(( Entering ))

Arriving shortly after the others, Ava stood back and kept watch as a battle raged on between a cloaked man, and the students. Making sure not to get caught up in the middle of the fight, Ava kept her back pressed to the wall. She wasn't about to intervene--she had no idea what was going on in the first place. So for now, the most she could to was remain where she stood. But something was off about that reaper..

It was true. Rowly had just disobeyed a direct order from Bella. Now he had a sore cheek to show for it. Which actually wasn't so bad considering Bella could probably do more then a friendly smack. That was probably why he grinned instead of groaned after the smack.

"Your right," Rowly's voice was smaller trying to actually be a good puppy this time around. "Better them than us."

(( ENTERING ))

Vanth tried to focus on the festival that day. She really did. But even she couldn't overlook the fact that there were far fewer people cleaning up that day than ever. It didn't take much thinking to figure out where everyone had gone off to. And after she had expressly warned them all through the art of flyers! What a mess.

She got there nearly at the end of the group, strained to see and hear what was occuring. There was a flash of blue, and then everything started going to hell.

It was the defenders who seemed to take the brunt of the attacking. They were always the ones to attack first. But surely this was a complete misunderstanding. There was no escape, though, with the way blocked and students jumping to the offensive all over the place. Vanth shrank back while Janus stood in front of her like a large furry shield.

"Sophie, look!" She was alongside another DETH member, at least. The red blood and white coat did not go unnoticed to Vanth, who subconsciously had an eye out for such minor details. The blood trail had led to scraps of the same thing. Was this a Reaper? Or...

Regardless, she had to do something.

"Wait, stop, please! Don't hurt them!" Vanth elbowed her way to the front. Suddenly it was much less difficult to get near the mysterious hooded figure when she wanted to. "There's no need for us to fight! We're all FEAR!"

The young grim reaper began to shiver a little despite herself, as she addressed the hooded enemy. Even Janus looked uneasily at her. What could they be looking for... if it was treasure, there was loads of that in the cave. It was unlikely they were searching for some lone necklace in a sea of cursed jewels. No, there was another cloak, with blood as red as theirs, and cloth as white as they concealed, and it wasn't treasure they found with the remains. Maybe they could make this right. Even Professor Quibble didn't know what the thing they found was. Maybe it did rightfully belong to this reaper. This didn't have to end in bloodshed... over a mistake DETH might have made.

"What you need... is it a block of stone?" She held up her hands to demonstrate the size of the find DETH members had carried away in secret the other night. "W-with a sword... carved in it..."

This was just stupid. It was obvious it was useless to fight this guy. If they focused more on interrogation they'd have answers.

But Matt had no intention of voicing himself to the group. Most were too bull headed to listen.

Rowly's gentle acceptance made Bella smirk, and she scooched closer, flopping onto his stomach and watching her phone very carefully, waiting for any kind of response. She kept sneaking a glance at the were penguin, until finally she closed her phone for a minute, leaned in, and dropped a kiss on his lips.

"Good boy."

Ava was here! Zeke cupped his mouth with a hand to call her, thankful she was standing around like him, Skylar and Murdoch.

"Avaaaaa, you're looking gorgeous today. Why don't you come here and sit next to me? Of course, with Skylar, we can make a campfire of how to make sense of this information for Prof."

Having information was quite important.

"Or you could sit in my lap."

Or this was important.

His eyes opened wide when he felt her lips brush against his in a kiss. He was so stunned, figuratively and literally, that he was unable to fully return the favor. As fast as it had come the kiss was gone and the moment was now moving forward. Bella still laid on top which made the kisses lasting effect linger even longer.

He was not bashful. There was no blush, but he was stunned and smiling. The good boy remained quiet only giving her a smile.

Damn it. Bella was probably the most distracting thing from a psychotic hobo reaper or anything there ever was. Rowly seemed to forget the danger the two were in. Maybe call it hormones or maybe call it - well hormones. Rowly's mind was on her.

Despite her wishes, he risked raising his head, best he could, and sneaking a kiss on her lips. It was a soft and quick sneak. Gentle like silk. He was slow before the embrace of the two lips was broken. Being good was kind of hard when you had Bella on top of you.

Bella's eyes were on her phone when Rowly leaned forward enough to give her another kiss, and she tilted her head just enough to catch it, one side of her lips tilting up in amusement.

