Bella's enthusiasm was infectious, and Mort could only smirk back at her supposed threats. "Can try," he shot back smugly as he hit A to get them to the start of the race. "Fair warning, am good at game." Although this version was older and had different mechanics, so maybe things were even anyway . . .
The skeletal bat holding the spotlight counted them down. Three . . . two . . . one . . . go!
And go Mort did, though since they were on the Sparkle Cup the AI was . . . above average to say the least. Even when controlling Bowser he found himself being buffeted about somewhere between fifth and sixth place. He growled and pressed on.AyeAvast XD S'alright, since I keep using Mort it's not expected to remember his actual name. But indeed I'll let you know when it's up! As for mechanics, I remember there was a mini game for Scario Kart once on here that had a d10 rolled three times (for each lap), and if you rolled a 1 or 10 you got to roll a second time since you hit one of the speed boost panels or got a shroom for it. Highest number = winrar?

"Try?!" The witch replied with a good deal of incredulity. "Oh, I'll do more than try." What exactly she meant by that, she left up to him and slammed her thumb down on the controller. With a cackle from the demented princess on screen, the witch's character zoomed off and shot straight to first place. Belladonna couldn't help but let out a cackle of her own when she hit a speed boost and sailed further ahead. "Told ya." Was all she said. At least she accompanied it with a wink. "Ooohh! We should make a bet! Let's see... If I win.... Hmmm. Well, if you win what do you want?" There were two options flitting around in Belladonna's head, but she kept them to herself and waited to see what Mort would throw out. Ol-j-man Alrighty, I can't wait! biggrin But yay an in-rp game woot! So far I'm liking it. XD

Uh oh. Maybe his gaming skill had been affected by the Insanity as well. DD: CURSED WHISPERS. The sound of Bella's cackling field him to get his head in the game, and with some well placed shells he was soaring into third place. "Dunno," he grunted, half-focused on her, half on the game (and getting his rightful place at the head of the line). "Will think 'bout it. When I win."

And if you happen to roll a 1 or 10 again, feel free to make a quick second post with the boost roll. I think I remember the rules saying we couldn't do consecutive boosts (i.e. First roll is a 10. Second roll is a 1 or 10 again, but can't get a second boost). Edit: Yup, since the 10 happened on the 3rd roll! Sorry if it's worded weirdly.

Oh, no! It was ON. The witch couldn't let Mort win! Especially when she had to show that she could do this. Maybe she wasn't a gamer girl, but she could still hold her on! She just had to! For a moment the witch took a turn too fast and nearly fell off a cliff, but she managed to hold on even though it put her in second place. Yeek! Mort was so close. Urrgghhh! But then she hit another speed boost and speed forward into first place. "YESSSSS." Ol-j-man Oh sweet, another boost. So since I rolled a 10 again, does that mean I roll another speed boost again? I'm a little confused... Sorry!

That speed boost was able to keep the witch in first place, for which she was grateful. "You're gonna have to step up your game if you want any hope of beating me~" She chimed happily. Ol-j-man OK. Ok I get it, thanks! Do I count the speed boost in my tally? Cause it'll be weird high...

Belladonna wanted him to step his game up? Well alright then. With luck he managed to force third and second place to explode off the cliff and be forced to restart at an earlier point, and finally he managed to maneuver his kart to a speed boost.
HE WAS COMINGGGGGG.

Mort knew at this point he wouldn't be able to beat her - but Jackdamn if he didn't try to shrink the gap between them!
"Beginner's luck," he pouted at her, still confident that he could win this little bet. Besides, there were still 3 tracks to go, so who knew?

