the little cub and thought for a moment. "You could start by waking the others. That would be a good job for you little early riser." He turned to look at Nuri. "Good morning. I trust you slept well?" He sat back on his haunches and watched the intereaction between the male and Nola.