"Got you hooked already." She teased him. "Kissing me in the middle of the whole student body while they fight for their lives." Hadn't she just done the same? "You're pretty terrible, Rowly." She snapped her phone shut again, and settled her chin on his chest. "I like terrible."

Yep. There was a fight going on around them, and they'd completely forgotten about it. They were going to regret it.

"Wait what?"

Skylar could only stair at the hyena, unsure of how he should react. Not to mention stunned that Zeke was doing nothing at all to break up the fight. What did he plan on doing? Watch? Murdoch too, why were they just sitting around? And what did he mean the stranger might not be a reaper? What else could he possibly b---

"Avaaaaa"

Oh jeez. Here we go again.

Still trying to get over his momentary shock, the gargoyle simply stared hopelessly back and forth between Zeke and now Ava.

"You STILL haven't given up on her?"

((Entering!))

Sophie did indeed look.

The little Mirror Ghost was currently all about backing up Vanth, literally. She only paused long enough to stare at the way the flyers were ignored; that was such a pity! They were beautiful flyers. Like Vanth she noticed that it was the known Defenders that were starting this whole mess with the cloaked stranger, and like the other ghoul she was sure this was just a misunderstanding.

She peeked out from behind Vanth - who was offering up the knowledge of the tablet to the mysterious one. Would it be a bad thing, to offer to give it back? Quibble did seem particularly interested in it. But on the other hand...in the name of stopping blood shed, she was sure the Professor wouldn't mind handing it over.

"We can get it for you, if you are...!" She added onto Vanth's stuttering offer, her black eyes wide behind a mass of dishevelled black hair.

Murdoch nodded at Zeke's assessment, "Yeah. We've been at this school for years, but he acts like the one with the home advantage. The question is why is toying with them like this?" Making room for Ava and Skylar, he murmured, "He's not letting us go. And the battle is a total sham."

"I guess I am pretty terrible," There was a bit of pride in there with the way he said the word terrible. The want to be terrible even more was rising but the were penguin controlled his hormones a little and resisted. As hard as that might be. She was on his chest . How often did a guy have the pleasure of having a beautiful fallen angel on their chest?

It was a pretty damn rare thing as far as Rowly was concerned.

"You know theres something horrifying in the way you make me feel," There was a serious look. "But. I like it."

It was true though. The two were probably going to regret not paying attention when trouble was happening around each turn.

At the end of a battle, at the end of a long struggle, overpowered, confused, and alone that help would always come. Help, in the form of friends, allies, help in the form of themselves, the reason they were Halloween, the reason they were Fear themselves, Fear that continued to face its own element and grow-

- Yet one cannot grow without learning their lesson.

For some the fall was harder than others, a sting of pride, a flash of confusion. A moment of panic, where they questioned everything they fought for. That very single second, where an arc of brilliant light, swept towards the students, where they braced themselves for the impact -

- That practically tore them apart, plastering them to the ground like boneless rag-dolls. Puppets. Toys to be tested and played with.

The greater pain for many was the fall in pride.

"What are you fighting for?" The Reaper's weapon hummed, louder, almost an odd song, a lullaby that encroached the student's senses, invading their defenses relentlessly. Their bodies rebelled against them, arms and legs crippled on the ground. Their heads refused to raise themselves in defiance.

They were helpless.

"What are you fighting for?" The Reaper repeated, quiet voice stinging to those who fought back. "Is it power from the cave? You should know better as you are Fear: power does not come from the cave, the water, nor the trinkets inside. To grasp at true power you need to accept it first, acknowledge its existence-"

The pressure increased, just slightly for those who continued to struggle, and barely noticeable at all for those who watched, curious, a soothing feeling that seemed to unify with their Fear, promising more.

- " And another new possibility entirely. You were students perhaps, once, but now you make your own choices. You can choose to continue to swim, hope that someone notices you, hope that you too may one day fight the good fight, or you can take the opportunity given to you, and only to you." There was no need to explain what he was talking about. "Greed, gold, is easily satisfied, but power can only come to those who seek it."

Perhaps the Reaper's goal from the very start had never been to make enemies. Perhaps he did have the right intentions after all.

Perhaps the ones who were admittedly wrong were the students who had invaded the cave, invaded and attacked the Reaper and then claimed their justice in ignorant words and half-learned truths. If this discovery indeed was Amityville's, then why was it kept a secret?