When Princess Peach-Pit flew over the finish line, Belladonna couldn't help but throw her hands up into the air and cackle maniacally. It was probably the scariest thing she'd ever done and she promised herself she would remember such a thing should she ever have the fortune to visit the Human World. With a huge grin on her face, she whirled around to face Mort and poked him in the ribs. "Aw, c'mon. Don't pout. There's still two courses. Who knows? Maybe you'll win at least one." To soften her taunting she placed a quick kiss on his cheek, because jackdamn it she liked touching him too much. Before she could do much else, the second round started and the witch prepped herself for more wins. Since she won last time, she got to start out at the front of the line this round. With slitted eyes she watched the counter go Three... Two... GREEN!!Once again, Princess Peach-Pit shot forth like a bat out of hell, both she and the witch giggling with glee. ((I think I'm supposed to roll once more, but she won anyway so we'll just start the next round now. XD )) Ol-j-man OK. OK. I promise I don't why the dice love her, but they do. Sorry Mort. XD Just make-out with her if you lose and it'll feel like a win.

"Ooof," was all he said when she poked him, still a bit sour - though that melted off fast enough with the offered kiss. Well he supposed he could handle losing if - what the Jack she was already far ahead.
This game was rigged, Mort decided with a huff as he tried to keep up. At the least he wasn't far behind her during the first lap.AyeAvast Aaah you were right, my bad. XD; Hot damn, Bells, this game really likes you. Don't forget your speed boost from that last roll!

The witch gleefully took the offered speed boost, but only used it to spin out and loose her first place standing. She squealed softly at this, suddenly serious as she hunched back over her controller. Eventually she was able to even out her player, but it was only two spots ahead of Mort. "You almost made it!" The witch teased in attempt to cover up her own worry with bravado. Round 2/3

"Won't win s-so easy!" he retorted, willing Growlser to bowl over the next person who dared to pass him. Although if he didn't hurry soon, she was going to win this one as well . . . "Though, er, sure only played game casually?" He just couldn't accept the fact that he was getting his a** handed to him by any regular student: no, she had to be a secret expert!

And then the large monster got smashed by a bomb off the railings. A swarm of skeletal bats cackled and picked him up sloooooowly, allowing a host of CPUs to pass him up. Grumbling, Mort found the nearest speed boost to get back in the race.
It was the witch's cackle, he deduced. It was a scary sound that probably was laced with some unknown magic that was cursing his normally amazing skills. Absolutely.(( Speed boost + total = 13, dude he really likes that number ))

Had the witch failed to mention that she had beaten Hemlock most of those times? Whoops~ And though she didn't clench third place like she had wanted, a smooth second was still in her grasp. The witch sighed happily and pretended to wipe sweat from her brow. There was no way Mort was going to win this round. Maybe in all fairness they'd do a best 2 out of 3... This was rather fun. (Final score for Belladonna Round 2: 30!)

Mort was sure he'd have the decency to nab fifth place, but no: Toadie, the damn dwarf, he managed to grab a mushroom and zoom past him just a second before Growlser passed the finish line. "Seriously?" As the listings came up for times and overall ranks, Mort pressed one end of the controller into his forehead and tapped it a few times. "Think this game is trolling me . . ."
And now was a great time to learn that his human opponent was rather competitive to boot. He'd better brace himself to be Bella's sewing slave or something when she won.
"Guess, ah, means you won most've time then?" Mort guessed as the game moved to the semifinal round. If Bells won this one as well, the fourth eponymous track (A literal road of sparkles in the twilight sky) would just be for formality's sake.

The witch was astonished to hear the boil make an almost complete sentence, but the context of it made her burst out into laughter.
"Oh my Hecate, it just might be." She reached out and took his hand. "Its ok. If you lose, we'll keep it fair and do... Two our of three overall wins. But there are two more laps. We might end up with a tie!" The witch chimed with a smile. And they hadn't discussed the terms of the bet in any regard, so it wasn't really all that bad.
The screen chimed a warning to let them know the next race was about to start, so Belladonna turned her attention back and once again resumed her hunched over position, but now her tongue stuck out in faux-concentration.
"Well, let's just say I've spent a lot of time grooming myself to look exactly the way I want." She finally said when she pressed the 'go' button.
Which was basically a nice way of saying "Oh hell yeah! I beat that b***h's butt all the damn time!".
