Mo'o, the skink, laughed as he watched all the action. He was having a bit of a hard time keeping up but what he did catch was quite entertaining. Damn the giant lions and their ability to run so very fast. His little legs could only go so fast and for so long. Apparently they were playing some kind of game. They were not hurting each other seriously or going for kills so that must be it. There were other lions on the sidelines too. The ones that were supposedly out of the game were playing like they were dead or dying. It surely was something to be seen. He had not been so entertained in his entire life.

Xefo was very happy where he sat, but it seemed the action was moving on... Oh, well... His old wings had been rested for a short while at least, and he'd had some fun while resting them. It was all good, but he was curious and wanted to see if the attacking team would keep winning.
"I'll be back when you're properly dead," he promised the 'dead' lioness, and with a lot of huffing, and jumping, and flapping he took wing again. He caught an up draft and started circling again, studying the lions and their game of war.

The ambush was successful, and as the group moved on their next attacker was quickly taken down. Their team was on a roll, and Mkazo felt a surge of pride. They were Firekin. He was Firekin.
And they were also discovered, apparently. s**t. The dark lion ground his teeth as the scout slipped away, his tail lashing behind him more out of annoyance than for any real concern over being found. "I don't think they'll like what happens if they try to take us all on at once," he growled. "Trap or no trap."

((Holy freaking crap, I go to bed/work and this exploded xd !! -Shakes fist at work- WHY YOU NEED INTERRUPT RP?! emotion_donotwant )) All seemed quiet, and then things exploded, again and again. And through all of this, Soleil and Keahilani had been circling around. When had they ended up alone? She couldn't tell, but they'd have to rejoin the rest. The red lioness wedged herself between two particularly large rocks - Though not enough to get stuck - And looked around. There was no point in finding a higher spot, she'd get sighted before she saw any enemies... Or even allies. As she looked, she began to get frustrated. "This is RIDICULOUS! We shouldn't have gone the direction we did..." She looked back at her brother. "We need to rejoin the others.""It was your idea." He got a scathing glare from Soleil. Instead of arguing, he pushed past her and went stalking around a carefully chosen path. His ears moved and blue eyes watched literally everything, trying to avoid getting tagged. He wanted to be the one doing any tagging, and soon began looking for any signs of mud so he could put his plan of disguise into action. After all, what would the Nergui do? They would try to mingle and slip in to crush from within, like a sinkhole eating the world around it. He wanted to be that sinkhole. The pale lion with the nearly-as-pale eyes squinted, listening to Ea's words before starting off to stalk the sidelines. Close behind him was what had become his apprentice, Kiran. "You just watch for now, Kiran..." He soon found Zheva, bowing his head. "Exciting times..." Before he could say more, someone was out and Singh hurried to drag the 'body' off the field. Things were already becoming exciting, as everybody did this and that and lions were tagged out... When he next stopped near Zheva, he tried again at conversation. "Things are moving fast, wouldn't you say? Behind him, Kiran covered his mouth with his paw and hid a laugh.

'Kero was solidly lost and cut off from the group. She frowned deeply. This was not the first impression she was wanting to make, not at all. Voices neared, talking about rejoining the others. She stopped to ponder... was this on her side or not? She opted to not chance it, and instead turned to retrace her steps, heading back towards the main group. Before long the voices she'd avoided faded into the distance, and it all became eerily quiet around her. Carefully she padded along, still trying to remain screened from sight, but also trying to follow her own trail.
Soon, though, whispered voices and the sounds of multiple lions shifting around filtered to her through the rocky crags. Cautiously hopeful, she edged around a corner and narrowed her eyes at the group. Nope, no mud markings. With a silent sigh of relief, she stayed within sight, but did not join the large mob. Instead, she set her back to them and turned back the way she'd come, eyes and ears alert. Regardless of what they decided to do, she'd obey orders she was given. She felt too starkly new to bother suggesting any strategy. This was their pride, their business, so she figured they'd not welcome a newcomer butting in.

Naar was looking nervous. There was no other way to describe it. Her eyes were wide and darted to and fro and she sidled close to the others, not wanting to be separated though she was now close to the front of the group.
"We're being lured." She said after a moment. A simple enough observation but that was Naar all over. She didn't mix her words. She said it how it was. She didn't consider herself an intelligent creature and so it should have been obvious. "There is a trap laid for us."
But what would the plan be? To spring said trap of back-track the way they had come? In fact, either option seemed somewhat risky. Perhaps they were not being lured, after all. Perhaps they were simply pretending to make them act in another way.
Ugh...this thinking made her head hurt.

Its an ambush!
While things are quiet, they don't stay that way for long. While team 1 debates on whether or not this is a trap, team 2 takes advantage of the momentary confusion! Was it a trap or just good luck? It doesn't look like now is the time to ask!
Four lions quickly barrel through the small passage. Out front is a fairly chubby lion that Hraga immediately recognizes as Tarsa. He rams into a few lions nearest to him, using that large bulk to his advantage.
Close on his heels is trio of lions and lionesses. If someone can make sense of the brief moment of chaos, they'll recognize them: Naseera, the black lioness. Yayuka, with the missing ear and fiery mane. And Roho, a hongshan refugee who is looking far more grave than a mock battle should entail.
They seem intent on dishing out some damage!
FOR THE NEXT FIVE POSTS, ROLL 1-5. THE FIRST TWO PEOPLE WHO ROLL 2 OR BELOW ARE TAGGED OUT.
IF NO ONE IS TAGGED OUT, THE AMBUSH IS A SHAME UPON THEIR ANCESTORS.
They will be battled individually after the ambush!