"I am not an unreasonable person," the Reaper, if they were one at all, began, nodding to Vanth and Sophie, "I do not ask for your continued assistance or for you to follow a path you would rather not take. All I ask is for an exchange and return of the things you have taken from me. Take the time to gather what you need. Forget about the cave, return the items you have taken, the treasure, the greed, the unquenchable curiousity for what is not yours, and I will kindly leave, without another word."

And finally, long moments later, the humming stopped.

A loud crash, and then the floor being ripped apart tile by tile as a new path was paved. The exit. He was letting them leave.

"The choice is always yours to make. I will wait for those who wish to return what is mine at the gate of the Weeping Forest exactly an hour from now. You may ask for nothing, you may indeed in return, ask for something greater." The Weeping Forest, that continuously changed shape and form, a most clever way of concealing oneself. "All I ask for those who hide is that you do not visit the cave again."

These were very clear cut instructions that asked to be obeyed. It asked for obedience and servitude, and it acted as strict warning. This part of Amityville was theirs, and despite their glossed-over words and kind remarks, they were still an intruder. Students had still questionably, gone missing. Students had dissipated. What exactly was in that cave that they guarded so viciously, and what gave them the right to claim it?

After all, one cannot grow without learning their lesson.

OOC: THE ROAD LEAST TRAVELED

CHOICES:

- The Reaper has left, clearing a path again out, but only brought in a slew of questions. Students are divided by faction, motive, and heart.
- REGARDLESS OF CURRENT FACTION your student CAN CHOOSE an action. Feel free to ICly talk it out in this thread, for as long as you want with other faction members before EXITING out to one of these three threads. This will be their final (OOC) destination, so please make sure to plan and think carefully!

gaia_crown [ Defenders: ] Did you make the right choice? Shall you continue to fight the good fight? If so, you know what you have to do: protect Amityville at all times, including the cave, especially from strangers who questionably brought the disaster here in the first place. If you are still strong of heart, then you will follow the Defenders /remain to leave into the cave HERE

gaia_crown [ DETH: ] Following your texts is a quick text from Professor Quibble. "Meet me back in my office, now. Avoid fighting." It is urgent, and your resentment for both the rash actions of the Defenders and the nonchalant, mocking style of SCREAM only grows. What if this hooded Reaper was protecting that Human....? It seems the Professor knows the answers, not to mention he still has that tablet. If you are still strong with the values of DETH, then head to Professor Quibble's office HERE

gaia_crown [ SCREAM: ] Power. A way to break out from the norm. A way to be something and someone else. This was not just a warning, it was an opportunity. It was a chance to finally prove to everyone that they were something else, not simply there to be shaped, not there to smile to the world and display their pretty little booths and hope that someone would look at them. Defenders and DETH had idealistic lives, but they never knew how to take risks. They did not know how to ask the right questions. If you still value the path of SCREAM, you will follow the group to the Weeping Forest HERE.

Turning to see whom had called her name, it wasn't long before Ava spotted the hyena boil. Weaving through the crowd, the dryad offered a smile to the boil once she had reached them. "Hello, Zeke." Zeke was always amusing to be around, and quite the flatterer. With school having taken up most of her attention, however, she had no time for relationships. There was no telling for what would happen after graduation though.

"Still as charming as ever I see, Zeke." Moving to sit beside the boil, she took another glance towards the battle before returning her gaze to the group. "Hello to you two as well, Murdoch, Skylar."

Ava herself had no intelligence on the situation to add for the Prof. at this moment. She possibly should have mentioned something about the voices she heard in the water, but it didn't appear to be that important. What was important, was what was happening at this moment.

"Who is that?" She asked, hoping one of the others knew who the reaper like being was.

"You know, Ill do anything it takes to get information. But with Ava, you cant just dim this burning flame in my heart. She's better than information and everything-- "

Ooooh, Vanth and Sophie were proposing something very interesting.

Zeke looked back at Murdoch, refocusing on the conversation. "But if he took us out, he might not get what he's looking for. Remember, he wanted something? This battle is a sham to get something .. and it looks like DETH might just hand it over. Damn, if this battle's a sham, what do you think he'll do once he gets his doo-dad-thingee? I dont think he'll let us go then."

Oh. Wait.

The battle ended.

Talking. More talking. More writing. A lot of writing actually. Then, cell phone check.

"Great pep talk. Great stuff. What are you guys planning to do?"

Yes, Zeke was talking to all three of them.

Was Prof gonna give them his doo-dad-thingee?