Was it a trap, or not a trap? It was impossible to tell, but did it really matter? If it was a trap, then they were already in it, and if it wasn't a trap, the other team now knew they were here, so it would be as good as one soon, anyway. either way, they knew their enemy had to be coming. It had Nisi on high alert, and ready for what came next: it was their turn to get ambushed.
She was just quick enough to avoid getting rammed into.

Saharan was only too glad when some of the lions were asked to hang back. Sure, she could guard this place with one or two others. No problem. She hunkered down behind a dune of sand with a few others, content to flick her tail and keep her ears perked should anyone come upon them. She might not be a fighter, but she could at least warn the main group with a yell if they were to be attacked from the back, and she thus sooner come upon. She watched from a mild distance as the black lioness popped up and took off running. Wonderful. With her luck the main group of team one would be taken out now and she'd have to try to win with the few others who'd hung back. Just great. Ah well. Maybe not. Hraga seemed to be moving his team out quickly. She would feel a little bad, she decided, if the game ended and she offered nothing else to it. But she was just following orders, after all.
Saoiraed had been eager to chase the black lioness, but he too had not been fast enough. He came panting back to the main group and bobbed his head in agreement. "She was black, yes, with a paler mark here." He motioned to his shoulder. "Sort of like a moon, I think. It was hard to tell." He didn't know anyone like that, but then, possibly they were new, or from another part of the pride. The Firekin were so great in numbers he couldn't hope to know them all. He listened eagerly for directions on what to do next. Surely Hraga would have an idea...he felt his blood surging, and began to feel that perhaps the moment of the final battle was at hand. "Maybe it was a decoy, and they'll be coming up behind? Good thing you left some sentries..." He was only guessing...
Unfortunately, he was so busy looking behind, he was slow to react to the frontal threat. Before he knew what happened, he was flipped and pinned. He forze, stunned for a moment, and angry with himself, then chuckled and winked at his teammates. "Give them hell, friends!" Then, with an amusing gurgle, he went limp, still smiling.

An ambush... the others had anticipated it and he wasn't entirely surprised but so soon... it seemed rushed. He drew back, slowly and smoothly as the darker shapes appeared. He wasn't about to retreat but there was strength in numbers. Staying close to the main group, and staying tightly within them, was a sure way to discourage the attackers from picking any one of them out. He certainly didn't want to get tapped out so early on...he'd not had his chance in combat.
Zheva raised her head as another pale lion approached her. She smiled softly and dipped her head. "Exciting enough, and we're at least kept busy. Perhaps it's a good way to better get to know our hosts."
She got up to her paws and stepped over. Those being tagged out weren't all that bad off, but it was always best to stay on the side of caution. "It's a good exercise, and it lets us see how they work with eachother."

From one trouble to another! Ran wasn't quite sure how things kept getting so confusing for her - she usually kept a better head than this! But then, this was a bit larger coordination effort than she was used to - no time for thoughts, though! She had to help fight off team two! She would later admit that this was a well-planned ambush, but for now she focused merely on on keeping from getting knocked out of the battle - and maybe take down one or more of the ambushers, she hoped as she dodged a swiping lunge from Naseera.
She wasn't going down here!

A string of curses flew from Mkazo's mouth as the escaped sentry returned...with reinforcements. He wasn't close enough to be in Tarsa's path - somewhere he'd wager very few lions wanted to be right now - but had to leap out of the way of those behind him. Ears flattened, the dark lion lashed a paw out at one of them as he dodged. He did not like being taken by surprise.

Wouldn't you know it, she goes and guards one of the passageways, and the enemy goes and charges up a different one, while her back is turned! With a frustrated snarl, she spun around to face the threat, but is thwarted by how many lions are between her and the onslaught. Patience, she reminded herself. They were shoving through the front lines already, so she just might get her chance to come nose to nose with an opposing pridemate yet!

Yes! They'd gotten them! Naseera seemed aflush with pride as she rounded the charge, turning around to see their handiwork. Wait- they'd only managed to knock over one guy?! What! This was unacceptable! If she didn't win this contest, how was she supposed to make off with the prize at the end?
[No one had the heart to tell her there was no prize.]
Targeting the nearest lion, she went in for the kill! Metaphorically speaking!

Oh, this one was so hers.
Nisi was still furious that the lioness had gotten away earlier, and she wasn't about to let that slight go uncorrected. Seeing her chance as the group of four ended their charge, Nisi wasted no time in springing for the black lioness...who was also intent on a 'kill,' apparently.
No way! She smacked into her with a snarl and every ounce of force she had, tumbling the other onto her back. "Got you!"
Yeah, this was awesome. She stood over her victim triumphantly for what was probably a little longer than necessary before stepping away.
